Happy to have been able to stay at the Holiday Inn Express - Vilano Beach for my birthday getaway. This choice was perfect for me. It's a brand new hotel and when we stayed at the end of September it had been open for only 6 weeks! What I love about it is it's newness and also a five minute straight shot drive to Vilano Beach. I was able to wake up at 7am to get to the 715 sunrise on the beach. That made me super happy. Everyone is super nice. I encountered around 10 employees that worked there who were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are simple and new and my favorite part of it was the balcony. It was quite huge. The breakfast in the morning was loaded up. There was hot breakfast including two diff types of eggs, potatoes, hash brown, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and waffles. They also had fruit and yogurt and breads and muffins and juices and coffee. I would definitely stay there in a heart beat again for the convenience to the beach and the brand new condition. Also this is 10-15 minute drive over the bridge to St. Augustine. It's quite close to the Old Town, Fountain of Youth, and Old Jail side. They asked me what they can improve on. Initially I would say nothing. After the fact, I would say follow up. FYI: Like any hotel, they ask for a card for incidentals. They put a $25 on your card and say it will be off once you check out. For my card, which was a debit/cc it took 5-7 business days. Check in is 3pm, but u may want to call to see if it is ready. 11am is check out. Breakfast is 6am to 10am Monday through Sunday. They also have an indoor pool and free parking. Service dog friendly.

July 2022 - 3 night stay I have found the best beach hotel! The Holiday Inn Express in Vilano Beach checks the 5 star boxes on everything. The hotel is one year old, located 1,000 ft from the ocean and about the same distance to the intercostal. There is a nice fitness center and an indoor pool with large doors to open to fresh air. The hotel staff was truly the friendliest and most helpful of any hotel staff I've ever encountered. The rooms are large and well equipped. All rooms have balconies, which we loved sitting on every evening. And the breakfast! Holiday Inn Express always offers a great complimentary buffet but this one is the next level. Fresh fruit cups, plant based milks in addition to whole milk and half & half, nicely prepared foods and a pretty dining room. The nicest man greeted us at breakfast, asked about our stay and where we were from, fetches refills of juice and kept the place spotless. I was astonished to learn his is the owner of the hotel who works the breakfast 365 days a year! He definitely sets the tone for guest satisfaction perfection at this hotel. Vilano Beach is nice and quiet with a handful of restaurants and a new Publix. Only 10 minutes away is historic St Augustine. The beach was never overcrowded like most beaches in July. Loved peaking along the jetty to see some ocean life up close. I enjoyed walking the trail across the bridge as well as walking the streets to admire the local beach homes. My only complaint is the hotel is so popular and it's sold out most of the time. If you get lucky to get a room, you will love it!

However, the hotel did come 3x to fix, each time checking in periodically, and eventually we got a portable AC unit that worked wonders. The entire staff to the manager was so pleasant and accommodating (no rooms, sold out, or they would have moved us). Now on to the good, upon walking in, there is a bar with pizza (late night too!) and tapas. Wowowowow! Hands down the BEST spicy tuna tacos I've ever had - they were delicious, jam-packed, flavorful, and tasted so fresh. My husband got the Magic Beach Pizza called Sunburnt Surfer, which was cheese, pepperoni, and hot honey, spectacular. There is a roof top restuarunt and bar, which we went up for NY, but it was wayyyyy to cold. Location is close to the beach, walkable to the pier, there is a publix conviently across the street (you can walk) as well as other bars and coffee shops. Breakfast is the morning was good, typical eggs, waffles, fruits, oatmeal, etc., staff is super friendly too!

The lady at the front desk was great; I think her name's Amber. The valets were very pleasant too. I luv this hotel's proximity and easy access to the beach. And luckily the cacophony didn't reach the 4th floor

The Voco was an ideal place to stay. It is a modern boutique hotel and about a 10 minute walk from downtown St. Augustine. Everyone we met on the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I felt ZERO ghostly spirits around and no bad juju, which is hard to find in St. Augustine, honestly. Everything was super clean and crisp-looking. It was quaint and quirky, but I enjoyed that about the hotel. It wasn't your run-of-the-mill hotel. The room came with a big TV, a very cozy bed, and a bigger-than-usual mini fridge, which was AMAZINGGG because we had made a pit stop at Buc-ee's for birthday treats and fun... I am obsessed with IHG's bathroom products. Their shampoo is incredible. And the room was pretty quiet- we didn't hear our neighbors. The bar area looked really tempting. We heard the breakfast there is realllllly good- unfortunately, we didn't have time to hang out at the bar or have breakfast. We did pop into the littleee convenience/shop area for a pint of ice cream which hit the spot after coming home from dinner. There is free covered parking below the hotel (and more parking available outside), which is super convenient. The gym looked nice. I love that they had laundry machines. The ice machine was always fully stocked and working. We had a great stay at Voco and really enjoyed our 3 days there. I highly recommend it and would stay there again.

From the reviews I see it was a la quinta. The lobby was very well done, a spacious bar, nice seating for breakfast. The check in was 10/10 - the hospitality, the dining recommendations, the directions. Honestly we felt like we were staying at a B&B, that's how much care the staff had for getting us settled in. The room, on the other hand, was dated and had an odor but we let the staff know and we were switched out immediately to another. The location was great - we walked into town, over the Bridge and explored all night. We came back over the bridge to dine later on but as long as you have good walking shoes on, you're good to go!

We took a walking tour of St Augustine and learned a lot about this history of this hotel - the hotel has done an incredible job making itself look less Hilton-like and more like St Augustine. From the back of the hotel, you can barely tell that it's a hotel at all. In the valet area, they have relics of civil rights history native to St Augustine. As far as the rooms, room 140 is the place to stay. It's got a door that opens right out to the pool deck. It's a spacious room with large TV and a comfortable bed, and a great view of A1A, the horse and carriage rides across the street and the water. The location is right in the center of everything - St Augustine is a very walkable town, and you can get from the southernmost to the northernmost area with this hotel right in the middle. Plenty of restaurants and retailers in the neighborhood. The restaurant at this hotel was wonderful for breakfast - extremely friendly, efficient and internationally diverse staff made our stay appear joy. The lobby is attractive and the renovations they've done show true attention to detail. I look forward to returning next month after all the lights go up, since this hotel generally has some of the best holiday lighting in all of St Augustine. We -- along with six other families -- were left waiting in the lobby for nearly two hours past check-in, with staff unable or unwilling to provide a realistic estimate of when a room would be ready. Simply stating that the hotel was at full occupancy is not an excuse -- it is a failure of planning and management. This situation reflects inefficient and lazy management. Late checkouts were clearly oversold without regard for incoming guests, and there was no urgency, accountability, or proactive communication. Guests were left in limbo while management avoided taking responsibility for the problem they created. For a Courtyard/Marriott property, this level of operational disorganization and disregard for guests is unacceptable. We will not be returning and would caution others to reconsider staying here if timely check-in matters.

There was no dresser or any way to put your clothing away except the 4 hangers. We called guest services and they said they would bring a dresser up. What they brought was a nightstand that looked like it was bought off Temu. After going back down to the front desk we were told that there are no rooms with any dressers and we could not get any additional hangers.
