I officiated at a wedding on September 9, 2023. Hog wild showed up over two hours after the dinner start time. Many guests had already left without dinner. They were supposed to arrive at 5 for a 6 serve time. They showed up at 8pm. At that point they were turned away as the bride and groom ordered pizza. They were beyond embarrassed. They never refunded or made it right. Stay clear of these folks. read more

I couldn't wait to write this review... mostly because I was very nervous it wouldn't show. The online ordering is super easy, but the payment process was through PayPal, which seemed a little odd. Pricing was high, and I had to pay in full upon ordering. After ordering (for my son's graduation party) I drove past the address and couldn't find the business, so I must admit I got a little worried. Not sure what I was looking for, but there wasn't really much communication or reviews available online. Glad to report, this catering is legit. Food was delivered hot, and on time. The Mac and cheese and smoked beans were delicious. The pulled pork and chicken got lots of praise from the guests. The brisket looked amazing but wasn't very popular because it seemed very fatty. I was pleasantly surprised by the green salad. It was fresh and had lots of toppings. Cornbread was moist, which is kinda tough to do if you know cornbread. All in, this biz is for real. Nothing to worry about, and in fact was very tasty. There was plenty of food for the 30 people order. Prices are much higher than other catering options, but they obviously put time into preparing this feast. Well done Hog Wild! read more

Beyond pleased and grateful to Bill and Hog Wild BBQ. Had a large party yesterday and ordered food on a per head basis. When the food came a bit early, I did not think it was enough. I called Bill, and not only did he come himself and make it right: he brought me 2x the amount I thought I was getting. Talk about Good Food - for Years! We found Hog Wild BBQ 4 years ago for a backyard birthday surprise party (Mine! Actually Jen found them) and 4 years later we had them back for our 4th of July Blowout party two weeks ago. The food was amazing. The team was on-time, smoker in-tow and smelling great! Terrific communication from the quote for the party, to follow up days before. Everyone raved about the whole scene - but mostly the food! I have a few pics that guests took, but I wish I had more of the final prep process, and serving trays lined up. We enjoyed Pulled Pork; Brisket; Cornbread; Smoked Mac-N-Cheese; Coleslaw; Rolls and Pig Juice - and while everyone said they were full (some even went back for seconds!) we had plenty of leftovers for the next day, or two. I am a vegetarian, so this is an odd business for me to review, however my husband is quite carnivorous and loves BBQ. For several years, I have purchased trays of food for our annual family gathering and his birthday celebration from Hog Wild BBQ. Last weekend our sons and I decided that Hog Wild was probably what their dad would like for Father's Day. My husband actually went to pick up his gift and the owner was kind enough to offer him some chicken that would be ready a little later in the day. The owner texted my husband who went back later to pick up this unexpected bonus. To say my husband (and older son who also eats meat) are enjoying this food would be an understatement- they love it! I have been impressed with Hog Wild's professionalism, kindness (to my husband not the animals, obviously) if BBQ is your thing, they are the best in the area. read more

Had the baby back ribs and homemade coleslaw for the first time at Hog Wild BBQ. Both were excellent! Best in the area. I did takeout.

Tried their new restaurant location on Main Street. We had high hopes since this is Newtown's first bbq restaurant that I know of. Overall it was not a pleasant experience at all. The restaurant is inside Murphy's Pub, while while not bad in itself, was unexpected and confusing when we arrived. Upon entering there is no host or direction to self seat, so we ended up self seating. Waitstaff attention was minimal, during the whole course of the meal we were never checked on or offered another drink even though we had empty glasses. The food was what was the most disappointing. The ribs were charred on the outside, brisket was very fatty, baked beans tasted like they came out of a can. The "award-winning" Mac and cheese was extremely congealed, sad looking, and lacked flavor (as if it was made days prior). For a $25 entree I expected much better. They were out of certain items as well even though they just opened in this new location. If the food was fresh that would have made sense but from our experience there is a lack of fresh items. To their credit, the pulled pork sandwich was good. Overall this may be a company that should stick to catering since the restaurant experience was so lacking. read more

What a fantastic experience! From the moment I reached out to Hog Wild to see if they had my date available to cater a 40th birthday party with 50 guests to the week after the event when they followed up to make sure we were happy with the outcome I could not have been more pleased. They were super responsive and returned calls within an hour, worked with me to create a custom Lobster bake/brisket menu, and were very professional with immediate emailed copies of receipts and contracts. Did I mention the food?? The BEST steamers I've ever eaten: no sand, not chewy, and served in the cutest burlap bags. The Lobster was so sweet and already cracked. Guests said they had never eaten so much Lobster in one sitting!! The corn was delicious and I even found myself eating the kids chicken fingers!! And the brisket was mouthwatering! read more

I am only giving this caterer 1 star because I was forced to. My friend had a party yesterday, and pre paid for almost $700 worth of food to be delivered between 3 and 330. The food did not arrive until 730. It was cold and disgusting. The owner was a horrible communicator between 3 and 7, only randomly returning her texts and not answering her phone calls. His excuse for the FOUR HOUR delay was that it was raining. He eventually offered only a partial for her "trouble" as many of her guests left the party at 5, hungry and frustrated. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. It was a HUGE disappointment and the customer service was horrendous. Not to mention the fact that the food was probably sitting on the truck for those four hours and wasn't even safe to eat. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a BBQ caterer. read more

Very disappointing! I had requested samples prior to booking which were delicious. However the day of the event the food delivered was 2 hours late!!!! Not only was it late but it was cold and missing items! And the pulled pork did not taste like what I had sampled. Have yet to get a good reason why. read more

Just home from my hubby's 60th birthday party catered by Hog Wild BBQ. I cannot say enough about how wonderful everything was. The food was AMAZING! Everything exactly as promised.Bill worked within my budget and helped me make a variety of selections that pleased everyone. It was held at our gun club and these folks cater many events themselves so they appreciate good food and honest service. Many guests took his business cards and remarked on the great food. The baby back ribs fell of the bone. Their sauce was delicious. Smoked beans and smoked mac and cheese a unique and wonderful treat. Delicious pulled pork sliders. No skimping on anything and sent all the food home with me INCLUDING the uncooked burgers and dogs. I will recommend Hog Wild BBQ to everyone I know. Thanks to Bill and his wife and Tyler.
