Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.

And, price is amazingly bc affordable. Some rooms have kitchenette's. Some are like a small apartment to accommodate 5-6 persons. Call ahead and plan ahead, the rooms go fast. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Symphony Hotel when we attended a concert at Memorial Hall. We really love the place. The location is fantastic. The lounge and the restaurant were nice to have on property. Having spent many years in hospitality and many more years traveling for work my wife and I both noticed things that keep your property from being the best it can be. For the past 20 years we have stayed in different Marriott properties with comparable pricing and amenities to the Symphony. The Symphony did not come close to the standard of the cheapest Marriott. We hope you can take our comments and improve upon what could be a great property. We were greeted wonderfully and attentively by Worley. He did a great job communicating and making sure we had reservations at Vivaldis, which as it turned out were not needed. However he was in shorts and a T-shirt. I get it, times have changed. But for the traveler we don't think decorum has changed quite that much. Our whole stay the uniform for management seemed to be T-shirts and casual shorts. Very unprofessional. I would expect that at a motel charging $69 per night. Not a boutique hotel in the $150+ range. When we got to the room we noticed several little things that added up quickly. You could tell the room had been given a cursory dusting just around items on horizontal surfaces. The lamps and such and behind things had not been touched. In quite a while. One lamp was leaning and loose on its base. A 30 second fix at most. Our AC was malfunctioning when we arrived. It was leaking profusely. Whilst it was taken care of in a timely manner the fact that someone had not checked the room prior to our arrival is a bit of a let down. Especially considering the number of rooms you have. When we picked up one of the glasses provided for guests to drink from we found it was stuck to the table. Cleaning solution? Someone else's beverage? No idea. Luckily we carry our own glasses with us just in case. The coffee machine had a used pod in it showing it had not been cleaned or checked. It also had a blinking light indicating it needs a descaling. There were mismatched mugs which could be a fun thing, except based on what was in the 'breakfast' area it did not need to be. The coffee was not checked when someone brought up towels leaving us having to ask for a coffee refresh. Dinner was good, but not great. The menu did not match up to the one online though and a couple of items we were looking forward to were no on the menu. The barrata should have been room temperature but was straight out of the refrigerator cold. Our Ravioli was very underdone, not even close to al dente. We told our waitress we were attending the concert, but when it came time to pay our bill I had to hunt her down. As it turned out she forgot we were there. I'm not sure how that even happens. After the concert we went to the little rooftop patio that Worley had shown us. There was very little lighting and only half of that was working. It could have been a great space. The grab and go breakfast could be a nice touch, but the presentation was less than professional. Items were in original containers rather than in carafes. It did not look well attended to. It looked more tossed together. Overall the place is saved thanks to being a lot of fun with the rooms, the theme, and the location. Otherwise I'm not sure we would even consider returning.

We had spoken to Marge Anderson when we made reservations a few weeks before. She is wonderfully friendly and helpful. When we arrived, she showed us to our room. It was room #2 and looked out over the Ohio River. At the end of each day, we sat and watched the sun go down looking over the river. The room had a queen-sized bed, a sofa, a small refrigerator, coffee machine, a table and 2 chairs, a TV, and a bathroom. If there was one thing missing in the room it would be a dresser. We stayed there for four nights, and if we had been making a lengthier stay, the lack of a dresser would have been more of an issue. Other than that, the room is very comfortable and fairly good sized. The bed was amazing. We slept very well every night. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi tub, though we did not use it. Marge Anderson was very attentive to our needs. We very much enjoyed our stay there, and plan to stay there again when we visit Rising Sun again.

And -- blessedly hot water, and plenty of it! If you're traveling on business, the lack of internet might be a concern, but otherwise I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet, beautiful place with lovely people.

They had complimentary fruit and coffee/tea available. I did not buy anything from their snack stand, but it was fully packed with all those travel favorites. A unique option about this hotel is that it had a grill and firepit on their patio. We just had to get the all clear from the attendant to use them. We stayed in a 4th floor king room that had a full fridge, stove top, dishwasher, work knook, and mini couch. The bathroom was spacious but there was not a tub and the toilet seat was a hard close so that caused some noise. The bed was comfortable and sheets/towels in the room were very clean. The tv was semi smart so you could log in to Netflix or Amazon prime if you wanted. Breakfast in the morning was standard continental: cereal, yogurt, breads, sausage, omelet, waffle, potatoes, and breakfast sandwiches. The staff was there cleaning and refilling the items so everyone could enjoy This hotel is accessible, but the doors were very heavy (which is great for safety).

I really appreciated having a suite with accommodations, including a fridge, dishwasher, desk and TV I could plug a computer into. Made spreading out and doing work a breeze. (I was in what they call a one bedroom so the bedroom is separate from the living space allowing me to have a colleague stop by and talk shop without being in a bedroom, which would be weird.) The staff is really friendly and helpful. Like, all of them. And they have a small conference room as needed. The place stayed busy with groups in and out. Has a nice outdoor seating area, including grill space and fire pit. The only change I would make is that the front patio allows smoking, so not being a smoker myself, it could sometimes be less pleasant if there were several people smoking at once. But more often than not, that was not the case. It would be better if there was an area mildly segregated from the main seating imo. My colleague was not a fan of the loud traffic noise in his room. You can ask to be on the side that's not noisy, although I am not bothered by that myself so it wasn't an issue for me. I will say it is very loud (on the traffic side) if that's a thing that bothers you because it's a 50 mile an hour road and there would be trucks using brakes or blowing horns on occasion that I heard when I was getting up for one reason or another at night. And (at least to me) a surprising number of people driving Hemi's or show mufflers. They actually provide earplugs next to the bed, which is a nice touch for those who are bothered. (But if you are, just ask when you call or show up to be away from the roadway or sleep with earplugs or headphones.) Breakfast buffet was the standard Marriott type spread, much better than the average in terms of freshness and attentiveness to temperature from staff (full disclosure, I don't eat breakfast so this is my observation when I would go get coffee). I personally liked the coffee (for hotel coffee, mind you), my colleague not so much. I did try to walk to some of the nearby restaurants to get a little fresh air and can tell you this area is not made for walking, so I would not recommend that. Felt like I was taking my life in my own hands at that point.
