    Cinnamon rolls!
    Sandra C.

We stayed here over the New Year. Good online price. Conveniently located. Nicely decorated for the holidays. There was coffee available by the check in. There was a sign at the desk that said there was hot chocolate chip cookies but I didn't ask about them. The room was clean and large. Lots of pillows on the bed so you had your choice of size. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. It was a very quiet hotel. Friendly staff. The best part was the breakfast. Hot and cold choices. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, bacon, oatmeal, cereal yogurt, fruit, muffins and pastries. The real treat - a hot cinnamon roll station. I recommend and would stay here again.

The staff at reception as friendly, when we got to our room though we noticed it was not cleaned properly! Especially during Covid19 this is extra important! We found old contacts on the bathroom counter, hair by the shower and the faucet was certainly not clean! Very disappointing! We would not return

We came to visit a loved one who was quite ill, so we weren't the "average tourist visitor." As the visit was extended, we were treated to such kind, thoughtful, and caring service and support, we felt so blessed. Every single human that we encountered was friendly, and warm - they helped us through this very difficult time and made us feel at home. From the very first moment we checked in (quite late) and received a very comprehensive tour from the man who served as our Night Reception greeter. We were amazed at his enthusiasm at what for us was quite late at night. Big Smiles, immediate connections, and a genuine attitude that held an offer of "let me help." The folks behind the counter acted as true Concierges - handling all sorts of requests with a smile. To top this off, the place was very clean - the rooms were comfortable and well maintained. Plus, the breakfasts are pretty darn good! We can't thank this crew enough for being there for us and helping us navigate the sticky waters of family crises.

Boom! A rare 5-star from Señor Mark H. Admittedly, we attempted to stay at The Plantation first, but they were booked solid for a wedding. We just don't get out to the Nature Coast very often, so La Chica and I found ourselves feeling dejected. They suggested the Hampton Inn a few minutes south, so out of spite, we went north. This mini-trip up U.S. 19 from Clearwater was a spontaneous decision, so we had no change of clothes or toiletries. All we had was ourselves and our adventurous attitudes. When we explained this to Beth at the desk, so gave us some goodies to help us save money at the store. We got shave cream, a razor, toothpaste, combs, toothbrushes and shower caps. I am looking at her like, "shower caps?" I'm bald, so I had no idea people still use those. The room was great, and way nicer than what we expected for the price. Very comfortable and relaxing. After a long night at Lollygaggers and Mickey's, we were riding the struggle bus pretty hard in the morning, which made getting out of those plush beds an endeavor. The beds come with multiple pillows that have cleverly embroidered pillow cases that read "soft," "medium" and "firm." I've stayed at a ton of hotels, and have never seen anything like that. I would expect to find a perk like that at the Safety Harbor Spa & Resort, not a Holiday Inn Express. The second most important part for me was the cleanliness of the tub in the bathroom. I know being a chamber maid is not the most exciting or glamorous job in the world, but I really like it when they take the time to get the tub right. No black mildew or mold anywhere to be found. Everything was spotless and well stocked. So whoever you are, thank you! I hope you're Christmas bonus is substantial. Free breakfast. I was expecting one of the continental sort, but I was wrong. This was a full on offering, complete with eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, toast, french toast, pancakes, bagels, cereal, milks, juices bananas and coffee. The food area was clean and well stocked, and two workers were buzzing around in a frenzy-like state keeping it that way. There is either some serious worker's pride going on here, or the manager beats them with a spiked club before the end of their shift. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Crystal River.

We arrived late after 11 pm. Front door was locked had to buzz in. Great security! Very nice guy at check in, Nice lady at front desk in morning. She gave me information about seeing manatees. Breakfast was great. Lots of choices : scrambled & boiled eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, breads, muffins, bagels, pancakes, cereal, milk, juice, coffee, instant oatmeal cups... lots of choices. Our room was nice clean & ac worked great! Nice place.

Nice breakfast bar included with stay. They have a pancake machine. Was expecting a waffle maker like we've seen at most other hotels.

After reading all the reviews, I would say give this place another try. We recently stayed there during their soft reopening after Hurricane Helene. While there was not many guests, reception, continental breakfast and housekeeping were all handled well. The room is akin to a basic hotel room, no frills but comfortable and there is a mini fridge. It was comfortable. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower. My favorite feature is the manatee water fountain at the front of the property. Even if you choose to stay elsewhere, stop by to check out the fountain.

Booked directly with hotel. This is the price of a decent room in a decent hotel. First, this place is undergoing renovations from a prior flood a few years ago (why still under renovation after so long?) - so expect nothing fancy. There was trash around the grounds and hallways. The sound traveled down the halls into the rooms because of all the tile - expect LOTS of noise. We had to call maintenance because our dresser drawers kept rolling out - they sent someone up to tape the drawers shut (classy!). This place is the quality of a Motel 6! They did not provide full service housekeeping - they only changed towels and did not straighten up or even make the beds. When I asked about this, they said they made this change recently because they lacked staff. But, the price did not change as a result. I argued that I was not informed of this on booking and since they removed this service after I booked the rooms they should charge less. The manager checked with the new owners who said they would not refund anything. Obviously they care less about customer service than making a profit. Sad. When you stay in a hotel, you should have your beds made (they don't have to change the linens, but at least make the beds). The breakfast - cold stuff, nothing special. The lady who oversaw this was very friendly though. This place is just dirty and outdated (even the so called "renovated" parts). The only good thing is it being conveniently located next to the charter boats for scalloping. I would not stay here again.

Susan Elliott and Michele Allen have become like family to me. I was assisted in every aspect of my search, and there was nothing that either Susan or Michele could have done better. Both agents were available to me, gave me feedback, directed me to a local lender, the title company, inspection services, cleaning personnel and were a wealth of information on anything and everything that I could think of. The amount of time which these agents devoted to me was overwhelming because I was a small bit player and The Elliott Group had far larger properties to work with. However, from the get-go, Susan told me that they treat every client exactly the same and did they ever live true to their word. Susan and Michele have become friends to me, and as I am moving to Ocala alone, to know that I have their expertise, their friendship, and their support makes me feel much better about such a move. I have made friends for life, and Susan has been my Guardian Angel from Day One! I love these two women and I have already passed out their business cards to folks up north looking to relocate to Florida. There are no coincidences and Susan Elliott and Michele Allen have made the entire process flow smoothly from start-to-finish. I cannot thank them enough and all I can do is to thank them many times daily! We received another confirmation email prior to our arrival that made it clear early check-in before 3 could not be accommodated so we were careful to arrive between the check-in hours of 3-9 PM. Check-in was easy and the room was very well appointed with everything we needed. We've stayed in everything from 5-star hotels in Europe and Indonesia to very cheap motels in small towns. This hotel competes with some of the better places we have stayed. The hotel is has been renovated by the owners and matches the cute quaint vibe of the city itself, Crystal River. It is also within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the water / boat ramps which we loved. The room came with a bottle of wine and some sweet treats which we really appreciated. Especially once we learned that getting a spot for dinner on Valentines Day in the small town was pretty much impossible. Because of this we opted to get carry out, open our wine, and enjoy the dessert left in the room. As others mentioned the room was spotless, we found the decor to be current and fresh, the bathroom was stunning, and the AC and refrigerator were perfect. We will return at the next possible time and highly, highly recommend.
