As Austin saw me into his cramped studio-rays of afternoon sunlight manifest through pleasantly scented smoke in the air-my memory of the urban environment from which I had come began immediately to dissolve. I have spinal cord and brain cancer so of course i'm very skeptical of anyone who touches my body. Austin was perfect. I really want to thank Austin for the incredible massage last week. It's been a while since I've had one and boy did I need it. I'm always impressed with the loving kindness that this man shows in the world (we have met socially a number of times)- likewise, his energy in session is equally compassionate, in-tune and powerful. I scheduled a massage appointment with Austin specifically because I knew he would be able to relieve some muscle soreness and increased body stiffness I was experiencing after completing a physically challenging activity. At the start of the session Austin asked me some questions, as he always does, about my current physical and energetic state, if I had any new or changes to existing medical conditions that he wasn't aware of, whether there were areas I wanted him to focus on, and most important -- how he could help and nurture me during the session and throughout the bodywork. At the start of and during the massage, Austin frequently checked in with me on the degree of pressure, which was always just right. He was incredibly attuned to my needs and intuitively responsive to them. I always felt at ease when giving him feedback or making a request for my preferences. Austin is a talented massage therapist! I have seen him for 4 sessions, and it gets better and better every time. I have an office job that requires a lot of drafting with the mouse, so my shoulders, upper back, and especially my right arm get stiff and sore often.
