The hotel rooms are very outdated and the bathroom sink overflow hole and in the room was full of disgusting black sludge/gunk and smelled horrible. I notified the front desk of the issue and the housekeeper poured bleach down the hole and advised that should temporarily fix the smell issue and if it still was a problem to call again so maintenance could do a better fix. When I went back to check, the housekeeper only poured bleach down the hole. A deep clean with scrubbing was required, not just pouring bleach so I called the front desk again and advised the housekeeper's method was not satisfactory and I was advised housekeeper mgmt. would stop by to take care of the issue. The housekeeping manager arrived and I advised the housekeeper had only poured bleach down the sink overflow hole and it required scrubbing. The Housekeeping manager took a video and did take care of the issue with a scrubbing brush and some cleaning solution as best as possible, most of the black sludge was cleaned off. However, why did the housekeepers on 2 occasions find this condition of the sink to be acceptable for a guest is a big issue. The housekeeper that cleaned the room before a guest checked in didn't find it necessary to thoroughly clean the black sludge from the sink and neither did the housekeeper that was alerted when I informed the front desk of the issue. The quick fix used for this issue gives me feeling thorough cleanliness is not applied in many cases here. Additionally, the bathroom ceiling were dirty and I just don't see why this hotel is listed as 3 star or received a 4.4/5 for cleanliness. I haven't stay at Holiday Inn in over 10 years and won't plan on staying at another anytime soon.

TERRIBLE. housekeeping staff completely destroyed my necklace while friends and I were out for the day. My necklace was sitting in one piece on nightstand, we returned to it broken in five pieces as if housekeeping accidentally knocked it over and then vacuumed it up. The only explanation we got from management was a denial of fault. SMH. Talk about poor customer service. If you're going to stay here, DO NOT leave valuables in your room. Staff can not be trusted.

Came to Greensboro to deliver my freshman son to NC A&T for the fall semester and we needed a place to stay. Hotel was very clean in the lobby and some A&T students were working the front desk. Checkin was painless and quick. The room was spectacular with two queen sized beds. Plenty of electrical jacks for recharging my electrical gear. Nice TV although I didn't watch. Bathroom was spacious with a shower where the water dropped down from the ceiling. PLENTY of hot water that was hot enough to make a cup of coffee. Plenty of towels along with extra soap, lotion and shampoo. The only disappointment was breakfast. I thought there would be a free continental breakfast but instead we had to pay for breakfast which was not a good value. The buffet was $11.95 which was better than ordering aka carte. The selection was not that great for a buffet. That is why a four star instead of five. Otherwise the room was great and the beds were great. Got a good nights sleep. Oh AC was spot on as well for August.

A little disappointed about this hotel. Nice hotel, but they are missing some fine touches, like bottle water in the room. Resistant food was just OK, but the service was EXCELLENTE

Good evening, fellow Yelpers! It's your favorite critic again with another tantalizing insight to…read moreyet another business. Drury Inn & Suites, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, is incredible, to say the least! "Travel work" is what has brought me to this area ( just in case you're wondering, lol). Using my #1 go-to *Yelp*, I searched for lodging accommodations for 2 nights. After reading reviews of different establishments for about 20-25 mins, my mind was set on Drury Inn & Suites. I have lodged with Drury before (for the most part, I knew what I was getting into, lol), but this was different. Check-in didn't take 10 mins. The receptionist was friendly & super informative (always a plus), with what was offered "free" in addition to my stay. Happy hour specials (2 complimentary drinks), hot breakfast, afternoon snacks/meal (called *kickback*) 5:30pm-7:00pm, was the icing on the cake. Super affordable, luxurious & spacious rooms, adequate parking, superb customer service, & indoor pool, what more could you want? It's a travelers dream! So, if you're ever in the area or in need of a getaway, this could satisfy your craving. With restaurants and shopping within walking or a short drive, paradise - minus being rich, lol. Come see for yourself, & I sincerely hope your experience was as memorable & noteworthy as mine

The hotel was under renovations which wasn't the issue. First, the staff were great, very pleasant. The hotel had a very old feel to it, definitely needs some updating. Our bathroom vent was full of dust, brown rust on the outside of the tub, the mini fridge wasn't cold, and poor lighting in the room overall. The dinner experience wasn't great at all and again going off of what we were told last year, that was just really disappointing. The set up for plates and the extras were in weird spots didn't have a nice flow and the dining area was very hot. I had high expectations from a Drury rewards member and this is not the stay they told me we should have had. I booked two rooms for 6 days so a lot of money was spent for a poor stay. Overall was very disappointed and would not recommend the Greensboro Drury.

Some tips if you are considering a stay: The hotel is located within a few blocks of railroad tracks, which will become very apparent to you once you settle into your room. Tellingly, complementary ear plugs are provided bedside. Know that the odd-numbered rooms are quieter. The parking structure entrance is on Federal Place between West McGee Street and Exchange Place; it's hard to miss because of the signage that reads "Hampton Inn & Suites Entrance." The entrance to the hotel on the first floor of the parking structure is considered the main entrance and is usually unlocked during the day. The side, first-floor entrance on West McGee Street is often locked; you'll need your room key for access. If you park on the second or third levels of the garage, you'll be able to access rooms on those floors directly. Parking is $12 per day. A parking tag is required. Most guests seem to opt for the garage. Street parking immediately adjacent to the hotel is available for free without time restrictions. Weekends are the most competitive parking time. Look for the spots without signage detailing parking limitations. Hampton Inn & Suites Greensboro Downtown gets the job done. The decent gym, easy self-park options, on-site guest laundry room and central location make this a solid choice should you be passing through Gate City.

Due to a flight delay, I missed my connecting flight and was rebooked for the following morning, causing me to miss my first night at the hotel. When I called, I learned I had already been charged for the first night and that my entire reservation had been canceled. I requested to be rebooked using the group rate, but the hotel denied my request, so I stayed elsewhere instead. Later, a front desk employee agreed to refund the first night since the missed stay was due to circumstances beyond my control and canceling the entire reservation made little sense. However, the refund was never processed. When I followed up, the hotel refused to honor it because I could not provide the employee's name. I would have understood being charged for the first night if I had been allowed to keep my reservation, but charging me and canceling the entire stay was unacceptable. Unfortunately, based on this experience and the poor customer service I received, I cannot recommend this hotel.

It is clean, smells good, and the rooms are spacious. They offer a decent complementary hot and continental breakfast as well as areas to do business, etc. All hotel staff was very professional and friendly. There was one issue that I had with this hotel. On Friday, October 28th, the fire alarm went off throughout the hotel. It lasted for probably around 30 minutes or so. There was no communication or any staff members on the floors instructing guests on what to do. We were all very confused and didn't know if this was a test alarm or if we needed to evacuate the building. There were never any instructions for us to evacuate our rooms. I decided to leave the room and go out of the building because the alarm kept going off and no one was saying anything. As I took the stairs from the fourth floor down to the first floor, there was a strong smell of what seemed like rubber burning. It was only when I got to the first floor that I went and asked one of the staff what was going on and she said that someone put something in the microwave that wasn't supposed to be in the microwave and triggered the fire alarm. At that time, two firemen entered the building to go and evaluate the situation. This was handled poorly. Guests should have received communication on the expectations regarding that fire alarm. Had this been a different situation with a real fire, this lack of communication could've had a detrimental effect on the guests. Other than that situation with the fire alarm, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is a really good hotel. I rated it as a three solely because of the issue with the fire alarm.

Would I return? Sure. Is it located in a prime area within Greensboro? Let's start with the good: The hotel team are friendly and thoughtful. The Manager, Brian, even allocated a dining room to me to take a long meeting, which was just awesome. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is charming. They are clearly leaning in on the old school vibe, and we were digging it. Considerations: The old elevator is super cool and vintage, but we took it only when required with luggage. Neat experience but made me nervous every time I used it. YMMV on this one! The hotel could use some upgrades and modernization which would mix old with new: Many switches with no connected lights, upgrade of in room phones and rework of electrical outlet options. The back steps are a bit steep, but it was not at all a problem for me and my husband on the 2nd floor. Finally, the location is terrific. Greensboro is not large, and staying downtown gives you access to all the areas. Biltmore is in an awesome spot. Try Natty Greeen's and Cheesecakes by Alex! They're literally around the corner. In summary: The hotel could use some freshening but it is super clean. The staff and vibe is very cool, and location is pretty great overall (down the block from Natty Greene's!).

My room contained a lovely four poster bed, wall full of windows and antique furnishings, as well as more modern amenities like a flat screen TV and coffee maker. The best part, though, is the fact that the location of this hotel is right where you want to be, steps away from all the food, coffee and bars on S Elm and a two block walk to Amtrak. There's a wine hour (and the gal at the front desk even offered to bring some out after I missed it) as well as breakfast (also missed that). I can't imagine staying elsewhere when in Greensboro.
