The food was really good! We had two bowls, chicken egg rolls, pork gyoza, money bags, and two different sushi rolls. The sushi rolls took a little long to come out but it was also perfect timing since we finished our bowls and then it came out. Staff was very polite and the overall building was clean and bright.

Yum! I placed an online order and it was ready quickly. It was delicious. Plenty of food for two meals. The establishment looked nice on the inside but I took it to go. Will definitely return for more food!

Went to Hokibar with my wife on a sunday evening! There were 4 people outside of us there so seating was an easy find. Their electric menu screen makes it super easy to order and customize what you want for a meal which was super convenient! The service, given the amount of people was a little slow but the food was made well prepared! I got the teriyaki chicken bowl and it was great! I enjoyed the tang with other less tangy ingredients like avocado to balance it out. Overall really enjoyed our experience!

This is the only poke place I've been to dozens of time in the KC area. Even if it's a 20 min drive, it's worth it to me. I love that they don't limit your toppings. You can add as much as you want. Their sauces are especially good too. I love getting the hoki rice / lettuce + sesame sauce dressing. I'm always greeted with a smile as well. They definitely recognize me because of how many times I've been here haha. It's so worth it. If you have been thinking of going, please do.

Stopped by for lunch in a group of 5 people. You walk in and place your order on a computer monitor on a wall as you enter. I was impressed with the large selection of options for different types of rice (I went with brown). They also had a ton of protein, garnish, and sauce options. We placed our order and sat down. Eventually they brought us our food. While they got our proteins correct for each of us, they made lots of mistakes with the toppings. We all got some toppings we didn't ask for and some we asked for and didn't get. The poke bowls were really good despite the mistakes. I can see why this place is popular.

Very efficient and tasty poke bowl spot. You order from a computer when you walk in and the plentiful employees take care of the rest - I know this isn't typical, but it's fast and allows any sort of customization that you want (particularly useful for poke!) We found the food incredibly fresh, at respectable portion sizes for the cost, and all the ingredients were spot on in flavor. We did not try the boba tea, but I bet it's excellent. The dining area was bright, clean, and large. Hint: complementary water and miso soup in the back! We would easily return here.

Came here for the first time and really liked it. i had some sushi and everything tasted really fresh. The staff were friendly, and the place felt clean and laid back. The patio was nice too with music in the background. I'd definitely come back.

Went with the build your own poke bowl option. Food was really good. Lobster and spicy tuna rolls were also fantastic.

I'm not a sushi gal, but something about this baked lobster roll got me questioning that statement. It was SO yummy!! I think the baked fish on top made it less "sushi" tasting for me than i'd it would've been if it was raw fish. I wish I got more; I ate it so fast. My friend got the taro milk tea and I also thought it was tasty, tasted like cereal milk. The service was good- the lady working even directed us towards free miso soup. The place was cute inside and out. We ate outside under some cute lights fixtures.

YUM YUM YUM! Finally, I found a delicious poke spot that fits all my poke needs. When I say poke needs, I mean every single topping I can imagine all mixed into my bowl, alongside my favorite proteins (salmon and tuna), as well as a delicious sesame dressing. I ordered via Doordash, so I didn't get to see the actual place itself. But the service for getting my bowl ready, picked up, and brought to me was super quick! I ordered a build your own bowl, and obviously, based on the photo, there's PLENTY in there. I love that the "crab salad" is considered a mix in instead of a protein, and they have a spicy crab too! I get nervous finding new delish spots to eat at, because I'm pretty sure you're going to see me here weekly!

I love poke and was excited to see hokibar open up a location near me. I visited on a Saturday night. Ordering is straightforward on the kiosk. I noticed the restaurant was very clean and well maintained. The service was good and my order was delivered promptly. I decided on ordering one of the signature bowls, the Kansas City Bowl. Everything in the bowl tasted fresh, and I thought it was a nice combination of flavors. It is a little on the pricier end, but I left satisfied with the amount of food in the bowl. Perfect amount for me to leave satisfied but not too full. One thing I would've liked would've been more sauce in the bowl. It has mango salsa listed for the Kansas City Bowl. It seemed a little dry to me. I'll probably tweak my order a bit next time. I also ordered a Thai bubble tea. Unfortunately, after I already ordered I was noticed they were out of boba. I was offered other options and picked the rainbow jellies. I was not a fan of those and you really get a lot of them! I still finished the tea and thought the tea options paired nicely with the bowl. I plan on adding hokibar to my regular rotation of takeout spots!

I loved the great variety of healthy cooked and raw proteins, bases, toppings and sauces available at this new restaurant, which offers poke bowls (signature and custom) and sushi. I also enjoyed the first-rate service. My regular (6" x 2.5") two protein custom poke bowl ($13.99) was built to order at the counter. The ordering process was very customer friendly, with good labeling of the various options at each stage (bases, sauces, proteins and toppings). The salmon bowl popped with flavor from the many fresh ingredients. I also liked the complimentary miso soup. I was impressed with the great selection of proteins including salmon, octopus, ahi tuna, shrimp, scallops, beef tataki and Spam. I also liked the great selection of healthy bases and toppings including brown rice, kale, spinach, Spring mix, seaweed, cucumbers, chickpeas, takuan, tamagoyaki, mango salsa, ginger, etc. I only noticed two items with an upcharge (eel and avocado). All but 13 items were gluten-free and clearly marked as such. I found the service to be polite, cheerful and efficient, while the dining area was clean, basic and nice with upbeat contemporary background music. I also noticed a patio. I hope they offer a loyalty program and discount offers. Also, bigger protein scoops would be nice. Overall, excellent!

While we didn't have to wait for a table, almost all of them were full when we arrived. Ika is a smaller space in a strip mall off of 119 in Leewood, so there's not a ton of seating but the restaurant went further back than where we sat so there's probably more room than I could see. The kitchen/sushi bar is right up front when you walk in and takes up a good amount of room toward the front but it's aesthetically pleasing. The decor was very nice and everything was clean. They have a big chalk board near the front door, on the wall with their specials. They have quite a few. The menu is very large and our server came over about 5 minutes after we were seated. We ordered some edamame but asked for some more time to look at the menu. When the edamame came out, we placed our order. We decided to both get a side salad with ginger dressing and share two of their special rolls. We got one of the specials off the board, the Hidden Dragon. It was really good and by far my favorite out of the 2 rolls we got. My friend also really liked this roll and thought it was the better of the two. The other roll we got was the Rainbow which is a California roll topped with various types of fish. Neither of us are big fans of salmon so we asked for it to be left off. I didn't really like this roll. I normally love tuna but I prefer it cut a bit thinner and I'm used to it almost having a butter texture where it melts in your mouth. I'm not sure what was going on but all of the tuna had a very strong flavor and yes, I'll say it was fishy. I realize some people like that but I don't. Maybe it was the Hamachi (yellowtail) but it was not for me. I tried 2 pieces and that was enough. My friend liked it better than me but definitely preferred the Hidden Dragon too. I would probably give them a 3.5 if that was an option because the Hidden Dragon roll was very good. The service was efficient and quick. Not overly friendly. They never even acknowledged my friend's bday even though she was opening gifts and we sat a small birthday pop up paper cake card on the table. Not that we expected anything but maybe just a comment about her birthday. Maybe they were too rushed for anything extra. My disappointment in the tuna on the Rainbow roll is my reason for the lower rating. The rolls are $18 each so getting one I really couldn't eat is unfortunate. They also use the crab salad and not just a piece of crab in their rolls. I prefer the latter because I'm not too fond of all the extra mayo from the crab salad. I missed taking pics of our rolls! The Hidden Dragon looked fantastic and the Rainbow looked better than it tasted, lol. My friend still enjoyed her afternoon birthday lunch! I would possibly try them again to explore something else on the menu since there were so many options but I won't go out of my way to return.

Then we sat down at the teppanyaki table, and things went south faster than a dropped egg. Our server was solid, but the "chef" was a total trainwreck. It felt like we were an inconvenience to his schedule. He just rushed through the motions with zero engagement, like he was checking off a grocery list instead of actually cooking for people. The "Highlights" (and I use that term loosely): The Timing: I ordered the steak and scallops. He finished my steak before the rice even hit the grill. My cow just sat there getting cold while we watched him "work." The Culinary Wisdom: When one of us asked if the beef was a strip or a ribeye, he literally just said, "It's steak." Cool. Glad we cleared that up. The Cross-Contamination Special: We had a vegetarian in the group. He proceeded to cook her tofu directly in the steak juice. Truly a "chef's kiss" moment if you hate your customers. The Doneness (or lack thereof): The salmon was basically still swimming (raw), and the scallops were charred and tasted like fire and brimstone. The Mussels: I grabbed a side of green mussels. They were... fine? I've had much better elsewhere in town, but they were the Olympic gold medalists of my meal by default. The Silver Lining? The Sake. It came in a take-home glass, was incredibly easy to drink, and was 100% necessary to get through the rest of the experience. I can't speak for the sushi, but if it's handled with the same "I don't want to be here" energy as the teppanyaki, I'd stay far, far away. Two stars only because the hostess was nice and the Sake did its job.
