DO NOT STAY HERE! The front desk staff was beyond rude and unhelpful. We were here for a softball tournament with 12 year old girls. We had lunch in the lobby in between games when KYLE rudely walked over and set down trash bags stating we needed to put our trash in the bags AND TAKE IT OUT TO THE DUMPSTER. Mind you we are still eating and intended to throw away our trash when finished in the appropriate trash cans. Then brought over a spray bottle and towels to wipe down tables when we were finished. Stating their staff had already left for the day so apparently now paying guest must handle said duties as if we work here. Shortly thereafter she attempted to yell at our children prior to speaking with the parents who were right there stating they were being disruptive and loud. It was roughly 1pm and they were merely speaking- existing in the lobby which was apparently too loud for her. She became aggressive and extremely unprofessional yelling at us as if we were children instead of simply asking if our girls could lower their voices. KYLE carried on for an inordinate amount of time while we were trying to diffuse the situation seemingly looking for a fight. At one point taking out her phone camera to record us. KYLE called the police and had 2 mothers removed from the property approximately 30 minutes later- one of which never raised her voice and tried her best to deescalate the situation despite the hostile manner in which she approached us. The police officers stated that watching the footage the only person behaving in a hostile manner was KYLE the front desk personnel. It is quite shocking that any hotel would allow a person this unhinged and out of control to work in a setting where she encounters people on any level. I will never stay in an IHG property again. This employee has countless bad reviews as it is and the police stated this is a regular occurrence at this property and were super apologetic as it was evident KYLE was clearly in the wrong. read more

A friend booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express and ended up sharing the room to save some money. It was pretty cool. My friend and I stayed here at this Holiday Inn Express hotel in Alabaster, Alabama for a night in October 2023. It was one of two hotels in this small community, which seemed puzzling but I get it. Not much choice in Alabaster. My friend booked it on Priceline, which had some pretty good deals there. Upon arrival, we came around 6pm on a Friday evening and checked in. This Holiday Inn express hotel was close enough to some shops and a couple of restaurants nearby. It was nice to have that in this town in Alabama. The service here was nice and quick and under two minutes after telling the hotel staff the name of the reservation and presenting a valid ID for identification. The hotel itself is a full service hotel, which has plenty of amenities, but we did not use them all, unfortunately. During my stay here, I particularly enjoyed the hotel breakfast. They had orange juice, coffee, and tea for drinks. They had scrambled eggs, mini omelette, sausage patties as the hot items. they had Wi-Fi, which was pretty good and fast. When we walked into the lobby, it was quite interesting and nice. The elevators were close by the front desk and we could get in and out without any problems. This hotel seemed smaller than most, but just seemed the right size for me. Although the prices were a little shocking at just over $200/night in Alabaster, Alabama in late October, I guess if you need to stay here, you're willing to pay for it. The room was standard and quite cozy. Came with two queen beds and I slept pretty well. Everything in the hotel worked to a tee, including the shower and the television. Seemed like a good stay here before doing something crazy in a community park at night like running for 24 hours at Veterans Park, but I digress. It was a nice stay and recommend anyone who needs to stay here while in the area or passing thru and needs a place for the night. The overall experience here at this Holiday Inn Express - Alabaster was pretty good and definitely nice to be back with this hotel brand. It was more budget friendly, since I was splitting the cost with a friend and fellow marathoner. The hotel had 4 floors, I think. The only drawback was that this hotel and the Candlewood Suites, which was literally next door, is the only hotels in the Alabaster area. Cute, huh. You'd have to either come from Birmingham or stay further south of Alabaster for more hotel options, but this Holiday Inn Express is a good one to stay, if you want to be in the local area. They had a fitness room with treadmill. I saw a guy in there on a Saturday morning while I was dressed to run an ultra marathon event in a nearby park. I was like, it was a beautiful morning at 50 F, why not go outside? That made me laugh. I wished I used their hotel pool for a little during my stay here but that wasn't meant to be. The most important thing was that I had a good / decent amount of sleep during my stay and the bed itself was pretty comfortable for sure. The service was friendly though, which is usually should be the norm. All in all, can't complain too much, although the price per night was obviously up there. It's probably worth it if you had to commute to Alabaster from Birmingham or anywhere else and need to be in the area. The hotel is rather nice and looks teasing and aesthetically. Nice on the outside. And so, if you love the Holiday Inn express friend, I need to be in the alabaster, Alabama area, consider staying here. This Holiday Inn express hotel is located at 1234 Main St. in alabaster, Alabama. They call major hotel, chains and brands, they accept major credit cards as well, but most bookings happen to be online and prior to arrival. You probably can call the hotel and book over the phone Subject to availability. They have private parking for guests who stay here overnight or multiple days. You would have to ask if there is a parking decal. You would need to put on your car to prove that you are staying here to avoid towing. As far as public transportation goes, I do not know if you can get here to Alabama's Birmingham, public transportation or a rental car is feasible. As suit grab a rental car or Uber or left to get here. It is basically the most convenient way to get here but of course having a driver doesn't hurt either. And so, if you're in the area, I need to stay, they'll be glad to have you. It is a comfortable stay and would recommend anybody to come here if they're in the area or just passing through. 4.5 stars for the overall experience. Absolutely terrible, both the property and the front desk staff (specifically Kyle and her night time counterpart). We were with a travel ball team that had 10 families staying, some with multiple rooms. The rooms, lobby, and hallways were extremely hot, most rooms would not cool down. Some of the rooms were full of Japanese lady bugs all over the walls, floor, and beds. When my mother asked if the bugs could be cleaned up she was given a shop vac to do it herself and was told to keep it in the room to deal with it again when they came back. No comforters for the sleeper sofas. We checked in at 8:30 on Friday and were hanging with the other parents in the lobby, so was another team. The front desk yelled at everyone that they were being too loud and treated the parents like they are elementary school students. Clearly this lady had an axe to grind. Next day we had 2 hours to kill before our next game so we grabbed some lunch to eat in the lobby and watch college football. Kyle promptly walked over with trash bags, a spray bottle and rags for us to clean and instructed us to not use their trash cans that they would have to take out to the dumpster when full so she wants us to take our trash to the dumpster. The 12yo girls on the team were hanging at a table making TikToks, being normal kids, not rambunctious at all. Kyle ran over and started yelling at the girls. When one of the parents said to not speak to the girls that way and if there is an issue you bring it to the parents....Kyle went off on a tirade saying that the lobby is not a place to gather. The lobby with tables, chairs, charging ports, and TVs is not a place to gather?? She was on one, called the cops, who were extremely shocked as to why they were there because it was nothing out of the ordinary. When my mother began to film the altercation Kyle attempted to snatch the phone out of my mother's hand, and then began filming for herself on her personal phone (which is against IHG policy if anyone from IHG happens to read this). The whole thing then took a quite racist turn with Kyle against 2 of the other moms. Kyle is an absolutely horrible person, which there are numerous reviews documenting her behavior which I wish I had read prior to booking at this dump. We checked out a day early and went to Home2 Suites 10 minutes down the road, which was far and beyond a better experience. Kids able to be kids, parents able to hang in the lobby and watch college football, and bug free rooms :) Back to Hilton properties for our team. Also 1 star for Alabaster in general, that town is hard to like. read more

Day 1: The Front Desk Clerk KYLE was absolutely HORRIBLE! When I first checked in, she regaled me with personal information telling me how beautiful everyone thought she was and that people were intimidated by her beauty. When I finally got checked in, I went to my room and found numerous swarming Asian beetles. Went back downstairs and asked for another room. She told me there were no more rooms and that if I changed hotels, I would still be charged. She said if one landed on me, it was good luck and it would bring me lots of money. KYLE then offered to get me the hotel's Shop Vac so I could vacuum them up! She was nice enough to tell me I could keep the Shop Vac in my room in case I needed to clean up more beetles. Another desk clerk who was there offered to suck them up for me. After unpacking and taking my shoes off, I walked around on the carpet and it was so dirty that my feet were black. The shower unit was also dirty and had chipped places where someone had puttied the places but not sanded or cleaned them. Day 2: I was with my granddaughter's travel softball team and in between our games, we all sat in the lobby and ate lunch while watching football. KYLE came over to the table where my family and I were sitting and tossed down some trash bags and a bottle of cleaner. She told us that we needed to clean up our trash, take it out to the DUMPSTER and clean the tables with the spray bottle she had brought over! (Umm....excuse me KYLE, I don't work here! Not going to suck up bugs and not going to sanitize tables.) Of course, we were definitely going to remove our trash and put it in the trash can IN THE LOBBY without being chastised by KYLE! Several moments later, KYLE started yelling at our 12 year old girls for being too loud. All they were doing is messing with TikTok on their phones. They were getting ready to FaceTime with their batting coach so they were NOT MISBEHAVING! One of the parents asked KYLE not to address their children but to address the parents and they would handle the girls. KYLE became very confrontational and stomped over to where we were sitting and continued to rant. One of the parents tried to talk to KYLE and diffuse the situation. The parent never raised her voice and spoke to KYLE respectfully and professionally. KYLE continued to get ANGRIER and LOUDER! One of the other parents asked for the manager but KYLE refused the request. I had previously had my phone out in order to video my granddaughter and her teammates FaceTiming with their coach. I decided to tape what was unfolding in front of me in case it became an issue later. When KYLE saw that I was taping the interaction (I was not trying to hide it), she came over to me and started yelling and tried to slap the phone out of my hand! She then went and grabbed her phone and started taping US. I really don't think this is legal for an employee to video their guests and her laying her hands on me could be considered assault. I quit taping and left to call IHG corporate. They told me they could do nothing if I was still at the hotel and they would transfer me to the Property Manager. Of course, their call went unanswered. When I went back to the lobby area, KYLE and her coworker were sitting at the front desk giggling with each other. A few minutes later, two police officers came in. They asked KYLE which parents she had a problem with and she pointed out two of the Moms - both of whom were African American. That's when we felt like this had taken a RACIST turn. The police officers then told the two Moms that they needed to pack their bags and vacate the hotel. This was totally uncalled for and when I showed the police officers the video footage, they agreed that we had done NOTHING WRONG and that it was definitely all KYLE. They also stated they had no choice but to do as KYLE asked since it was private property. They also stated that they were called to this location frequently. While reading reviews on this hotel, we found that KYLE had pulled this kind of thing more than once. She has been called out by name on numerous occasions and not in a good way. My family and I did not feel comfortable OR safe staying in this hostile environment so we decided to check out a day early. When I went to pack, my room was once again Beetle Infested. They were even IN MY BED! This facility has NASTY rooms and NASTY employees! Turn around and RUN!!!! read more

We had a problem with Orbitz booking and ended up paying for a room when we got there. We talked to the manager Amy and she told us there was nothing she was going to do about and basically we are out the money. She said she hates dealing with third party companies. Amy and the other lady working front desk are both horrible people to put in customer service. After someone pays for a service there answer was screw you. This will definitely make us think about any Holiday Inn property. By the way the lady working overnight was very nice and helpful maybe Amy and the other lady working should take a few lessons for her. Wait why not just replace them with her. I think I will need to pass this location for any future traveling back and forth to our Florida home. This had some troubles in the past but now just off the hook. The phone system is stiil not working and this has been 3 years, different reasons with same results. The front desk staffers all need help in dealing with a customer as I was told things that I know were not true. I am a Platinum Elite member and we always get welcome points or snack with drink, NOT here. I was told the points are added at checkout, why do they call welcome points? The next morning before breakfast I went to the front desk and was told no points given with stayed with reward points, NOT true. Then came breakfast, I cut my thumb very deep gash that would not stop bleeding. I caught something on the lip of the warming trays they use, and leaked blood into the sauage tray. I told them at the front desk to maybe dump the bloody sauages, but NOT here, they did not tell anyone about this mess. I went to the front desk for some help with cut on thumb, she handed me two bandages and said have a nice day. I drove to Walmart and purchased crazy glue to seal my thumb and blood flow. The glue did the job and I did not stay for breakfast after seeing how they dealt with my blood, nothing. read more

The good is the beds and pillows are soft and comfortable. The rooms are clean and in order. The bad is that the bath towels and cloths are rough and not soft at all. They feel like you are drying off with sand paper. They do not have any hold bars inside the tub. Only on the outside. The tissue Kleenex feels like sandpaper and the toilet paper isn't much better. The tubs are too high for older people to step into and there needs to be some sort of rubber mat or something in the tub to keep someone from falling. There needs to be a separate shower so that some people don't have to climb into, they can just walk into it. The staff is awesome! Friendly, helpful and all around nice. We did enjoy our stay aside from the little hiccups. Thanks for having us and we will be back! read more
