If you need pictures taken for your China travel visa application, beware that the requirements are very specific and passport photos from Walgreens/Kinkos/etc won't work. I was a bit worried about getting my Chinese visa accepted and returned to me on time before leaving for my trip at the end of June. There are a handful of places around Seattle that can help you with this, but after doing a lot of research, it seemed like Holiday China China was the cheapest, so I took a chance... I'm so glad I did! I worked with Iris who made sure all of my paperwork was in order and she also examined my visa photo and cut it to size to make sure it would be accepted. One thing I will say about the visa photo situation --- I called ahead of time and Holiday China China told me they could take the photo in the office for $5, but then when I got there a few days later, they told me that they actually could not take the photo because their photos were getting denied, so Iris suggested a few places I could go, like Fred Meyer, etc. but I just decided to run up to FedEx on Jackson and have the photos taken there. So I left Iris with my visa paperwork at the Holiday China China office and quickly drove up to FedEx. (Iris printed out a sheet with specific requirements China needs for your photo - no smiling, tuck your hair behind your ears, make sure your eyebrows are visible... so I brought that with me.) The guy working seemed clueless when I asked about Chinese visa photos. He said they only do passport photos, but then a woman who just happened to be a flight attendant was shopping there and said, "It's the same thing - they can do it - I've had my Chinese visa photo taken here before and it was accepted." I'm so happy she was there because I was a bit concerned with how unsure the FedEx guy was about the photo, and I already knew the photo had to be taken in a specific way so it wouldn't be denied. Anyway - long story short, he took the photos (you get two), it was $16 (ugh) and then I headed back to the Holiday China China office. Make sure they don't cut the photos there - just take the sheet with you! As I mentioned above, Iris made sure the photo was cut to the correct size and then she attached it to my application. She said, "If you don't hear from me by next week Wednesday, that's a good thing," basically saying no news is good news. She only accepted cash or check and the total was $190. I was sort of under the impression that it would be $190 for the service, and then another $140 once the visa was accepted, but that wasn't the case! I was delighted. You only have to pay $190 total, which means they're only charging $50 for the service since the visa itself costs $140. Awesome deal! The office is also super clean and organized and they have tons of tourist maps for all areas of China that you can take. I picked up my passport & visa a few days ago and feel so relieved it's all taken care of. I highly recommend this place! read more

We had plenty of time so I chose the 4-week option- downloaded paperwork, followed instructions exactly then called to make sure they were open on the day I wanted to bring everything in. The young woman at the front desk was great. She checked over everything including the photos to make sure they met requirements (we paid big bucks for this as this seems to be what is causing the most problems with the new requirements from China). The China Holiday so nice they say it twice. I just went there for a China Visa. This web site says they charge $160 , in fact they charge $179 + 4% fee for paying with a credit card for a total of $186.20. This is for a visa due back in 3 weeks. A visa for which I downloaded the form and typed out myself, added a headshot photo, and included with e-ticket and current passport. It appears to me all I'm paying them for is to send it to SF and back. Still this is better than NW Visa Services which not only advised me to apply LATE (which I now realize dishonestly tried for force me into purchasing a rush visa) and AA Travel which both quoted $200+ for this ridiculously simple service. It remains to be seen if my visa will get back to me on time. They are in Chinatown, which is a heck of a lot easier to find parking in than downtown and they are right next to the delicious baked goods of the Sweet & Fresh Bakery. Update: Visa received within time frame promised! Although they don't greet you if they are helping someone else (but how can they when there's only 1 person in the room). However there are comfortable chairs to wait in and a water tank. This is clearly a small casual place so be prepared to be patient. read more

When the Chinese Consulate in SF would not accept my travel itinerary, Iris immediately called me to inform me of this. Within a few minutes she figured out an itinerary that would satisfy the consulate and emailed it to me asking me to fax it to the Chinese Consulate. She told me that she would make sure her colleague stayed there until they received the fax. Within an hour she called me back to say the consulate had accepted my itinerary and my visa should be ready soon. The visa was supposed to be done in four days, but it took only three days. I never write reviews but I had the ABSOLUTE WORST experience with this company. We specified we did not want to go on a shopping tour during our trip to China. However we were lied to by this agency and told that there would be 2 hours max per day. There were days where we were taken to 3 shopping locations, driving for hours to get to each and wasting all of our time. The so called "sight-seeing" portion of the tour was basically non-existent for some days. On top of that we found out other people on the tour basically got the trip for free with airfare included knowing that it was a shopping tour. We were scammed by this company. They charged us thousands of dollars for what was basically a dirt cheap tour and pocketed the money. In addition, we were not provided details we needed like contact information for the tour guides or who was picking us up until the very very last minute. I didn't know where to start with our China visa process for our family. It's harder for us here because there's no Chinese consulate in Seattle, the closest one is in San Francisco. I searched online and found many places, not based in Seattle, that charged a lot to process China visas. I decided to look online for local visa processors and came across HCC. I downloaded and filled out the visa applications based on the sample from HCC. We took photos with our phone using a free app online that worked out OK in the end. (I suggest white background, taken indoors, bright day is best). I drove to their location in the ID and Coco Toy expertly helped me, took 15 min. The photos were questionable for one of our family but she felt it would be OK. A month later I called and they had just arrived, I went and picked them up. Being a month in advance was key, the cost was much more reasonable, literally saved me hundreds of dollars. I don't bother to write many reviews on Yelp but HCC deserves every accolade they earn! read more
