    Calamari

Went for a lunch with a friend. New to both of us. Enjoyed the calamari to start and then we both ordered the Kobe burger. Was over cooked but still juicy. Truffle fries were fantastic. Bar was set in the back left. Looked cozy in there but we sat in the front as the back had a baby shower going on. Will check out this place again.

    Chilean Sea Bass

On an unexpected visit Sunday afternoon with my fiancé, we started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were fantastic. For our entrées, I ordered the Chilean sea bass special, and it was phenomenal. My fiancé had the Tuscan chicken and was very pleased. Overall, it's a great experience every time we come here.

On a very hot day in CT we ended up sitting outside. This was not a good choice. The food was good, but the service was not the best.

    Argentinian Empanadas

Suprised how great this place is! Saw it next to the grocery store and thought it was another fancy pub food place--but food was amazing. We had the tuna tartare which was a huge portion with amazing wonton crisps, empanada special, a flat bread, Newtown chicken, and kids tenders. Even the tenders were fresh and perfectly crispy. We'll be back and so glad we tried this place.

It was warm and cozy and the restaurant was filled with chatty people. We called ahead of our drive and were able to get a table for 4 at 5:15pm. Delicious food and kind and attentive service. Dessert is a must.

$45 fish...ridiculous and not that good.

Really fancy atmosphere and great service. 2 stars are solely for the food. Overpriced, very small portions even for an appetizer "to share", and they have my friend Kraft Mac and cheese honestly. I will not be back, eve !

Pleasant greeting on the phone by Dafina. Mike the owner offered us a table of our choice. Florina his wife also pleasant. Amazing meal! Fireplace and lighting was romantic.

The best bar in town! Ladies night every Wednesday means buy one get one drinks. The bartenders are extremely friendly and quick with service. The dining room has huge windows while the bar area is cozy and decently spacious.

    Cremini mushroom soup

2025 May 24: 1) cremini mushroom soup 2) ahi tuna medium rare 3) Kansas strip medium. They are all from the specials menu. The soup is excellent. As for the main courses, the tuna is the better of the two, because it is cooked just right and the sauce is very tasty.

My friend and I both had burgers, which were delicious -- but what were REALLY awesome were the french fries. Slim, perfectly cooked and salted -- hoo mama. Other reviewers have mentioned that the menu has more of an Asian influence -- this continues to be true, and in fact, when we return I'd like to try some of those more specifically Asian or Asian-inspired dishes. One thing I perceived, though, was that the pickles on the burger were brined in something that tasted almost seafood-y -- I'm allergic so I don't think it was actual fish sauce or something, but something that gave it a slight fishy taste, like when you have seaweed. Anyway, that was the only thing I didn't care for -- but it didn't bother me enough to not want to try again! We loved the ambience and the location was also super convenient with free parking in the back. I'll update my review after my next visit!

3.5 stars We were on…read moreour way home from a road trip and were looking for a great lunch spot on our route, when we came across Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, which was located in the quaint town of Sandy Hook. As we drove through the village, we saw the restaurant on our left-hand side. It was housed in a historical brick building with a sprawling deck overlooking the Pootatuk River. It was a beautifully sunny day, so I immediately suggested that we dine outside. Unfortunately for us, the part of the balcony that was covered and offering live acoustic music was completely full. That meant that we were seated on the far edge of the patio with no shield from the strong sun or any ability to hear the tunes. In addition to the unideal seating, the food took a very long time to arrive, so I just sat there roasting. The server offered to move us inside, but we stuck it out for the view. I had ordered the Fattoush Salad with Chicken. The Mediterranean bowl included mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, kalamata olives, and fried naan croutons, though I had omitted the red onion that was also supposed to be in the blend. I had asked for the red wine vinaigrette on the side and wound up not using much of it. The salad was fresh and tasty, but the chicken had an odd preparation. It was not grilled (like I would have hoped for a healthy salad topper) and not deep-fried, but was roasted or pan-fried or something, which I had not expected. It had a crispy skin, but remained reasonably tender at least. I also grabbed a few of my partner's fries, which were excellent. After we wrapped up the meal, I stopped inside to cool off and use the facilities, which consisted of a singular, unisex bathroom in the corner of the rustic dining room. There was a bit of a line, and they could certainly have benefitted from additional restrooms. I really did like the antique atmosphere at Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, but I think that the heat just made the experience a bit challenging for me. I would definitely consider returning, but would be more diligent in my seating and food selections.

I also had a Caesar Salad that included a well made dressing and freshly made croutons. They have limited but well chosen draught offerings, and a full bar with about 25 stools. The owner, Damir, has operated other successful local restaurants, and brings his experience to bear here. My server, Dickson, was attentive and polite. I had a freshly House made eclair for dessert, which was excellent and properly made. I also had a Keoke Coffee perfectly custom made by Dickson. He wholeheartedly recommended Bora Restaurant. I followed his advice and was not disappointed! Do not judge the book by its cover. It looks plain and unassuming on the outside and took me a few seconds to spot it. (No pic, as I was distracted by my new car!) The inside was nicely appointed. Perhaps too many fake flowers, but maybe not. They seemed to work and add color. I went at 4 pm on a Saturday, so between lunch and dinner. There were people, but no crowds or noise. All I wanted was a good burger. And I got it! I ordered the House Burger: (6 oz?) Marbled Wagyu Beef, Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Bacon, Red Onion, Toasted Brioche, and Special Burger Sauce on the side. (Truthfully, I included all that for your benefit. I only wanted the burger, bacon, and bun with ketchup on the side.) It was delicious! I did manage to snap a pic before I descended upon it like a ravenous Serengeti carnivore... with a modicum of decorum so as not to scare the other guests.
