A pretty great place that I will get the negatives out of the way first with. There is barely any parking in their lot for the amount of rooms that they have and I felt uncomfortable parking in the portion that is shared with the Publix because I felt like my car was going to get towed overnight. Aside from that this place was amazing and I was able to get checked in early so I could enjoy my one night here. I had a nice view of the lighthouse from my room and the sunset was beautiful that I got to see from the room as well. The room was super clean and I enjoyed the balcony our room had to sit out on for a little before it got too humid. The staff was super friendly and even at breakfast they were always walking around cleaning and handing out little juice cups to everyone! I think it is also awesome you can rent (for free) some beach items as long as you're a guest of the hotel! read more

My hotel reviews usually focus on handicap accessibility, particularly the bathroom. I'm happy to say that Holiday Inns Express are consistent in having top rate showers for the disabled. A walk in shower with a solid bench and rails are the norm. This HIE didn't disappoint. It's super convenient to the beach, the pier/marina, and dining. My husband and I just stayed here and can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay. From the moment we were greeted to when we left, the staff couldn't have been better. We spent time speaking with Fred, the owner and his sister Essie. What wonderful human beings they are. Michelle was the cook for breakfast and it' has to be, by far, the best buffet breakfast we've ever had at a Holiday Inn. The room was immaculate and parking was convenient. For Memorial Day weekend and wedding location nearby, the hotel was satisfactory. I like that we were able to park in a reserved free parking area with no difficulty. Beside it was a Publix where I got some food & drinks during our stay there. The hotel room was very small but we were able to get a room with a balcony and view of the heavy traffic town area. We managed to get around by using Lyft as transportation. The free breakfast was always a nice ammenity and the service was stellar. The room was clean yet the floors got easily dirty. It was a small walk to the beach and we enjoyed watching our first beach sunrise after so many years at Vilano Beach. read more

Everything from start to finish was awesome!!! Comfy beds and clean rooms to say the least! Check in is breeze and just a small walk to the sand and a beautiful beach. I requested a quiet room and that's exactly what we got . The view was the hotel across the way from my balcony, very entertaining! I got to see a traffic backup and a few sloshed individuals at evenings close..The best part about it all was Farid and the breakfast crew, it was an awesome breakfast with lots of options, highlights of it were the fresh fruit cups and the freshly baked banana chocolate chip muffins! Amazing experience! If you need a place to stay in Vilano beach this is the one! Also we walked to dinner at 180 Vilano beach and I had one of the best chicken Parmesan dinners I've ever had and John our waiter was awesome! Two thumbs up here for sure! read more

Great reserved parking and customer service upon arrival. Don't recommend going during a four day weekend spring/summer as the area becomes a traffic beacon and parking lot of people trying to come and go. We were here for a wedding and we didn't think that far ahead. So travel to and from room was a little awkward. Small room but offered a balcony for ease of viewing the street, but again you will be staring at cars coming and going for hours at peak times. Breakfast wasn't the best in my opinion but the nice attendant helps with your needs. read more

Great location, great service, great management and team. It's a quaint, clean, not modern, hotel that is in a perfect location...a few blocks from the beach and a few blocks from restaurants. It's across the bridge from the center of St. Augustine, which relates to a more calm, quiet environment, much more relaxing, not a lot of people. They offer beach equipment and a cart to pull it in for free, the owner will send someone to the store if they don't have something you want from their free breakfast buffet, e.g., non-dairy item. read more

Happy to have been able to stay at the Holiday Inn Express - Vilano Beach for my birthday getaway. This choice was perfect for me. It's a brand new hotel and when we stayed at the end of September it had been open for only 6 weeks! What I love about it is it's newness and also a five minute straight shot drive to Vilano Beach. I was able to wake up at 7am to get to the 715 sunrise on the beach. That made me super happy. Everyone is super nice. I encountered around 10 employees that worked there who were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are simple and new and my favorite part of it was the balcony. It was quite huge. The breakfast in the morning was loaded up. There was hot breakfast including two diff types of eggs, potatoes, hash brown, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and waffles. They also had fruit and yogurt and breads and muffins and juices and coffee. I would definitely stay there in a heart beat again for the convenience to the beach and the brand new condition. Also this is 10-15 minute drive over the bridge to St. Augustine. It's quite close to the Old Town, Fountain of Youth, and Old Jail side. They asked me what they can improve on. Initially I would say nothing. After the fact, I would say follow up. FYI: Like any hotel, they ask for a card for incidentals. They put a $25 on your card and say it will be off once you check out. For my card, which was a debit/cc it took 5-7 business days. Check in is 3pm, but u may want to call to see if it is ready. 11am is check out. Breakfast is 6am to 10am Monday through Sunday. They also have an indoor pool and free parking. Service dog friendly. read more

My family and I arrived in St. Augustine on a Monday evening. This was our first time in the area and we were delighted with quaintness of Vilano Beach. The location was very easy to get to and was a perfect distance from the touristy part of St. Augustine. It wasn't too far from the main attractions in St. Augustine either. It is also very convenient that there is a Publix located directly next to the hotel. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff is above and beyond! The customer service is amazing and very personable. The staff was constantly cleaning the hotel and greeting guests. We had a super easy check in too. We got a standard room on the 3rd floor. All the rooms have a balcony, which is lovely. Our room was definetly bigger than your typical standard room. It was quite large and even had a couch. My mother suspected that they upgraded our room upon finding out she was a IHG Gold Rewards Member. Either way, the room was much larger than a standard room. It was very clean, spacious, and the balcony was a great addition! The breakfast was spectacular, probably one of the best Holiday Inn breakfasts I've ever had. The breakfast is kept very well managed and cleaned. My family and I really appreciated the staffs service and their efforts to make sure everyone was satisfied. The breakfast items were not those of your typical Holiday Inn. There were two types of scrambled eggs, regular and one the staff made with sauteed onions, peppers, and various seasonings. There were also breakfast potatoes which also had seasonings that made them different from the typical breakfast fare at hotels. In the refrigerator the staff kept fresh cut watermelon slices and fruit cups, which they were preparing and restocking in the back. The manager also checked in with the guests and made sure they were all satisfied. He also was offering the fresh fruit! Overall this was a lovely Holiday Inn Express. It was probably one of the best Holiday Inn Express stays I've had! The staff and customer service is exceptional and personable. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are larger than regular standard rooms. If you are planning to go to St. Augsutine I 100% recommend booking this hotel. Very few are ever as nice as this one. From the front desk hospitality, very clean rooms, clean building, clean parking lot, great friendly staff, and on and on. July 2022 - 3 night stay I have found the best beach hotel! The Holiday Inn Express in Vilano Beach checks the 5 star boxes on everything. The hotel is one year old, located 1,000 ft from the ocean and about the same distance to the intercostal. There is a nice fitness center and an indoor pool with large doors to open to fresh air. The hotel staff was truly the friendliest and most helpful of any hotel staff I've ever encountered. The rooms are large and well equipped. All rooms have balconies, which we loved sitting on every evening. And the breakfast! Holiday Inn Express always offers a great complimentary buffet but this one is the next level. Fresh fruit cups, plant based milks in addition to whole milk and half & half, nicely prepared foods and a pretty dining room. The nicest man greeted us at breakfast, asked about our stay and where we were from, fetches refills of juice and kept the place spotless. I was astonished to learn his is the owner of the hotel who works the breakfast 365 days a year! He definitely sets the tone for guest satisfaction perfection at this hotel. Vilano Beach is nice and quiet with a handful of restaurants and a new Publix. Only 10 minutes away is historic St Augustine. The beach was never overcrowded like most beaches in July. Loved peaking along the jetty to see some ocean life up close. I enjoyed walking the trail across the bridge as well as walking the streets to admire the local beach homes. My only complaint is the hotel is so popular and it's sold out most of the time. If you get lucky to get a room, you will love it! read more

You will have the best experience ever! This Holiday Inn Express is unlike any others including other hotels in the same price range and amenities. Why? Because of the people. At the front desk, Madison greeted us with a bright smile and unparalleled professionalism. We got settled quickly into our room which was bright and clean. They have blackout shades and strong air conditioning. Couldn't hear anyone through their thick walls. The breakfast exceeded all expectations. All hotels in this range provide a standard warm breakfast with eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes and various hot and cold drinks. However this Holiday Inn had very tasty fluffy crisp biscuits with a rich gravy with sausage. They also served divine hot cinnamon buns. The charismatic owner Farid greeted and chatted up his guests and made everyone feel so special. You can tell he wants you to have the best experience. Will definitely stay here again when visiting St Augustine! read more

During our entire stay we had a major problem that was never resolved. Our shower had no pressure and only trickled water. We checked in on Monday afternoon and discovered the problem when we tried to shower on Tuesday morning. We immediately reported it to the front desk staff who assured us it would be fixed. When we returned to the room late Tuesday, it still didn't work. Again we went to the front desk and they were surprised it was not fixed and promised it would be taken care of the next day. On Wednesday we left for a day of sightseeing and again returned late to the hotel only to find out that the shower still didn't work. Maintenance had finally gotten to the room but needed parts, and couldn't fix the problem. They offered to change our room, but at 10:00 PM we didn't want to pack everything to move only to pack again the next morning. I can't believe they didn't have any knowledge of the situation. They did nothing on Tuesday. On Wednesday when it could not be fixed, they didn't proactively call us and give us the option to move. They waited until we returned, late at night, and discovered the problem on our own. We dealt with the manager and the assistant manager. The assistant manager told us she would speak to the manager about "taking care of us" before we checked out, but nothing was done. When I tried to report the problem to IHG, the parent company, they won't deal with me because I booked through a third party website. T-Mobile travel said sorry you had to bathe in your sink but they couldn't help. In retrospect I know we should have requested a room change immediately but we trusted them to resolve the situation. Stupid us, unprofessional on them. The bed was comfortable, the linens fine, and the staff was pleasant if not helpful. But on the whole they made our stay very unpleasant and I would never recommend this hotel, IHG or booking through T-Mobile. read more

This hotel was honestly one of the best I've stayed at, and that's coming from an avid traveler. It was super clean and housekeeping was there daily. Every employee said hello to us and we were constantly asked if we needed anything. They also have chairs and towels that you can borrow for the beach and a heated indoor pool, perfect for when it's raining. We stayed in this hotel to go to a concert at the St. Augustine amphitheater, which is about 20 mins away. Historic downtown is only a 7 minute drive. There is a Publix grocery store and a few restaurants right across the street. The beach is maybe a few yards away. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are nice and cool. The breakfast was always plentiful and they have tons of options, not just your standard continental. The manager, Farid (hopefully I'm remembering his name correctly) was on top of the breakfast crowd and made sure we were happy. He also gave us some nice recommendations on what to do nearby and even shook our hands as a farewell when we checked out. The hospitality at this place is next level and I hope they continue this way for years to come. I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again! read more

To be fair, we haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn in years and years like 15-18 years. It's VERY clean which was the most important thing for us and why we booked it since we had never been to St Augustine so we had idea where to stay and didn't want to spend $$$ and have it not be nice. There were so many reviews that said it was super clean and the room was. The room was nice, the air conditioning in the room is amazing( not in the hallways), the bed was very clean and comfy, and the bathroom had great lighting. My only complaints were the shower didn't drain well, the hallways were hot, and we wanted early breakfast, but walked by an open sorry where they were preparing it and the lady was cutting fruit without gloves so it turned us off and we went out for breakfast. read more

Mentioned this to staff and they sent someone up to fix it and he worked really hard but it stopped working after he left so we were left with no plumbing in our room for four days. A friend and I stayed there and I have the best time ever. The only thing that sucked with I lost one of my hoop diamond earrings but everybody was accommodating trying to help find it and I'm a local so sad Augustine and I loved that it was right by the beaches. And I remember being a little girl and St Augustine to me seems so small . Now it's like one of the fastest growing cities.... I hope everyone not come and visit Saint Augustine not they go downtown and see the light hall and go down St. George Street or so many different things to see it's the oldest city. The staff was extraordinarily helpful & extremely accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was filled with many great options. I normally don't sleep well in hotel beds however I was very comfortable in this one. Each room comes with a private balcony. The beach (one block away) was beautiful & there was plenty of free parking. A nice, new Publix Supermarket is conveniently located right next to the hotel. We walked to a waterfront restaurant a few blocks away & had a scenic, outdoor dinner. After dinner we took a walk on the pier & got to meet some locals. As you can see from our previous review, we liked it so much and wanted to come back. We visited again recently and would have stayed more nights, but word has gotten around, and it is often sold out. The customer service at this hotel is the best we have ever seen! The owner even makes sure he talks to everyone at breakfast! The manager often interacts with the guests too. This hotel was awesome. Did you know it's the number 1 holiday inn in the state of Florida? You can tell they are doing everything possible to keep it that way. Everything is very clean and the beds were so comfortable. The hotel was recently built so it's still new. Elevators were fast and rooms were comfortable. We dealt mostly with Derek at the front desk. He was very kind and polite. The staff who makes the breakfast was great. This was the best free breakfast at a hotel chain I've ever had. We ate fresh cooked food daily. I love the balcony we had outside our room. The area is only 5-10 minutes from the historic area in St Augustine. So it was great to get away from the noise and bars. Vilano beach is quiet and I felt very safe here. The parking is easy ; right outside the building. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to St Augustine. read more

From somebody who lives 15 hours away, you get worried that the hotel you book might not be to your expectations. this hotel by all means was way more awesome than i thought it would be. great location, can walk a block one way and your on the beach, or walk a block the other way and your at a beautiful peer with a nice restaurant. on top of our stay, the staff was AMAZING. they are so friendly and make you feel like your at home. the owner walks around during breakfast times and takes cares of his customers like he is your server, clears your plates, and creates small talk with you. very very nice guy, 10/10 would recommend anybody to stay here. definitely will return to this place. read more

The HIG St Augustine Vilano beach hotel is amazing. My family and I travel a lot, and often stay in "high-end" hotels. I didn't know what to expect from a Holiday Inn Express but choose it based on the great reviews. Well, it far exceeded my expectations! The Hotel was very nice, clean and good location near beach and grocery store for convenience. The rooms were well-appointed, nice beds, both soft and firm pillows (such a nice touch!) and good quality bathroom items (Dove shampoo, etc). The breakfast was very good and lots of options. But, what set the hotel apart was the amazing staff - from the owner Farid to everyone else. The owner shared that he had been in the service industry since age 11 when he worked at his father's restaurant. Well, this background shows and he was amazing, at the front desk, the kitchen, the table service - doing everything with a smile and care. He even made my oatmeal for me, and offered to put fresh strawberries on top. Amazing! And everyone else at the hotel followed his lead. Thank you for a great stay.
