You can park on site or take the metro train for less than $2 one way. Just be weary of wandering homeless. There is security around these parts for safety. They are trying, but they can't be at every single corner or street. The tickets include skate rentals and the use of a small locker. All ages and skate levels welcome! I'm no skater by any means, but I'm a slow waddler off the rails. If you're terrified, yes, you can hold the rails all around the entire time, there's plenty others in the same boat. Small kids can get a standing penguin to help them skate, very cute. I recommend dressing warmly since you are on ice for at least an hour. Also something durable in case you fall like jeans or thick pants. Overall an hour of skating is enough! These skate shoes hurt so bad. Towards the last 5-10 minutes of the session my feet were done and didn't want to move. You can hear sighs of relief from everyone taking off their skates at the end. P.S. they don't carry half shoe sizes so be prepared to size up or down. Overall it's a nice and fun experience. PSA the sidewalk and walkways reek of pee. Once you're inside, it's okay. Thanks Yelp for the tickets and opportunity to experience ice skating. It was such a super fun event. It was the perfect weather yesterday and I decided to come out and explore the ice rank in DTLA. It is a smaller rank than most are used to, but it still serves its purpose and it is right in the middle of DTLA buildings, scenery, etc. you can easily get there by metro or drive down there. They rent you the skates and I like that they are sprayed with Lysol after each use. A must try activity if you haven't done so. I just kept to the wall and tried to skate slowly to avoid falling. I was super nervous the whole time because I was slow and people kept approaching me. I was able to enjoy it for a whole hour. I love seeing this in my neighborhood every year. It definitely brings joy to the downtown Los Angeles area. Surprisingly, all the staff were really really friendly. And they actually cared about our shoes fitting, and the safety of all of their customers. I really enjoyed my experience. And not bad for the price which is $25 per person for an hour and a half. There's a huge tree in the middle, where you can take really pretty pictures in the backdrop. Which I'm pretty sure a lot of the customers appreciate it. Had the chance to go ice skating here last week and it was honestly so fun. I felt like a little kid again, and it wasn't crowded at all so I could actually skate around comfortably. I stayed for about 40 minutes, which was more than enough, and the ice was way smoother than I expected. Such a cute activity to do with your significant other or family and friends. It's a surreal experience to ice skate here when the weather is warm and nice! I took my 6 year old who experienced this for the first time and he really loved trying to skate with the penguin walker in 1 hand and the other on the handrail lol. To be ice-skating in the middle of the city feels like something out of a movie. In that respect this activity is incredibly special. We had the opportunity to go on a Saturday night as a family and had a lovely time. Regarding the time limit in conjunction with the price, I'd say this activity is a bit too expensive. Additionally, by the time you get your skates on and actually make your way out to the ice you may have 40 minutes or so to skate. I think given the fact that there is a time constraint should make the tickets a little bit more cost-effective, especially for a family. I personally only skate about once or twice a year, so I am by no means a professional. However, the ice is a little tricky to skate on seeing as it gets a very light cleaning between sessions. All in all. I am definitely grateful for the opportunity to have done this. However, I will say, for me at least, it was a one and done experience. read more

It's cute for what they have to work with...Pershing Square isn't the greatest location. It's not crazy expensive, but I probably wouldn't pay full price for this- I'm glad I had a discount. The ice is poorly maintained and extremely small. There are also no bathrooms or access to drinking water unfortunately, so keep that in mind for your trip. Lockers are a one time open situation, so once you put your stuff in, you can't get it until you're ready to leave. I still had a fun time and might return next year! read more

We got a special discount and have always wanted to try this location during the holidays. We went on a sunny afternoon to avoid the crowds and boy did we avoid the crowds. Lol most likely would've been much more fun at night with all the spectacular lights and possibly could've even run into Santa Claus. I had not ice skated in many many many years and was surprised how difficult it was.Got around the rink a few times without falling down so that was a plus. It's nice and cute to have an ice rink in the middle of Pershing square for the winter season. The experience was fun, but the price may not justify it. For two people it was about $55 which includes skates (not sure about locker - but we didn't use it). Parking was an additional $10. I think if there were more Christmas lights, decorations, Christmas music, food m/drink vendors, and more security, then it could be better. Came here to enjoy a day with the family and staff was very RUDE! Place is great but doesn't make up for the Rudeness that the Employee EVELYN had towards us. First off she threw the tokens at us, she needs to either get another job or handle her temper because thats not how you treat customers... Then she was just yelling the whole entire time as if we were not right in front of her. Place is good but they just need to improve on who they staff. I always liked Pershing Square's at X-mas and the skating ring adds to it. It is a beautiful decorated place in DTLA, a new holiday tradition. I love the decor, cute and festive, the music and the atmosphere. The ring is on the smaller side and pretty crowded, it makes it hard to skate, people crowd about and don't skate, more like stand around. So that is a big issue with me. You do try for an hour to have some kind of skating flow. If it was bigger this issue might be solved! Lots of people who don't know how to skate around. Check their site for the schedule, it differs. $20 admission (with skates) for an hour. Snacks around, holiday cheer and puts you into the right frame of mind. Close to the subway stop! We came on a weekday for the 11am session. The parking underground had plenty of parking at level 3. It was pretty fun as it was not busy. There were patches that had a thin layer of water though. You have to purchase a token for the locker. Would recommend to wear a thin jacket with pocket switch everything you need. Of course, bring thick socks. The admission was $20, parking for less than 1 full hour of play was $9. It's nice to come with a group. read more

Lovely! I ALWAYS enjoy visiting this ice rink. Great workout. Skated nearly TWO HOURS. The mornings seem to be an ideal time because there's plenty of space on the ice. The crowd usually arrives in the evenings when the temperatures are cooler and the holiday lights are on. Everyone was GREAT! My experience here was ok. I got there, paid for everyone, including my 2 year old. The guy at the area where you get skates, was extremely grumpy. Doesn't say hello, no smile, doesn't answer your questions, and had an attitude problem. I get on the ice and my 2 year old is having trouble learning how to skate (1st time). So I went to get him something to hold on to. They told me I have to pay extra to use the balance item. I was so annoyed. I paid full price for him and myself. I didn't go to skate- I had to watch my kid. And they should understand that 2/3/4...year olds don't spend more than 20 mins on the ice. Then we had to get off. Not sure why they charge for that item. Another mom got off the ice at the same time as me , with her young child and was also really annoyed. She was saying, "don't they understand that little kids done spend more than 15 mins on the ice." The layout of the rink is very confusing and you keep having to go through different doors and hallways to get to different places- and you just spend a bunch of time just getting lost. It's a fine rink, just walked out of there super annoyed. I think they should spend some more time on their customer service and improving it. read more

First time here Ice skating on Christmas day. The weather was perfect. The ice rink is small and it was crowded. Just have to purchase tickets online and choose the time slot that works. It is for an hour of skating. The price is $20 per person and it includes skates. The decor was was cute and it was playing Christmas music. We had so much fun! The ice rink comes back every year to downtown LA but I know they have other locations as well. The Pershing square location is easy to get to. Pershing Square is easily accessible by metro and there is a underground parking garage that is directly underneath the park. is $7 on weekdays after 5 PM. The rink can get pretty crowded, the timeslots are broken into hour-long sessions where staff clean the rink in between the sessions. No experience needed. For the inexperienced like me you can hold onto the wall which is topped with plastic so it is not cold. The more experienced folks will take up the center of the rink. The only complaint I have is that the ice nearer the edges of the rink is uneven. There were debits where people scraped off chunks of ice, and there are puddles where ice was melting. Aside from skating there is also a café where you can get quick fast food like chicken tenders and grilled cheese. There are lockers that are tokens operated but can only be opened once. read more

So I've never been ice skating in my life....until yesterday. It was unexpectedly, a very successful night meaning nobody broke a bone or "ate dung". We pre-bought tickets on Eventbrite and selected a one hour time frame. Tickets were $9 + $5 skates + some sort of tax. Not too expensive at all. Paid parking was plentiful in the underground garage when we went. We got to the ticket booth, collected our armbands then got skates that corresponded with our shoe sizes. Lockers were $3 using tokens for people's shoes and purses. They provide "penguins" (usually $6) for children to hold onto and it does wonders. The staff were friendly and helpful. Several were on the ice whizzing around to help the poor souls that slipped or tripped over themselves as well as help direct traffic. Couple of tips: -Don't overdress like I did. Imagine sporting a coat and a scarf while running on the treadmill....that was me. No buen. -Use the loo before you go in...don't waste your precious hour having to untie those skates and then having to look for the bathroom. -Wear high socks...my noob self wore low cut socks and ended up with a souvenir of raw skin on my ankles from the skates. What an amazing date night with my husband. It was our first time ice skating. So we were not sure what we were signing up for. But overall it was a nice experience to check out during the holidays. For 1 hour, admission was $9 and skate rentals was $5. They also offered locker rentals for $3 which you must use since you are not allowed to carry purses or backpacks while ice skating. Parking is $7 located underground parking garage. The ice rink is a good size located in the middle of Pershing Square. There were a few staff on the rink to help ppl nagivate safely among other skaters. They even offer penguins that can help guide the kids foar $6. You know it's not normally cold in LA. So having an ice rink in the middle of DTLA is quite magical while skating among the skyscrapers. And even if it was a cold night, you wouldn't feel it after getting a few laps in. Skaters that attended were from many different ages and different level experience. Everyone was very respectful and were careful not to bump into each other. I really enjoyed the experience and would come back again as a group activity among my friends. You might not think it's a good work out but I felt so good afterwards on how much I accomplished after my 1st try at the ice skating rinks. read more

We went at night and I honestly loved it. I loved the scenery. The lockers were cool. The skates are hit or miss but for the price point you can't really complain. Holiday skating rink in Pershing square is a nice sized outdoor rink that offers a few skate times throughout the day with locker rentals for your belongings. Underground parking garage is always an option or if you can find street parking. The weather was nice, no actually I take that back, it was beautiful day for ice skating. I had my socks with me in my purse as I was wearing ballet shoes with different kind of socks on. I arrived around 2p during a weekday and the current session was pretty packed. The next skating session was at 230-330p. I had some time to kill and thought it would be a perfect idea to find the restroom first. There are a restrooms on floor underground the yellow building you will need a code to get in but clean and more then a few stalls once inside. Made sure to wash my hands and I was on my way. I get my skates in my size, put skates on, and then put everything away in my locker. I put everything away including my coat--minus my phone and my vlogging camera. Hold tight to those keys they charge a whopping $25 if lost. It was time for the previous session to now come off the ice so that it can be smoothed out once again for the next session which was my session. All clear, everyone slowly made there way on the beautiful ice. The sun was shinning which balanced the cold from the ice so I'm glad I left my peacoat in my locker. I'm a cooler temperature kindof gal to begin with. Perhaps half way in the sun disappears but being on the ice was still nice. Everyone skating in a big circle; I came by myself and had the best time. Times up, meaning everyone off the ice as sessions are only an hour and don't forget your belongs as the next group needs to prepare for the next session. I made sure to put my key in my front pocket and when I needed it it was right where I left it. I took off the skates, put on my flats, and returned the skates. I had so much fun and what a great experience! It was part of my Christmas bucket list to skate on a frozen over lake but regular outdoor rinks will do as it's been way too long. It's a great way of ending the holidays, the feeling of Christmas came back as we skated the rink in January for a Yelp event. The price is about $16 a person which includes a ticket, a pair of ice skates, and a full hour on the rink. The rink was freshly paved and smooth when it was time for us to skate, I love the Frozen Disney music that they were playing making it feel like as if we were Disney on Ice. It wasn't too crowded at the rink, didn't feel like we burdened people for being too slow and vice versa. Lockers were available but we just left our shoes out at the benches, and I wore a fanny pack for the convenience. It was my friend's first time ice skating and mentioned that it wasn't as hard as he thought compared to snowboarding. Kids were given these penguins to hold to while ice skating it was so cute watch. I was overwhelmed at how many people were ice skating here. Most employees looked like they didn't want to be at work. They looked miserable. I would say that the rink is too small for the amount of people they let on to the rink. A lot of kids bumping into you. The good things are that the "monitors" help the kids that are using the "penguin assistant" ice skate. Giving them tips and trying to get them to go on their own. They have "rounds" where on the hour they clear the rink and bring in the next group of people. You get about an hour and 15 minutes of skating. We did 4-5pm If you check in you can receive the free fingerless yelp gloves which come in handy if you fall! read more

I brought my nieces to skate. It was a horrible experience! My nieces were not able to get a boppy penguin they said too tall but on the ice taller kids were using them. They measure them with their skates which made her an inch taller and they were rude about it said no she's too tall right then and there another parent came and said can I get one for my daughter and they gave her one then and there and when I asked if they were going to check her height they said oh yeah he came ealrier which he didn't I had been standing there ! One of my nieces ended up falling and getting cut on her finger. It was a horrible experience for my nieces both left very disappointed basically in tears. Decided to purchase tickets online on Black Friday a couple of hours before the 8:30-9:30pm skate time. I thought it might be sold out and I don't like taking chances considering the parking fee so I paid online: $9.00 + $1.62 service fee for general admission $5.00 + $1.50 fee for the skate fee You can only purchase the penguin helper ticket in person which is $6.00. Parking below the park was $9.00 after 5pm otherwise it's $20.00. I noticed parking lots walking distance for less but we didn't want to walk at night. You can save money by purchasing in person but check times online and arrive early enough. You can wander the small park to kill time. We are a family of five and I was gonna opt out of the skating but still purchased the general admission assuming I needed it to enter the venue. I was wrong! There is absolutely no refunds so I sold my ticket to the person behind me in line and paid for the penguin ‍ They will not refund anything because the tickets are valid until the season is over so they ask for it to be used on a return visit. They have lockers for a one time use of $3.00 - Lots of people seemed to feel comfortable leaving their shoes in little corners. Do not step on the red floor without shoes. It is soaking wet from the ice. Bring extra socks because my kids didn't listen. Skates run small but you have to be opened all the way for the foot to go in. The laces were knotted on one pair. They Lysol the skates after each use but very quickly. Their was a hot dog vendor and a small snack bar. There is lots of tables and chairs . I noticed some people brought their own food. There was a little Cesar's box left behind on a table (let's clean up after ourselves peeps) Once you get your ticket you wait in a line for skates. The line is opened 15 minutes before your skate time and they casually check for wristbands. It went by pretty fast and the workers were very organized and friendly. Once we got the skates on my son went to get his penguin helper. Once on the ice he fell a few times and the workers were quick to help him up. The team this night was very attentive and quick. The hour is more than enough time. A big chunk of people needed breaks after 40 minutes. Pack a water. Overall my family had a blast!They got the hang of it and ran wild! Skates are about what you'd expect from rental ice skates. Lockers are $3 for a token that gets consumed when you pull the key out, so be sure to stow everything the first time, including your shoes! The rink was a bit small, but given that it never actually gets freezing cold in LA that's also expected. Some areas around the edges of the rink were thawed and had slight divots in the ice though. One was central and big enough that the rink staff put cones around it during the session. Tip for new skaters! Make sure the skates are laced TIGHT around your ankles.
