I visited this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I love it already. Firstly, it's one of the most affordable poke places I've been to but in no way is the food any lower quality than anywhere else. I love how the bowls are served. The variety of ingredients is amazing. The portions are generous and the food is delicious and fresh. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I have nothing negative to say about Hoki Poki. read more

I tried out this place for the first time yesterday. I was excited since it had crazy reviews and the place didn't disappoint. You get a good portion size for the price. The place was clean and it's nothing different from any other poke place I've tried. The amount of meat that's in the bowl is slightly less than other places I've tried but nothing to complain about. Will definitely go back to this place read more

I remember being fairly unimpressed with this place when it first opened; my bowl was salty and the fish portions were poor. I can definitely say that they have improved a lot since then! The portions are a lot better and I enjoy the black trays they serve their poké. I wish they had a different serving method for the mini poké bowl though haha. Poké in general here is fairly average in my opinion; not one of the best but not the worst. Staff is extremely friendly as well. I say that if you're in the area, it's a good place to get your poké fix. read more

My wife found this place online recently, and I decided to give the place a whirl after finding our local Tokyo Joe's had closed. I was new to the poke bowl concept, and thankfully the gal behind the counter realized that and happily walked us through it. It's sort of like Chipotle in that you walk through the line and choose from various ingredients to assemble your small or large bowl. We each got a large bowl, and though the size seemed a little small to my eyes, it filled me up, and tasted as good as it looked. They had some newspaper/magazine clippings about their recent accolades, I'd say they're well-earned. read more

I come here a lot... The Good: - Ingredients are very fresh: veggies, sushi, you name it. - Something about that rice! It's delicious! Splash a little soy sauce on it and, oooh weee. I always order the brown rice and it's on point. - Staff is very friendly. I've always really enjoyed them any time I've gone in. - Convenience. This is local to a lot of neighborhoods as well as UTD therefore it's very easy to pop in if you need a poke fix. - Price. Not a bad price for poke, I've never walked out of there thinking that my meal wasn't worth what I paid. The Opportunities: - Portions. I see people saying that the portions are good (and maybe I just eat alot?) but I wish the "Regular" size bowl was slightly bigger. I always eat the entire thing and wish there was just a tiny bit more of the sushi and sides. - Variety of mix-ins. I love what they already offer but I do wish there were slightly more options of veggies, etc. to mix in with my sushi. Overall I recommend Hoki Poki and I will keep coming back (seriously... I stop in like once a week, haha). read more

Store overview: Located just minutes away from the University of Texas at Dallas, Hoki Poki serves fresh and delicious dishes of poke bowls and burritos. When my mom and I first walked in, her initial reaction was, "Wow, there aren't that many people here [during the lunch hours]. I wonder if the fish will be fresh." And, indeed it was. However, because I do not have any prior experience with poke, I cannot compare the flavor to any other poke restaurants or dishes. Service: The process is quick and simple, especially with the man who prepared our food. He was kind, helpful, and patient, and was funny, too. It was a six-step process: (1) Choose your base of white or brown rice; (2) Choose your two sides; (3) Choose your proteins - number of scoops varies; (4) Choose mix-ins; (5) Choose your sauces; (6) Choose any additional toppings or sides, which include avocado for an extra dollar. Food/Pricing: I ordered the Poke Burrito (~$8) with one scoop of brown rice, sides of seaweed salad and imitation crab meat, two scoops of spicy tuna - the maximum number of scoops you can have with the burrito - plenty of mix-ins (cucumber, carrot, pineapple, sesame, etc.), and both the eel sauce and spicy mayo. This is my favorite combination because the freshness and spiciness of the tuna mixed with the tanginess and crunchiness of the pineapple and vegetables and the delicious, housemade sauces. My mom ordered the regular poke bowl (~9) with four (?) scoops of brown rice, sides of corn and crab meat, three proteins (spicy tuna, salmon, and braised rib), all of the mix-ins, and the kiwi tango sauce. She really enjoyed her dish, but she also pointed out that while it tasted good, it did not live up to her expectations, which I agree with since the ratings on their Yelp page are high and positive. Environment: Another reason why my review is not a perfect five-star rating, aside from the food, is the quality of the restaurant itself. The surrounding businesses appear to be on the older, sketchier side, but that does not bother me too much since I practically grew up in these areas. However, it might steer some foodies away. Anyways, for the interior, it is clean yet plain, and the drink machine needs to be upgraded or repaired because it seems to be out of everything, even water. Overall, my experience at Hoki Poki was great with the service exceeding my expectations. The freshness of the fish is excellent and ideal, and while there are a couple simple fixes, I would personally overlook them and continue eating here. read more

Amazing and fresh. Poke bowls is a new trend and this place certainly lives up to the hype. Sushi lovers delight. Friendly staff and generous helpings. It's a 15 minute drive from my office but worth it! I now crave it. Will be back in a few days. read more

Not sure why this place has so many positive reviews.... I went there with a friend we both ordered the mini bowl for $11.99 and what we got was basically a snack. Each thing the staff would put was just a tiny piece of food I literally scoffed. I would definitely not recommend going here at all. Overpriced AF read more

I hate that I went to this place...because I don't live around this area and as I am typing this, I wish I could be eating another "poke burrito" right now. The whole poke trend is nothing new to me, as one of my most visited place in Arlington is a poke bowl joint. However, Hoki Poki blew my favorite place out of the water. Already being used to poke being in a bowl, I wanted to venture out and try the burrito style instead. The portion for the poke burrito is smaller than a regular size ( since this has less rice and only 2 scoops of protein instead of 3). Comparing freshness level of the sashimi salmon, Hoki Poki's is so much more fresh. I can't speak for the tuna of either places, as I am allergic. Another must have for me is seaweed salad, and I love the one here. The seaweed salad is not overly salty and has a mild vinegar flavor, which I much prefer over a pungent vinegar-filled seaweed salad. Lastly, to tie any poke dish together, the sauce has to be bomb and these flavors are atomic! The spicy sauce is not deadly, but it'll leave a slight tinggling feeling on your tongue. The spicy mayo is always a classic, and their poke sauce is not overly salty - allowing protein and topping flavors to shine through, instead of masking them. Overall, I highly love this place. Customer service was also very friendly. My only con is despite having a small appetite, the poke burrito did not fill me...and it was $9 total. Maybe next time I'll just go for the poke bowl instead, but hey, the poke burrito was worth a try! read more

If you're looking for authentic Hawaiian poke, this is not the place. It's kind of like a Subway for poke in that you choose you're fish and veges and rice that you want in it which is a cool concept. They also have bulgogi and a teriyaki option. I had a bulgogi and salmon poke bowl was disappointed in the portions of the salmon. It was a small ice cream scoop of salmon, almost minced, and the bulgogi was previously cooked and heated in the oven. Like i said, if you're expecting authentic Hawaiian poke you're not going to get that here. So.. if youve never been to Hawaii... Don't set this as the standard expectation of poke is like there. On the pro side.... place is clean. People are friendly. Location is great. Bowls look good. I like how you have a choice of sauces.... But all in all, probably won't come back unless someone else really wants to go read more

Not sure why this is rated so high, the quality of ingredients is sub-par compared to other DFW poke bowl spots. I felt like I had to really specify how much of each ingredient I wanted in my bowl, whereas the employee should've known not to put a huge glob of an ingredient (for example, white onions). I felt like the krab salad was not prepared properly and the rice is not sushi rice (or lower quality sushi rice), which would've made this better. The fish quality is also ok, grocery store sushi roll fish quality. I would rate this a solid 2.5, not bad but not good. I won't be returning. Below 40 is a better option and around the same price. read more

Favorite Poke place in all of the DFW area. Jaesung who is usually working is ALWAYS super friendly and does everything with a smile. My fiancee and I come here pretty regularly just because the food quality is always consistent. This restaurant does the poke bowl chipotle style so that you're able to slightly control the rationing of what you're including. The space is decently sized and good for groups as it doesn't get TOO TOO busy; it's not really a sit down and stay for a few hours type of restaurant. It's also ALWAYS clean here. The parking lot has tons of parking. Quick and fulfilling bite with plenty of options. Would definitely recommend this poke eatery to anyone in the area. read more

After reading very good reviews on yelp, I decided to try it. Because I had already disappointed with below 40. When I entered the door, two staffs greeted us and explained how we could order. So these two stars would go to the friendly staffs. The ingredients didn't look fresh. When I got a bowl, these were covered by sauce. But I still couldn't finish my bowl. Miso soup was lukewarm and flavorless. I don't think I will go again. read more

This place is amazing! I was introduced to Hoki Poki by a friend and I am so happy she took me here. We had the poki bowl and it was incredible. The crab meat is so delicious and all the proteins were very fresh. The spicy tuna is good but is exactly that, a little spicy. We made our bowl mild and it had a good kick to it. I will probably just stick to regular tuna next time because I do not really eat spicy foods. If you get a poki bowl make sure to add the eel sauce and spicy mayo. The only negative is the $1 upcharge for the avocado. The amount of avocado they give you is very small. Miso soup is also good. They put a good amount of the sea weed and tofu so you are not just drinking the soup. Service is great as well. They were very nice and helped explain the process and how to order. I would absolutely recommend Hoki Poki and will be back! read more

The staff at this restaurant were very pleasant and greeted me and my coworker with a smile. The veggies were fresh and the sauces and toppings had great flavor; however, the chicken was cooked then reheated and was mediocre at best. It had potential and is worth another chance but not a place that overly impressed. read more

This is def a hole in the wall place but the food is good. They have three different bowl sizes for your poke bowl which is great because they have a mini size if you are craving but just want a small portion. The fish tasted fresh and they have an assortment of mix ins and topping for you to choose from. The workers here are very friendly and happy to answer any questions you have. They also serve sushi burrito here! Not many poke places have that option. This place is also next to sweet daze so u can get your poke fix and get dessert after! read more

So I know this is a poke place but is it strange that I liked the braised ribs more than the poke? When the server said I could get a braised rib as a protein option I couldn't pass that up. Sure...why not...let's do surf and turf...LOL. The rib isn't fancy by any means nor was it mind blowing but it was a solid item. It was tender and flavorful. Overall, service was great and owners were really friendly so if I'm in the area again I wouldn't mind stopping by to try other things. read more

The staff were nice but I'm not impressed with the food. If you want good poke go to Fast Furious or Below 40. Their portions are small. You get 3 scoops of fish. At first I thought, "Wow, that's a lot." Then I saw the scooper. I wanted some shrimp and even though they were tiny shrimps I would of gotten only 2 shrimps from the scooper. That's how small the scooper is! The shrimp didn't even look fresh. It looked like they got the pre-peeled and pre-cooked shrimp bag at Walmart. The temperature of the poke was off, it was completely warm. Eating raw fish when it's warm is very slimy and gooey. I think the hot rice caused it to happen. I'm giving them a 2 because their staff are very sweet, but other than that I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

Basically not tacky. Right out of the gate we have the Sake Tower which I found it very on point with how good it tasted. It has the right amount of acidity and sweetness with every bite. On top of that the the aloha mini meal did not disappoint . The chicken was never dry and the rice tasted just so soft it almost felt like it would melt in your mouth . It was the only ramen on the menu that I could have (again not what I was told when I called). I asked for soy sauce, chili oil and even dumped the leftover sauce from my tempura into the liquid broth and still it could not be saved. The black garlic broth was also bland. Neither of us finished the meal. Service was slow, only one girl working the entire dining room, (it was a weekend so packed).
