The first image you get is how clean the hotel is! The staff are all friendly and accommodating. It's conveniently located from the interstate and major highways and close to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center it's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. They had a continental breakfast in the morning. It has the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage, scrambled egg and fruit. They also suggested a couple of nearby restaurants for both breakfast and supper. I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot, plentiful and available.I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping, It's an old school way of thinking and I hope you as travelers will consider adopting it. The room had all the space I needed and in a Mini refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. Everything was working just fine and very clean as I said, I was impressed with the staff and their willingness to try to help me in any way that they could. This hotel is by far the best place to stay in Socorro. I've stayed here multiple times for work over the years and it never disappoints. The staff is always friendly and building is well kept. It's near almost all of the restaurants and they are within walking distance. So is Walmart if you need some supplies. Breakfast starts at 6am through the week and 7am on the weekends. Be advised it can be hard to get rooms if you are staying for extended stays. Try to book way in advance. read more

A Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience with Customer Service at Holiday Inn Express Socorro I have been a loyal IHG Rewards member for 15 years and have consistently had positive experiences at Holiday Inn Express locations--until now. The level of unprofessionalism and outright dismissive customer service I encountered before even arriving at the Holiday Inn Express in Socorro, New Mexico, was beyond unacceptable. In December, I booked a reservation at this location, but the staff member who assisted me mistakenly set it for the same day instead of the correct date two months later. Unfortunately, I didn't catch this error immediately. When I later realized the mistake and called to rectify the situation, I was met with outright refusal to help, a lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for customer service standards. Compounding the issue, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, I attempted to contact the hotel to address the reservation problem, but their phone systems were down for nearly 24 hours. While I understand that technical issues can occur, this outage significantly hindered communication and added to the stress and complexity of the situation. When I finally reached the front desk representative, she refused to let me speak with a manager and flatly stated that I would not be refunded for the no-show charge. When I requested that my reservation be corrected, she initially refused--only to suddenly change her stance after I mentioned escalating the issue to IHG corporate. This alone was troubling, but her behavior quickly escalated. She accused me of being "entitled" and "rude", which could not be further from the truth. I never raised my voice, never used inappropriate language, and was seated in front of a colleague who was listening to the entire conversation and can confirm my professionalism. When I mentioned that my colleague was listening, she dismissively responded, "Well, he's going to be on your side anyway," rather than addressing the issue professionally. After considerable back and forth, she reluctantly rebooked my reservation--only for it to mysteriously disappear from the system the next day. Whether this was an act of spite or further incompetence, it is simply inexcusable. This experience occurred before I even set foot in the hotel, and I have never encountered this level of dismissiveness and hostility from an IHG property before. I do not believe one unprofessional employee is necessarily representative of an entire hotel or brand, but this experience severely tarnishes my trust in this location and, by extension, IHG's standards for customer service. While I have no desire for this individual to lose their job, it is abundantly clear that they should not be working in a role that requires direct customer interaction. At this point, the only way I would ever consider staying at this location is if I were assured that this staff member was no longer employed there and that the management had taken steps to improve its professionalism. Until then, I will actively avoid this hotel and strongly caution others to do the same unless significant improvements are made. read more

This is probably the best hotel in Soccorro. I stayed here while in town for work and had a great experience. Everything from booking to check in and the stay went without complaints. There was an outdoor patio area that my friends and I frequented for some beverages. I will most likely stay here again in the near future. read more

First impressions matter, and unfortunately, we had a bad one due to the laziness and nastiness of the evening desk clerk on February 25, 2025. When asking her very politely if we could have another room because it was right across from the noisy elevator, she at first replied that the hotel was full. She then stated that three rooms were available, but she couldn't help me. Puzzled by this, I stood there. She then grabbed my key card, did give me another room, which I was able to access by the key card thrown at me! No other complaints, staff in the morning were very nice. read more

This town doesn't have much to offer and the Holiday Inn is at least a beacon of hope. Management is super friendly and attentive and this is the nicest hotel in town period. Breakfast was on the weak side and disappointing. Parking is a bit of a cluster eff as well. Even with those drawbacks I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Grateful I found accommodations after setting foot in the nearby Super 8 (eeewww) This was a blessed oasis. Granted they are remodeling so there are minor inconveniences associated as such. But I'd rather them improve than let it go down! All personnel were welcoming and accommodating. From great suggestions of local food spots, to allowing me use of the toasters "after hours" Brand new room- I appreciated being "one of the first, 3rd floor boarders, to lay my head on new bed and pillow and sheets. Fresh carpet and bright and light bathrooms. And more outlets-lights-seating than a single person could use throughout the room! Method of closing and opening the blinds isn't the best: a chain you scroll up/down, but it kept the room dark enough. AC was surprisingly LoUD. While running had to turn up the tv/radio up to hear. Also had a loud cycling pitch while trying to sleep Otherwise I'm glad I got a room here and def would choose it again. Felt safe and comfortable. Breakfast was typical IHG -with turkey option and varied egg options-at lease not ALL Carbs like many "continental breakfasts" Breakfast is well stocked and kept clean. Plenty sitting options and 3diff TVs to watch. One washer, 2dryers on 2nd floor: $2 ea. A small weight room that suffices travel workouts. And an inside small pool that wasn't accessible during renovations. Centrally located you can walk to bking/mcD, gas station, and restaurants. Walmart is only a couple blocks down as well. read more

Staying here was such a pleasant experience that we extended our stay! Nicest Holiday Inn I've ever been in! One of the highest prices I've paid for a hotel, but absolutely worth the price! Whoever designed this hotel put some real thought and care into it! They also hired a fantastic staff! ALL of the hotel staff; every single person we dealt with could not have been nicer, more accommodating, gracious, easy-going, helpful, kind, and delightful! We felt welcomed and cared about. I would have hired every one of these staff people myself! The accommodations were clean, (looked new), extremely cozy, comfortable, and spacious, as well as beautifully designed, with extra perks like free breakfast, free wifi, free access to a 24-hour workout gym/room, lots of free parking, a free conference room and a nice dining area (pre/post-covid). The hotel also has excellent working central AC and heat, a coined laundry room on every floor, and everything is really accessible and well kept! The room my friend and I stayed in was set up like a really nice, charming little apartment! We were pleasantly surprised. It was surprisingly quiet, well-insulated, had a comfy sofa, with a pullout bed, several comfy chairs to sit (and meditate) in, a little den with two comfy chairs and a small table for sharing a meal with a second large, flat-screen TV (aside from the one in front of the bed), with non-commercial channels like multiple HBO channels, etc. (I'm not much of a TV watcher, but if I was this would matter to me.) The room also had a really nice little office desk with a touch dim-able lamp for lighting, a closet, with an iron, and a decent-size safe(!), plenty of counter, and storage space. The bathroom was beautiful, spacious and had both a great tub and shower! One of the nicest features was the almost omni-directional, large double pane windows; fantastic natural light, with the option for privacy, while still have natural light as well as making the room completely dark (with exception from electronics that light up the room a tad (the TV off light, and clock). - We loved, loved, LOVED the adjustable pull-up and down blinds with optional screen and blackout options!! What a thoughtful addition! It is very clear from the time you arrive until you leave that the hotel owner and/or manager cares that their guests have a great experience! Well done! Things have improved at the Holiday Inn. This year it was renovated and it's a whole new hotel. There really is no such thing as a perfect hotel but I gave this hotel five stars because of the efforts of the staff and the manager. All hotels make mistakes. It's how they deal with them that counts. I was here nearly a month and I was treated very well. There were two minor hiccups during the whole month and the staff/management dealt with them immediately, without getting defensive, and to my satisfaction. The new decor is inviting. The hotel seems quieter than in the old days. There is a good breakfast bar, as far as hotel breakfasts go. The beds are a little hard for my taste but many in my family prefer a hard bed so I won't mark them down for it. There is a gym, a laundry room, a conference room and plenty of free parking. Wifi seems improved over my last visit as well. I can highly recommend this hotel. As far as Holiday Inns go, it is among the best. read more

I get woken up at 5am and then again at 6am with the footsteps of the people on the floor above me. So not happy. This is a nice hotel. I found it a bit overpriced, but I think it might be one of the better hotels in Socorro and I didn't have much choice. The lobby was very nice, and the girl checking me in was wonderful. My room was big and had a frig and microwave. The bed was very comfortable, with clean sheets (a must for me). FANTASTIC BATHROOM - I loved it - very large, with a large space where the sink is. One thing about Holiday Inn, and I have mentioned this before, they have the BEST shower curtains; they are cloth and not those plastic kind that start to smell after a while. Great breakfast in the mornings - you can't beat an HI breakfast. The breakfast area was big and clean. Free wi-fi and free parking. I had to park around the back and it was a little dark back there, but the hotel was full and there was no parking in front. There are a lot of restaurants, gas stations, etc., very close by - even a Walmart. Why the 4 stars instead of 5, you ask? That's because I found it a tad overpriced; I think I paid around $120 - and it should be more like maybe between $80 - $100 a night. But, other than that, I have nothing to complain about. The light switches were confusing, but even I could figure it out. Would give 5 stars if the work out room was bigger, any more than two people in there is too much. read more

The staff members and all of the patrons of the hotel whom we saw during our visit were taking proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID. The "down side" to our stay was an extremely loud air conditioner in our room, which never worked quite right. Nicest hotel in Socorro, without a doubt. But, then again, there isn't much in Socorro. I stayed here for the IRTB class which was conveniently a short walk away. The staff was friendly and my room was nice. They offered a decent free, hot breakfast every morning. It consisted of cereals, fruit, powdered scrambled eggs, yogurt, sausage or bacon, waffle maker and some pretty good warm cinnamon rolls. I was able to get a good nights sleep every night thanks to a quiet, cool, clean room. The room had a mini fridge, the bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. I was a bit disappointed to see that the pool was indoors as I was hoping to work on my tan! Otherwise an excellent choice in Socorro. If you're paying for the hotel yourself it will be the most expensive in town. Not expensive for a major city but Socorro expensive. If you are coming for IRTB make sure you request this hotel right away or it will fill up! read more

This place was OK. My expectations were probably way out of line since I'd just come from the Tamaya Resort. Any-who. The room was nice, very large and new. I appreciated the huge bathroom and the couch area. Nice big bed. The breakfast was not that good. I've had much better free breakfasts elsewhere. Eggs were a clotty mass and bacon was weak. And this was at 8am. Having said that, it did the trick, and the dining area was nice and clean and new. Housekeeping leaves a bit to be desired. I was gone all morning on the first day of my stay and got back in the afternoon and my room hadn't been cleaned. To add to the mystery of it all, someone had come in my room and taken my bath mat, but not cleaned the room itself. The next morning a maid was banging on my door at 8:45am. I hadn't checked out yet and let her know that. Five minutes later, bang bang bang! I've stayed at many hotels that have a system in which they don't clean a room that's being vacated until the guest checks out. Not sure where the breakdown was. This place was quite pricey for Socorro and I will not be back. If I want a middling breakfast and banging on the door, I'm sure I can go up the street and get it for cheaper! :) read more

Most of the people going to class are either here or next door at the Best Western. Friendly, staff, free HOT breakfast, and the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Pro's - Free Hot breakfast, Easy check-in, clean nice rooms, walking distance to a lot of things. Free WiFi. Con's - The workout room is tiny, and doesn't really have much. Summary - I'd stay here again for certain. Walking distance to almost everything, and the staff was friendly and helpful. This is most definitely the nicest hotel in Socorro. If I could give it four and a half stars, I would. It's pricey and the breakfasts, while very nice, weren't *quite* as wonderful as the HIE in Grants. I'm holding them to a pretty high standard there, but there you have it. Kudos, though, for a hot breakfast with meat and for having one of those new-fangled pancake machines--two pancakes made fresh while you wait, and very good ones. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient (they steered us discreetly around some police officers in the lobby who were there about some tenant situation. Nice, large room. Good bed with nice linens. Huge, clean, well-stocked bathroom. I suspect that we will stay here next time we're in Socorro. I stayed here last week while on business travel. It is by far the nicest spot in town. The beds were super soft and as mentioned by another reviewer, you get 2 firm pillows and 2 soft pillows. I loved this! The pillows helped me sleep really well. The room was big, it had a couch and coffee table (living room area), a comfortable king bed, and a desk (work area). The breakfast was good, with eggs, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, four types of juices, etc. It is easier for me to wake up knowing there is breakfast to look forward to. :) The staff was friendly and responsive. The pool was perfect and the jacuzzi felt relaxing after a long day. My only compliant is that the wireless was really slow. I am used to having fast wireless and especially being on travel for business, I rely on it. I ended up going to the business center to use the wired connection there. read more

While this is by far the cleanest place to stay in Socorro, if you are in town on business, don't count on getting any work done at the hotel. At peak hours the internet is ridiculously slow. 3 out of 4 web pages failed to load, it took 15 min to send 1 email (text only). I dropped off 2 pairs of slacks at the front desk to be dry cleaned. I used the Laundry/Dry Clean slip from the closest and marked the dry cleaning option. My slacks were returned to me washed and folded, shrunken and wrinkled. The front desk stated that they do not offer dry cleaning service despite accepting the dry cleaning slip at the front desk. read more

We stayed here this past Thanksgiving while visiting my husband's grandmother - there were 26 or so people visiting so a lot of us had to go to a hotel. I was a little put off by that fact at first but whew! This place was SO NICE!!! Bear in mind my hotel experience is limited... but this is by far the nicest place I have ever been in. They put 2 pillows at every bed setting - one firm and one soft (they're labeled). Since it was just me and my husband and our son - that was 8 pillows for 3 people. My husband only likes one pillow at a time and my son is only 4 so one is plenty for him which meant 6 pillows for me - and I am a total pillow whore. I had asthma as a kid and couldn't sleep laying flat - the asthma is not a problem now but the habit is very ingrained plus I am pregnant which makes laying flat uncomfortable even for a normal person. I need lots of pillows and hate having to ask for more at the front desk. I was in pillow heaven here - I could have slept sitting straight up if I wanted! (But I didn't, I'm not THAT weird) The beds were SO comfy - wish I knew exactly why! Curtains made the room super dark. I slept better here than I have anywhere in my life - I missed it when we went home. It was so dark and pillowy and quiet and perfect. My son slept in bed with me which he had never done before this trip and I really didn't think that was going to go well but he slept great, too. he actually slept till 8am every day which is unheard of for him - he is my early bird, always up at 6:30 at home, ugh! (My husband and I are NOT morning people... ) Maybe they pump ether into the rooms after 11pm, who knows? There was a small exercise room down the hall from us with 1 bike, 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, and 1 weight thingie. It was usually empty. I had it all to myself 3 mornings but 2 people came in on the 4th when I was using it. No matter, i was there first so I got the remote control to the TV. :-) Cable TV all to myself and an exercise bike made me a happy girl. Wish I had tried out the elliptical to comment on that - usually I am an elliptical girl but have been sticking to the bike since pregnant. The equipment was all "True" fitness which seems to be a good brand. Bike was nice though more geared at tall people than the lifecyle bikes I am used to at home. Coffee pot, fridge, and microwave in all the rooms - nice. (I am not a coffee drinker but I like my tea and had brought some herbal tea with me, nice to be able to make it in my room) They are starting some "project planet" or something like that thing where they don't do room service or wash towels all the damn time like places used to - nice!!! I guess they will do it if you want to but we didn't and I am glad of that. Such a waste. Continental breakfast was very bountiful - nice!!! They had hard boiled eggs, even, which was awesome, since continental breakfast usually means "carb city." Not that I am low carb by ANY means but I like to have a little protein with most meals so that was a perk. The pool and hot tub were across from our room - looked nice but we never got to use them just due to the the hours we kept - we were at my husband's grandma's pretty much from breakfast/workout time till bedtime. Random candy dish and some chairs down the hall - big hit with my son. The free shampoo and conditioner samples smelled like cookies! The only thing I didn't like was the shower head, which was funny because for miles and miles on the high way you see signs about how HIE has the best rated shower head or some such thing. I guess it's OK if a gentle rain type shower is your thing. I like my shower head to be hard and pelting to better blast the soap off of me. This was one of those kind of big, wide heads... and I am kind of short... so with heads like this it's like by the time the water gets to me it's so spread out it drives me nuts and it's easier just to hold my head under the spicket to wash the shampoo out. Small price to pay for such dreamy, dreamy sleep though. Highly recommend - can't wait to stay in an HIE again. read more

The lobby and rooms are recently renovated, so that was nice; but we are SO DISAPPOINTED that the pool is closed! We came here to bring my son to New Mexico Tech. There is VERY little to do in Socorro so my plan was for me and my younger son to spend time in the pool hanging out. Well THAT didn't happen because the pool is CLOSED! The website doesn't say the pool is closed - and when we made reservations they didn't say the pool is closed - and when we called the hotel DIRECTLY to make sure we had 2 beds they didn't say the pool is closed. It's very disappointing. Currently my younger son and I are in the room watching TV. That's certainly NOT what I had in mind! I can't wait to leave tomorrow to continue our trip in a different part of New Mexico (Albuquerque). Had I known the pool is closed, I would have stayed somewhere else in Socorro!!! read more

Not kid friendly! I am pregnant mother of a two year old, and after 7 hours in the car from traveling to take care of some business while my husband is currently deployed, we were both in need of some R&R. When the room was booked it was stated that there would be a young child in the room, but the hotel placed us on the second floor. We weren't even there for an hour before the lady at the front desk was calling to inform us there were complaints about noise. My mother who answered the phone asked what we're supposed to do that she was two (at two years old it's a little hard for them to master the whole inside noise levels). The lady once again stated that there was noise complaints, and my mom tried to come up with a solution, and asked if they could move us to the first floor, which is where we should have been placed in the first place. She said she couldn't do that, they were booked. After a little longer of being told repeatly that were noise complaints, and being made to feel unwelcome we felt like the only option was to leave the room and go outside so she would no longer "be a bother." After about 45 minutes of her being outside in 100 degrees we decided it was best to pack up and travel the other 7 hours home. Any parent knows that there is no way to guarantee a two year old will be silent. Do not stay here, especially if you have young children! read more

Pricey by Socorro standards I suppose, but very reasonable anywhere else. Stayed there 4-2015 and picked it by how it looked from the street. Front desk people were great. Room was clean and modern. We had ZERO noise in room 303, which is part of the front of the building and has hallways inside rather than a door that opens to the parking lot. The continental breakfast was above average, and the nice lady working there offered to us to take a banana or whatever we wanted when we left. I've stayed at motels that charged WAY more than this and have gotten worse service. If for any reason we drive through Socorro again we will definitely stay here. read more

Honestly an amazing place! Whenever I'm in Socorro on business, I'll make sure to get my room at the Holiday Inn Express. Kind and caring staff, up-to-date and clean in all the common areas and rooms I've been in, and a really great complimentary breakfast with plenty of choices served every day. However, the last time I stayed on 7/6/16, I had to issue a noise complaint about a room BELOW me. While sitting in the lobby, there was a horrible woman screaming at the front desk staff about being treated poorly right before she walked out. I come to find out afterwards that she was staying in the room that I was complaining about. Myself and my colleagues who were also staying at the hotel could hear her child stomp and scream from across the hall and two floors away. The front desk staff although, were composed and polite the entire time this disagreeable woman was screaming at and insulting them. I have the utmost respect for the staff here at the Holiday Inn Express and I sincerely hope they never have to deal with that particular family again. read more
