Posting for my Aunt: My family has dined here several times in the past few weeks....has always been a pleasant experience.  The ribs have been the best ever...we always order a full rack and pass them around as appetizers.  My husband and I dined alone there Tuesday night....ordered the full rack of ribs with two sides....paid a little extra to substitute French fries....When the ribs were delivered to the table I noticed we were several ribs short of the usual quantity.....and the always very generous French fries were extremely skimpy.  I walked up to the counter and asked how many ribs should come with the "full rack".  One of the servers immediately replied "12"......I said, "Yes, that is what we have always received but today we were only served 8" (One of the ribs was just a bone and I did not bother to mention the almost non existent fries). Another young server standing there quickly replied, with a smirk, ....and I quote.........."Some people only get 8"....... Hmmmmm.....wonder if it could have been the Trump t-shirt I was wearing....Too bad....the ribs were so good.....Rats.......I am gonna miss this place.... read more

Delicious and good portions! Standard bbq options, but a few special ones like broccoli salad and the sweet cornbread is a mini loaf.

Stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday. Yelp reviews were very generous. After reading reviews, I ordered burnt ends, macaroni, and sweet potato fries. The reviewer for the fries was absolutely correct. They are really tasty with a sprinkling of cinnamon. Now the macaroni was almost tasteless with even some noodles being hard. Probably just a bad day for macaroni plus it was 2 pm. My biggest gripe was the bbq. Not that good. Meat was tender to cut but dry tasting, even being smothered in their sauce. Disappointing. If you are in the area of Aurora, MO, you MUST stop, no....DRIVE here for some of the absolute best BBQ. This restaurant is serving to the level of competition and it shows. Drew (owner) has many champion trophies on display to show that he knows what he is doing. We had the most amazing turkey, melt in you mouth burnt ends , brisket, sausage, pulled pork, and pulled chicken....(drool). Since it was St Patty's day, we had the opportunity to try some of the best corned beef that we have ever taste too. Amazing flavor! We had the sliced brisket and turkey with a side of cole slaw and corn bread. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant a 5 is only the way the ordering/seating is handled. But definitely will not stop me from coming back and trying other meats and sides. read more

Oh my goodness! The ribs here are to die for. It may be the sauce that is nice and sweet or the fact that these ribs stay beautifully intact until you bite one, the most tender ribs I've eaten. Back to the sauce... I did not expect the brown sugar??? sauce to be so amazingly balanced, goes great with sweet potato fries as well. I enjoyed every bite of my platter and laughed when I got home with two sets of utensils. I have no future intention on ever sharing my Hog Tide BBQ with anyone, I might share a dessert next time I come in but not the ribs! read more

Five stars are not enough! The pit masters are all competition BBQ chefs. They have won at the American Royal National tournament several times. More prestigious they have competed at the Jack Daniels World BBQ championship. All of that is in their food. If you only like typical restaurant style Q, you may not be happy. But try Hog Tied to change your mind. Order the Burnt Ends-brisket that melts in your mouth. Sauce is served on the side, the way it's supposed to be. read more

Cannot say enough great things about this place. Everything I ate was amazing even down to the Butter for the sweet cornbread lol. I had the porkbelly burnt ends,and it literally brought tears to my eyes as it was so good. Definitely worth many,many more visits I highly recommend it. read more

First time trying this plain-Jane outside, nice inside. A little confusing but you order and pay at the counter and take your number and self-poured drinks to your table. Service was prompt. The food was okay but not outstanding. A shared salad with brisket was nice and they served it up as I asked with dressing on the side. I'll probably try it again. read more

This place is no joke and they've got the trophies on the wall to prove it. Pros: "Fork tender" doesn't begin to describe the sliced brisket The house-made loaded potato salad will BLOW. YOUR. MIND. Staff and owners are super friendly Everything is exactly the way it should be except better Cons: The smoked chicken. It sounds good, but it is actually not good. Protip: Immediately say yes if the owner comes up to your table and asks if you'd like some of the freshly made spicy sauce. read more

BBQ restaurants typically have high prices. HOG TIDE prices are reasonable and EVERYTHING is ALWAYS DELICIOUS. The restaurant is clean as well. The owner (Drew) and staff take great pride in serving and caring for their customers and it shows. In the past, I used to only eat the one thing that was good at restaurants, I guess I got that from my truck driving days, but I've probably tried everything on the menu at HOG TIDE. Just stopped for a meal at Hog Tide Bar -B -Que...what a treat! The owner is VERY serious about his award winning BBQ. Had the Burnt Ends, hubby had the ribs. DELICIOUS! The burnt ends were chunks of tender meat. Don't forget to try their hot sauce, tangy with a great kick! The Baked Potato salad was especially yummy too! We ate there last night. It was OK, definitely not "world class BBQ". However, the owner does appear to have the largest collection of fake BBQ trophies in the world, which is something I guess. If you want real "world class" BBQ, go to Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ, in Martin City, directly south of KCMO, right off I-49. You won't see a single fake trophy, but you'll get the best BBQ in Missouri. read more

Camping in Branson and being on the never ending quest for "Que", we thought a day trip to Aurora, Missouri to try the new Hog Tied BBQ Restaurant would be in order. Walking in, we were greeted immediately and told how to get in line to order or be seated at the bar for full service. We chose the bar and loved it as we were able to speak to the workers and the seating was comfortable. Hubs had the brisket sandwich and sweet potato fries. Brisket was thick cut, very tender, we could really taste the meat and the sweet potato fries were outstanding! They were hot, had a great bite, we both agree they were the best sweet potato fries we ever had. Most sweet potato fries are limp, these were crispy outside, soft inside and all future sweet potato fries will be judged by this standard. I ordered the 2 meat combo with brisket and sausage, both good. Came with 2 sides so we tried the mac n cheese and beans. Mac was really good with shell pasta and generously blessed with a yummy several cheese sauce. Very nice. Beans were good too, personally, I like a bit more heat to my beans, but they were good. All the sides were fresh and hot. We were able to taste a burnt end, and that was melt in your mouth tender, I wish we had been able to get a combo plate with burnt ends. The meat comes unsauced, which we like as we prefer to taste the meat and smoke then add sauce as we please. The standard sauce is available with your food but we very much preferred the hot sauce. In fact, adding a bit of it to the beans perked them right up. One of the lovely ladies gave us a sample of an aioli she concocted and we liked that too. Altogether, with the excellent service and great food, we consider this a drive worth making. Aurora is a lucky community to have quality local "Que". And, they have house made pecan pie with a whiskey whipped cream. Unfortunately, I was so intent on picking out my t-shirt and trying to count the competition BBQ trophies that I totally forgot to talk hubs into sharing a piece. Someone let me know how that pie is, would you? Hubs was too full anyway, and by the way, I lost count at 50. read more

Best BBQ I've had in a long time-maybe ever. Staff, from the moment you are greeted on the front porch are friendly and helpful.

Traveling between Joplin and Springfield, MO and heard about this place, so I had to check it out as I follow the BBQ scene pretty close. I was not disappointed! I travel all over the GREAT USA for my job and I visit every BBQ joint I can, especially ones that have generated the buzz this place has. I am usually disappointed and underwhelmed when visiting restaurants that most people rave about...but this place is different and worth a look! Unfortunately I arrived after the crowd had devoured many of the menu options. So I had to "settle" for smoked sausage and burnt ends. Poor me! I sat at the bar and was greeted right away. The menu has all my favorites. Originally from Texas, I love the beef and sausage (no sarcastic remarks needed here :-) thank you!) Pay attention to the menu-after I got home I regretted not seeing the BBQ nachos that were available. My meal was top notch! The meats were on point and the sides were tasty.
