This restaurant is in a quaint little house. The decor is simple yet elegant. Very pleasant setting. Came here for a company lunch with 7 people. They crammed us around a table which was surprising that the didn't space us out more considering the current health situation and they had the space to do it. Service: Quite attentive and pleasant. Food: I started out with the day's soup special, lentil vegetable soup. The soup was lukewarm and overall just a step above Campbell's vegetable soup. For the main I ordered the herb crusted rack of lamb. The lamb was cooked to order and tasted good, however, I would not say it was herb crusted, more like herb dollop on top. The sides were cold, while the meat was warm. At $52.00 I would expected every morsel to be top notch. For dessert: Creme Brule, $12 - this was served at room temperature. Taste was OK. As this is one of my favorite desserts, it was disappointing. If they can get the temperature of their foods correct, it would make for a more satisfactory experience. For the food quality and experience, I find this restaurant to be overpriced. I also had a glass of wine, which was good, but to think they charge $60 for a bottle while you can buy at LCBO for $18.00. My virgin experience with this place was a take-out order during pandemics. In general, I experienced four-star quality of food, but just wanted to reward them with five stars for the difficulty to keep up a decent quality during pandemics. Several other restaurants I've tried started to sell really old food with old oils nowdays. We ordered the escargots with baguettes, the fried calamari, the beef flat bread and the hen. - The escargot tasted yummy, and came with really decent portion (about a dozen). The baguette was so amazing that even my ten-month-old baby was keening on it. - The hen was dry, I didn't like it too much. Flavour was okay though. - The beef flat bread had an interesting sweet taste, though the bread was a bit overcooked. - The calamari was awesome. We decided to dine at Hogan's as it was on the way back to town from a long drive north. Also they are open pretty late, so gives us more time to relax! The restaurant is located at the corner of King Rd and Keele St. Parking was easy as you can park on the street in front of the restaurant (ofc if it is not packed) and there is also a parking lot on the other side of the road. The historic restaurant used to be an inn, now there are lots of seating with separate indoor dining areas and a lovely outdoor patio upstairs. They also have a pub downstairs with more outdoor seating. You can see a nice view of the corner street, pub outdoor seating, and the railway from the upstairs patio. We were fortunate to have a very kind and attentive server that evening. His well mannered service added to the pleasant dining experience. We ordered the Wild Mushroom salad, Herb Crusted Ontario Rack of Lambs ($59) and Chilean Sea Bass ($58). The lamb and sea bass were cooked exactly how we expected, with the sea bass especially crispy outside and soft inside. We felt the dishes were a bit pricey and could be improved like the sauce texture but overall there was plentiful portions and delicious. We enjoyed the Sea Bass and the dish's complement to it, so recommended if you want to splurge a lil! (They do have other variety on the menu to choose from.) If you are looking for an intimate restaurant serving delicious food in king city, look no further, Hogan is it! Let talk about the decor, it's super cozy because it's nestled in a renovated house. They have different rooms including an upstairs for larger private parties. We can here in a Saturday night at 6pm and this place is packed! Luckily we made reservations for our party of 6. As for food, we ordered the escargot, grilled squid and beef carpaccio to share. All were delicious, the escargot was my favourite. Super flavourful, perfect to dip the toasted bread in the sauce after. For my main, I ordered the rack of lamb but was brought the lamb shank, they apologized and quickly bought the right orders a few minutes after. The lamb was cooked perfectly to my specification (medium) however, I didn't find the grainy mustard went well with the vinegar jus on the lamb. My friends ordered steak and they quite enjoyed it. As for service, we had to constant ask for our water to be refill which was a bit annoying as there was only one server in our section that night. Not as good as I recall. I had been here for the first time about a year ago for a wedding reception. I remember the food was excellent. That's what caused me to detour from my plans for another lunch place. The restaurant is basically a house, so walking in the front door leaves you in a small area wondering which way to turn. Fortunately, they have a surveillance camera, the only way the staff can see someone enter. I was seated fairly quickly, and presented with a bowl of fresh sourdough bread and butter. That was definitely a good thing, since the wait to place my order was unusually long. The Beef Short Rib arrived quickly, perched on a bed of mashed potatoes with carrots, mini zucchini and broccoli. The beef was "fall off the bone" tender, with great flavour. However, it was a rather small portion for $24, and a good amount was fat. Overall, the flavour was good. I never did see my original server again--another server brought me the cheque and cashed me out. Overall, I was a bit disappointed. My first meal there at the reception was so good, maybe I was expecting the same on a normal day. But looking strictly at value, $24 went for a rather small meal. I left still hungry. read more

We ordered the wild boar chops (the special that day), wild mushroom salad, and pan seared Atlantic salmon. Everything was delicious, and the experience of sitting on their rooftop patio was pleasant. The only reason I'm removing a star is because the olive oil at our table was rancid. Hogan's Inn King City is an amazing historical venue. I came here for the first time today for lunch. I was immediately greeted and set at a waiting table which was beautifully set. A lunch menu had both dinner and lunch options. Everything from burgers 2 steak we're available. I ordered some oysters which were extremely fresh. Followed by a pear and arugula salad which was extremely fresh and tasty. For the mains I tried the burger which was prepared on a a pretzel bun. And I tried the fish and chips which was a house better haddock. Some of the other items which we tried was the pizza, tuna tartare, and a black card feature. All the dishes were very well prepared and plated nicely. The restaurant had an excellent wine selection that wasn't too extensive but had enough variety to go from a $40 bottle of wine all the way up. Desserts were all House made and looked amazing. Hogans is a great cozy restaurant if you want to get away from the city life. I find that it's perfect for special days, and even family dinners as the area where it's situated in isn't too busy, plus there's a lot of greens around. Hogan's have a rooftop patio and another patio downstairs; we chose the rooftop patio as it was a beautiful day. They have a regular menu with a selection of items to choose from, and they also have their specials menu too. Service was awesome as Anna (our server) was very kind and accommodating to us. She was very happy which really boosted my mood. She also did inform us about the wagyu steak being a bit tough, and she also was able to recommend us drinks to start off. I could really feel her energy and honesty when was talking to us. We ordered quite a lot of good, and despite asking for everything to come out at once, the food didn't take too long to arrive (roughly 15-20mins). - The Escargot ($10) was very plump and soft, and the buttered toast that came with it definitely complimented everything together. - The sangrias were both very refreshing, and I was surprised how fruity and pretty they looked (in comparison to a lot of others I've tried). The glass was so full! - The Wagyu steak ($65) was juicy but as Anna warned us, it was a bit tough. - The Tuna Tatar ($21) was very refreshing with a mix of avocado, mango and tuna. They went well with the little pieces of bread that came with it too! - Grilled Atlantic Salmon ($30) was grilled to perfection as the top was slightly crunchy to my liking and I loved how juicy and sweet each bite was! Great service, delicious food and one of the most peaceful patios ever. Okay, so it was probably just peaceful because we were there at three in the afternoon, but it was lovely to sit at the top of a ravine. The only thing that marred the view was the construction of a new retirement home on the highway. They have some local brews as well as your standards, and some tasty options for food. We split a chicken breast burger (the original chicken burger has cheese in it, so they subbed for a perfectly grilled chicken breast). This was super tasty, with some great soft bread and crunchy fries ($13). The service was very professional and quick enough without seeming lazy or obtrusive. Then we shared a tuna tartar, our fav dish. According to our server, she highly recommended it over the escargot, so we did. First of all, that THICK LAYER of spicy Mayo on top truly overpowered the whole light dish, and for God sake, don't know what the chef was thinking that spicy Mayo+ lemon+soya sauce goes well...?......on tuna,mango,avacado..??? Then I ordered a rack of lamb ($42) and he had 8oz steak ($42)....OMG, totally feeling RIP-OFF I have never seen a rack of lamb which was fully seasoned and still put a thick layer of gravy in the bottom in a "fine dining"restaurant. Same as the steak. The whole dish became very salty and I feel like a food court dish would taste better. The steak was not tender but like a TV dinner, the gnocchi on the side was okay I can tell you even that $8 lemon sorbet didn't taste good (tasted very artificial) and don't know why their cream brulee tasted like lemon filling. The server didn't know much about catering, she was nice in general, but didn't know much about the menu. She didn't even removed our plates or the sauces when one dish was over. Although I have frequented Hogan's Pub on a few occasions I had not tried out their restaurant. In short, I wish I had eaten there sooner. Service was great. Staff were very friendly, food was delicious. I had the Mussels in a white Pernod sauce Mmmmm! delicious! We shared a platter of grilled Calamari. Yes I know......I followed this with Pesce Misto di Mare (assorted grilled fish). Didn't realize the portions were so generous. Needless to say I over ate. Yes I was a total Miss Piggy I had dessert .......Creme Caramel and Hogans take on Irish Coffee. Between the wine, good food, dessert I literally rolled out of the restaurant. Awesome foodn nice ambiance. only draw back there is little to no parking. Maybe thats a good thing, a little walk down the road helps to digest all that wonderful food. Plan on going again. There's very few places in Toronto (well the GTA) where u can go for an entirely unexpected experience. Hogan's Inn is one of those few gems. Situated in a historic building built in 1851, the entire experience is transformative. As you enter, the restaurant portion takes you back to dining in the late 19th century. The menu is classic, with surf and turf staples, but has a modern flair to it. The wine bar is a great place to have dessert and catch up on some romance. The pub downstairs boasts the horse breeding history of King city, with beautifully exposed brick walls, live bands playing for the fun of old classic rock, and a great number of good scotches. Service is extremely comfortable and feels mature. It makes you feel like this would be the greatest local if you lived close by. The crowd is older, empty nesters and couples with adult children, but simply out to have a good time. It's very refreshing seeing people have a good time and dance just for the true love of enjoyment, as opposed to wanting to be seen or to make a statement. I highly recommend this place for a different night out. It's absolutely worth the drive (about 45 mins from downtown Toronto), but it would make a great anniversary dinner, special occasion, or anyone seeking a different experience. The last time I came, it was horrific, however, I was reassured by the manager that she would take care of us the next time we came. Went for dinner tonight and unfortunately she was not there. For dinner, we ordered oysters and I could not believe how many of them tasted off . The waiter was so rude questioning my palate ensuring they were fine. They were so off in smell I couldn't believe it went past the chef and onto our table. There were at least 4 of them that were spoiled. Oysters that are not fresh have severe amounts of bacteria. That is not one thing a restaurant should take lightly. I was brought other spoiled oysters to compensate for spoiled oysters. You would think after complaining, the chef would take a second to smell them before sending them to our table. My dad and I both ordered the black cod, the special, that came highly recommended by a manager. We asked for it to not be overly seared and nice and lightly cooked. The bottom of the fish and skin was completely under cooked and the fish was transparent. There's a difference between lightly cooked versus raw. Me and my friend decided to stop by for drinks after work one day. And we totally got blown away by their top notch service and delicious appetizer (we had the grilled calamari). It was so delicious to a point i finished it all before i realize I forgot to take a photo :( Their sangria was also very delicious, unlike the diluted ones out there. I had such a positive experience that I've taken the trouble to post a review on a few different websites. Great ambience and food, and a very courteous owner! I was really impressed by my experience at Hogan's restaurant. It's a really neat, historic spot that I don't think enough people know about. We met the owner who's a really nice guy and he told us that there's even a ghost... named Patricia! We're from Niagara where there are a lot of ghost walks so this was a really fun and intriguing story to hear about. Everything that my husband and I tried was really good. I'm a bit of a salad girl and I love that they offer 3 "serious" salad options at dinner. I always try the kale salad everywhere I go. I'd like to try the mushroom salad next time too which sounds delicious. My husband was excited to see Beef Bourguignon on the menu. A++ Don't hesitate to check this place out. I took my mom and my mother in law here for Mothers Day, and overall I am pretty happy. We were seated after a minute or two and our waiter was with us soon after to take our drink orders. We looked at the list and he recommended we have the pino Grigio. So my mom and mother in law got each a glass. The wine was good, but it was expensive at $28 for two half glasses. The food came shortly after and we ordered calamari fritti, antipasto platter, and the caprese salad. The calamari was great, I really enjoyed it. The antipasto platter is for 2 people it says so he told me he couldn't do it for 3 people so I ended up ordering another one. It was good with grilled veggies, olives, 2 pieces of prosciutto, 4 pieces of salami. It would of been better if it had some cheese as well for the price. The caprese salad wasn't that great. I could make it better myself to be honest and it's not worth $19 for a tomato!! We ordered carrot cake for dessert and Creme Brule to share and they were both very good. I found the waiter to be good, attentive, but not the best. He took his own tip off the top of the bill which if I had the choice I would not of given him $22 tip, but oh well. The bill was $153 for 3 people. I would come here again, I just would stay away from the wine, and I the caprese salad I wouldn't get again. I would order the calamari again for sure. I liked the ambiance, it was cozy but nice and bright inside with nice music playing in tht background. I came here for the first time last week with my friend. Overall, I was quite impressed. We sat in the more formal area. I ordered the penne a la vodka, and she ordered their special of the night. I believe it was gnocchi stuffed with spinach and ricotta in a rose sauce. The food was excellent. My portion was massive, hers wasn't as big, but still filling. We also each got dessert. I had their chocolate truffle cake, and she got the creme brulee. We were both pleased. The truffle cake was quite large, I wasn't expecting such a big portion. As someone who had never been here before, I was upset that they didn't offer us their pub menu. On my way to the washroom, I saw people eating delicious-looking pizza, fries, grilled calamari, and chicken strips. Although my pasta was devine, I would have liked to seen the other options. I'm not sure if there's a second menu, or if the menu is different according to where you sit, or if you just have to ask for the pub menu. But if I return, I'd like to try one of those pizzas! PS: Pretty sure the upstairs level is haunted. That's where the washrooms are located. When I went up there, all the lights were off, and it was totally spooky! We were greeted by a charming hostess, the barman I am not sure of his name was amazing to say the least made me a great dirty Martini, and my husband had his beer while we waited patiently until the restaurant opened we were there at 4:45 Saturday the 28 of November the Christmas decorations were hung up with care the atmosphere super Romantic we sat in the Mackenzie Room. My husband had 10 oz steak and lobster, I had a 2 lobster tails shrimps, scallops along with their house wine as maritimer I can attest that my meal was deliciously beyond expectation my regards to their Chef! My husband finally had a meal that also met his fussy palate. We must Thank Sebastien for a magical evening along with the supporting staff that made the experience a success. They have their hours listed wrong, it says that they are open till 2am however they closed at 10pm, I'm guessing they lie and do this in order to advertise their business online more. I drove a very far distance and I was very upset to come up here and find out that they were closed. If they lied about their hours, then maybe they also lied about other things, never trust a person or a company that lies. Nice location on King City's main strip, quaint little restaurant in an old-fashioned house. Decor was a little antiquated but maybe that's the ambiance they're going for here. Hostess, waitress and manager were all very nice and welcoming. I ordered steak tartare as an appetizer. This was a chef's special that day and isn't always on the menu. Presentation was beautiful, little egg yolk on top of bright red steak, interspersed with capers and chopped onion. Most of the flavor came from the capers and onions, the meat itself seemed a bit bland, but I don't know tartare that well, maybe that's how it's supposed to be? Beef Bourguignon as the entree. Perfectly cooked beef, flaked off easily but solid enough to hold shape, and seasoned well. Side vegetables were also cooked to perfection and cut easily and had a good crunch to them, chef clearly takes care here. Someone else in my party ordered the duck confit, another signature dish of theirs, and I tasted it, tender duck meat and well-seasoned as well. Another person in my party ordered the mushroom risotto, and I had a taste of that too. Amazingly flavored, and a good risotto isn't easy to pull off, A rating for that one. We asked for pepper flakes when we received our entrees, and the waitress said she would bring that out, but also informed us that they also had a hot oil made with crushed chili peppers that the chef makes in-house. We were intrigued so we had her bring this out too. Spice level is intense on this, so eat at your own risk. Luckily the waitress advised us to go slowly on it and see how well we handle it before having more. I loved it though, this stuff was amazing and something I'd come back for. I decided that the hot oil would ruin the flavor of my bourguignon, so I decided to cut up my side veggies and dip those in the oil. Enjoyed every bite of that. Desserts were fantastic. We ordered the cheesecake (their most popular dessert) and the red velvet cake. Cheesecake is their signature and it's possibly the best cheesecake I've ever tasted in my life. Cream cheese was whipped perfectly, very light, fluffy and airy, very unlike the dense heavy filling that cheesecake is normally made with. Amazing, didn't even weigh me down even after appetizer and entree. Red velvet was not as good as the cheesecake but still quite well done. Overall, a great experience and I will come back. Dinner menu is a bit pricey though, and the restaurant didn't seem that busy for a Friday night. The lunch menu is significantly cheaper though, so maybe they're a more popular lunch spot, or maybe most of their business is done through The Hunt Pub located in the basement of the building, which I believe is under the same ownership. Or maybe the dinner menu is just too far out of the price range of most of the locals? Not totally sure about the apparent lack of popularity on this one. They had napkins and cutlery piled on top of bar stools at the upstairs bar, which almost nobody was sitting at, Sign of not being very busy I guess? Didn't look too great though. After staying away for a while my family decided to revisit Hogan's Inn since we found out they're under new ownership. We sat in the renovated upstairs bar area where the tables are a nice wood without table cloths so it's less stuffy and feels very cozy. I wish they would renovate the entire restaurant like this. It's really lovely. The service was good, maybe a little slow but the food was very good. We will definitely return and I'm glad we decided to give it another try. read more

Went to Hogan's to celebrate my brother inlaws birthday. The menu was good, the food was well done. We ordered the Kale and Arugula Salad, Beef Bourguignon, Cornish hen, salmon and a couple of seafood pasta dishes. The waitress was trying but is just not quite there yet, I'm with others about their need for training. The restaurant wasn't busy and when you have to peek around the corner to find someone and ask for something or wait extraordinarily long for water or napkins you've got a long way to go. The biggest problems I had were NOT informing us of the 15% tip that was automatically added to the bill for less than 8 or even 6 adults and the $21- cake cutting charge??? C'mon, charge what you want but be up front about it. This was a sure fire way to ensure we would never be returning no matter how good the food is. Kudos to the chef for sticking around, I'd have split a long time ago. read more

I've been to Hogan's Inn for brunch a few times now, and there really isn't anything in or near King City that can compare. Firstly it's great value for the quantity and quality of food you receive. $28 gives you all you can eat with a great selection of appetizers, mains, and desserts. The lobster bisque was outstanding, as well as the salads. My favourite main is a tie between the eggs Benedict and the corned bee hash, but you really can't go wrong with any of the choices. Finishing off with the Creme Brule or the Bananas Foster closes out one of the best brunches you've ever had. Every brunch menu needs a good Caesar, and the one served here is just awesome. The garnish is almost a meal in itself, and it's not only beautiful to look at but tasty as well. The staff is very friendly, and I've always enjoyed myself there. It's my go to place every weekend for brunch, and I have yet to be disappointed. read more
