Location, service, parking and the common areas are good. Breakfast variety and the smell of the rooms are not. For breakfast there was only 1 choice of bread (biscuits). No string cheese, no hard boiled eggs, no berries, no real cream for the coffee, but don't worry the coffee was super weak anyway... these are regular items in most hotel-included breakfasts. The eggs were pretty bad too. And the rooms look nice but they have an old and musky smell, perhaps they need to change the carpets? Definitely an ok place to stay at but would be MUCH better if the address those issues. read more

A nice hotel in Yakima. The staff and facilities are nice. Our double queen bedroom is huge, the rolling bed is nice and new. The air-conditioning isn't loud. The only problem is the bathroom, the spring loaded auto door close is squeaky and the placement of the toilet paper holder is too close to the shower curtain, so we took the roll off the holder and you have to holder down the toilet handle for a proper flush too. We're here for the WMEA conference. The hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday! read more

3 stars (emotionally) | 2 Stars (mechanically) So we check into our "accessible" room, which is always a fun phrase because sometimes it means "thought about accessibility," and sometimes it means "we've seen a ramp once." Let's start with the door. When I say this door was heavy, I don't mean sturdy. I mean this door has a gym membership. This door does deadlifts. If you use mobility equipment, congratulations -- you've unlocked Bonus Level: Upper Body Strength. I stood there thinking, "Ohhh. Accessibility is more of a suggestion." Thankfully I had help. Otherwise I'd still be in the hallway explaining to guests that I technically live here now. "Yes, I have hallway timeshare rights." Then we get to the bathroom. There's a shower bench. Now I love a shower bench. I respect a shower bench. But this one? This one was not securely bolted. It was emotionally bolted. Spiritually bolted. We let the front desk know. They thanked us for being proactive. Which is nice. Very polite. No one fixed it. So now I'm showering like I'm on a reality show called Trust Fall: Bathroom Edition. Meanwhile -- housekeeping. Three days. Not once. I don't need luxury. I don't need chocolates on the pillow. But after day three you start wondering if you've been softly erased from the census. Let's talk about the key cards. We replaced them four times. Four. At that point I'm not a guest. I'm in a loyalty program with the key card printer. And here's the kicker: you have to insert a key card into a slot to keep the electricity on. So the key cards don't work... but they are also the only thing preventing you from living in darkness. It's like the hotel said, "What if electricity... but make it a scavenger hunt?" Every time we go to the front desk? No one's there. Just an empty counter and vibes. We're standing there like, "Do we knock? Do we ring a bell? Do we Venmo the building?" Room service. Menu says 5:00-9:30 PM. We call at 9:00. Kitchen's closed. "Oh yeah," they say. "The hours changed. We haven't updated the menu." Oh. So the menu is archival material. It's a historical document. The next night we order. They don't follow the instructions. They remake it. At this point I've spent more time coordinating dinner than I did at the actual conference I traveled for. Late checkout? That's a negotiation. They say housekeeping decides. Housekeeping. The mythical beings we have not seen in three days. We ask again. They say priority goes to IHG members. "I am an IHG member." "It's not showing up." Eventually: "Oh. There it is. 2 PM." So late checkout requires documentary proof. I should've brought exhibits. Checkout day? No "How was everything?" No "Thanks for staying with us." Just a silent transfer of air between humans. But everywhere--QR codes. "Leave us a review!" And honestly? I respect that confidence. That's the kind of self-belief I aspire to. Look, it wasn't catastrophic. It wasn't a disaster. It was just consistently, creatively underwhelming. Accessibility that requires assistance. Service that occasionally phases out of existence. Key cards with commitment issues. A shower bench living its truth. Would I stay again? If options are limited? Maybe. This place looks nice...on the outside. Once you get past the front desk, there is a kinda dingy looking restaurant/bar. This place is too new for the place to look that old and slightly dirty already. Our room was huge but mostly wasted space. We were put in a handicapped accessible room, so I guess that is why there are no chairs, because someone with a wheelchair couldn't possibly be with someone who DOESN'T have a wheelchair and need a regular chair right? Ugh I think this used to be a conference room or maybe an office space, not entirely sure. It is a big square room that you could easily fit four to six king beds in. The television is, as my wife put it, "Two rooms away" so not great for viewing. Maybe if we at least had a chair to sit closer? The capper was the fact that there are very cheap blinds on the window and that is all. The very well lit parking lot is right outside our room. I managed to jam a blanket in between the window frame and the blinds to block most of the light, but what hotel doesn't have shades to block light? Especially at $125 a night! We thought maybe this was an anomaly just for this room. We called the front desk and asked. No, all the rooms only have these ridiculous blinds. If you are staying in Yakima, go to ANY hotel but this one. read more

Dog-friendly: this is why we came. Located just across the street from the convention center, this is a great location with easy highway access. Parking is a fenced (room key controlled) parking lot, but the area is a little unsavory - so they recommend bringing all valuables inside. We enjoyed our room, it was comfortable for the dog, and the beds were comfortable for the people. The blackout blinds are especially nice (unlike curtains which you know you can never completely close), and I'm sure come in handy in the blazing heat of the summer (we came in the winter). We paid the upcharge for breakfast, and you can order any breakfast entree from the menu - and it is cooked to order. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, and the food came out super fast. The only drawback is the hot tub/pool area was closed. This seems to be a thing at all the hotels we stayed at over the winter holidays - they just shut down the pool/hot tub area due to chemicals. I read other reviews of the hotel from various times of the year, and all pointed out the hot tub being closed. read more

This place is nice and comfortable with friendly staff. I'd stay here again if I was in the area. It has a newer feel than many of the places I stay for similar prices. The gated parking area is a nice touch if you worry about your car when you travel. Being above the parking lot did lead to hearing noise from the parking lot quite frequently. The room was dark and good for sleeping if car alarms had not gone off so regularly, but I guess this is the fault of the car owner not the hotel. There is a restaurant/bar on site, but it does close early. There's a little store type area in the lobby if you just want to buy something to take to your room. There are some fast food type places nearby and a couple places you could walk to. My partner was a little confused as he thought breakfast was included, but it is not. The gym and pool looked nice, but we were annoyed that the hot tub was closed on all 3 of the days we were there. The front desk did not seem to have an explanation for why or when it might reopen. This hotel gets 3 strikes. First, the woman at the desk was snotty in my opinion, "pissy" in my husband's. She was rude and condescending. Second, when we went to eat in the restaurant, there was a very strong odor of rubber or tar. The third strike was weird, we had to put our key in to make the bathroom light stay on. Another annoyance was the dog barking in the room next to us, and there was a disgusting stain on the floor that looked like dog poop may have been there. Nope. Not coming back. Location for this hotel is very good. HWY 82 is nearby. Starbucks, Target and Walmart is also nearby (still need to drive to get there). They provide friendly service (front desk staff). This is one of the cleanest hotels in Yakima. It is a family and animal friendly hotel. Here are information: Parking: Front desk staff provides parking permit. 2/3 of parking spaces are inside of gated area (much safer). Hotel room key will open the gate to enter to parking spaces. Also there are parking spaces outside of gated area as well Swimming pool: Require a reservation to use (one hour max) and please call ahead. Also I experienced that many cancellations for swimming pool. So you might be able to use but will need to check with front desk for swimming pool cancellation (front desk staff are very friendly). Room: Very clean and less nosy. Fitness center: It has dumbbells, bench, treadmill and elliptical machines. Price is right if you reserve early. I will definitely consider coming back. read more

I only gave this place 1 star because zero stars aren't an option. We called the night before and asked to make sure the pool and hot tub were working. We were told yes so we went ahead to book. My son is severely autistic wanted to swim for his birthday. Upon arriving to our room we noticed the blinds weren't working because the key pad on the wall had to batteries. We also noticed there were blue m&m's and pennies on the floor, not ours. We were switched to a different room and decided to go swimming. That was a mistake. When walking into the pool the floor was covered in the water, the amount of moisture in there was not normal. Upon getting into the very cold hot tub, we looked up and saw a bunch of mold. On the pool deck there was also blood. We get out absolutely disgusted and look for a towel. But all the towels had been used to line the wall to soak up all the water and moisture from the windows. I went to the front desk and let her know we'd be checking out and we'd like a refund. She contacted the manager not on site and offered us free breakfast. No thank you we told her, we won't be staying. The manager wasn't available when we asked for a refund suddenly. We checked out, my son very disappointed. On Monday I called and spoke with a girl named Courtney. She was terribly rude and told me nobody else has complained about that but I even took a bunch of pictures for proof. The hotel wasn't full and for their sake they should be glad nobody else saw it. I then contacted the health department who wanted pictures and will investigate. Kristie another a manager apparently was skeptical at first but upon sending pictures to her she realized how disgusting this was. We were refunded our money and were told the pool and hot tub were shut down. We will never stay there or another holiday inn again. What a terrible experience. Also, the head manager Annelise never even reached out or was reachable. If you value your health and don't want to be gaslit or treated rudely, I'd spend your money elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service/brand management. I came in with a request that was quickly and coldly denied. I understand policies are in place, however I truly believe my situation was a "one-off" and any friendly employee or brand representative would have agreed. I asked Bella at the front desk if I could see the "policy" she was referring to. She told me the policy does not exist in writing, it's simply a policy that their owner told them. So I asked to speak with a manager or the owner. She denied. Her attitude was very cold and unaccommodating. Their key card envelope says "unlock a smile" which I found ironic as I left my encounter here crying. I would suggest any potential guests look elsewhere. Being well traveled over the last decade of my career - I can honestly say this is one of the top Holiday Inns I've ever stayed at across the US. Probably among the best hotels in general too. Ultra clean facility and rooms. Everything is updated and bright. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating. There is a gated parking lot as well which gave me a lot of peace of mind while sleeping as I traveled here by motorcycle. The location is great as well, as it's about a mile away from all the downtown restaurants and bars and right off the freeway as well. There really isn't I could complain about. Loved it! This review is really on the service level of this property. We decided on a whim to just take off and head to central Washington...... Why? Just because. So we head out and have no reservations just a general location to head. We arrive in Yakima and stop by this property after stopping at one additional and I have to say Taylor at the front desk was the winning smile and greetings that made us stay. Not only did we get a rate that was extremely fair but she walked me right through the security gate procedure for the secured parking lot, gave us information on the area and then when returning from the pool asked us if we were happy with our room, and gave us a free appetizer coupon with an entree at the bistro. The next morning after breakfast (complementary order off the menu and cooked to order mind you, not a free for all buffet) she was again at the front desk and made sure to say hello to my wife as we headed out for the day and made sure we were again happy with the room and hotel. Love this place...... centrally located and so nice. currently doing some renovations on the 4th floor but that just shows they are keeping things fresh. We found this lovely hotel thanks to a recommendation by one of the waitresses at local restaurant, Olive Garden. It suited my family of four well for the unexpected night away, instead of camping on Mt Rainier as the heat wave was in full swing. The very first moment was awesome as we entered the lobby, escaping the scorching heat, a polite young man encouraged us to have a drink of water with Lemon and cucumber slices amongst the ice. It was refreshing and delicious! Check in was a breeze. The room was tidy and clean, the common areas were well used, but completely effective and certainly up to my cleanliness standards. Had a great stay. Will definitely stay again. Only cons: elevators are hot, not air conditioned and breakfast is not included with all room rates. 10/10 for housekeeping and breakfast wait staff! The hotel is immaculately clean and we had friendly and efficient service from the breakfast server. Please note there is not a buffet for breakfast but a fabulous menu for a hotel of this price awaits you with the cost of your room. Delicious egg and salmon breakfast for me, and my room was so comfortable and clean. Safety is also good with a gated parking lot and key card entry. Where the hotel loses stars and esteem is in its customer service at the front desk and bar, and in whomever coordinates the event spaces. We utilised the big event room for two full days as a group. The front desk representative during the day was helpful about 75% of the time, but 100% of the time gave attitude to even the smallest request. There were a more than a few times in our 3 day/ 2 night stay that her response to something like "may I please charge this bottle of water to my room" was met with veiled hostility wrapped up in surgery sweetness. Also, sadly, details were missed- The event room wasn't cleaned or locked overnight, even though we asked it to be locked as we left all of our belongings, and garbages were overflowing when we returned to our space in the morning of the second day. Much nicer and newer than the Red Lion across the street, and still very convenient to the Convention Center (it's right across the street). Still has that "new hotel" smell. Everything is clean and shiny. There's a small-ish indoor pool, which is open all year long. It's a bright space. Room was nice and clean, bed was super comfortable. Adorably, they give you different pillow firmness options (from firm to quite soft) which was a cute touch. Made us feel valued and empowered as guests, and doesn't really cost them anything. Breakfast wasn't included, but they did offer guests a 20% off coupon. Although, having eaten at the sitdown restaurant, I'd advise skipping it. Food was mediocre and more expensive than I expected. Even at the 20% off, find something else in town. Had some issues with the billing, but that might've been a screw-up on my boss's part. Our personal credit cards (required at check=in for any "incidentals") were charged for the price of the room, when that was supposed to go on the company card called in when making the reservation. Ah well. Seriously, if you are in town for the Convention Center, this is WAY better than the Red Lion across the street. read more

We also saw an used soap and opened shampoo bottle in the bathroom. We waited for 20 minuets to get another room, but when we enter the second one, the bed was not made, the room was not cleaned, it's even worse!! We needed to drag our stuff back to the lobby, waiting for them to finish cleaning up the first room we got. By then the Thai restaurant we planned to go was going to close in 10 mins. We were so tired to search for food and ended up going to bed without proper dinner. This was our first time staying in Holiday Inn, so disappointed! read more

Great thanks to all the staff! The manager showed up at 7am to meet me to make sure there was a room clean so I could get right in and get some sleep !!!! Well maybe not for me but the Broadway show staff that was on my bus might have had some pull but the king bed in my room was amazing I only wish I could afford one for my wife and our home anyway the place was great they had Starbucks 24-7 they had a bistro on site. But the two girls that were working the front desk were great !! They helped me with the laundry the washer didn't spin enough so had to finally use the big one in the back so I could get some sleep!! Any don't stay anywhere else if you need a hotel you won't be disappointed!!! The manager helped me by showing me where to plug in my bus so it would start and he even grabbed some salt himself and spread it out in front of my bus door!!! I didn't expect him to jump in but he was great said I'll take care of it don't worry !!!! Absolutely the best service I've seen in a long time ! This is probably one of the best places to stay in Yakima. It's a newer Holiday Inn. Before today I would have given 3 stars. Beds are pretty comfortable and rooms appear pretty clean. We stayed here once before and had no issues. However, this time we went out for a day of wine tasting and came back to the room at 5:30 PM only to find that it had not been cleaned. We called down to the front desk and asked why it had not been cleaned because we are always very careful to remove the do not disturb sign. We got attitude and were told that because the do not disturb sign was on at 8:42 AM they just decided not to come back. We pointed out that some time in the last eight hours they could have easily come and cleaned the room. We left the room at 9 AM. This is a Saturday. It's pretty rational and normal that someone might have do not disturb on at 8:42 in the morning on a Saturday. Anyway, the attitude left a lot to be desired. They did bring some towels up, but that was even a struggle. Be fair the girl who brought the towels up was apologetic. But the attitude at the front desk and the fact that obviously no one bothered to come and check on cleaning rooms after 9 AM makes me not want to stay here again. I should also mention that there is almost no one staying in this hotel. It's not like they were busy. There are not a lot of amazing lodging options in Yakima and I used to think this was one of the best, but I will think twice about staying here next time. read more

When we arrived at 8 pm we got our room but our friends we traveled with were told that the hotel over booked the rooms and that the hotel took the liberty to cancel their reservation that day. They insisted they left a voicemail message earlier that day advising they canceled but we were traveling by motorcycle from Wisconsin and did not get the message. Our friends did find lodging but this was a birthday celebration and a bucket list trip for us. By the time we found alternative lodging all of the restaurants were closed. Our day was not ruined but our night surely was. We went to bed angry, hungry, extremely disappointed and in different hotels. Worst experience EVER! read more

Recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in Yakima for business. It is located right in the downtown area close to the Convention Center, with many other restaurants and bars, within walking distance. The hotel is very up-to-date, clean and welcoming. It still looks brand new inside and out. The rooms are large, comfortable and feature a lot of amenities including flat-screen TV, minifridge, Keurig, free wireless, etc. The only thing noticeably absent is a microwave (there is one available in the lobby however). Overall, the rooms are quite nice. The Holiday Inn also has room service with a lot of options (however pricey). Downstairs in the lobby there is a Bistro and bar (for which you get a few coupons for). Unfortunately, there is no continental breakfast and the only things on the menu are fairly expensive, (even with the coupons- which was fairly disappointing). The nights I stayed also had a seafood and steak buffet for $23. Although they seemed to have a lot of good looking food like salmon and crab legs, it still seemed a little steep. There are plenty of good restaurants right down the road though. Overall, it was a great experience with a few flaws that made it an decent place to stay. read more

But in light of the fact that we just spent the night practically across the street at the Holiday Inn Express? Stay here! Unless money is an issue (we opted to save $100) then my advice to you is avoid the "Express" and just stay at the "Inn". I remember being amazed at how nice this place was. Very modern, super comfortable beds and "green" too! The key cards activate the lights in the room. No key card? The lights go out. Also handy for making sure you don't misplace the little bugger! I stayed in the hotel and attended a conference here. I'm giving it four stars, but with some reservations (pun mostly intended, sorry). The hotel lobby and rooms are really nice: Clean, comfortable, very new and modern. The staff at the front desk are friendly and efficient. Even with a large group here for a conference, there was rarely much of a wait at the desk, and I was able to get questions answered. We also called the front desk several times with questions, and they were quick and responsive. The room was nice - pristine sheets, comfortable mattresses and pillows. The WiFi didn't like Windows 10/Firefox, but I did eventually get it working. Although I ended up not bringing my dog, pets are welcome here which is so nice, and I did run into a big, friendly dog on the elevator. The room was quiet, and I never heard sounds from the neighboring room or the hallway. My daughter gave high marks to the pool, which she spent hours swimming in. The minuses: The restaurant was understaffed, which was especially surprising because they knew they had a large group staying there for an event. For breakfast, for example, there was only one waitress on duty, yet everyone in our group (75 or more people) had to be at the same 9am meeting. It took our table nearly an hour to get through the meal; others who arrived later didn't get breakfast at all. The tables were not cleaned in between guests, except for removing plates. I was disappointed there weren't smaller breakfasts; everything seemed to be huge portions. The food was okay; about what you'd expect both in the restaurant and at our event luncheon. Similarly, the meeting room was set up rather awkwardly, with the placement of chairs making it difficult to enter and exit the room. Very tight quarters. I'd definitely stay here again for the hotel. I don't know that I'd run any large events here again, although they may do better with smaller events since the primary issues we encountered related to room size and staffing. read more

Pros: Brand new hotel. Clean. Convenient location in Yakima. Cons: The hotel is at a noisy intersection. If your windows are open then you will hear sirens, noise, etc. This is easily remedied by closing the windows. The major con of this hotel is Kem's Restaurant. This restaurant is EXTREMELY understaffed. This is ok if you're having a leisurely dinner, but don't bother coming here unless you have at least 90 minutes to sit around and wait. This is strictly a review of our Christmas party that was held by my employer. The first year they held it at this location I believe. I'm sure lots of planning was put into the endeavor, but we left after only about 1 hr. They served what I guess one would call "hors d'oeuvres." Tiny plates and dried out biscuits that would have been a great substitute for a hockey puck. The wait staff that cleared tables was ok, but not all that friendly. We had a better "continental breakfast" at the Quality Inn in Vancouver, WA. No music either, not sure if this was an oversight on my companies part, but it made for a dull holiday party. If this dining experience is anything like a stay at this hotel, count us out. read more

First I'll say that I'm a platinum member and am used to the Holiday Inn doing a much better job. But I'll set that aside and tell you the good bad and ugly. Good, location close to the convention center and freeway, gated parking lot, newer building that looks nice and has a welcoming atmosphere. Bad, not a great part of town. Ugly, didn't get a good clean after our first night stay including no soap, glasses, towels, coffee. I was shocked as I've never had this happen at any other Holiday Inn EVER!! I'm not sure that we would come back we specifically chose this Holiday Inn over the express and now I'm disappointed that we did. The restaurant was so so and the coffee shop was closed due to the holiday weekend so the reasons I booked that this Holiday Inn Vs the express really didn't pan out. read more

Very modern facility. Our room contained two double beds, was very clean and well laid out. I deducted one star because the mattress was much too soft for my liking. Other than that, we had no complaints. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, the room was very clean and the express check-out was helpful. read more

I stayed at the holiday inn for a conference the last 2 nights, and idk if they are under new management or what, but it was a great experience, enough to make me reconsider my usual best western go-to. Staff was extremely helpful, I forgot my ipad charger and the staff person looked all over for one (they must've had literally every other charger but that one, big box and drawer full) and they were super chill about hooking me up with some toiletries I forgot. Beds were more comfy than my own, and in addition to 2 firm and 2 soft (labeled!) pillows, they have a pillow menu. My only regret is not finding out exactly what that means... Free wifi, clean pool and hot tub, no continental breakfast but they've got a cute restaurant, and I'm not one for continentals anyway. Easy check out, no noise in the halls, they do have the thing that requires the key card to have the lights on, but also doubles as a 'don't lose your damn key' strategy. This might be the first time I've turned in both. All in all, I'd go back and I would stay at another location. I don't think this was the express, it's literally across from the convention center and not in the dodgiest part of town. read more
