A rare 5 star from me! We were a party of 6 with a lot of food allergies between us and they could not have been nicer. They gave us a lot of menu suggestions and everyone enjoyed their food. My eggplant sandwich was amazing, The gluten free pizza was so good, the children cleaned their plates. We made room for dessert, I used to live near here many years ago and was excited to see they still had their homemade tiramisu. You absolutely must get it if you stop by here, it is perfect and I haven't had anything like it in the years since. My husband and the other couple got the apple pie which they loved. The lemon sorbet came in the lemon frozen and it was delicious as well. My Place was THE place. As a first-time visitor, the bartender was so friendly and made me feel like I had been frequenting this spot for years. The decor was Italian-themed and very varied. The martini was perfectly made and garnished with jumbo, and salty olives. The coup glass had rounder sides than others and held a great pour. I also was so intrigued by their own infused spirits like vanilla vodka and jalapeño tequila that were featured behind the bar. The menu was diverse and offered a variety of salads, pizzas, pastas, grinders, and more. My entree was delivered hot and swiftly from the kitchen. Everything was delicious and seasoned well. Most importantly, when I inquired with the bartender about allergy restrictions, he was able to clearly articulate the ingredients. We have driven by this restaurant many times before but this was our very first time eating there. We went for a late lunch so it was almost empty, except for a few people at the bar. The place is cozy and welcoming. Our server was friendly and attentive. She talked to us about the history of the place, which used to house the Newtown Post Office a few years back. Wow this place has some good pasta!! I love that it's not your typical pasta dishes too, it's like different and unique. I had a hard time choosing what I want because there were so many good options! The garlic bread they start you off with was so warm and delicious, crispy as well. I got the shrimp margarita pasta, it was creamy with a big of tang, so good. I tried some of my friend's shrimp Gorgonzola and it was delicioussss. Food quality/ price (value) rating 8.5. We sat at the bar, where we received great service. I had a meatball and hot pepper pizza. The crust was a relatively thin NY style crust. The ingredients were all very good quality, but the sauce and cheese was not spread out far enough towards the edges of the pizza for me. The wife had an "I Like Mediterranean" pizza , and the Cajun Chicken salad. Both were very tasty, and the cajun chicken was excellent. They offer 10 different draught beers on tap. Sooooo... good food, ok service, and ok ambiance. If you have needs like my family does (gluten free), don't go here. For whatever reason all of this owners restaurants don't cater to special needs such as gluten free options. Haven't been in years because every time we call, they say "no, sorry no gluten free pasta, pizza or options" other than salad and things that don't require gluten. Hence the 1 *. With Gluten free options this would be between a 3* and a 4* depending on the location. read more

We have been to this location a handful of times, and each time was not great but acceptable, however after my recent experience there is no way I will ever go back. Last Friday we decided at the last minute to go here, and it seems every time we go the owner and her family are having dinner. You have to see this, there is a round table in the back corner, where they all congregate, and they feast like kings, its quite comical, because they are served before the guests even though you arrived much earlier, and the staff is mainly focussed on this table, you the paying customer comes last at this time of day. So we placed our order, and my wife ordered the chicken, and I asked for a margarita pizza, but before I ordered it I asked how it was made, and I explained in full detail how I would like it, fresh mozzarella, no basil. Simple right WRONG. They brought out our meals, and I am looking at what they put out in front of me and this was not what I ordered. They brought out a round piece of dough, with a few slices of tomato, and melted mozzarella. NO SAUCE!!!. So I tried to get someone's attention, and they were all so focused on the round table, and the feast of kings I was ignored. I grabbed someone as they walked by, and our waitress decided to come over, and see what was wrong. I told her this was not what I ordered, she had this dear in the headlights look left and went to the kitchen, and then came back with a menu and made the lamest excuse and said " Well I can't blame the guys in the kitchen, because the menu says 'White Pizza" and that is how its made, it was at this point I was ready to fling this garbage in front of me over to the feast of kings, but then I decided to calm down, and I told her take it away, I can't eat this, its disgusting, and she did. So then my wife says "calm down, and eat some of my chicken, I can't eat all this" so I reluctantly took a taste, and when I tasted it, I looked at my wife and I said "this is good to you" and she didn't respond, I said "this taste like cardboard", she again didn't say anything, I then tried the pasta, and that was edible. We were both ignored all night after the "pizza" incident, then the waitress finally comes over, and asked if we wanted desert, I had to literally bite my tongue, I laughed and said " No we are done, just the check" She hands me the check, I said to my wife do you realize they charged us almost $30 for your meal (chicken), she said I thought it was $24, then I saw the rest, and I was even more disgusted. What disgusted me the most is how the owner just ignored what happened, and continued to feast with her guests. At the end of the day with tip, (yes I tipped, definitely wasn't deserved) $45.00 Chicken dinner with two cokes. Before we left as we exited, I grabbed a handful of mints, and my wife said to me "what are you doing" I said "I need something to take this disgusting taste out of my mouth." This had to be the worst experience I haver expierienced at a restaurant. Never again. Hopefully the owner will realize after reading this that the customer is the most important person in that room, because it is the customer that makes it possible for you to feast like kings at your round table!!!! read more

Salad was literally served to me frozen, like just pulled from the freezer. Frozen lettuce was not edible. Shame because the Italian dressing they put on was actually very good tasting! Great family restaurant for American/Italian food. Attentive wait staff and nice to be able to eat outside under an umbrella. Had the clams and mussels appetizer which was yummy. Sunday Afternoon around 4pm was our first indoor dinning experience. The two of us were the only seated table and their were three or four people at the bar. The bread was fantastic warm and great taste. We ordered calamari as our appetizer and paid the extra for hot cherry peppers. The rings were big and it would have been perfect If their were not more hot cherry peppers than calamari. The calamari was good but not crispy. Our early dinner order was a large lasagna pizza. We waited way too long for that pizza. Our waiter kept walking off to the side / behind our table and not making eye contact. Never came back to fill up our waters / bring another beer I ended up flagging him down on his many attempts not making eye contact to ask for more water. I used this time to ask about our pizza? When our waiter should have let us know how much longer it would be. The pizza came out hot and was yummy!! The bread and pizza kept our early dinner from being one star. read more

As soon as you walk in it's so warm and cozy. The ambiance is so comfortable and laid back. The drinks were beautiful looking and strong. The famous cucumber drink was awesome! Highly recommend that. And now the food...wow wow WOW! Each dish was so flavorful and was devoured. The ravioli presentation could of looked better BUT it was so delicious and the sauce was so good! Have eaten here many times with my partner. It's a comfortable place, one I could see a family coming to (although it's kind of tight quarters), and the staff is very friendly. You can sit at tables in the bar area, in 2 small rooms or in a larger room that's often not open when we're there. There is also outdoor seating with umbrellas, but it can be noisy when trucks rumble by on Queen Street in the heart of Newtown's shopping district. On our most recent visit for lunch, I had the chicken parm and cheesecake for dessert while my partner had a pot of mussels and garlic bread, then carrot cake for dessert. The food is okay, but nothing to rave about. The menu doesn't seem to have changed in quite some time. It offers all the usual favorites. Could the chef come up with some new dishes? We tried here the other night for a spur of the moment dinner and all enjoyed it. It was a pretty warm night so we sat out in their large outdoor seating area to enjoy the nice evening weather. All staff was friendly and attentive. They had some cool specialty drinks and I tried the Blushing Pineapple Martini (think that was the name). It was great... wish I had remembered to take a photo of it. It had infused pineapple vodka (made in house), splash of sour mix, and dash of grenadine. For food we all tried different things- I got a spinach salad with salmon which was really good and I would totally get again. They cooked the fish nicely and their balsamic vinaigrette was tasty on it along with the added things they put on it- craisins, goat cheese, and purple onions. The rest of the family went with more italian fare which they specialize in- chicken parmigiana which my son said was the best, lasagna which my husband said was great and he finished it all, and my youngest was happy to see they had macaroni and cheese which he enjoyed as well. They also have other children's menu items so that was good to see and I would say this is definitely a family friendly place- lots of other families there when we were eating. Overall, I would say this is a cute restaurant in the middle of town with nice outdoor seating, friendly service, and good food. This definitely makes it a place I would recommend if you are in the area and one as a family we will be back to. They also do takeout and have a whole takeout window system that looks pretty well run. We might try that option sometime soon too! read more

Came here after visiting a brewery not far from My Place, and I am glad I did. The waitress, Laurie, was a hoot! She made my friend and I feel like we were long time friends; she was absolutely hilarious! We made small talk in the midst of ordering drinks and food, she gave recommendations on which drinks are good, and was just fantastic. To drink, my friend ordered a french martini (which I got after and it was delicious, not too sweet, just right) and I had the espresso martini which was pretty smooth, and just what I needed to give me energy for my drive home after (over an hour and a half drive, but this place made it worth it and seeing my friend). To eat, I had the Arugula and pear salad with steak and dressing on the side, and it hit the spot. Had the right amount of steak, easy to geab with a fork, overall very tasty. My friend has the Apple roasted salad with grilled chicken, and she as well loved the salad, said it was flavorful and that the chicken was not dry. For dessert, we split a cookie and cream ice cream, which was the cherry on top of the meal. Would definitely come here again, if in the area. read more

My place is one of our favorite places to go as a family. The food is reasonably priced and always delicious! The ambiance is like nothing else in the area. It has a home-like, welcoming feeling. You walk into the take out area where you are greeted with a smile. There is then a few "areas" to sit. There is a room we call the booth room, the bar area with a few tables or the back room which we call the "kids room" which is where we always sit and always meet other families! They give little bread baskets with butter which is a nice touch. The kids portions are HUGE and the entrees are always yummy. They also have pizza which we have tried once and I remember it being good! I ordered a martini and the bartender knew what he was doing. The service is always friendly and they never have a shortage of support staff acting as a real team. Oh and I can't forget the dueling bathrooms!! They have two unisex bathrooms and one is designed with all Yankees gear and the other one is Red Sox which is a nice quirky touch. I highly recommend!!! read more

The takeout (pizza and salad) was very good and the drinks while we waited were decent. Bartender was a trip. Customers were friendly and fun. Great energy here! Beer selection was...odd. Being a long time customer and returning home I was so much looking forward to returning to my old haunt. After looking at the menu prices I wondered if there was new management. I understand increased costs of doing business and recouping lost revenue from the pandemic but seriously? Some friends introduced me to My Place. It is a nice place to go either for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is casual and they seem to have alot of regulars. I have enjoyed myself here. They have REALLY good food. The menu includes everything from salads to sandwiches to burgers to pizza. Since the first time I've been here I have brought both friends and family and they have liked it too. I'd like to talk about the service which is never anything but an A Plus. They don't hover but they always come up and ask us how everything is. I do not think I have been here once without that happening. The thing I really dig about My Place is the atmosphere which is casual but still nice. Now..onto the food! Their pizzas are excellent and have quite an unusual taste. I have also had sandwiches here which have always been good. The one thing I did not love was the burger. My dad however, who is very picky about his burgers liked them very much. I would not say they are not good, they just were not as flavorful as I would have liked. They are in a small plaza and maybe tough to spot at first. Just use the GPS. I have organized a number of events the past few months involving attendance of between 15 to 30 attendees. Either working with Louise or John Tambascio, the experience has always been professional and accommodating. Menu selection and suggestions along with the table set up and decorations are always handled with the patron in mind. On a recent luncheon for a local church group, 24 attendees were seated in the party room. Two wait staff managed the drink orders and lunch menu selections promptly and courteously. John's selection of several menu items was varied and sure to please the group. I received many compliments about the quality of the food and service. As a resident of Newtown for 20 years, I believe in patronizing local restaurants if they offer a great dining experience in a friendly atmosphere.
