Moxy Edinburgh Airport - Yes ... to the bar we go

Moxy Edinburgh Airport

This hotel is within walking distance to/from the airport. If you will be dragging your luggage,…read morejust know that it's bumpy and not a smooth pathway. Sometimes it rains too, so be prepared for that, as this is not a covered pathway. It feels very boutiquey!! Walking in, it's black&white checkerboard retro theme, actual book poles, and hot pink walls. They have a Photo Booth, a Star Wars pinball game (I think), a foosball table, and a pool table. I do not know if you need to pay to play those or not, as I didn't check. Check in with the person at the bar for your room assignment, and just know that your breakfast will not be free (even if you have status with Marriott). There is a selection of pastries/eggs/sausage/cereals/meats/cheeses/juices for breakfast. You are supposed to grab a tray located underneath the utensils, and place everything on there in one shot, if possible. If you bring your things to a table and leave them unattended, staff may think you left and will clean the area/throw away whatever was there pretty quickly. When you are done eating, you are supposed to bring your tray to the racks next to the kitchen hallway and slide them in 2 trays per rack. Rooms are very efficient- don't be expecting a lot of space at this place!! Shower was warm within 2 seconds!! Bed was clean and plushy. As an airport hotel, it's ideal for being close by the airport. We did not have a vehicle but were warned that any vehicle that enters the parking lot needs to be registered, even if it's just for a few minutes. Nothing is free, except for WiFi!! ;)

I should have checked Yelp before staying. I had the same experience of parking my rental car while…read moredropping bags off, returning the rental car, receiving a notice a few days later that included an administration fee, and then having my appeal to Parkingeye denied. A 122 GPB hotel stay cost me an additional 95 GPB in parking fines. Even though the hotel's website says parking is included with an overnight stay. Absolute rip off! Don't stay here or at any Moxy property.

The White Lady - Und wenn es ans Übernachten geht: Die Zimmer sind sehr praktisch ausgestattet und mit einer Portion Kitsch dekoriert

The White Lady

I visited The White Lady last weekend. As a resident in the area I was keen to see what…read moreWetherspoon's had done with Agenda, and I was sorely disappointed with the result. The place is a clone of all other Wetherspoon pubs across the whole UK - it was foolish to think that there might be any uniqueness to this place. It is now very expansive inside, think Standing Order tables and decor. For a Sunday afternoon it was completely rammed with loud, drunken louts taking advantage of the cheap drinks on offer. I've never seen so much fake tan and exposed belly on show on a Sunday avo - what a disaster. This is the last place I would ever look to visit in the Corstorphine area for a quiet Sunday lunch. Food was typical Wetherspoon's fare. After waiting a ridiculous 20 minutes, a lentil and bacon soup arrived that had the consistency and look of fresh sick. Upon requesting a change to tomato due to the vomity consistency and chunderous smell, we were informed there would be another 20 minute wait. For one bowl of soup. What were the chefs doing? Growing and then pureeing tomatoes from scratch?! Anyway. This place is not for me. If you want a cheap, loud watering hole for a bit of boozing and like an ogle at badly fake-tanned bulbous bellies then it's probably for you.

The white lady has many advantages, the price are very reasonable and they have great deals on…read moretheir food menu, the venue is big so you are likely to find a table and it accommodates big groups. So why only 3 stars I hear you ask.... Probably because it comes with no thrills and lacks of originality. The decor is common, the service is OK, the drinks are just what you would expect them to be but that's what I expect from a chain pub and that's OK if you want a night out without burning a hole in your wallet. Also it has a good outside area with table and outside heaters which comes very handy on a Scottish sunny day.
