This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had…read more Check-in was extremely slow, and the front desk attendant (I believe his name was Joe) made inappropriate comments about my reservation, stating that I should not use "third-party" booking sites and that I paid more than I would have if I had booked directly with the hotel. Upon arrival, there was a dog swimming in the indoor pool and barking continuously. The hallway smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Once in the room, the conditions were unacceptable. The toilet flush handle was completely broken. The front desk attempted to replace it but was unsuccessful, leaving the toilet unusable. When I opened the refrigerator, I found dead cockroaches inside. The curtains and bed skirt were heavily wrinkled and stained, and even the walls had visible stains. There were no bath towels provided, nor were there linens for the pullout sofa bed. The bathroom sink was clogged with gray slime, hair, and filth, and I was told maintenance would address it the following day. We left before that occurred. After leaving the hotel, I discovered that the credit card I provided at check-in for a $50 incidental deposit had been charged not only for the room, but for $40 more than my original booking price, plus an additional deposit. When I contacted the hotel, no apology was offered, and they refused to refund the overcharge. I ultimately had to cancel my credit card due to this unauthorized billing. This experience was unsanitary, unprofessional, and financially distressing. I strongly advise others to beware.

I parked in front of the house and Tari kindly told me I could leave the car there until the morning and she showed me around and made me feel immediately at ease. Tari and Scott actually live off of a little road towards the back of the house, but they are within walking distance of the house and always accessible by phone if you need anything. The house is absolutely stunning and comforting, and it has all the amenities you could possibly need. Tari and Scott take great care of the house. It was always in immaculate condition. The furniture and fixtures are beautiful, and there is a fully stocked kitchen (you can take any of the food for the day free of charge--granola bars, crackers, fruit, deli meats, cheese, baked banana bread, bagels, tea, coffee, juice, soda, bottled water, wine, and more!). I practically ate an entire banana bread loaf that Tari baked during my stay because it was so delicious, and of course Tari and Scott will serve you a yummy breakfast every morning upon request. I had some of the best night's sleep in the room I stayed in too. Each room has its own thermostat and there was a comfy down blanket that I slept with every night for the three nights I was there. My drive to Miami U. each morning was less than 5 minutes, and every time I left the conference, I was excited to go back to the house! Tari and Scott are very kind and personable. They truly care about their guests' comfort and happiness. I highly recommend staying here over a hotel. The rates are comparable, and you get so much more from staying here. If I ever find myself in Oxford again, I will for sure stay here again.

So, check-in was a mess (girls were lovely) not just for us but every other person we knew checking…read morein or saw checking in. Hilton check in is usually seamless as we usually do the digital check in on the app, pick out rooms, digital key is sent and we are ready to go. Unfortunately, it said to see guest services upon arrival to show ID. I don't mind to do that but why have check in online if you still need to see the front desk? Stood there for at least 5 minutes while they tried to get their key card pad to work. Digital keys were never available there which was an absolute pain considering the physical kind barely worked and you had to have a key card for literally every single thing. Don't try leaving your room without it or you will be locked out of literal everything. That night I went to the front shop area to purchase one box of detergent and once box of bounce as we needed to wash some uniforms. You would've thought I was trying to charge a Lamborghini to the room. I was asked for my key card, I didn't have it but told him I could pull up the reservation and he replied with "I need your ID". Mind you it was 10pm, I was just coming down to wash clothes, I didn't have anything on me. He asked my name and then got extremely rude with me when I told him "Tyler". He replied "no, YOUR NAME" I said "that is MY NAME" he then asks for my email and other personal information. He was unprofessional, dismissive and crass. The hotel was stuffy and humid and the in room air conditioning shuts off after so long leaving you to constantly switch it back on. The trash cans by the elevators were overflowing on every single floor and remained that way our entire stay. Musty smells down the halls. I had hoped that after long days at the ball fields that the beds would be comfortable to crash in but I was wrong. They were so uncomfortable and hard. I can't remember the last time I had a super uncomfortable bed at a Hilton/Hampton. Anyways, super disappointing.

When we were getting ready for bed, we turned down the King size bed in room 624, the fitted sheet was stained with a medium sized skidmark (fecal matter) showing the linen had not been washed or maybe changed. Further examination showed the stain passed through the fitted sheet down through to the mattress cover. The mattress cover itself had additional stains that resembled bed wetting with severe yellow staining on the rt side edge, with splattered brown stains on the side of the mattress cover. We did not discover the condition of the bed linen until we turned the bed down at 11:30 pm. We immediately called the front desk to report the issue. It took 2 contacts with the front desk to get sheets which did not fit the king size bed because they were queen flat sheets and no fitted sheet. She alleged there were no King fitted sheets available. The long haired redheaded young lady who brought the flat sheets was not kind or helpful when she informed us she was 5 min past her shift and she was unable to do anything more for us. We told her to please find a fitted sheet for us. She returned with a fitted sheet but when we tried to make the bed, it was a Queen size sheet!! She reluctantly went to speak with someone who might help us obtain a fitted King sheet. The next young lady who brought a fitted King sheet was even more curt and unkind. She brought the correct size fitted King sheet but had a harsh rude tone and way of handing it over. I tried to show her the condition of the bed but refused to come in and see it stating she was not allowed to come into the room, even though the other young lady had come in when I wanted to show her the foul condition of the shower and bathroom floor; red mold throughout the lower tile and edge of the shower pan. The bathroom floor had not been vaccumed or swept before we occupied the room The two young ladies we dealt with, did not treat us with kindness nor in a professional manner... it was as if we were a bother. We took pictures of the soiled bedding and will email a letter to corporate when I find the address. I do want to give kudos to the check in clerk, Venus, who was friendly and professional. Manager Ashlyn seemed genuinely concerned about our horrid experience. Ashlyn was kind and professional. The welcome complimentary Chocolate Chip cookies were super delicious and a surprise to us at check in. I cannot recommend this hotel and I hope this experience is an anomaly. Because of the overnight employees' lack of interest to resolve the issue at the time it was discovered... I will not return... Oh... and the sheets appeared to be so old that the weave was shred in several areas. There was no microwave or refrigerator. We found out later we could have separately rented them had we asked for them. But they should have given us the option. We were advised that only suites were equipped with a microwave and refrigerator.

Not only were they fine with letting us do cakes as centerpieces, Cheryl had the amazing idea for us to assign table captains to cut their table's cake. We loved this idea and turned it into a fun little ice breaker game for the guests to find out who would be the table captain. I especially appreciate that there was always someone to help answer my questions in a timely manner. I live out-of-town which made the emails and phone calls extra important to me. Cheryl always took extensive notes and she never missed a single detail! Whenever we met her in person, she never rushed us and was completely attentive as we tried decorating ideas and got just as excited about them as me. You can tell that Cheryl absolutely loves her job! She treated my wedding as if it was her own daughter's wedding. Cheryl and her staff did an amazing job at setting up all the cake stands, candles, photos, slide show, time capsule, rented pub tables, and simply added touches that made everything come together beautifully. I used to get stuck decorating for all of my friends' weddings and I found it amazing that i didn't have to do a thing to decorate at Nathanael Greene. They took care of everything! If you are looking for a reception venue close to down town Cincinnati, or several of the West Side churches, Nathanael Greene is a no-brainer! Was the place fairly empty when i got in? Sure. But so was the town. I'd go back here in a heart beat. If you read any reviews about this place, read mine. I'm as picky as they come and really enjoyed myself here. In addition, those complaining about the prices of the restaurant.... don't come to LA. You'll just complain all day. To the owners of the hotel + restaurant = great job. To preserve a place that's almost 200 years old, while upgrading certain aspects to maintain an up to date look, is really inspiring.
