We rented a 25 hp whaler for Saturday over Labor Day weekend and had a great time. Dede, Paul, and Smitty went over the lake charts with us, showed us some good spots, and even invited us to a customer appreciation event later that night. Everyone was really friendly. I gave this place a try as it was under new ownership. It looked like they were trying to do something unique and provide some good services - free ice with fill-up, a café, reasonably priced gas to name a few. After a few visits it became clear that this place was a circus - constantly disorganized and unable to follow through on simple requests for service. I made the mistake of having them do service on my boat (which they outsource to someone off site). The result - it came back in worse shape than when it went in. All the other niceties they are trying cannot compensate for the inability to provide competent marine services. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

Horrible Experience, (and Charged Credit Card Twice!!) Horrible experience renting from Holderness Harbor. Rented a 20' pontoon boat; arrived and the original boat was not available, ended up getting a smaller boat that fit less people. Almost didn't notice! the new boat didn't have a ladder on it! Was told by multiple staff that the ladder had broken and that management was refusing to replace it.. I don't know how they expect people to get out of the water onto a deck that is 2 feet off of the water without a ladder. Seems like drowning might me more of a liability. To top it off my credit card was charged twice!! They have not returned my calls and I am having to deal with my CC company to dispute the charges. The only positives were upbeat junior staff, a great handyman, and a golden retriever puppy. Unprofessional. Unreasonable. and a overall regrettable experience. STAY AWAY. read more

All of these negative comments are not at all my experience with Holderness Harbor. They are extremely well organized and the facilities are spotless. The staff and manager are skilled at making customers feel welcome and meeting their needs. Don't be guided by the negative reviews. These are from people who plan poorly for their days boating and bring a privileged attitude with them from wherever they come from. I have been boating on Squam and Marthas Vineyard for 40 years. My dealings with Holderness Harbor have been nothing but positive. Just try elsewhere before you tell people to go elsewhere. read more

In July, we rented a boat from Holderness a Harbor. We have a boat with a slightly larger motor but our truck was in the shop. My husband, who has his N.H. boating license, was surprised by how little power the motor had, and wondered if it had an issue, but as my son was visiting, and we were just out for a nice day on the lake, we didn't care if we just putted along. Squad Lake was very low that day and we nicked an unmarked rock. It didn't affect how the boat ran, but a propellor blade did get nicked. When we brought the boat back later, we showed the man who met us, and he reacted strongly. "You, sit there!" He commanded us. We had no intention of leaving, and his reaction was totally unnecessary and embarrassing. After the motor had been looked at, we were told that the repair would be $100 for a new blade, and they would call if it was going to be more, which they never did. Imagine my surprise when my credit card bill cake and they had charged almost $800! I was shocked! They claim that we bent the hardened steel shaft of the motor, but when we spoke to a Mercury dealer in another town, he said that there was no way that we could have with the minimal damage that the blade had. He also said that a bent shaft could cause low power, and we are guessing that the shaft was already bent. The icing on the cake that day was when the man who had rudely ordered us around smiled as we walked out and said, "Welcome yo NH". We are from NH and not far from there, but wondered if we looked like sitting ducks. read more

I rented a 24 foot pontoon boat last 4th of July and can not wait to return this year. They made sure I had a cooler full of ice. When I asked about island's to visit on the lake I was given very detailed instructions on the map. Squam lake can be dangerous due to rocks so they gave me clear directions on areas to avoid. read more

Utterly Rude owners! Arrived for a day of boating for our daughters birthday celebration, brought friends and family. Upon arriving and realizing we were going to be over boats capacity we decided to rent two boats to keep everything safe and within regulation. However, our kids (adult children) arrived a bit early to start process of rental, set up, life jackets and any signing that needed done. The owners (especially the wife) was remarkably even shockingly rude. Mean, mean, mean! She literally stands there shooting darts out of her eyes, glaring at you but has no problem taking your money! My husband and I arrived and told them over capacity wasn't a problem we would just rent 2 boats. Keep in mind this is close to a 400.00 outlay on our part for a family celebration. We are respectable, well put together family ... no alcohol, no attitudes, we are the type of business anyone would want. Our kids are respectful and they were kind, but treated like they weren't worth the scum dragged up from the lake bottom. Having them get another boat ready for us took them about 15 mins. Cost us another 150.00 (not bad money for 15 mins of work) but we were definitely treated like we were a nuisance. Also, little side note... if the Marina had been busy, I could understand them being mildly irritated with us for not being aware of the limits on capacity with boats (first time we have ever rented boats) but the marina was DEAD... NO one else was there or taking out boats! We were the ONLY customers on deck or even around. So a nuisance.... I don't think so... we were more business.... more cash.... a regret on our part. They were happy to take our money and at no point were they friendly, courteous, generous or thankful for our business. The incredibly rude behavior continued... Wife actually incapable of a smile or friendly behavior I believe. All literature and website tell you the boat rental is from 9-5 each day for a full day. My husband was reprimanded upon arriving back in dock at exactly 5:00 pm (with other boats arriving as well) that we were suppose to be back at 4:30. We were never told this or is it in any literature. We thought a boat rental till 5:00 meant a boat rental till 5:00! We cleaned the boats before we got off, no trash, swept it and left everything as we found it. Also upon arriving the owner yells at his staff across the water, very rude, bossy and unpleasant. No please, No thank you, No appreciate your business, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE... You can tell his staff is worn down and dislikes him. Which is probably what makes him so mean and have to yell at everyone. THIS MARINA IS THE WORST POSSIBLE WAY TO START AND END A WONDERFUL DAY ON THE WATER!!! Rent from another lake or another Marina!!! save yourself the unpleasant, day wrecking, rude and mean behavior of these people! Go where your money and patronage is appreciated and people who have a sense of customer service will start your outings and special days off with a smile and gratefulness. read more

I have been a customer of the Marina for four years. I use their mechanics and valet service. They are friendly and honest. Captain Donna a "retired" teacher runs it and is very honest and helpful. She also gives great lake tours which helped me when I started boating on Squam. The head mechanic, Jean is well experienced and has taken great care of me and my boat. As a relatively new boater he has given me many needed lessons on the boat and it's care. read more

We keep our boat with these folks using their valet service. Never a problem- prices reasonable.
