    Imaculate, spotless and comfortable!
    Steven B.

I've stayed at dozens of these properties and while I don't expect luxury, I do expect, comfort, cleanliness, competence, value and no negative surprises. I love it when a hotel meets my expectations and that's exactly what happened here! Location- This hotel is on Route 27 and within five or ten minutes in either directions are tons of restaurants and bars. Most are chains but if you use your handy dandy Yelp app you can sniff out some excellent private establishments. Customer Service- Six stars! From the friendly staff to the timely and appropriate texts and even electronic checkout, everything was top shelf. Property- The first word that comes to mind is spotless! There was not even a hint of litter outside. The lobby was also immaculate. Ditto the restaurant. My room was perfectly made up and also spotless. Everything in my room that I used worked flawlessly. The room was also quiet. If you are looking for a great value in Sebring with no negative surprises, I would choose here!

As a five-year resident of this teeny tiny town, I'll add to hers and here are my additions- * The pavilions are a big draw as they have nice big canopies for shade and sturdy picnic tables. Each has its own trash bin a few feet away. That's nice but they are fly and hornet magnets! Just sayin- * Because of the adjacent playground, birthday parties are common. Expect a bunch of rug rats to be running around. * This is a no pets park except for service animals of course. There is minimal chance you will step in something horrendous with your bare feet. * It's nicely lit at night so it's a nice place to enjoy the cool of the evening. * If you enjoy alcohol, as long as you wrap your can, you know what I mean, nobody with bother you. * This is rural Florida and everyone with half a brain knows every lake has gators! The beach is nice and if you swim during the day the chances of even seeing one is minuscule! If you decide to take a swim at night with an open wound, well, you didn't really need four appendages, did you?

During my visit there was birthday party in one of the pavilions. Donaldson Park sits on the shores of Lake Verona and there is a beach for swimming. I have always heard that if you swim in lakes in Florida you can get the brain eating Naegleria fowleri amoeba. When water gets up your nose it travels to your brain which is almost always fatal. There have been 37 reported cases in Florida since 1962. Peak times to get it are July through September. I am not sure if they test the water here or if people are just careful not to submerge their heads in the water. Although I grew up swimming in lakes in New Jersey, this is the first time I have seen a swimming beach on a Florida lake. Also noteworthy is the dinosaur skeleton on the beach. It features heavily in promotional pictures for Avon Park. The park is used by the City of Avon Park for events like the Blueberry Festival and Christmas in the Park. The beach looked inviting but I am just not sure how safe it is to swim here.

A few small things to consider- do not expect world class paddle boards, there is one SUP paddle that functions and two old paddle boards- kayaks seemed ok. The walk to the beach does require crossing a busy road, but once there it IS a nice beach, but you must bring all your own gear, including beach towels. There are not any beach rental chairs, etc. nearby. The wifi did not seem to work for us, the fan in the spare bedroom had a short apparently so my first night trying to sleep, it got up to 78 degrees in the room as we could not adjust the temp on the thermostat, the couch is not comfortable, the streaming buffered, so it took a couple hours to get that to work, there is a neighboring house with a large dog barking and although they warn you, I find it strange for the nightly price ($336/night!) to offer a small soap and shampoo. There is a washer, no dryer. The blankets were thin, beds were decent and the place was clean. There are no screens on any of the windows so you can't really get fresh air and there was a wasp nest above our bathroom window so definitely didn't want to leave a window ajar while showering. There is a "no refund" policy, so you are stuck there as we had wanted to check out after our first of two nights. There are not any walkable restaurants nearby. We were offered a couple of free nights to make up for all the mishaps we had. All in all, there were nice chairs and solitude by their water's edge. I could see a family enjoying the grounds and playing the outdoor games they had, but for us it was a letdown for the price. I think some people would be perfectly happy here but we had a lot of stress upon check-in and so many things not working properly.

Another dear friend of mine had an upcoming birthday and would be away on a cruise so we opted to dine here to celebrate. We sat outside on the covered patio and enjoyed lupper. We shared a variety of items and started with the Parker House bread which is paired with an insanely delicious caramelized onion butter and a trio of tuna poke tacos. Both of these appetizers were superb! The billowy soft roll blanketed in the onion butter was dreamy and the tuna inside the tacos was well flavored and very fresh. Moreover, the combination of textures: the crispy taco shell with soft tuna harmonized extremely well. After we enjoyed the starters, we shared the seasonal chopped salad. The vinaigrette was magnificent and the sweet potatoes were roasted to perfection and danced delightfully with the cranberries and goat cheese. Finally, we shared the Clubhouse California sandwich and fries which we had the kitchen split for us. The sandwich featured toasted multigrain bread with a grilled chicken breast, gruyère, avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a sriracha aïoli. We requested this be held on the side and served along with a side of honey mustard. Unfortunately, there was an error and this didn't occur. I absolutely detest mayonnaise which is why I preferred it be served on the side just in case I could taste it. Luckily, I didn't mind the aïoli being I didn't taste any mayonnaise. It also had a gentle kick due to the sriracha that paired well with the accompanying ingredients. We washed down our meals with club soda paired with lime and good ole fashioned H20. I had mentioned to our server Morgan that it was my friend's birthday so after our meal she and her team brought out a hot brownie with vanilla ice cream and a candle and sang "Happy Birthday." It was such a special touch and very appreciated. Our dining experience was delightful and I will definitely return. The inside of the restaurant along with the bar is beautiful offering great views and the restroom was very clean. There is some walking involved from the parking lot to the dining room, but valet parking is an option.

Server was greeted us with a friendly smile. We watched the beautiful sunset as we enjoyed our food and the fun event.

Views without a balcony can be very loud as it is near the major highway. Other than that, there is always someone at the service desk ready to help and they were very pleasant and professional. The fitness room was rather small it can be shared maybe with one or two other people, but the equipment was clean and everything worked. There is a small breakfast that is delivered to your door promptly at the time you check you want them to bring it to you. The room could use a cozy chair to sit in and better lighting. A hotel of this level should also invest in replenishing toiletries daily, a few times we had to ask for more. Also, they would leave one set up for coffee with dried out creamer. Maybe consider a liquid creamers and/or definitely more than one coffee set up.
