I had reserved a King room about a month ago. I checked my IHG app when I was 30 minutes away to find it had been changed to a single queen room. I called the hotel to be told they had overbooked the hotel and had to move people around and they couldn't help me. Through the IHG app I contacted customer service and they verified they could see on the hotels computer system I had booked a king room and they would contact the hotel directly to correct the matter. Upon arrival I checked in to find out they had not talked IHG customer service and said they had not king room for me. I told them I was calling customer service back and then the clerk mysteriously found me a room. The hotels website stated it offered a free breakfast, but upon arrival we were told they weren't honoring that anymore and it would be $14.95 each. Upon entering the room I noticed holes in the carpet, the room smelled musty, and the surface of the tub was peeling off in large pieces. When I went to shower at 10:30 pm there was no hot water. I phoned the desk 3 times and no one answered, a voice mail would eventually pick up saying it was full and not receiving messages. I went down to the desk and was told, "it (the hot water) worked fine last week, no one else has complained." I was then told the hotel was full land she couldn't do anything about it. I asked if there was anywhere else in the hotel I could possibly shower and was told no. I stated I didn't think I should have to pay for a hotel room that didn't have hot water and was told I could check out if I wanted. (At this point it's 11 pm!) I said that wasn't a realist option and she said she would give me 10,000 points (which I have yet to receive.) No one ever came and checked on the hot water. The next night we had slightly warm water probably because it was hot outside. I do have to say the cleaning staff was very nice and polite and the mattress was comfortable. read more

Carly at the front desk was great. I booked a King Suite through Capital One but was told they did not show a suite in the reservation nor had one available. I showed them the confirmation sheet to no avail. Additionally the entire first floor is a construction zone. Rooms are tired and bathtub drain is all rusted. Comfy mattress though. It works for a night after a 9 hour drive but really disappointed not getting g a suite that I had a cofirmed reservation for. read more

I checked in on Thurs 8/29 thru 9/2. I came here from San Diego CA to assist my elderly father who in the beginning stages of Dementia. First negative is if you offer a washer-make sure it works before offering a courtesy service. Second NEVER deactivate a hotel guest's room key until they have CHECKED OUT. I had to wash my clothes in the tub in my room and run downstairs to throw my clothes in the dryer. After going back and forth to the wash room come back up and in a matter of an hour both room keys were deactivated?! Why?! I have no choice but to stay here but if the simplest accommodations cannot be met...something is dead wrong with management. Thank goodness for Wendi she and only two other staff members in housekeeping were kind to me. Thanks a lot. P.S. Google plus WAZE Apps have the location of this hotel WRONG. I haven't been here in years and google had me driving all the way down Beaver Dam Road - Not Funny Not Okay. Also FIX your HOTEL LIGHTS SO GUESTS CAN SEE THE HOTEL. read more

Where to start. As you first walk in it smells like rotten eggs, like natural gas or sewage. There was a huge cockroach in the luggage cart closet. If you want to sleep well , stay on the 3rd floor . If you don't care about noise at all hours of the night , this hotel is for you. The washing machine broke and ruined my clothes. I travel for work full time and this hotel is by far the worst in cleanliness and hospitality. Not the cleaning staffs fault. The cleaning staff is so sweet and kind, they do a good job. The facility needs to be renovated. My room smelled horrible. I requested to speak with the manager multiple times and never got a response from the manager. I requested a room on the 3rd floor due to the noise of the doors slamming at all hours of the night . I was scheduled to stay a month for the project I was working on and getting 4 hours of sleep each night wasn't going to cut it with how noise traveled in my room. I was told the men workers take priority over me. They offered me a room on the second floor but it was in the same shape. I wish I could write some great way they tried to make it better but they didn't. Stay in Mobile or keep driving. A follow up after my stay: due to the smell in the hotel and my room, my clothes I had left, have the same smell and I can't get the odor out of my clothes no matter how many times I washed them. read more

Driving in from Vicksburg late at night because the hotel there sprung a leak, literally!!! Came in about midnight and they were able to accommodate us. The rooms were nice, much nicer than where we had been and they were quiet! This was huge for me because I was exhausted. The breakfast was not so fabulous or I'd have given a 5 star rating. Workers when we checked in were good but in the morning were all too preoccupied to help us quickly. But all in all good hotel and I was satisfied. read more

do not stay at this hotel unless it is the last hotel in the state of Mississippi! If you check in when they are washing towels or bedding, all you will smell is natural gas! I've inquired about this and was told there was no problem. I have had to stay at this hotel a couple of times (not by choice). onetime I found bugs in my bed and the wall had something sticky on them. another time, the room I had smelled like mold and a poorly maintained dog boarding facility. the staff at front desk are not friendly. the cleaning staff, on the other hand, are very nice. the last time I stay, when my room smelled so bad, I came home and had to launder every item in my suitcase because they smelled like the room. I had to spray and air out my suitcase because it also stank! to top it all off, because of the terrible room, the owner was going to "give" me some points on my account - never happened! as I said at beginning, do not stay at this hotel. Being a Holiday Inn, I had low expectations and even those weren't met. The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere with only 2 gas stations nearby. If you want food, you'd need to "drive to town." The hotel itself is okay and seems safe-ish. I understand they're in the middle of renovations so things won't be perfect but upon walking in, you're greeted with the strong smell of urine in the lobby. We never saw anyone working on any rooms so I'm wondering if this is an excuse to have a shoddy environment. Since we stayed here twice (it was the halfway point going and coming back), we had the luxury of trying 2 different rooms and having nearly the same experience. The first time, we had a room on the 2nd floor and it was okay. The second time was a 3rd floor room and the entire floor and room smelled like old people. Both rooms were decent in size but both bathrooms lacked shelves and racks to hang anything on. The hairdryer was on the floor under the sink and towels would need to be strung over the curtain rail. It was a mess. The bathrooms also don't have fans so the humidity would flood the room, so that could be the source of the faint mildew smell. The beds were moderately comfortable but the pillows... no. The pillow cases say Firm and Soft for each but it's more like Extremely Soft and Nonexistent. The thing we hated the most was breakfast. It was utterly nonexistent. For stop 1, they were out of everything and it was only 7:30 (breakfast started 1hr ago). We. Were. Pissed. Stop 2 was the same thing except when breakfast started at 6:30 and we went down at 6:40, nothing was out. There were quite a few people standing around waiting on something to come out of the kitchen. When food did, it was still meh. Hardly any options and no flavor. The eggs were clearly boxed and everything lacked quality. It was the worst and having a breakfast buffet is 1 of the deciding factors for me on whether or not I'll stay at a hotel. The only thing they had going for them was the service and even that was touch and go. If you got the younger woman with the tattoos, best service ever. She's super friendly, personable, and makes an effort to remember your name and get to know you. If you get the older woman, expect her to be cranky as hell and not provide any exceptional service. Parking is also in abundance so there's 1 additional bonus. The bottom line is if you're looking for a place to lay your head, this gets the job done. I wouldn't have stayed here twice over the holiday break otherwise. read more

There was a gross smell when we walked into the lobby. Then we got to our room and it smelled like mold. When we switched rooms, the new room smelled like mold. They say they are going through a makeover which might be the cause of the smell, but I think the mold is from their A/C units--or at least from the carpet beneath the unit, because it was wet to the touch. There was old urine all over the toilet seat, and what looked like dried snot on the desk. Between the quality of the air, and everything else, I'm surprised none of us got sick... read more

I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and our family got to the hotel around 10:30pm on a Sunday night, so take my review with that in mind. Also, we had a great stay at a Holiday Inn Express in Pearl, MS on our way to Florida last week. We stayed in Lucedale on our way back to Texas. The rooms were old, shower bar was rusty, cracked sink, toilet didn't flush well, wall by the tv smelled like urine (I apologized to my 8 yr old since I blamed him for the odor--gross!!), breakfast was mediocre, front desk was courteous and dutiful. Monday morning, they were out of pancakes (what what?!!?). We were the only ones there at 7:30am, but somehow the attendant decided to refill the syrup drawer while I was waiting for my toast. Not sure why she replenished the syrup since they were out of pancakes!! The breakfast area was packed when we left. The breakfast attendant said they were overbooked for the weekend--and is the reason why they ran out of knives too. But wouldn't they know ahead of time that they would need extra inventory for the holiday week if they knew they overbooked? Oh well, we paid $99 for a double queen suite in Lucedale, MS so I guess we get what we paid for. Good for an overnight no frills stay if you don't mind an older hotel. Front desk staff were very nice and helpful but that's about all that was nice. Rooms were dirty (ours had not been dusted in weeks), entire hotel including rooms smelled like mold, and the pool was dirty. Breakfast was very blah but there is a gas station very close which was helpful. read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on April 24-27. We had looked at the website before we booked and called the hotel directly to reserve the room. We were told that the cost would be $394 and some change. We were told there was a pet fee of $25 per pet for the entire stay. This is also what the website said at the time. (they have changed this since then) We were upgraded to a 'suite' for the same price as the double room because they didn't have a room on the bottom floor. The hotel has a moldy smell and so did the room. Kind of like old bleach smell. The 2nd day we were there, our card keys wouldn't open the back door nor our room door. Went to front desk and they supposedly fixed them. Came back to room, still wouldn't work. This happened the next day also. We checked our bank account online and saw that there was a charge of $494 and change instead of the original amount. Hubby went to front desk and she said that it would be straightened out by the time we checked out. IT WAS NOT. They never gave us a receipt that was correct. We left early on Saturday morning. We continued to watch our account. They charged our account $322 and change, then gave us 2 credits of $75. This was not correct either but we decided to wait and see if this was going to be final amount. IT WAS NOT. I just checked my account on May 10 and there was an additional charge of $171.98 - this would have been the original pet fee. The 2 $75 credits were supposedly the refund for the pet fee (because my hubby was very upset over the deception). But they charged taxes on the pet fee and didn't refund those!! We also noticed that on our bank account, they show all of these transactions as taking place at the Canton MS holiday inn. We have never even been to that hotel so not sure why it shows us as having stayed there instead of in Lucedale. This is the most inept, inefficient and just plain goofy stuff we have ever seen a hotel do. We will not stay there again. Or any other Holiday Inn. Because we can't be sure if this is just standard operating procedure for all of them. read more

hotel was in a good location as a truck driver I can only drive so many hours as my hours was running out I decided to stay at this location... The room was decent enough . I checked out early the next morning and all was good . Then my credit card statement came and I noticed a 250. 00 dollar charge so I called hotel and they exploit was a smoking charge I asked to speak to manager and they informed the cleaning lady found evidence of cigarettes in the room I stayed in .. Stayed here overnight while driving to Texas. Hard to find the entrance at night. Rooms were clean, bathroom was okay. Had a small fresh breakfast selection which was alright. Employees could be more friendly and welcoming. read more

i haven't personally been to this exact hotel, but i have been to an holiday inn express before and it was the same exact things as this one here. the one i have been to is real nice and occupied, nice workout room, pool inside, great service and a nice check in area with chairs a tv and some computers if you need to do something, i loved it! read more

It smelled bad, there were drunk people lingering around all night, no one was ever at the front desk, the first room they put me in the beds weren't even made, only a few outlets worked, the shades didn't close all of the way so the spotlight shone in all night, the wifi barely worked, AND..... the seriously nasty breakfast gave me food poisoning the second day. Oh .... much of the staff appeared to be drug addicted. The pool was "closed for cleaning" but never opened once- no one ever appeared to clean it up- I think it's permanently closed.
