It's location wasn't the best - in the middle of the industrial area and it was kind of scary to drive there at night time, but overall it was not bad. The staff was friendly and explained everything (WiFi, breakfast, even the trick of using the shower faucet) at check in. The room was clean and neat, but this hotel definitely needed some upgrades. The overall appearance of the bathroom was a bit old. It has everything needed to stay for a night - not fancy, but practical. Breakfast is buffet style and it has a few hot items, very limited choices though.

Hair from the tub and where I wiped a wet floor.

Check in easy, staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean at first sight, but rugs had debris, bathroom floor was grimy and left dark foot prints with wet feet. Worst was when I turned on the tub and hair came off the drain, tub was not clean! I was given cleaner per my request so I could be sure it was done correctly. Never received a call from management. Will not stay in a Holiday Inn express again.

    Breakfast is pretty good

The hotel was nestled back on a "lonely road" that seems like an industrial area, however, it's a couple minutes from the thruway.

After years of passing by this place, and wondering what was going on inside, we finally ventured…read morein and found out. Assisted ably by Andrea who was tending the bar and also waitressing, she explained everything about the restaurant and the specials for the week. The dining room was slow, and Andrea made sure we had everything we needed. We started with a Shock Top, an order of onion, rings, and I ordered the fresh perch dinner and my husband, the Ruben sandwich. They have a magician in the kitchen who perfectly cooks the food as everything was fabulous! The tartar sauce is house made, as is the cole slaw. Seafood is on the menu year round thus the "cans and clams" night. There is live music on weekends, so we must return! Lemon meringue pie topped off our night. Such a great yet unassuming place for dinner.

We had called ahead and had a reservation for 5:30, we were seated as soon as we got there in the dining room. The room is full of memorabilia of the past, some taxidermy animals, and honestly just fun stuff, if you get bored with conversation in your party, just take a gander around. We went on seafood night and every thing tasted so fresh and delicious, the soup came out hot. Salads and seafood were very fresh. Our waitress was attentive if we needed anything else. I would definitely go back.

This appears to be an older establishment. Easy to find and get to. Close to the fairgrounds and…read moredowntown. The check-in was quick, staff was pleasant. The hallway to my room had very stale air, sort of musty. Several areas smelled of marijuana. I didn't see anyone and the place seemed fairly quiet. I got to the room and the door was very hard to open and close. The room is fairly larger with standard hotel decor. Everything appears to be fairly clean. The bed is really comfy. The AC seems to operate when it wants to. It's not cooling properly which would be a problem if it was hot out. No microwave in the room but there is larger size mini fridge which is a plus. There's a few blemishes here and there in the room. The side entrance door has no security lock on it, that's a negative. There is a key card device there but the door doesn't lock. Over all it's not a bad place but it's not a great place. Good for a night, maybe two. It wouldn't be my first choice to come back to. *Edit* I had to come back and update this review, and to drop it down to two stars. After about 10pm Saturday night, someone was smoking somewhere and the room was filling with cigarette stench. I tried calling the front desk but there was no answer. I quit smoking years ago and this stench is horrible to me now. My throat is still irritated from this.

Bagels no cream cheese. Few options. After lousy breakfast we found we were locked out of our room. It was 10 am but the desk explained that it was because it was our checkout day. Good thing our room was not at the other end of the property or we would have had to take a hike and miss our appointment. Would not stay here again.

This hotel has had some major renovation work done recently in some areas. For example, the lobby…read moreand breakfast area are new and very nicely done. The area where the ice machine, vending and an atm are located and the ground floor corridor are not. The corridor on our floor was updated. The elevator scared the beejesus out of me! Every time it started it 'dropped' before moving in a controlled way. Every. Time. New fear unlocked. Check. We were checked in quickly and easily, were directed to the elevator and told breakfast hours. We unloaded the vehicle and washed up a bit before heading to dinner at which point we found the sink would not drain. On our way out we asked if a plunger was available to us. I am aware most hotels only have one staff member on duty in the evenings and did not expect 'maintenance' to fix the clog. Reception had a plunger for us when we returned from dinner. (We did get the clog cleared but that was pretty gross.) The room has been newly painted with a new vanity, sink and mirror. The wall behind the mirror is tiled where the old, larger one was and a space next to the vanity, where a bigger counter top was, has been boxed in and I used as a shelf for personal care items. Bar soap on vanity and in shower, and single use personal care items on counter top. No hooks for toiletry bags. The bathroom was clean, has been updated with a new tub and surround, plenty of hot water, good pressure, no drain issue in the tub. The walls have been newly papered and a new towel shelf is over a newer toilet. Two of each towel type and a floor mat. Our room was small, with a King bed, a chair (which I do appreciate in a hotel room) that was older, worn and smelled of stale wine, a floor lamp behind the chair, closet, desk, TV, mini-fridge and coffee service. There is no designated luggage rack area or a portable one in the closet, where you will find an iron and board. Two bedside tables have lamps a plug and a USB. Wi-fi was free. The bed was comfortable with a variety of pillows, soft sheets and nice weight duvet. The heater looks like a replacement unit and kept the room cool during our summer visit. Breakfast included juice, cold cereal, instant oatmeal, waffles, two hot items (I didn't open the chafing dishes to look) fruit, yogurt, milk for cereal, bagels and bread. A microwave and add-ins like S&P and jelly are on an island in the middle of the breakfast buffet area. Staff did their jobs minimally. Not friendly, not rude, just unmotivated, uninterested. It was small things like our interactions and attention to details in the room and at breakfast. Breakfast staff seem to be reception staff so they are trying to juggle keeping the coffee pot full during a busy front desk/check-out time. I can understand their frustration. It seems like corners are being trimmed to pay for much needed updates to the property. Not sure if it has to do with the location, some event happening in the area or something else but this was the most expensive room on our trip and the smallest. Add in the lackluster customer service and attention to details and our stay did not feel like a good value.

A few burnt out lightbulbs, we told the front desk and they noted it and seemed to plan to get right on it. Nice breakfast selections. "Clean and comfortable" might not seem like a strong reference but compared to other places that cost as much and were much lower quality ......
