Holiday is known to be OVERPRICED on most of the food Items and just in general its overpriced on everything in the store. I noticed when Govid happened Holiday took full advantage of Price Gouging. I have noticed they never set there prices back to now that everything is not at a shortage. They have gone up 60 to 75% on most food items. I can't believe they price Mayonnaise over $8.00. Their diary and eggs as well. THAT IS CALLED PRICE GOUGING. AND MOST OF THERE PRODUCTS ARE GOING OLD ON THE SHELF. PURCHASE SOUR CREAM AND DATE WAS DATED TWO DAYS BEFORE EXPERATION WHEN I PURCHASED IT. So not a good place to shop if your trying safe a little. The sandwiches have no flavor at all. The sandwiches almost taste like nothing. They charge an extra dollar for avocado and only put two or three tiny slices on (not even 1/4 of an avocado). Go to raileys for a sandwich, they are soo much better. read more

I just moved into the area, and I was hesitant to visit because why would they have fresh produce, organic, and regular groceries all in one? Wow, I loved it! First impressions matter. As I'm walking in, the produce is all nicely organized, and the store is clean. Great selection, including organics and specialty items. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and my local Ralph's all in one. And there's an amazing deli! I walked every aisle. I didn't want to miss anything. This is my first time at a Holiday Market too. Keep up the good work! read more

Not only did I work for Holiday over a decade ago (and they were wonderful people to work with/for), but during covid I have now chosen to shop SOLEY at Holiday, even if it means going out of my way. I will continue to spend hundreds here every week, as will our large extended family and friends. We appreciate Holidays very good, common sense response to the pandemic. I have been a loyal Holiday customer for 18 years and have always loved the service I gave received. However, of late I have not been very happy with them. I understand that the market tries very hard to serve all their customers needs.... But I have noticed that in the process of doing so they have forgotten their older and most loyal customers. Of late I have noticed that a lot of the products that I have bought at their store have come off the shelves and not re-ordered after multiple requests. Also, even though they have a very large organic produce section a lot of people can't afford the higher price of organic and have to go elsewhere for produce that is more reasonably priced like Safeway. Don't get me wrong I love my holiday market, I love the staff. Marge the cook makes the store!! She always has a smile, a kind word and a huge heart! Her beer and wine tastings is the hit of the store! JJ is also probably the best floor person holiday has. He's hard-working, knows where everything is and is more than willing to help find what you need along with making you feel like you're the most important person in the store! Holiday Market is the local supermarket in Palo Cedro, our community of about 4,000 people in Shasta County. It's the weekend, so like a lot of people shopping here at the end of the day, it looks like the guy in front of me has put in a full day working hard on his property. He's wearing maybe the most filthy, soiled, sweat-stained bucket hat on the planet. A checker opens up another lane and does the, "I'll take the next person in line" drill. I've got about five items in my basket. The guy in front of me has about 25 in his cart. He turns around and looks at me. Me: Go ahead. Him: No, partner, you go 'head. She's lookin' like she's 'bout ready for me here in this line. It's not every neighborhood grocery store where Merle Haggard cuts you some slack and lets you take his place in line. I mean, the dude is up there with Johnny Cash when it comes to outlaw country/indie cred. He's playing Bonnaroo this year, for God's sake. "Tonight the bottle let me down And let your memory come around The one true friend I thought I'd found But tonight the bottle let me down...." That's some good shit, neighbor. I just paid a visit to Redding's Holiday Market on Placer and realized I really shout pay my respects to the Palo Cedro branch. Seriously, hats off to you, Palo Cedro Holiday. Since moving back from the Bay Area, Holiday has not only put up with my incessant requests for Brown Cow yogurt, hummus, organic crackers, and other, typically liberal-fares--they have also followed through! They have done a great job of promoting the "consumer requested" items--I'm in love with their organic aisle and the organic dairy section is to die for (Not only do they have one of the best selections of organic/soy based milks, they recently started stocking Greek yogurts and European rice pudding--definitely a treat if you have not tried either of them). If there is something you think is missing, please, just ask one of the managers or check out clerks. Even in Palo Cedro, CA, it's nice to know that one's horizons can be broadened. read more

Holiday has really grown up since I moved away from Palo Cedro. The addition of an entire "natural foods" aisle, and a large organic and natural dairy section is impressive considering the demo they are selling to. Or maybe the community is changing? Anyway, I like it. I also like that you can put in customer requests for them to carry foods they don't already. More grocery stores should have that system. read more

This is a great little market that we stop at frequently when we're traveling to/from Redding. They have a great selection of products and the staff are always friendly and helpful. (I've had a couple of run-ins with some really rude patrons, but that's not the business's fault). I prefer stopping here over a gas station because you can also get a sandwich and fountain drink from the deli - far tastier than food that's been sitting under the heating lamps at a gas station! read more

What has happened to the Holiday Markets. I drove from the west side to Palo Cedro today because the Holiday on Placer has horrible produce. That store is also slow to restock. Most often the shelf is bare of at least one item I need. So I am now sitting in front of the Palo Cedro store disappointed. The produce looked good, I found most of what I needed, but the cashier was rude. I have thousands of points, and routinely use them for 10% off larger orders. With my purchase today totaling close to $200, I asked for that discount. Too late--he explained that he had already punched the button. "Sorry about that". Honestly, there was not a second between him quoting the total and my asking for the discount. I gained those points with over 25 years of satisfaction with this small chain. So sorry to see their decline. read more

Unfortunately, Holiday Market in Palo Cedro is the winner of my first 1-star rating but let me preface the review by saying it's directly a result of the deli service we received and not a reflection of the store in general. I actually think Holiday #40 is one of the nicest of all Holiday Markets except for #59 on Placer/Buenaventura. One evening, my two sons and I visited the store to pick up some groceries and deli sandwiches for dinner after a Foothill Jr. Cougar football practice. We approached the deli counter at 8:52PM, at which time I courteously asked the counter representative (Rebecca) if they were still making sandwiches. She was quite exasperated, and replied with an abrupt "well...we close at 9." The kids and I quickly filled out our sandwich orders and handed them in. She made it very clear while pounding away at our sandwiches that she was displeased with the time frame of our order (and there was even two other customers behind us). I continued to be very courteous and understanding, but she was having none of it. She slammed down our sandwiches one by one (with a minute to spare before 9PM, I should add), each of them looking slightly more deformed than the last. When we got home and opened them - you guessed it - we found mangled versions of what appeared to be sandwiches. They had crusty, old bread, they were missing ingredients, hastily put together, and one of them literally appeared to have been smashed by her fist! Listen people, I've been in retail for almost 30 years including working in grocery stores for a decade between the ages of 8 and 18 during summer breaks, holidays, weekends, and school vacation periods. I know, better than most, how frustrating the closing procedure can be in a grocery store. But here's the issue, if you're open until 9PM - it doesn't mean you can start turning customers and sales away at 8:52PM. If these employees want to be off the clock at 9PM, then perhaps closing the deli at 8:30PM would be a valid option. I'm fairly certain that any store manager would be very disappointed in an employee who was punishing customers with poor service and products because they were pissed about closing time. Bottom line? Buck up people...it's your job and it's a customer service job. If you don't like it, please do us all a favor and quit! There are plenty of jobs where you won't have to talk to anyone. We all get frustrated, but if you're on the clock - you'd better keep a bottle of chill pills close by and remember the age-old business cliche "the customer is always right!" read more

I shop at the Palo cedro store. I love it. Yes it's a bit higher priced than say Walmart but the food is so much better. And when I figured it out by the time you pay for gas and your time it's about the same. They have everything you want and if they don't have what your looking for they will get it for you. This place is always so clean and we'll kept. Sometimes the stock can be sold out but that's expected. Grady is always a great person to deal with and very helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here for anything you may need to cook with. Although sometimes it seems like a bother to get a sandwich from here. I can understand that though making sandwiches all day for people must get stressful. But their serving sizes are amazing and so is the quality. I'm always delighted to have a sandwich from here... Plus it comes with a free drink for 6$ you can't beat that deal at all. read more

I buy 100% of my organic produce at this holiday.good quality.sandwiches at deli are excellent as well,although i think the deli staff may be over worked or under staffed,when you go to order a sandwich they always seem overwhelmed and occasionally even seem irritated you want a sandwich and very often my sandwich order is wrong.but they are still good.sushi is excellent in that area as well,its the only pre made sushi ive ever tried and actually liked. Really wish Holiday would have a red box for dvds outside there store.dont really care for the dvd box they have now. and the tri tips on weekends smell amazing read more
