It was room temperature and had one tiny slice of brisket cut into four pieces hidden by cheese and sour cream. It was ok. I mean how badly can you mess up a potato? My husband ordered the Cajun sampler. The proteins were delicious-fried fish, shrimp, crawfish, but that's it. We are Louisianians born and bred. It came with cups of gumbo and red beans and rice. I'm not sure what was in the first cup, but it wasn't gumbo and was pretty much inedible. The crackers with the gumbo were so old, they were rancid. You could smell the odor as soon as you opened the package. The red beans and rice were flavorless except for waaaay too much red pepper (tons of Tony Chacherie's does not make it Cajun). There was Texas toast--should have had hush puppies, but whatever. We drank water. THEN we got the bill--$55 for lunch before the tip. The good: The servers were friendly and pretty good at their jobs. I didn't have any major complaints there. They were also all pretty women, so if you're looking for pretty waitresses, this restaurant might suit you. The boudin ball was good, as was its dipping sauce..... but the sauce was served cold. It would have been better warmed. The ball itself is quite rich in flavor and very oily. We split it and enjoyed it, but eating it by myself might have been a bit much. The thing sort of falls apart as you eat it, which can be frustrating. The prices were decent. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas, and a stage outdoors. We were there at 6:00 on a Friday evening, and there was a live guitar player. Pretty nice. Good blues music playing indoors too. The bad: this will be a long list. The food lacked flavor. It's cajun cuisine and barbecue. It should be bursting with flavor, but most of the dishes were a little bland, apart from the boudin ball and its sauce. My pulled pork sandwich had a good texture, but very little flavor. It's smoked pork. It should be FULL of flavor. How did they manage to make it bland? It needed BBQ sauce to give it any kind of appeal. The toast was pretty much perfect, so there's that. My wife's "big azz" burger had a terrific flavor, and a nice seared crust on the meat patty..... but once she reached the middle of the burger, it was bland. The flavor and seasoning are just on the outside. They also didn't bring her eating utensils. We had to ask for them. That's not weird when ordering a burger, except that they brought condiments in little cups. How would a person add mayo and ketchup to the burger without utensils? There was bacon on the burger, and...... my wife couldn't taste it. It added zero flavor or texture. Why would anyone serve a bacon burger on which the bacon adds no enjoyment? How is it possible to make bacon bland? Our BBQ baked beans were..... decent. We expect something better than decent from a place that specializes in BBQ. Even the pickle spears were bland. How is that possible? They tasted like pickles, but... in the same way that skim milk tastes like milk. They were less pickle-y than most pickles. BBQ needs the sourness of pickle to offset the sweet and spicy flavors. My wife said that the middle of her pickle spear had more flavor than the first bite. Mine was bland all the way through. I used lots of BBQ sauce to give my sandwich flavor. The sauce was decent. Again, a BBQ place should have sauce that is better than decent. If the meat is awesome and sauce is decent, that works. Or vice-versa. But bland meat and okay sauce add up to a mediocre experience. I tried both regular and spicy sauces. A few critiques of the service: our waitress knew the specials. Great. She didn't know any prices. Like five specials, but no prices listed. She did have them written down, but it took her a long time to find the prices. It would be a simple matter to write the prices next to the dish names on the chalk board. Our waitress put our utensils right on the table. That really isn't sanitary to my standards. Admittedly, I'm a bit phobic about germs. She also handled these things with her bare hands.... after she touched our menus.... that many people touch. Again, it might not bother some people, but it bothers me. Also, my wife got a metal knife and fork. I got plastic. Why? I strongly prefer metal. I don't know why they'd bring anyone plastic. We probably wouldn't go back. There are LOTS of good dining options in conway. read more

Fantastic spot out of the crowds, the portions here are Huge! No one at our table left the least bit hungry. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful and the live music (Nick Flora) was just the perfect accompaniment. I had the crawfish stuffed baked potato special and it was delicious. When I heard crabcakes and catfish, I was disappointed to get premade, out of a package . Was cooked well but I can do that at home. Quaint local eatery owned by Cajun native so authentic menu. My pulled pork was on grilled Texas toast with a burned side, with a 'dab' of slaw. Smoky, tender meat with spicy & mild sauces on the table. S.W.E.E.T. tea oh my word! Had to let the ice melt. Slow service in the 12:30-1:30 slot but servers appeared to be hustling with a back room and a patio to take care of. Fabulous hand-cut fries the best we've had in a long time. Got there and while waiting at the front door to get a table a young couple just pushes by enters the restaurant finds a table and sits down. So I go to the front desk and ask where we are in line tried to explain that a couple broke line and sat down before us. I was wanting fish and my husband was wanting BBQ. This place seemed to have them both! We both got the catfish basket and then we ordered a Sampler plate that consisted of BBQ ribs, sausage, and we chose brisket as the third meat item. We were sharing the sampler plate so as the two sides we both got the baked potato salad. I also wanted to try the gumbo so I ordered a cup of gumbo for us to try. The waitress asked me if I wanted salt, pepper, and hot sauce for my gumbo. Out of curiosity I decided to have her bring me salt and pepper. The fish was fantastic. The hush puppies were good, the fries were good, the baked potato salad was delicious! The sausage was very good. The gumbo was lacking in Cajun flavor and the added salt was definitely needed. The ribs were very tough. Needed longer time on the smoker to tenderize. The brisket I'm not sure how to saw gross in a nice way. Needed a longer time on the smoker as well. I wasn't sure it was even done. Now the slaw..... although the flavor was good I've never had slaw soup before. It was interesting trying to eat it with a fork. I know my post is long and I tried to cover all food items. I give this place a 4 out of 5 stars because although the food was not worth the money I paid the service was great. Three of us ate there for lunch and walked away with the same impression, not bad, but nothing special. We started out with the Boudin Balls for the appetizer. They were fairly tasty, had a nice little spice kick to them and came with great dipping sauce. As for the entree One person had the pulled pork sandwich and chips. The pork was moist and tender but was pretty much tasteless. Thankfully there was BBQ sauce at the table to give it some taste. I cannot remember what the other person had but they mentioned that it was okay. I had the special of the day which was Cajun Sausage Sandwich with Slaw and a bowl of Gumbo. The sandwich was probably the best part of the whole meal. Plenty of sausage, crispy tangy slaw, on a toasted bun. The gumbo was pretty bland and had a lot of okra in it and very little meat. The server was friendly and did a good job keeping our drinks topped up and checking in on us. I would put this down as one of those places that yes I would probably eat there again, but I am not going to go out my way to do so. read more

We stopped in after a half day of driving and hit the jackpot! We knew we were in for a treat when we noticed the locals were filling the place up for lunch. The fried catfish was the best my wife had had in many years, and she travels the county looking for good fish. The roughneck sandwich was equally delish. Big, bold flavors, balanced spice, was just amazing. The Cajun bread, slaw and gumbo were great starters. We took an order of Cajun bread home because it was that good. After passing by this place multiple times, we stopped in on a whim and oh my goodness we were glad we did. Good atmosphere and great service. We had a pull apart jalapeño cheese bread appetizer (I forgot the name ), and it was amazing. The mister got the jambalaya and I ordered the fried fish. It was probably some of the best fish I've ever had. The filets were large, which is rare at restaurants these days, and the breading was perfect! The seasons etc, I didn't even need lemon juice or hot sauce like I usually have to use at fish places. I was stuffed, but wanted more it was so good. We'll definitely be going back.
