This was a nice place to stay while we went to see the manatees! Pretty close to whatever you might need. I would say this is a pretty standard Holiday Inn Express experience- fresh cookies in the lobby, free breakfast, small market. They had cute manatee items for sale too which was a nice touch. Our room was spacious and clean and the beds were super comfy. It was easy to request more pillows as well. The parking lot was spacious during the day and filled up a bit at night. The gym was super small but the pool looked really fun! Kind staff, clean rooms, and a decent breakfast- great place to call home base during any manatee activities! read more

We made a reservation for this hotel around four o'clock in the afternoon. We told the person on the phone that we had a dog, wanted the first floor if possible, and featherless pillows and bedding. When we checked in around 9:00 it was like nobody bothered to read the reservation. The desk clerk was like the only one here and there were a lot of people checking in. So when she told me told me the room was on the second floor I asked about our requests. She said there was no one else there. Then she gave us a room on the first floor and said I don't have anyone else here to check the bedding, it's just me. Then she didn't realize we had a dog which I repeatedly mentioned. Otherwise our stay was great, comfortable bed, quiet air conditioner and nice bathroom. The breakfast is a plus too. But when someone has allergies, it shouldn't be taken lightly and brushed off by " oh well". read more

On our trip Crystal River to attend a local seafood festival I looked at which hotel made the most sense, this was the obvious choice being I've accrued several hundred thousand points being a Spire Elite member with IHG properties. Booking this room for one night using points was painless using the App and checking in proved to be a pleasant experience as well. The front desk was friendly, professional and accommodating. If there were any concerns it was that the clerk accidentally overcharged my credit card for incidentals he acknowledged the error and ensured me it would be correct upon checkout which it was. I grabbed a bellman's cart just inside the entrance to the lobby and after loading it I made my way to the elevator. The doors opened on the fourth floor and the cart struggled a little with the two swivel wheel leading so I spun the cart one-hundred and eighty degrees and proceeded to the room, the access key card worked as program and we were in the room. Unlike a few of the other reviewers stated, this room was made up and appeared to be immaculate after a ten point inspection (an essential step before unpacking and accepting the room) we settled in. The accommodations and staffing were outstanding and although the complimentary breakfast didn't play into my decision to stay here but it did play into my final rating for this review - after seeing the unbelievable behavior in the breakfast nook I doubt I'll eat breakfast at these hotels again other than a cup of coffee or a few cartons of milk or a individual wrapped muffin or fruit okay maybe cereal if in the single serve boxes and maybe a yogurt or breakfast bar but never never the hot foods on the buffet - although it's not completely the hotel's fault for the inexcusable behavior of their customers the lack of an attendant is and that provided the opportunity for people to pick food with their hands and tasting food before choosing - what's wrong with you people show some restraints - I'm going back to Grannies Restaurant if I ever stay here again... read more

I'm here in Florida taking care of my father in law who's 96 years old. I originally started my stay at Best western and that was a huge mistake. Roaches and terrible housekeeping. I moved over to Holiday Inn Express and I'm happy I did. The staff is nice and the place is clean. Morning breakfast is good, nothing crazy but good for a quick bite before starting my long day. I'm a true believer that when you come across a person who goes above and beyond, you should acknowledge them. Justin at the front desk takes pride in the service he provides and I recommend that holiday inn express get a few more Justin's and this hotel would be 5 stars. I'm coming back in a couple days for another long stay and I'm happy I have Holiday Inn booked. Definitely recommend. The best hotel in the area! read more

We stayed here over the New Year. Good online price. Conveniently located. Nicely decorated for the holidays. There was coffee available by the check in. There was a sign at the desk that said there was hot chocolate chip cookies but I didn't ask about them. The room was clean and large. Lots of pillows on the bed so you had your choice of size. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. It was a very quiet hotel. Friendly staff. The best part was the breakfast. Hot and cold choices. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, bacon, oatmeal, cereal yogurt, fruit, muffins and pastries. The real treat - a hot cinnamon roll station. We came to visit a loved one who was quite ill, so we weren't the "average tourist visitor." As the visit was extended, we were treated to such kind, thoughtful, and caring service and support, we felt so blessed. Every single human that we encountered was friendly, and warm - they helped us through this very difficult time and made us feel at home. From the very first moment we checked in (quite late) and received a very comprehensive tour from the man who served as our Night Reception greeter. We were amazed at his enthusiasm at what for us was quite late at night. Big Smiles, immediate connections, and a genuine attitude that held an offer of "let me help." The folks behind the counter acted as true Concierges - handling all sorts of requests with a smile. To top this off, the place was very clean - the rooms were comfortable and well maintained. Great deal and great location. Always found a parking space. Staff are easy to talk to. Lovely complimentary breakfast, served from 6:30-9:30am. Comfy beds with both soft and firm pillows. We were in town to do the manatee and air boat tours. Getting around town didn't take very long. We had to drive out to Homosassa for the air boat tour, that took less than 30 minutes. That's the maximum time it took for us to get somewhere, most places were about 5-10 minutes drive. I really do love small towns. Oh it's a 1.5 hour drive from the Tampa airport. Easy drive with some tolls along the way. This hotel is clean, bed bug FREE (wahoo!), affordable. Safe travels fellow Yelpers. read more

All we wanted was a clean quiet room. At first glance, the room looked nice. Later, I noticed there was long dark hair on the bathroom floor. Neither my husband nor I have long dark hair. Then during the night, I could hear conversations coming through the wall. I do not think the people next door were usually loud. There was the barking of a dog coming from across the hall. I think the problem is the construction of the rooms. Were there any soundproofing measures taken during the construction of the rooms? At breakfast in the morning, the only items in the refrigerator were non-fat milk and non-fat plain yogurt. The coffee tasted metallic and weird. The orange juice and cranberry juice should be called "orange drink" and cranberry drink". You can't call it juice. It tasted terrible. Here are my suggestions: Cluster guests who want quiet rooms in the same area of the hotel. Cluster guests with dogs in the same area of the hotel. read more

This was the half way point to our destination in South Florida. We stopped here and swam with manatees! The hotel was clean and was centrally located (two most important things for me). We stayed here during the pandemic, so no buffet breakfast. And their "brown bag" breakfast was disappointing. Luckily there are several good restaurants close by. read more

Boom! A rare 5-star from Señor Mark H. Admittedly, we attempted to stay at The Plantation first, but they were booked solid for a wedding. We just don't get out to the Nature Coast very often, so La Chica and I found ourselves feeling dejected. They suggested the Hampton Inn a few minutes south, so out of spite, we went north. This mini-trip up U.S. 19 from Clearwater was a spontaneous decision, so we had no change of clothes or toiletries. All we had was ourselves and our adventurous attitudes. When we explained this to Beth at the desk, so gave us some goodies to help us save money at the store. We got shave cream, a razor, toothpaste, combs, toothbrushes and shower caps. I am looking at her like, "shower caps?" I'm bald, so I had no idea people still use those. The room was great, and way nicer than what we expected for the price. Very comfortable and relaxing. After a long night at Lollygaggers and Mickey's, we were riding the struggle bus pretty hard in the morning, which made getting out of those plush beds an endeavor. The beds come with multiple pillows that have cleverly embroidered pillow cases that read "soft," "medium" and "firm." I've stayed at a ton of hotels, and have never seen anything like that. I would expect to find a perk like that at the Safety Harbor Spa & Resort, not a Holiday Inn Express. The second most important part for me was the cleanliness of the tub in the bathroom. I know being a chamber maid is not the most exciting or glamorous job in the world, but I really like it when they take the time to get the tub right. No black mildew or mold anywhere to be found. Everything was spotless and well stocked. So whoever you are, thank you! I hope you're Christmas bonus is substantial. Free breakfast. I was expecting one of the continental sort, but I was wrong. This was a full on offering, complete with eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, toast, french toast, pancakes, bagels, cereal, milks, juices bananas and coffee. The food area was clean and well stocked, and two workers were buzzing around in a frenzy-like state keeping it that way. There is either some serious worker's pride going on here, or the manager beats them with a spiked club before the end of their shift. I hardly write reviews with glowing results, but I must say this is one of them. I was in the area on a manatee snorkel trip and needed a one night stay over. I read the reviews, and they are true. This place is spot on. Decent breakfast, quick check in, plenty of parking, and good location. You're about 8-10 minutes away from a shopping spot in case you want other things, but there's a restaurant across the street and a few pizza places you can drive to locally. Room was spotless, TV was good (reception on some of the main channels was spotty..), bed comfortable, Wifi signal was strong anywhere I went in the hotel. Wish it were warmer as I'd love to have gone swimming (outside pool) but next time. Good job! read more

My only complaint was that the window in our room did not have a curtain to block out the morning light. We like to sleep in a little later than usual in the light comes in very bright. I stayed here while in Crystal River to swim with manatees with River Ventures (highly recommend them, btw). The hotel is immaculately clean, and has good-sized rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff, FREE wireless internet that worked perfectly (even well enough to stream video), nice pool area, and a pretty good breakfast (pre-made omelettes, bacon, muffins, toast, biscuits and gravy -- no make-your-own waffles though). All this for less than $100 a night -- what a deal. Oh and the entire hotel is smoke-free, which I love, since I have asthma and am very allergic to cigarette smoke. Location is great too, right on Route 44, less than a mile from the River Ventures tour meeting point and close to lots of restaurants, including a good Cuban restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Crystal River. read more

Although this property was highly recommended by our local friends, staying here was a disaster. When we checked in to the room, I wasn't feeling well. So I just feel into the bed. As I started to feel better, I noticed our room was never cleaned, just the beds were made. In the days of COVID this is beyond unacceptable, it is and was a huge health risk; garbages were full, used towels were on the floor, food in the refrigerate and no documentation or notice that this room was cleaned according to COVID guidelines. We called guest services. No night manager was available. But we did get a new room. A little late after our potential COVID exposure. The morning manager,when approached said he would give us 25% off this way over priced room of almost $150/night. Now I leave with my mask in social distancing hoping my husband & I were not exposed to COVID. Do not stay here. They do not know when their rooms are clean. Below is the card that was missing in the room we checked into. Shame on you holiday inn We walk away probably needing to be quarantined and your loss is about $40. Really?? read more

This was one of our most pleasant hotel experiences on our Florida Trip. We only stayed for one night and had a manatee tour booked for early in the Morning. We were afraid that we would miss out on the free breakfast but it is provided from 6 AM - earlier than at most other plates we stayed at. The breakfast itself was not bad- typically American with disposable plates and cutlery which I am not a big fan of. The food was good though with a decent selecion- loved the hot Cinnamon Rolls! The staff at the reception was exceptionally friendly, both at Check In and Check out which was quick and uncomplicated. The room was great - spacious and comfortable with a very nice bathroom. The bathroom amenities (Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Lotion) are from Bath & Body Works and I really liked them. Overall I can only recommend HIE Crystal River. read more

I have stayed at holiday inn expresses all over Florida and this is the best one I have stayed at. It is a brand new building and so it does not smell bad like the other holiday inn expresses that were converted old hotels. The air conditioner is quiet and very cold. The beds are new and very comfortable. There is a real coffee marker in the room, not one of those packet cheap ones. The pool is heated. The lobby is beautifully decorated. Each room had two queens or two queens. The rooms are huge. The place is quiet. Two new elevators are fast. There is a laundry room which worked great. The price is the same or less then the other dumps I stayed at in Orlando and Florida City. I would love to come and stay again, but the manatees are not around. read more

My sister and I booked this hotel for our trip to go swim with manatees! We did our manatee tour with Manatee Tour and Dive (I also have a review of them on here) and this hotel was about 5 minutes away from that location. Our check-in was a breeze and our first encounter with the staff was quite comical. The evening staff (perhaps manager?) was very friendly and got us checked in quickly. The room was very clean and the beds were so very comfortable!! The room had a mini fridge, microwave, and free wifi. Our first breakfast here was a bit rushed, but it was very convenient and they have a wide variety. They had coffees, juices, cereals, delicious cinnamon rolls, eggs, sausage or bacon (it would switch each day), sausage gravy, biscuits, muffins, bread for toasting, make-it-yourself pancakes, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, milk and fresh fruit. I believe there were also packets of instant oatmeal from what I remember. They had a promotion going where breakfast was available until NOON on the weekends and it was super convenient because we are not morning people. The area seemed nice with fast food and restaurants within a short (2-5) minute drive. The second night we decided to go check out some nightlife and decided to take some pictures in the lobby which is very pretty. My sister and I were taking turns taking pictures of each other when the same man from the night before offered to do a photo shoot for us! It was very funny as he had us sit in different poses and directed us as he went. Overall, I would DEFINITELY stay here again if I am in this area. THANK YOU!! read more

James at the front desk was amazing! We were there to swim with the manatee and when we told him he immediately offered us a late check out, so we could shower before our drive back to Fort Myers. He was so helpful in choosing restaurants and always smiling! The room was the cleanest I think I have ever stayed in at a hotel, and Henry (I think is his name) at breakfast was polite and working his but off to keep things clean and filled, and again had a smile for everyone. Breakfast was very good, coffee available all day, and cookies at the front desk for a little snack, nice touch! Great place!
