Hoggy's did a fantastic job catering our company's summer picnic. From start to finish, their team was incredibly helpful, responsive, and easy to work with. They promptly provided quotes, answered all of our questions, and made the planning process seamless. One of the biggest conveniences was being able to purchase our beer and wine wholesale directly through Hoggy's, which eliminated the need to coordinate with an additional vendor. On the day of the picnic, the setup crew arrived on time, was friendly and professional, and handled the entire setup process for us. They even brought extra "emergency" supplies that came in handy when we realized we had forgotten some of our own items. The food was delicious - especially the corn muffins with honey butter! Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and we received many positive comments throughout the event. Thank you, Hoggy's, for helping make our summer picnic such a success. WOW! I remember Hoggys under their origional owner with locations all over town. Well, the owner's son is bringing the brand back and today's lunch was total nostalgia! Meat is smoked onsite, sides are all house made using the original recipies. What's new is their "chipotle syle" service ( My words not theirs). Pick your meat (pork, brisket, chicken or turkey). Available as 4 ounce or 8 ounce, your base: (salad. Sandwhich bun, on a plate (bulk) or with Mac (I assume that is mac & cheese. Then they had a case of sides. We had the green beans, corn bread, mac and cheese, cole slaw and pickles. I dont know what sides we skipped. This felt like a lot. Oh and we added a wings. 5 for $5 bucks is a deal! I ordered the wingss with BBQ dry rub. The BBQ sauce selection was also part of the process. Do you want mustard based? Vinegar? Brown Sugar? We chose brown sugar and had 2 choices: one was sweet like a Sweet Baby Rays - Cincinnati style, Ithink and the other was sweet and tangy. We each got one of each of the briwn sugar options. Hubs went with tangy BBQ sauce pulled pork sandwhich topped with slaw and pickles. And a side of mac & cheese I ordered the lean brisket (had the option for a fatty cut of meat too) with the sweet BBQ sauce Once we paid at the counter we walked our loaded trays to the table of our choice and then got our drinks from the soda machine. Also available is their origional recipe for iced tea, sweet tea and lemonade. The lemonade was phenomenal! I know I've used that adjective twice in this review. It is well deserved.) We both ordered a cornbread muffin with cinamon honey butter. I have lots to say. First too many choices especially for the BBQ sauce. Tiny samples need to be part of the experience. Im thinking a popsicle stick dipped in the sauce for me to lick would be enough to decide. My salad base included a paper boat of iceburg lettuce topped with shredded cheddar cheese and pickled red onions. I ordered it with Ranch dressing. When I added a little of that Cincinnati sweet brown sugar sauce to the salad - it elevated the salad. Next time I will ask them to chop the brisket. Today it was served as 3 large chucks that I needed to cut to eat. My husbands pulled pork sandwhich started with a freshly buttered and toasted bun. The meat was chopped, and basted with the sweet and tangy brown sugar bbq sauce. They also addded a little pork render (fat) that was chopped into the pork befire piling it on the bun. Hubs put the cole slaw and pickles on the side because he doesnt like them but I do. There were a few other topping options but at the end of the day Hubs like just sauce, meat and bun. The sandwhich was phenomenal! We both loved it. My brisket was equally delicious. Neither of us can say which one was our favorite; pulled pork or brisket. The mac and cheese was a penne type noodle tossed in a cheese sauce but this was dryer. If you want gloopy cheese sauce then this is not for you. As it was, the cheese clung to each noodle. My husband LOVED it; I prefer more of a liquid cheese sauce. The green beans were salty. I wiuld like to see less salt used in the preparation. The corn beead was exceptional! Moist with cinamon in it. Hubs said if you dont like cinnamon then this is not for you. Im not sure I tasted the cinsmon but I only had one bite. Each muffin is served with a side of honey butter. I brought mine home for my son. If he doesnt like it, hubs and I will duke it out. LOL. Update: kiddo liked it Finally the ambience. It was very apparent from signage in the parking lot that the owner saved the Hoggy's restaurant decor. Inside art work was prominently displayed a large Mona Lisa, Girl with a pearl earring and American Gothic replicas each sporting pig noses. You too can pig up your own snout for just $3 from the display table when you walk in. (See what I did there? Pig up a snout LOL). High top seats at the bar are super comfy. The restaurant also had low tops and booths. Larger tables are perfect for families or friend groups. Utensils and napkins are available table side. The utensils look to be plastic but are actually metal - do not throw them away when you clear your table. Hoghys is an absolute 5restaurant. Im so glad we went back! read more

I tried Hoggy's for the first time last weekend. I wasn't super hungry at the time so at the time I only had a few meats and sides. Fast forward to this weekend, gave them a second try without eating lunch. That did the job. I had a bit more appetite and appreciated the food a little better than the prior week. The meats at Hoggy's are smoked for hours. There are a lot of BBQ places in Columbus and this is average for me. I liked the cheesy potatoes and broccoli salad as sides to the ribs. I agree with Mark that the sauces aren't necessary here. I ate my meats (ribs and brisket) without the sauce. There is enough flavor on the meats in my opinion. I know I will be back again soon for more BBQ. I will just have to be more open minded again to trying more. read more

The food here is absolutely amazing. Easily some of the best BBQ in Columbus. Every time I eat here I'm reminded that basically everything is smoked, and you really taste it (in a good way). The smoky flavor is heavy but delicious and honestly reminds me a little of Texas BBQ. Their mac and cheese is hands-down the best in the city. No contest. They also run burger specials on the weekends that are insanely good so good they should honestly be a full-time menu item (and probably cost more). That said... the service and operations are really frustrating. They sell out constantly. Yesterday they were sold out by 4pm. Today at 1pm they were already out of the burger special AND the wings. The food is great, but it feels like you almost can't eat here unless you show up early in the day. Prices are cheap (which is awesome), but it seems like they under-prepare because of it. On top of that, the drink machine has had no ice multiple times I've been in like 4 different visits now. And if someone places a big catering order in front of you, good luck sometimes you're basically stuck waiting forever just to order. I've had someone buy all the brisket right infront of my face. The rough service, constant sell-outs, and small operational issues that hurt the experience If they ever fixed the service and planning side, this place would be close to perfect. read more

I'm a big supporter of Hoggys and I love their innovation and trying to reinvent themselves all the time. Today's visit was a miss food wise. First of all, such great service and staff. Changes they have made, Caesar slaw? Sorry a big miss for me, please bring back the old slaw. Broccoli salad was also a big miss and was one of my favorite sides that they used to have. The biggest disappointment today was the fact that I thought I was getting pulled chicken. Maybe it was a miscommunication or maybe the old pulled chicken is gone but the smoked chicken was unfortunately super dry. Brisket was good as always as well as the pork. Really really really good pulled pork. We called Hoggy's to cater our daughter's graduation celebration. The pulled pork and the mac and cheese were the highlights. I had this sandwich on my BUCKET LIST for a very long time but two things delayed me from doing it: Location and cost. Sammy is $22 so I was skeptical of you got taste and bang for your buck. I decided to MAN UP, travel over there and give it a go and BOY OH BOY IT WAS DEFINITELY WORTH IT! When ordering the sandwich they ask you if you want it LEAN or FATTY for your brisket. I'm most definitely team FATTY. They adorn the sandwich with two to three big thick juicy moist pieces of brisket with ooey gooey lip smacking queso and some sort of carmelized bacon or onion jam. WHOEVER thought up these flavor combinations SNAPPED in a good way! There is no one nowhere taking flavor combinations this bold with their bbq in the area like these folks! This sandwich makes me wanna try other stuff on the menu as well. The cornbread was sweet and moist, the butter was unique with some great flavors and the mac was on point. Food was very tasty! Got the wings in the Columbus sauce which is a mustard bbq type deal. Only issue I had was I wished there was a little more sauce on them. Queso brisket sandwich is delicious! cornbread is very moist and delicious! The cookies are made with beef tallow and are very delicious sweet and salty. This was my first time here, I enjoyed the food. The meet was nice and soft, the potato salad was just how I like it, the Mac and cheese was very good, and the bbq sauce had good flavor. The place was very clean and I like the decor of the place. I will say I did think the service was very slow but they did apologize for my wait, when I was one of 2 people there at 3:30. I did have a bit of a weird conversation with one of the employees when they came over to my table too about going to a bar. The food was awesome. I travel for work and get to try a lot of BBQ. This place will stack up against any big time Texas BBQ joints. Brisket and turkey were wonderful, but the pulled pork was awesome. Mac and cheese was just like the wife's home made Mac. The beans were the standout with the sides. The banana pudding and tallow chocolate chip cookie were insanely good. Everything I got was almost half the cost of what I get in TX. The woman working the counter at 2:30pm on 4/17 needs an attitude adjustment. I came in to get a container of sauce, that's it. Should be 5 minutes in and out. The two men in front of me didn't know what they wanted so I asked if I could go ahead of them while they decided. They were more than willing and said "yes please, go ahead." The lady behind the counter pointed her finger at me and said "NO! You get back in line and wait your turn like everyone else!". So rude and I've been a pretty loyal customer since their location opened and closed in Grandview. I'm glad I drove from Grove City to be treated so rudely over a container of sauce that would've been the easiest money you would've made all day. If you don't like your job or have zero customer service skills, don't work in a restaurant setting. Mind you, the people in front of me said it was ok to go ahead of them because all I was getting was sauce. There was nobody waiting behind me. My transaction would've taken 2 minutes. We need to put Ohio bbq on the map! I've had bbq in Texas, Kansas City, Carolina, and Hoggy's is truly a standout spot. We got the Grazer Platter with brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork. I loved the options of adding toppings like pickles, onions, candied jalapeños, etc. The toasted buns were fantastic, I really dislike the cold plain white bread that other bbq joints include. Plus, the cornbread muffins were so moist and had real bits of corn. The meat- loved it all. We got the lean cut of brisket (they sold out of fatty cut), and it was still pretty good. The pork ribs were my favorite, fall off the bone, smoky, delicious. My fiancé loved the pull pork and he's not usually a pulled pork type of guy. Absolutely fantastic and we both left thoroughly impressed. The sides were great too, loved the baked beans and potato salad, but to be honest we both weren't a fan of the Mac & cheese. I gotta tell you gang this is by far the best barbecue and that I've had since we moved to this state that has no culinary expertise outside of chef Michael Simon. I got the three meat platter.. Visited Hoggy's with my dad and brother after an OSU win. It was not the adrenaline from the win, this was hands down the best BBQ all three of us had ever eaten. I haven't been to Hoggy's since their last version of restaurants, at least 15-20 years ago, so I decided to go Saturday night. Boy was I glad I did. First thing I can say is the staff, Zach, Fender, and Taylor were all very welcoming and knowledgeable of their food. Bob, the GM even came over and chatted a little while. I felt very at home. The food was very, very tasty. I got the smoked wings with the Hogfire hot sauce, and a side of ranch. If you enjoy smoked meat, this place is for you. I stole a little piece of brisket from my son when he wasn't looking and it was very tender. Delicious. My wife wanted me to pick her something up so I got her the smoked turkey sandwich, which was HUGE. She loved it. And one of the sides was cheesy potatoes. I'm not ashamed to say, I could just go and get a ton of those potatoes for a meal alone and be happy. It's just that good. Go and check this place out, everyone. He did ask if I wanted fatty or lean brisket which was a great option and my lean brisket was pretty lean. My brisket was very tasty. The salad was fresh but uninspired - a little lettuce, a little cherry tomato, some shredded yellow cheese, something else - maybe pickled onion. But I get it - it's a meat restaurant. Service was instantaneous. One thing that bothered me was the music! It was not just awful and pretty hard to talk over but it also would intermittently get even louder - which some music does, but that's not what you should have playing in your restaurant. read more

Definitely my favorite BBQ place in Central Ohio. I will NOT eat brisket anywhere else, as this is the best brisket I have ever had & I just end up disappointed, if I eat it elsewhere. I've been following their account on Instagram for about six months to a year now. Finally got a chance to make it up here today. I tried the brisket, Philly cheesy potatoes, baked beans and their smoked wings with the Texas Pete hot sauce. These might be my favorite wings in Columbus. Best ribs in Columbus! We haven't been to Hoggy's since they left Grove City, we were happy to see them again. You walk in and the smell of bbq is unmistakeable. I ordered the full rack of ribs, cheesy potato's and corn muffin. Ribs were super tender with a killer bark that had tons of flavor! Cheesy potato's were great, not a mashed potato but not scallop potato either... really good. My wife had the Mac n cheese and it was there same excellent flavor that we remembered. Oh yeah we went for the 95 cent wings and forgot to order them. A staff member came around and asked how everything was and I asked to get two wings and he brought them out at no charge. I travel around the country quite a bit and look for stand out BBQ. Hoggy's is one of the best I've had! We sampled several items off their menu and nothing disappointed. It's clear they put a lot of work and heart into what they do. They go beyond typical BBQ menu items and offer creative items with lots of flavor (like the Brisket Queso sandwich which is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had). Their sides aren't after thoughts like a lot of BBQ restaurants and really make the meals they offer pop. Wish the wings were a little crispier though * Ribs: the meat was tender and easily fell off the bone~ * Brisket: it was cooked so well and the fat just melted too! * Pulled pork: the meat was flavorful and the texture was pefect~ * Pulled chicken: the sauce was good but the meat was slightly dry * Side dishes: a variety of great additions to the bbq meat. My favorites were cheesy potatoes and baked beans~ Pig Mac: layers of pulled pork, bacon, pimento cheese, and mac sauce, yummm Brisket Chili Bowl: mac and cheese, brisket, bacon, baked beans, pickled jalapeños, and spicy bbq sauce. Different layers of textures and flavors~ you can also select other bbq meat and sauce for the macbowl instead. Overall pretty great!
