This particular Publix is just off of Interstate 65 in Decatur, Alabama. The staff was friendly and the store is nicely laid out and has a pleasant ambiance which makes shopping all the better. Publix has created a solid reputation by offering incredible customer service, great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals, and no review of Publix would be complete without mentioning their subs, which are affectionately known as "Pub Subs." Coming from New Jersey, a state known for their great subs, in a way, it hurts me to state that a supermarket has some of the best subs in the area. But it is also a 100% true statement. Publix subs are very good. My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering. I also enjoy their roast beef and cheese sub. I would definitely recommend upgrading it by using Boar's Head meat. It is definitely worth the small upcharge. It is great to see Publix expanding beyond the boundaries of their home state of Florida and spreading throughout the southeast. I would definitely recommend this particular Publix location.

Among the Pan Dulces (Conchas, Ojo de Buyes, and such), we espied something similar enough to Chocolate-covered Doughnuts to make us kill for it. But we had a bag of goodies we'd already purchased and somehow staved ourselves off. Formerly at 6th Avenue, LEF&FM is a must visit. Oddly, four of the other Supermercados are within walking distance and thus in direct competition, a move seemingly both unwarranted and unwise, unless a concentrated Hispanic population in the immediate area ensures their collective viability. I can't say. The first items you'll notice as you walk in are the greens and such in the well-stocked and eye-catching produce area, and the atmosphere was well ratcheted up in our estimation due to the fact that the employees were all friendly. LEF&FM had a wonderful dairy department, stocked with Queso this, Quesillo that, Quesadillo these, and Crema those. Some cheeses had Jalapeno, others, Loroco, which is evidently a flower bud of Central American origin. The popular Cotija Molido, which is merely grated Cotija, was also evident. It's one of the crumbly cheese you'll see in Mexican food...in fact, I believe it's one of the ones of which you might say, "Why doesn't it melt?" In addition to the bakery and dairy areas, the display of "soda pops" (to import a term) and such was better than average. Yes, they have Jarritos, but also have Foco, Boing!, Tiky, and several others, some of which are actually Asian in origin, rather than Mexican or South American. We are already talking about returning here...and that's a thirty-plus-minute trip. And we won't come back empty handed. Possibly in a sugary haze, but not empty handed.

The staff was friendly and the store had the usual selection one would expect from a Kroger supermarket. I grabbed a few of their flavored sparkling waters and I also bought their spicy beer mustard. I have to say that I was quite impressed after trying this supermarket brand of mustard. All in all, I find this a good location of Kroger and would definitely recommend here.

They have a nice selection of food and grocery items, though not as much as you might find at a larger supermarket chain like Kroger or Publix. I do like that you can find more regional brands and merchandise that you might not find in those before mentioned supermarkets. If you are in the Priceville, Alabama area, I would recommend coming to this particular Foodland.

I found some Maple Syrup/Pecan Instant Oatmeal for $1.74 and some health bars for $1.39, The frozen section had some nice products like choice steaks and burgers..the dessert section was meh. It felt airy and peaceful and I could easily see myself catching up with a friend or reading or something. They have a midsize coffee menu, serve Piper and Leaf tea, and have some typical coffeeshop snacks (pastries, etc). One nice feature is a fridge with take and bake type meals and appetizers. That can prove really useful in a pinch! Service was extra nice here: welcoming smiles, patient with questions, and working efficiently. I appreciated that you can actually order a small iced coffee here. Many places only do iced in medium or large portion sizes. The small was just enough to perk me up for the ride home, but not so much I'd have to stop for a restroom, lol. I ordered an iced peppermint mocha as that's pretty much my favorite coffee drink of all time. This one was a good one! Not too strong on the peppermint and a discernible - maybe even stronger than average - chocolatey taste. Like a liquid thin mint! :) I enjoyed my drink on my drive home and look forward to returning for more next time I find myself in the area.
