They are dog friendly and the rooms are nice. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Due to lousy weather we ate at the restaurant. The decor is plain and the wine list Midwest, but OK. We split a ceaser salad, which was fine with crunchy croutons, the fish (cod) and chips were excellent and my cheeseburger was fine. Our cheerful bartender/server quickly got the cheeseburger "fixed" when the kitchen forgot the cheese. All fine. One nit pick....the room had a Keurig, fine, but only one caffeinated k cop. Heather at front desk was great and very friendly. Room was nice size king bed was good. The AC was window unit with only a little noise. Nice LG TV with Direct TV. Mini refrigerator and coffee in the room. Lots of parking. Busy place full or almost full. Con: Shower has very low water pressure and the hot water is lukewarm at best. Someone needs to go to 401 pull the cover and adjust the hot water setting. It's set to low, the sink is hotter. The lighting over the sink couldn't be much lower. Two small dim bulbs on each size. Ladies putting on makeup would be challenging. Although I paid extra for breakfast here you have to order off the menu. They clip the value at $20 which wouldn't be bad if they didn't charge such high prices. We had a $30 bill with two limited meals. If my wife hadn't already got coffee from the free machine in the lobby I'm sure that would have added another $2 or $3 dollars to the bill. So you pay just $12 dollars on the IHG site then plus extra $10 put your cost at about $23 for breakfast that was OK but not great. I will NEVER stay here again! It was quite the shock to see this enormous roach as soon as I woke up. I had to kill it as it made its way down the wall toward our stuff. The front desk was as surprised and disgusted and gave us a small discount. We paid the $10 extra for the breakfast and it was overpriced. Both ladies that worked the front desk exceeded expectations. This will be our "go to" hotel in Santee. This morning on my way for a swim a man was bawling out the front desk clerk. The man was horrid! When his embarrassed wife finally pulled him away, the desk clerk looked up at me and she smiled, "Hello, ma'am. How may I help you?" Wow! I was blown away. A sincere smile one second after being reamed out?! Still amazed at how rude the customer was and how professional she was. Anyway, the pool & pool area were clean and warm. Plenty of clean pool towels too. Clean bathrooms in the gym/ pool area. Good fresh complimentary coffee in the lobby. Both hi-test & decaf, hot water, tea bags, creamers etc as well of a good supply of cups and lids. Our Executive King room was clean and comfortable. I have to give 1 star because I can't leave zero. This is just another company wanting to get their money and not caring about their services. Don't stay here. You will get false charges on your card that are double the amount you were quoted. We cancelled our room weeks prior to "our stay" and still got charged for a room we never checked in to or checked out of. It was double the cost of the room and they "have no record" of the cancellation. The two front desk ladies just point fingers at each other and the owner is a joke!! If I could give more than five stars, I would. The cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I'm kind of a germaphobe and I wipe everything down with Clorox wipes. This is the first hotel where nothing came up on the wipes and I wipe down everything. So I'm throughly impressed. Staff was so polite, welcoming and friendly. Has a great restaurant, and they are open until 10pm and make food to order. The burger was so good after a long day on the road. Hotel rooms can sometimes be damp and you just feel icky in them, but this one was not that way at all. Cheapest pet fee for any hotel and you can bring up to 3 small dogs for one pet fee instead of increasing the fee if you have more than one. I will definitely stay here again. read more

Last month I was in South Carolina on a business trip and I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel lobby was nice and modern although I prefer the dining room for the restaurant to be enclosed in a separate area of the lobby. Checking in was quick and easy and the staff was friendly and professional. There was coffee and tea available 24/7 which was great. The room comes standard with two queen beds. Plenty of room with a dresser with a tv on top, two end tables and a desk. A bathroom with a shower. Thete The restaurant was practically part of the lobby so when enter to check in you will people enjoying their meal or having a drink at the bar. There is a Fitness room open 24 hours but it is really small. There is a treadmill and an elliptical machine, Medicine balls and small weights. The swimming pool was nice, heated and clean. I would have liked a hot tub and there was no place to change clothes except the bathrooms outside across the hall, which are used by those patronizing the restaurant and bar. This was disappointing. I changed in the bathroom because I didn't want to walk around in my swimming trunks. Otherwise a nice hotel with free Wi Fi and conveniently located near the interstate. read more

First off, the lady's at the front desk were kind and helpful. But the rooms are nothing like they used to be. Upon walking in the door, the hallway was filled with pot smoke. The shower had someone else's hair still in it. The beds were both very comfortable and old. The quality of the 1 ply toilet paper was ridiculous. There were drink stains on the tv stand and night stand. Overall still DIRTY from the previous clients. Very disappointed with the room. The entire nights sleep was disturbed due to the neighbors up and down the hallway smoking pot. Floor 3 is for non smoking; yet still smoke. Placed a towel at the front door to try to keep it out. The next morning, the housekeeping staff were laughing and yelling. Zero consideration. Not satisfied by the least with this hotel. We travel for work and have been to a lot of places and this ranks up there with some of the worst places. Had a great experience at this hotel. We stopped here in our way back from Florida to Pa. The hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating( we needed two adjoinIng rooms). Our rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. Each room had a microwave and fridge. One room even had a little sink area which helped when we needed to watch and prepare the baby's food. When we had a issue with our tvs. The hotel staff was very receptive and quick to assist us. Although we did not have a pet, we did see pets in the hotel and the hotel was pet friendly. There were even a pet friendly floor. The location of the hotel was perfect it was easily located right off of I 95. Will definitely come again if we are traveling in the area. Well worth the price. read more

The food at the restaurant is good, a little bit pricey for what it is but not horribly so and there really aren't many choices in tune immediate area. It's worth the convenience. We stopped here around midnight on a return trip from Florida, heading to Northern Va. The lady at the front desk was friendly and the lobby was modern and clean looking. When we arrived at our room it was clean and the beds were comfortable. The air conditioning was subpar at best, but we were all so exhausted that it didn't matter. My husband took 3 of my 4 children down for breakfast in the morning, around 7:50a. The waitress was friendly but she was confused about the cost. No free breakfast in this place, which was okay, but he was told that kids under 13 eat free; that was not the case. Not the end of the world but for $190/ night including tax, you would think that a small breakfast or free kid breakfast would be offered; so a bit disappointing. Second frustration was the length of time it took to get the meal. My husband and 3 kids were the only people at breakfast and it still took 25 minutes to get 3 waffles. Overall a good experience, but we now know to plan accordingly for the morning. read more

We were in town for a family member's funeral and needed a place to stay on short notice. Santee is never usually fully booked but this weekend, do to a convention that was in town. The prices were inflated but the experience was great. Service was great from the front desk, cleaning crew and all other staff. I wanted to stay at the Hampton but they were fully occupied so we selected the Holiday Inn and we truly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were well kept along with the hotel grounds. I always stay at the Holiday Inn in Rocky Mount when travelling to/from Florida. We had a change in our plans and ended up needing to stay in Santee. I was amazed that this Holiday Inn did not acknowledge their platinum guests. Bar was closed because the hotel didn't have a license to serve on Sundays. Literally - the bar was locked. The room cleanliness was sketchy. Hair on the bathroom floor - noticed as soon as we got in. Shower curtain was not on the rod properly - my husband had to fix it. I used 6 tissues - and then there were none. Just doesn't hold up to the normal Holiday Inn experience. So disappointed. read more

This was one of the worst experiences at a Holiday Inn I have had. 3 stars because they were clean and easy check in but we had a service dog so they placed us in what I call the hall of dogs, untrained loud dogs as our neighbors, woke us throughout the night. We complained twice about noise with nothing done. If we were not so tired we would have changed locations. We spent extra $ on this hotel to splurge a bit - it's surrounded by less expensive hotels, but we didn't want to risk it and enjoy things like a hot tub. Hot tub was out of order all 4 days. Elevator vibrations drowned out the tv in our room - which wasn't even next to the elevators - every time they moved. Water got no hotter than lukewarm. Front desk was dramatically understaffed every time we walked past. They simply had no time for decent customer service. We never got a hello, thank you, or good bye. On the positive side, room was clean and good wifi. Don't stay here. Many alternatives in the area, including local places that looked nice from the outside. I'm not very happy at all with our stay! We paid over $219.00. We stayed January 3, 2017. Traveling on 95 in the icy snow storm. Where everything was closed! After having nothing to eat all day. The restaurant was open we started to order some food. The manager came over and told the person taking our order that they have had to many complaints about orders taking to long so they were going to close the restaurant. We said we understand everything is closed and was willing to wait however long it took. He did not care and said NO. Will never stay at a place ever again that does not care about people. read more

I've stayed at several holiday inns in the past few years, this was by far the most disappointing. The exterior and entry are very nice, the in house restaurant is tasty (but expensive IMO). Our room however left much to be desired; 1st it was on a floor where there were smoking rooms so while our room was N/S it still smelt bad, 2nd the linens on at least one bed had what we belive to be cat hair on the "fresh" sheets (wife is allergic and started getting hives). While we did get to switch to an identical room, no comps were provided for our inconvience. The front desk clerk seemed to offer few apologizes and was not overly polite. This may have been an isolated incident but I would look elsewhere as their rates aren't drastically different from the surrounding hotels Wireless internet was decent, no sufficient lag time. An ice storm was hitting I-95 in the DC/VA area so we headed south early arriving at 5 AM. Even though the hotel had rooms vacant they refused to allow us to check in early unless we paid for an additional day. We only wanted to stay until 11 am, they insisted we pay for another night. When I spoke to the manager, who is related to a large family that runs this and several hotels around Santee said, "sorry hon, we are not changing our mind we want payment for two nights". Thank you Chase for agreeing with me and siding with the victim in my credit card dispute. Avoid this hotel, they have No empathy and stay maybe at one of our Holiday Inn favorites in Wilson NC. We stayed for one night, we were just passing through. I loved the shampoo that's in the rooms. Rooms are clean. Pet friendly. They don't have a designated area for dogs to go to the bathroom. Bring own bags. Indoor pool was heated and clean. My kids liked it. They provided pool towels. Gym equipment is old but still works. It's clean. We missed breakfast but a lot of people eat at the restaurant, must be good. The reason for 4 stars because nothing exceptional but would stay again. read more

Needed a nice place to sleep while traveling between Florida and philly on I 95 . Delightful find- clean comfy room , ( we generally avoid pet friendly because of concerns of cleanliness) and pleasant staff ( at 1 am no less) . Our room was on the 3rd floor which is no pets allowed. Most hotels along I 95 were booked up so this was a great treat. - we've bookmarked this gem for future travels. Hotel is poorly maintained, I am staying in room 223. Several holes in the wall, one hole is where the sprinkler is not putted right, saw a roach crawl out of it. Window outside the room has a huge crack in the glass, toilet is damaged, very loose, maintence and owner refuses to fix. This hotel is extremely new, but poorly maintained. Recommended staying else ware. The only positive thing is there were a lot of state troopers in the hotel which is very nice. read more

Please read the fine print. You drive all day and just want to check in and get some sleep. Only staying 1 night. Up and out early the next day. You get home to find that the Holiday Inn has charged your credit card twice. Once for the actual room cost and the other $159 for just in case. You call and are told it is their policy to double charge your credit card and there is a sign I should have read in the lobby. May take up to 30 days to get it off my card. So please read my post better then I saw their sign and dont get ripped off by this hotel. There are lot of nice hotels along 95 my recommendation is to never use this hotel again. read more

This is my first "Holiday Inn" and might be my last. The door to the bathroom was shut when we arrived. The odor when opened was disgusting. The toilet seat was up and there was a brown splatter mark on the bottom of the seat. Someone else's contact trash was left in the wastebasket. The bathroom floor was sticky with hairspray. There was a long black hair and a spider in the tub. When the tub turned on there was black mold that back washed into the tub. It is December and the room was stuffy. We turned on the AC but it did not work well. Very stuffy room and no fan in bathroom to soak up steam. The sheets were super wrinkled but appeared clean. I am not impressed and will not return. Ok so let's start with the good. The lady at the front desk was very sweet when we checked in. Parking was a breeze and we didn't get there until about 11pm on a Saturday night. When we got into our room, there were 2 boxes in the drawer. One was a Coors 24 pack and the other was Natural Ice 24 pack. Both boxes were empty but still in the drawer which leads me to believe the cleaning was sub par. I checked the bed linens thoroughly and to my surprise they appeared very clean. We slept good, the beds weren't bad at all. In the morning while taking a shower I notice a half used bar of soap in the shower. Gross! They do have a restaurant for breakfast which is NOT free. However, for 200$ a night they should've at least had complimentary bagels and fruit. At any rate, the hotel wasn't awful but it wasn't very nice either. If you're just looking for somewhere to lay your head for ONE night then it's ok. Not somewhere to spend more than just a night. We were heading back to Florida from Maryland and decided to stop and rest here. read more
