The staff is very friendly, but the room was old, outdated, and dirty. The carpets in the room, corridor and hallways were filthy and stained. Even the bench in the room was heavily stained. I'm not sure if the new thing is to put the sheets inside out on beds or if the sheets are simply flipped over to save money from washing but I've noticed this in two other hotels. There was a spider on the toilet and the bathroom shower didn't appear clean. Although there is a card on the table saying if you're unhappy with the cleaning to contact them, cleaning the glass on the windows should be the first thing that is addressed as you notice the window and light when you enter the room. Ryan and Layla at the front desk were amazing. Great greeting and customer interaction. We did have an issue with the A/C , however it was fixed with in minutes. I would suggest that IHG use this location for customer service training. Layla (sorry if misspelled) is top notch. I would hire her any day. If you are in the area STOP HERE. read more

Five stars for exactly what we needed. Clean, spacious. Up to date furnishings. They've solved the walk in shower problem with longer shower curtains finally. Black out curtains and quiet hallways had us oversleep until 8am! Basically free cooked to order breakfast at the attached restaurant. TOWELS....the towels were big enough to get a comment from him. We were very happy with this stay, met another long distance traveler at breakfast, enjoyed the talk, and then we were on the road again. read more

We took a chance and booked the Holiday Inn in Poplar Bluff... Wow!!! They should advertise their Great Amenities... the Restaurant- inside the Hotel has great food, great service and very hospitable!!! the staff at the hotel very accommodating and the rooms were comfortable and extremely clean... Typical Holiday Inn. We stayed on 4th floor which desperately needs recarpeting. There is a heavy musty, smoky odor, perhaps from when the hotel allowed smokers. Room was fine. A/C worked well. WiFi was good. Front desk staff were great. Derek insured that I had breakfast vouchers for two persons, though desk attendant on duty when I checked in was only going to provide me with voucher for one. That's odd! read more

The bed was comfortable. They give you breakfast. Reasonable price. They say they don't have wi-fi, but if you're close enough to the lobby, you can still use it. Very comfortable rooms that are up to date and clean. The beds are comfortable and the pillows plentiful. I was skeptical of the treadmill because it looks shotty, but it worked well. It didn't skip a beat while I was running and most treadmills do. The breakfast was decent and the staff very friendly. I definitely enjoy staying here when I'm in Poplar. read more

Spent one night traveling through Poplar Bluff. Chose this hotel because of microwave in room.very clean room which is a deal breaker for me. Friendly staff at desk and onsite restaurant where you get free breakfast if rewards member. Used fitness room which was well equipped and also clean. Great experience here and highly recommend. The H.I. is pretty clean and the service is really great. The bar, Castello's, isnt open too late but all in all, I think its the best value for your dollar. FYI-it's a full Holiday Inn, not a Holiday Inn Express. read more

Poplar Bluff's finest (and most expensive) hotel. Indoor pool, (mediocre)restaurant on site, very comfortable beds. Internet is iffy. It boasts to have wifi. However, only some rooms of some floors have wifi, the rest of you have to get the cable to hook it up to your laptop. I usually stay here and I would rate it higher except that the price is so high. I find it cheaper to stay in Chicago than here. Independently owned ICH so they'll charge what they want. No priceline negotions in this town... you gonna pay full price or use AAA or military discount if you got it. (I was able to get the price lowered to $75) Breakfast used to be good, but went down hill. If it hasnt improved, my surrgestion is to go Huddle House across street. Its a greasy spoon place along the lines of waffle house. If you have time, I highly suggest Myrtles on broadway. Very good prices for food like your grandma makes. I would highly recommend that you stay away from this place for any type of banquet. We had my daughter's reception there and it was a complete disaster. We called on several occasions to ask about decorating and what was allowed. We were told that they would allow us to hang things from the ceiling. Yet when we got there to set up they told us that would be an additional charge. We would have to pay someone for each time they had to move the ladder. We were told that we could decorate early and yet when we got there we were told that was an additional $200.00. My suggestion is to not just ask the question, but be sure to ask what the cost is for each thing specifically. From the beginning we were told that we woud have coordinator for the entire day of the event. On that day we were told that the person that was supposed to help us could not come in until 4:00. When we told them that was a problem because the wedding started at 4:00 it didn't seem to matter to anyone. When we got there after the ceremony I was approached by a very young man. He asked me if I would have a few minutes to sit and discuss exactly what was going to be taking place the next day. I got very upset with him and told him that it was not the time or place to talk about anything other than the reception. Because we were never able to go over anything ahead of time we could not get the microphone to work. I searched for the young man for several minutes and could never find him. We had to do all the toasts and emceeing without a mic. It was just crazy. I am not sure why they charge such a high amount for such lousy service. They were so quick to add additional fees for everything, but I wonder what they would do about us deducting fees for such poor service. read more
