Hog Pen clearly has the best barbecue in town. From the excellent pulled pork to the unique chopped chicken, their sandwiches are great along with their standard sauce. If you eat in the restaurant, there's a good chance the owner will stop by your table to check on the meal. The best item on the men I've tried is the whole or half barbecue chicken. It is cooked just perfectly, and I overheard the owner once saying he was most proud of his barbecue chicken. The atmosphere is definitely very casual, but it seems to fit the building, signage, etc., very well. The restaurant has signs and murals representing sports teams of local schools and colleges. This is a great little BBQ place. A little hard to find as Google doesn't lead you to the right place, but worth finding. Two things make the BBQ...the meat and the sauce. Both were great here. Service was also great and they gave me some free ribs to try. Prices were also cheap for a BBQ joint. read more

1000 times yes. Tip #1... when you walk in, if they don't recognize you, say it is your first time. Trust me, I don't want to ruin your surprise when they have a first timer. Best BBQ I've had in Arkansas! Rivals Rendezvous in Memphis! It's tucked away in Forté Plaza, just past the historic Downtown District in Conway. A quaint restaurant, with mama's kitchen feel. Since this was my first time dining, I was treated to a fall-off-the-bone rib sample & homemade fried pork-skins (think rinds, not cracklins). Mr Forté himself came out to great me, and suggested I try some of the homemade BBQ sauce on my skins... Mouth-watering! I wish I could say that I took the time to savor my dinner, but it was just too good... Pulled pork sandwich, topped with house slaw, and sweet potato French fries served with maple syrup for dipping! I also had a link of Boudain which was on-point! When Mr. Forté greeted me, he jovially asked where I had been, to which I replied coyly, 'hiding'. I will definitely no longer be hiding from the Hog Pen in Conway, AR - that's for sure! read more

Wow - I'm pretty sure that I have been to hundreds of BBQ joints in my life - BUTT - this place has absolutely the best RIBS that I have ever had - the catfish was awfully good too! My wife isn't a rib person - she will order them next time! Anyone venturing near Conway Arkansas - you have to try this place - only open on Thursday, Friday @ Saturday's & Cash only! Homemade fried pies - peach was great. My wife had a slice of one of the cakes of the day - homemade chocolate cake - melt in your mouth good. Service is always friendly and welcoming. All of the different foods and sides are delicious. This is the best Bar B Q place in Conway. I would give it another 1/2 star, but it would not give that option. I only take away a 1/2 stsr due to limited days open and they do not take credit cards. read more

My husband ordered the beef family pack. It came with two side and a pound of beef and four hamburger buns. We have never ordered food from here but let me tell you it was GREAT! They had wonderful customer service and the food was ready in a decent amount of time. We will definitely be ordering from here again! read more

Hog Pen was the first BBQ we tried in Conway back in 2007. We really loved it and went back for more. We loved the ribs and the pulled pork and the potato salad and beans are just the way we like them. The restaurant is small and often crowded and just a half-block off the main drag. Watch for it as you come north on Harkrider, veer right at just the right time and you're there. Here's another great way to enjoy Hog Pen - have them cater your picnic. Our group uses them for an annual picnic almost every year and it's great. Reasonable price and they do all the work; set-up, serving, everything. read more

You could travel all around the South in America and still have really bad barbecue but if you go to the Hog Pen this place has the most amazing barbecue sauce the greatest cakes the staff is amazing the pork rinds are delicious I have yet to have anything at their place that was bad. I had the riblett dinner with fried okra and french fries. The lemon cake is out of this world if you are lucky enough to get a slice. I will be going back very very soon. read more

My wife and I are new to AR and were looking for some Good BBQ I have found it here. We ordered the chopped beef sandwich with Fried okra and hush puppies. The Fried okra was on point nice and crispy and soft on the inside and the hush puppy will we order and extra plate yep that good. The chopped beef sandwich was delicious to and the employees were very friendly. Next time we come back will try the ribs can't wait!! read more

I have to give 5 stars on dry rub ribs and the potatoe salad. Both were as good as I have ever eaten anywhere. I also had fried fish and give it 3 's as I found it a bit too salty. Give them a try, you will be glad you did. read more

We found this unexpected gem because of Yelp and the positive reviews we read. We had high expectations because of those reviews and we were not disappointed. We have had our share of BBQ and this was the best we've ever experienced. The chicken literally fell off of the bone. Everything we tasted (we ordered a sampler platter) was amazing. Even the coleslaw was my favorite recipe! This is a family run business and what a hospitable and kind family. They made us feel right at home! Combo playe had 1/2 a chicken, 2 ribs, and a 1/4 link of sasuage. Sauce is more Memphis Sweet than Texas Vinigar, but they do have a hotter one that is tasty. Great regional BBQ joint. read more

Stopped in after another recommended BBQ joint was closed for inclement weather (5" of melted snow....ridiculous) anyway, this place was fantastic. We arrived when there were maybe 5 tables filled (maybe 1/3 full). Within 20 minutes they were packed. We were seated and within two minutes a man (owner?) brought us a plate of ribs for free. They were excellent! Our toddler was starting to get fussy, so I told him we need a cup of beans, stat. He brought them out right away and our little boy ate them up! My wife and I had the ribs and my father in law had the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were amazing and tender! I had sides of fried okra and hushpuppies. Both are notoriously hard to find up north where we live, so I was stoked they had them. Both were delicious. Very friendly staff and excellent, excellent food. read more

You will not find better barbecue in this world. I like all kinds of BBQ, so I get that people have preferences. But here the ribs are always tender and meaty. The hush puppies are the best. My family and I stopped by Hog Pen on our way home from Little Rock. There was a sign on the door that said "take out only" so we thought we had missed our opportunity to dine in, but inside a very friendly server greeted us and told us to have a seat anywhere. Our server brought us complimentary pork rinds to start. My husband and I shared a full rack of ribs with okra and beans. The okra was fresh and crispy. The ribs were tender and had fantastic flavor! Some of the best I've ever had. The portion of ribs that we shared was more than enough and a great value. We used the hot BBQ sauce and it had a nice kick! Our 8 year old got a pulled pork sandwich with fries. The pork was juicy, the way it should be! All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious! We will definitely return if ever in the area again. read more
