Expectation, huge clean and clear pool
    April Marie B.

False advertising, Bugs, and they hire people in management positions that lack core skills like customer service , professionalism and common sense to be in any position none the less a manager. I will give them -10 stars if I could They falsely advertised their accommodations and their room. And after all of this I have not heard back from guest relations, the manager wouldn't even listen or cared to ask what the problem is & I finally reach them through Facebook to which replied and said they reached back out to the manager who came back and said that all I did was complain, (She had great customer service skills by the way it was almost like they were just so desperate they pointed at her and said "you'll do") Manager would NOT even speak to me regarding the issue , was rude and unprofessional as soon as I went to return my keys she was shaking her head and rolling her eyes and said she wasn't giving me the rate of another hotel. Seems that the clerk I spoke to the evening before the manager to expect me at checkout & that I would be down speak to her . I said "good morning " and told "the clerk" that I was intending to talk with the manager but I was in a rush and to ask her to call me . The woman responded " I am the Manager, what is your problem!?" Her aggressive demeanor was completely unnecessary, and by far the most ignorant, rude tone & demeanor I've EVER experienced from a hotel nonetheless a MANAGER! I then reiterated that I was in a rush and I needed her to call me which is when she started shaking her head and rolling her eyes and I said "why are you doing that? why are you shaking your head at me ??" She responded that she wasn't going to give me the rate of another hotel and I said "that's not even the problem ! " ( it seems whoever told her I'd be down relayed the message to her incorrectly ) Regardless she then NEVER ONCE actually asked me what my concerns were. I said well to start the false advertising that you guys had . I said the pool was green and filled with algae , I said it looks nothing like the pool displayed online . To which she responded that they don't control the photos that go up on the Internet . " I then responded are you telling me that Google comes into your hotel and takes the pictures and then post them ? " she then threw her hands up and respond with "well then why did rent it?" How could I KNOW that they were lying about what the pool looked like ? She then walked back in the office away for me so I said that's fine I will reach out to corporate. All the way home I have tried numerous occasions to reach out to corporate I've left messages for them to call me back from HR and guest relations as well as guest relations for awards members and I have not gotten a response I just held on the phone again for another 23 minutes and was disconnected. This is the biggest scam if I've ever seen one! I still intend to contact HR to report her nasty behavior but below are the issues I had which is why I'm asking for my money back. I have included photos that were posted on Google which is what I was expecting including the rate and then what I actually got. However upon arrival the room did not have a couch and in fact was not any wider than the room with the double beds which is shown in the picture l. ( False advertisement #1) The second issue was that they was hair in the bathroom and a bug. When I reported it to the front desk I was told that's just a water bug all nonchalant. I don't care what kind of bug it was for a rate of $187 there shouldn't be any bugs in the Hotel. And then one of the reasons I rented this hotel was because it had a large pool ( advertised in the picture) there was a similar hotel not far up the street for $84 but it had a smaller pool. I called to confirm that the pool at this location was up and operational and that is why I proceeded to rent this hotel. However you will see in the picture that my expectation was very far off from what reality was the pool was extremely tiny there was black mold on the concrete surrounding the pool and it was green from algae. It looked nothing like what was advertised in the photo and it didn't look like it been cleaned in a quiet while. The unprofessional and down right ignorant demeanor of that manager really disgusts me. It instills that they are well aware of this scam that they are running and have no regard for the money that they're taking from hard working people. This is the first vacation I've had in 3 years with my children and Trisha absolutely ruined it.

    Complementary breakfast M-F 6:30-9:30am, weekends 7-10am

This place is really clean, rooms were stocked well and had all the standard amenities you could want in your typical hotel, and the complementary breakfast was bomb! They have really friendly staff as well. There is a Dunkin Donuts that shares the parking lot with the hotel in case you're into that as well. Overall we had a great stay and I'd recommend this place to a friend.

The hotel is supposedly dog friendly and we paid an extra $75 dog fee upon arrival. I called the hotel and spoke to Janine and asked her if we could have a room on the first floor, non allergic pillows and if the dogs were allowed to stay in the room while we went out. The answer was yes. Our dalmation is very well behaved and we have left her for short periods like while we were having dinner. Last year we traveled across the country and never had a problem. So last night the family had a pre graduation dinner on St. George's Island. We were finished around 8:30 and as I was leaving I got a call from the hotel that Freckles was barking. We were on our way back and about an hour away. Then I got another call while we were driving. It took us an hour to get back and I apologized. I never want to upset other patrons at a hotel. By the way, the room was on the third floor, not the first as we asked for. So we were not allowed to leave Freckles today and I missed the graduation. I was broken hearted bc we had just traveled two days to get here. The night before we were in a La Quinta Inn in Selma, North Carolina. This hotel was loaded with dogs and they barked on and off but no problem. So maybe this Hilton Inn should advertise "bark-less dogs". Or at lat least put them in an area where they wouldn't bother anyone. We're spending another night here because we already paid for the room. Freckles will come with us everywhere. Fortunately there are many restaurants with patio seating. Unfortunately we couldn't bring her to graduation- my loss. PS. The staff and breakfasts were excellent! They even let us bring Freckles to the other side of the lobby so we could have breakfast. They brought the food to us! Thank You!

After a very pleasant check in, we got our travel bags into our room, which was very clean and comfy. We had a brief visit to the hotel bar, where we received a very good recommendation for a breakfast spot the next morning. After breakfast, we hit the pool area. We had sunscreen, water and snacks. The pool area was very clean and members of the staff came out periodically to check the water, clean out debris, etc. They even asked if we needed some bottles of water! Everyone we came in contact with at this hotel was wonderful. We definitely will come back when we need a little vacation from home.

The Inn at Tacaro Estate has a lot going for it. The mansion exudes old world charm from an era…read morethat I can only read about in books and magazines. It is a magnificent estate home in a storybook setting. The man who built the home, Taylor Chewning, owned a large brick foundry and that is evident throughout the grounds. The mansion itself is brick, many of the walkways are brick, the extensive stables are brick. This brick added to the almost palatial feeling of the Inn. The view from the front lawn (and from the back lawn actually) put us both at ease; it is a place to sit and read - completely relaxing. The Inn allows us to step out of the hectic and crowded life we have in the city; it transports us to rolling lawns, the smell of fresh grass, beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay. For a short weekend trip away from DC, it was a nice way to unwind. However, there are things about the Inn that keep it from being five - or even four - star. I get that the bathrooms are original to the house, vintage and keeping with the ambiance of the mansion (which was originally built in 1940). That is interesting but, for me, when I am treating myself to a weekend away, I want a modern bathroom with modern features. I want a walk-in shower, 2 sinks, a separate toilet room. The 1940's style of the bathroom was a complete let-down for me. Now, I knew it would be like this because the pictures on the Inn's website showed the bathroom. So, I was not surprised. But, staying there for a weekend emphasized that the world of design, particularly in bathrooms, has progressed a lot - I bet even the Chewnings (original owners) would not put up with the current state of these bathrooms. There was plenty of room in our suite to expand the bathroom and renovate it into a modern, first-rate spa-like oasis. If the Inn wishes to up its game, it will have to do that. Likewise, there were smaller cues that reflected a lack of modernization and elegance. Poorly hung wallpaper, mis-matched furniture perhaps purchased from yard sales, electric cords handing loosely all over our room, outdoor furniture that is not in great condition, windows that are dirty and paint peeling here and there. The Inn at Tacaro Estate misses being a 1st class destination because the little things are not up to par. The service is also lacking. They try but, like some of the facilities, they miss the mark here. My overall lasting impression of the Inn at Tacaro Estate is rather like Blanche Dubois from Streetcar Named Desire. Old world charm and elegance trying to remain swanky but actually run-down and not maintained, failing to meet current standards of hospitality. The beautiful dress that Blanche wore as a young girl in high society is now tattered and torn here and there. I can appreciate the posh clothing from another time but I also recognize that it is old and weathered. The owners have a very special piece of land and a beautiful home here. But they need to bite the bullet, spend the money and upgrade the finishes, the furniture and the service if they hope to make the Inn a real upscale destination. In the 1940's, I am certain that this mansion exuded money and upper-class refinement. However, for my stay here in the 2020's, it is more of a historical glimpse of pre-WWII society. I am willing to pay for luxury and that is what I want for a weekend away. But Tacaro Estate simply does not provide luxury. For these reasons, I cannot recommend a stay at the Inn at Tacaro Estate. I hate to give this place this tepid review. However, I feel that I am being honest.

When we checked-in we learned that there were three weddings happening that weekend. The people working the front desk were beyond kind and helpful. My dad then picked us up at the docks at this Hyatt on his boat which was so easy an amazing. The room itself was just what we needed. It even had a pull out couch. The only complaint was that the bathroom didn't have a fan and steamed up really quickly and the AC was a bit weaker than expected. The water pressure was really strong and nice. It was enough space for four people for a night. Parking was easy to find. And the morning breakfast had a lot of great options. I especially loved that they had oak milk. I would stay at this Hyatt Place again and recommend it!

Morning two eggs or pumpkin pancakes. Both were great. Only negative was the shower in our room. It was a stall shower, which we knew, but the water pressure was terrible. Before we left I planned a surprise sailing cruise for my fiancé and Aida left a sweet note about the gift from me and vouchers for complimentary gelato around the corner for us. She is so accommodating even when a few little things didn't go as planned for us. (Car trouble, weather... not her doing at all but she made them easier to manage.) She has great suggestions for what to do in St. Michael's. Breakfast was set up beautifully in the morning and cooked to order. Portions were huge if you wanted them. We are lighter eaters and once I told her that she gave us perfect smaller portions, but if you want a big breakfast you will not be disappointed here. The inn only has about eight rooms, and each is different. Ours was very comfortable with flowers, art and antiques wherever I looked. There's central air and the softest towels I think I've ever used. She lets you keep stuff in the fridge and even said we could use her laundry when my fiancé sat on something and messed up his pants. We had leftovers when we needed to leave and she gave us a styrofoam cooler to take with us... that will be used a lot this summer, I'm sure. The location is walking distance to most things in town, so while there is off street parking, we walked most of the time. You can't go wrong here with Aida's Victoriana Inn! Note, though, a lot of businesses and restaurants in town are operating at partial capacity or reduced hours, or are closed due to Covid 19. This has nothing to do with the Victoriana Inn, but it is worth calling ahead if you have specific things you want to do while in town to make sure they're available. We had to shift some dining plans but it was a last minute getaway and we didn't care all that much. It a worked out but if you have your heart set on something, check in advance to make sure you'll be able to do it.
