We took the train from New Orleans to Mobile and wanted to stay one night. The Hotel is an easy walk from the train station. We got in a little late and the bar on the top floor was open. Great views! The room was large and comfortable. It's a little bit dated but for the price and location it's fine. It's also very close to Dolphin Street which seems to be a hub for eating, shopping and drinking. We will stay again the next time we take the train to Mobile. read more

Customer service is something that's become a lost art this 21st Century. I found this gem earlier this year on one of my trips visiting our daughter, a new student at SHC. I CAN NOT give enough praise to the staff - from top to bottom beginning with Mr. Varner, GM; Stacey, Nicole, Heidi, Adriana and Peyton. The facility is going under renovations; yet, it's still an amazing place to stay. Rooms are spacious, relatively new decor, exceptionally clean, fresh. It's easy to access off I-10. Look for the round tall cylinder 16 floor structure. This hotel is a heartbeat away from literally any dining experience you could look for downtown. Want fast food and don't want to drive, walk :05 minutes north. Every museum to include the quaint Mardi Gras one, pictured, is within (it's positioned directly across the street) a mere stroll. Granted August is hot and humid here; but, that's the deep South. It's within :5-:20 from USS Alabama to the University of Mobile, USA, SHC, Top Golf, fine dining/shopping, Sam's, Costco...you get it. Whatever you do, DO NOT miss the opportunity to enjoy this city at this hotel that's aimed at making this experience one you wish to come back for more, time and time again. read more

I booked a room last minute via the Expedia app and was pleasantly surprised when I entered the large lobby. Chandeliers adorned the ceilings above tastefully placed sitting areas where, upon entering, I was greeted by two very nice desk attendants. I passed a full service restaurant on the way to the elevators- I did not know Holiday Inns had these! Entering the elevator, my pleasure quickly evaporated when the doors opened upon a garish yellow hallway and bleak room doors that I definitely did not want to open. I found my room and was, much to my relief, again very pleased with the size of the room, the clean amenities, a beautiful view of the pool on a rooftop overlooking downtown Mobile, and the super comfortable bed. The bathroom could use some updating, but I think the entire hotel may be a work in progress. I did not get a chance to visit the rooftop bar, but will try when I am in Mobile again. Do I recommend? (COVID PROTOCOL) A/C was at fixed temp, could only adjust the fan. Skyview bar was ok. (see separate review) The restaurant service was really poor. Don't order the whitefish. It's frozen tilapia that's not good for anyone. And overpriced. read more

The hotel is great, but the restaurant is very sad. Tonight me and my husband came down to eat dinner at 7:30 pm and the waitress gave us our drinks. We waited for 45 minutes watching everyone that came into the restaurant after us eat and leave. We never got our food we left the restaurant because we got tired of looking at other people eating. What went well? The room was nice but the restaurant sucks! I am sitting in my room hungry. They need more than one dinning help in the restaurant. Very bad restaurant experience. read more

This hotel is in need of a serious update, especially on some of the amenities. The lobby is nice, clean, and updated. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and responsive; Heidi was especially wonderful. The parking is very limited and I snagged what seemed to be the absolute last spot available at 8pm on a Tuesday night. The rooms are just ok and also in need of a renovation. The sink in my room would not drain and I had no hot water. When I called the front desk to report this at 10:30pm, maintenance had left for the day and I had to move rooms. Again, the staff was absolutely lovely and apologetic, brought the key to me, and checked out the room before I moved. However, maintenance at this spot is a mess. The fitness center also needs a complete revamp. Both treadmills did not work, the ellipticals were outdated and did not alter elevation. The only thing that worked was the bike and the free weights. I do like that every room has a fridge and microwave, though someone had left an old glass of orange juice in my fridge that looked as if it had been there for some time. Rooms have extra plugs and USB ports on the bedside table, which is always a nice amenity. Bath amenities are Bath & Body Works, but they are coconut scented which is a very divisive scent. It is a great location in downtown Mobile but with other choices around, I won't be staying here again unless I have absolutely have to. read more

The lobby is very nice, only been here for one day still have 8 days to go. But so far not all that happy, no hot tub which is on my part for not checking. I paid for our room almost 2 months ago and when we checked in yesterday they charged me for our room again with a $50 charge for each day as a holding fee which equals to $450, so they token over $3,000 from my great grandmas account and still have not fixed it. Just saying they have to review it. The breakfast is only 6am to 9am which is horrible, my great grandma is 93 years old and she doesn't get up till at least 830 and takes her awhile to get up. You have to click for breakfast when you register and your paying for it so it's not free like the website says and it's not like a buffay, you can't just grab and go you have to be seated by someone. If you paid for it on your reservation you have to go to the counter and get a coupon for each day your staying but the coupon is only for 2 people. There is 5 of us staying and we only get to feed 2 people out of us. Update: they were able to refund us and only charge us for the one night that we stay. read more

The place is not clean. They don't have enough help to get room cleaned daily and when they do clean we didn't get clean towels, glasses replaced, or coffee replaced. Upon calling the desk for service....they cannot bring items up ....so I need to go down and get them. This is poor service. My recent stay at the Holiday Inn of downtown Mobile was truly one-of-a-kind. Allow me to explain. First, the hotel leaves you with lovely gifts in your room. For instance, my boyfriend was delighted to find a half-eaten, frosted double-stuffed Oreo under the bed when he went to pick up his shoes. A mid-morning snack! And double-stuffed to boot! Additionally, there was a fine white coating on the red armchair next to the television. Some might call it dust, but I prefer to think of it as fairy powder. Second, the hotel very kindly makes sure that you are up and ready to face the day bright and early. To elaborate, you will get a knock at your door at 8:30 a.m. (even on a Sunday morning!) from housekeeping. Moreover, when you take a shower, they make sure you only get a few minutes of hot water because after all, there's nothing like a cold shower to perk you up. In all seriousness, Holiday Inn has a few good qualities. The hotel lobby is aesthetically pleasing and immaculate, and the Sky Lounge on the top floor has a lovely view of downtown Mobile. The location is great; the hotel is an easy walk to an array of bars and restaurants. Yet as I have noted above, Holiday Inn clearly has a few kinks they need to work out in order for me to stay there again. read more

Great welcome! Staff is amazing. Treated me with the upmost respect and with a wonderful smile. Upgraded to the 17th floor. Rooms are very large with incredible view of the city. VIP lounge is very nice and cozy. The club upstairs had live music playing. Nice for the night cap after finishing up after work. Beds are extremely comfortable and soft. Breakfast was superb. Only complaint would be that the wifi is hit or miss and could use an upgrade. Other than that....enjoy your stay. read more

Hotel is ok when you are staying on the upper floor levels (I got a room located on the smoker level due to a booking failure of my agency, which is really really bad for non smokers - not possible to open the windows). This place has a ton of potential. It is only two blocks off Dauphin St and some excellent dining options and the pool is on the 3rd floor and very relaxing. However, the bathroom had a pile of curly black hairs by the toilet. My wife paid extra for free breakfast but that required we get vouchers from the front desk that weren't provided on check in. On day 2 we waited more than 15 minutes for an elevator before finally taking my 6 and 4 year old down quite a few flights of stairs. This truly is a nice establishment but i believe there are some management issues that need to be addressed. read more

Spent the night here a few weeks ago, half way home from a long exhausting road trip. Wow what a beautiful lobby, we got off of the elevator to go to our room and we were shocked. The carpets and wall colors in the hallways were dirty, outdated and reminded us of the 1970s. Hotel doors were all scratched up and in poor condition. Once entering our room, I started my inspection. Just to let you know... I was in the cleaning industry for over twenty years so, I know what is clean and this place was absolutely not clean!!! Blood on the wall in the bathroom, shit stain on the comforter, pubic hairs intertwined into several spots on a towel, I itched all night, so probably bed bugs, faucets didn't match up... cold was hot and hot was cold, paper thin walls where you could hear everything. What a horrible nights sleep. I couldn't wait to wake up early and check the heck out of there! I was so disgusted that eating breakfast there was totally not an option for my family and I . So about that beautiful lobby, in the morning light, I noticed that all of the rugs had huge stains on them. At almost $200 a night, this hotel is a total rip off. I definitely will not be back. I've never seen a Holiday Inn in this bad of a condition. read more

I really enjoyed my stay here at the Holiday Inn. The lobby is very nice and large in size. The staff is extremely friendly and made great recommendations for local eateries. The rooms are quite large and have small fridges, microwave, cable TV, and plenty of room to move around. The 17th floor is a lounge. The bartender was very friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced and tasty. If you are staying there on July 4th they offer a $5 entry fee which includes all you can eat appetizers. They have both tables, couches, stools and a dance floor when the DJ is there. Overall I was very satisfied with my two night stay. read more

I have never in the past considered Holiday Inn anything more than a budget hotel. But I have to say after my experience at the Downtown Mobile Al property my thoughts about this changed. During my Mardi Gras stay we found this property to be excellent. The hotel common area and rooms were on par with any good Sheraton and better than most. The staff was abosutely exceptional. Susie, Michelle, and Tobi at the front desk treated us like royalty. Even Dorothy who serviced the lobby and health club areas was absolutely charming. The new staff member and her manager at the first floor restaurant were very friendly and quite accommodating. Our room cleaning crew was meticulous and detail oriented. I do not think staff could possibly be so great without excellent management. IMHO Add a Jacuzzi or Sauna and this hotel would be perfect. But even with this deficiency, this hotel stll deserves 5 stars thanks to the staff. Thanks Holiday Inn for making our stay so wonderful! read more

I would not stay here or recommend anyone stay here. I accidentally booked a reservation to stay here for the wrong date. I called the day the reservation was made to change to the correct date and was told I needed to speak with someone in accounting. I left a voicemail with accounting the same day. I recieved no phone call back. I tried again the very next day and was told I needed to speak to a manager at who wouldnbe in at 3:00. No one was abailable. Fast farward 4 DAYS later and I have yet to recieve a call back. Still my credit card was charged for a stay as a no call no show. I spoke with someone today and was told I would be transferred to the GM. Again, recieved a voicemail. I called back to let the woman at the front desk know that I was sent to voicemail. She told me I would have to wait. I asked would it be a better option for me to come in. Her response was no because she couldn't guarantee that there would be a manager there and if I came in " I would get the same response over phone." This is HORRIBLE customer service. I travel weekly for work. I normally always gravitate to a Holiday Inn Express. Definitely will NOT do this one again. If there was a negative star option I would certainly leave 5. read more

Our group had our Christmas Party at the Skyview Lounge and it was an amazing experience. The food was incredible, the staff was all top-notch, and you cannot get a better view of the city. Great downtown location near restaurants & nightlife places, Secure Parking in either the hotel lot or the parking deck across the street. My room was large well appointed: Comfy Bed, flat screen TV (a bit small), fridge & micro, coffee maker and was super clean. The SkyBar on the 17th floor has great views & good prices..(note, sometimes they close early if business lulls) It would have been nice to have a complimentary breakfast. All in all, a good buy and a nice stay. read more

Somebody said that this place is close to the nightlife places. I guess that is true...but that also makes it sound like there is a lot of nightlife here. There is not. When we walked from the hotel to the bar area, we literally didn't pass a single person. Actually, I take that back. We did pass one homeless guy with a really good story. Great hotel, in my opinion. Found myself in Mobile early in the morning due to the incoming hurricane. Rather than risk them closing the highway and me not being able to get in, I drove straight through instead of spending the night in Birmingham. Got into town at 4 am, needless to say in need of a nap. I had reserved another hotel for that evening so I figured I'd head over there and get a car nap. One look at this place and I had to find somewhere else. Couple of places were full, this Holiday Inn not only had a room but the extremely nice gentleman at the desk let me check in right away. A real lifesaver. Clean room, very accommodating staff, great view from the lounge on the top floor/ Attractive neighborhood as well. Not one complaint here. Downtown with nice view based on which room you get as the hotel is in the shape of a circle. On the fifth floor, big king bed, mini fridge, flat screen TV. OK the one cheap thing they do is limit the dollar amount to $10 each for breakfast after you pay extra to include it with your room. I paid $11.40 per day for 2 people so you're saving $8. At their prices, you can't get a full breakfast and have juice or coffee without spending money. Too bad as we just stayed at another Holiday Inn which didn't limit the amount. Most people were good about it and not loading up, so this place is just cheap. The kitchen is slow here, only 5 couples and we're still waiting for breakfast to come. The food comes out and time for the next surprise. We ordered the same breakfast at the other Holiday Inn once again this place is cheap. I get 2 pieces of bacon not 4 and only 1 slice of toast. Really, who only gives one slice of toast. Save the money and go eat at one of the good breakfast places 2 blocks over. We didn't know before we booked or we would have spent the extra and taken the walk. It's just wrong place to be cheap. I ate everything on the plate and was still wanting a little more. At the other Holiday Inn, you couldn't finish everything, 4 bacon, 2 toast, huge pile of potatoes and your eggs. To their credit they have really good high speed Wi-Fi thru out the place. Instant Hot water is really nice. Great water pressure, no restrictor. Same little hair dry that takes forever. Not sure I would stay here again or recommend the place as the cheap breakfast thing just rubs me the wrong way. To bad as the place is clean, updated and close to a lot of things. read more

This will be my go to place from now on! Everything about our experience from booking to checking out was SUPERB! The staff was wonderful, friendly , and quick. We needed more towels and an iron and they were there for us no matter when we called downstairs. The room was clean, cute, and with a great view. We stayed on the 15th floor in a double queen room. There was a microwave and mini fridge, Keurig for coffee, nice tv, and the beds were so comfy. We slept so good. We stayed here for a show downtown and when we got back to the hotel after 2Am we were hungry and there's a snack room you can shop from by the front desk. The whole place was clean, cute, and well worth the price ($165 weekend night after all the fees). We will return! read more

The hotel gets 3 stars, but the location is what makes this place money. 5 starts based on the location. It's 1 block from Dauphin St., which is a long street of amazing restaurants and bars (check out my reviews for Hayley's and the Bicycle Shop!) The room is pretty plain and boring. It's not as nice as you'd think for the price you pay, but like I said, the price reflects the location. Breakfast is not included and is an outrageous $10 per person for continental. You can also order off a menu, but I recommend going elsewhere for breakfast. It's not worth an arm and a leg for frozen potatoes and disgusting bacon. The parking situation is pretty pathetic. They have a private lot, but no more than 20 cars can fit in it. You'll have to park in the garage across the street, but you can get a pass at the front desk to keep from paying. Bottom line, come here if you're just looking for a place to pass out after a great night out in downtown Mobile. Very cool city with some of the best restaurants and bars I've come across on my business travels. read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights during Mardi Gras. Perfect location as the parade route is right in front of the hotel! Nice rooms without flaws. Plenty of room and a very comfortable bed. Check in was quick and easy, the front desk was friendly. Lots of parking and located downtown by a lot restaurants, and bars. The room was large and comfortable. We were on the 4th floor, and had an ok view. But after 5pm we went to the skyview lounge on the 17th floor and saw most of the city. The Skyview lounge was beautiful, and the drinks were reasonable. The soaps and shampoos are scented but the conditioner was not enough to soften my hair after a day spent a the beach. Bring your own conditioner. Check our was fast and friendly. Stayed here in February 2017 for Mardi Gras. I get that Mardi Gras customers can get out of hand but I'm 52 and look it. We were greeted and treated as if we were college students on spring break during registration. Going as far as to read and sign a 3-page waiver before we were allowed to check-in. Reached out to IHG, they promised to have someone contact me almost 3 months later this still hasn't happened. Rooms were over $250.00 per night yet we were treated as if we were staying in a dive hotel. read more

Stayed here for 2 weeks and really did not have much to complain about. The hotel elevators are extremely fast, which was nice because I was on the 15th floor. Most holiday inns I stay at have free breakfast, but this one did not. However, I liked that I had to pay for breakfast because everything was super fresh, real eggs made just for you instead of those nasty powdered eggs . I did not like the fact that the room was so oddly shaped, lots of wasted space. Good location downtown, was able to walk to most restaurants and bars. The bar inside the hotel was surprisingly delightful, very updated and great drinks. Would definitely stay here again! read more

horrible horrible room service! some days are good (I guess depending on who's cleaning) but most are bad. day in and day out we are having to get our own towels from lobby, or either they leave towels only and don't take out trash or make beds or vice versa. we have been here now for 10 days (for work) and not ONCE have the floors been vaccumed or the sink and tub been wiped down.
