We walked in when they opened and were greeted by a very friendly host who allowed us to sit wherever we wanted. We chose a high top in the bar and I was very impressed with the sound quality of the music and the atmosphere. The waiter was on top of it and very helpful. I had the Shaved Brussell Sprouts Salad and my wife had the Crispy Chicken Wrap. My salad was wonderful with a lot of well-balanced flavors. Next time I will ask them to mix it for me. My wife's Crispy Chicken warp was really good and we would both get them again. Not a big selection of food but what they do have they do right. Oh... my... gosh. YUM! I had heard positive things and have been saying for the better part of a year now, that I wanted to get out there and give them a try. The food was superb and the service was top-notch! The only regret that I have tonight, is not going sooner. I ordered the special, which consisted of soup or salad, an eight ounce filet mignon, three jumbo prawns, and a side of creamy cajun pasta. For starters, I went with the soup which was a green chicken chili I recall? One sip into it and I was wondering if I should have simply ordered a bowl of that, because it was THAT good. I'm usually weary of ordering steak, too, because I make a mean one at home. SO glad that I did! Was cooked perfect to medium rare and seasoned just right. So tender, that it nearly melted in my mouth. Did I mention that the pasta was homemade, too? DELICIOUS. I rarely order dessert, and was stuffed by the end, however they just so happened to have key lime (my favorite) cheesecake. Of course, I had to indulge. *inserts chef's kiss emoji* The staff were just as amazing and I have to give them credit as well, because a restaurant is only as strong as it's team and they all shine here. Paul was our server and suuuuch a nice guy. A f*ckin' rockstar. I could feel the genuineness oozing from this man. So polite, well-spoken, and just the right amount of professionalism was held without coming across automated. The kids who helped run the food were very polite as well. What I loved most, outside of the meal, was the down-to-earth vibe and atmosphere. There was no crazy dress code that I noticed, in fact, it seemed like majority were dressed in their casual everyday wear, from head to toe. I think that's important because it gives them a chance to express themselves and their individuality, providing us a chance to be able and see them for who they are, and not just an "employee." They all appeared natural and confident, "at home" you could say. The relaxed setting was fantastic and they slang out one of the best meals I've ever had had, accompanied by the service that I just noted. If I was absolutely forced to choose something about the experience that I felt could have been better, maybe add one or two more prawns to the plate? That being said, I walked out full (a good type of full, not feeling like garbage) and can say with 100% confidence that this is the best experience I've had in a restaurant in... well, I'm not even sure how long. Quite some time. Mind blown by the quality and literal love that I felt, and tasted, masterfully crafted into this utter soul-food. 10/10, so keep doing what you guys are doing! I was unaware of this restaurant but friends took us promising great things. I wish there was a half star I could throw in because the appetizer and salad were above average. The fried cheese curds with dipping sauces were so good. I loved the extra dill in the ranch! The salad had great ingredients-bonus points for onions-and the dressing was not overly sweet. Full points there. Unfortunately the main course was less than expected. It was not bad, so don't get me wrong. But it was underwhelming. No pan sauce on the schnitzel and the onion/mushroom topping tasted good but was kind of dry. Same for the schnitzel. The greens with it were a tad bitter. The mashed potatoes hit the spot but were a little sparse. All in all I was fine but not in love with my meal. I think they have great potential but are misting it on the meals. Kitchen would then be closing,.. made to feel really unwelcome and uncomfortable! Questions about menu got a short response. When I called to complain... the reasoning behind the poor service was that they weren't making any money!?! I was about to spend about 100 on breakfast??? I've given this place multiple tries and each time I go it's the same thing. All I want for breakfast (anywhere I go) is a sandwich with all the items that are served for breakfast - toast, egg, cheese, bacon. It's not complicated. I understand it is not a menu item, but this is a breakfast staple. The first time I asked, it was a hard no, they could not do that. It was "impossible". I did not argue, I ordered something off the menu that was fairly edible. When I went again (because I like to give a second chance), and asked a different server for this accommodation - friendly reminder - it's toast, egg, cheese, bacon - all on the menu - she said that I could buy a breakfast that has those components and put it together myself. Um, okay. Again, I'm not one to argue, so I got something else that was mediocre at best and paid my bill and left. It's disappointing because I felt like this place would have a more welcoming, hometown feel - but that definitely was not my experience. read more

In a nondescript strip mall in Palo Cedro is where you will find Norms. Don't let that fool you though, this place has some amazing food! I would have given it 5 stars but it took us a little bit of time to even have someone acknowledge us to be seated. After that the staff were friendly and super attentive, constantly filing our drinks and making sure we were doing good. My husband got the black and blue burger and said it was the best burger he ever had! The bacon was crispy the avocado was perfect and the meat and the bun were amazing! Everything perfectly cooked! I have been coming here for over a year, as I had left the Bay Area of thousands of fantastic restaurants, and I was in the restaurant business myself for 25 years , I was so excited to eat here. The first couple of visits were great, but last night was atrocious. We arrived at 5pm exactly and received the warm food cold, and the cold food at room temp. And it took 1 freaking hour to get to the table, we were literally the first ones there!! Empty restaurant for 30 minutes. 1 hour!!!!! We started with the Prawn cocktail, 6 pieces for $15.00. Nice and cold, great cocktail sauce. Not the best quality prawns for $15.00, there were FARMED. My guest ordered the Mac n Cheese for a horrendous price of $28.00! Norms 8 oz Prime Rib, $55.00! A Prime Rib, Local Grass Fed Beef, in a steakhouse near Tahoe is $29.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 Star Quality! I could make enough mac and cheese for $28.00, that would have more flavor and feed 7 people at least. My guest's side salad looked like something scraped off the cracks of a sidewalk with over grown woody arugula that she couldn't chew. 3 of the Wines she ordered off the wine list, we not in stock. Last choice. Water. I am on a low carb diet for a few more weeks, so I opted for the Crispy Chicken Salad, which to an embarrassment, what I got was over cooked dried out chicken on top of that pathetic woody arugula and a wilted, not fresh spinach, with some sort of weird diced, I do not know what, salsa at the bottom of the bowl, with a sweet vinaigrette on the side. I literally felt like I needed horse teeth to eat through this dish for a whopping $24.00 down right slap in the face prices! I have managed 5, 4 Star restaurants in SF and know my prices. This was NOT a $24.00 salad, it was crap from the night before old rotten produce and dried out rotten chicken. I couldn't stand to eat another leaf. The bus girl came over asked if we needed boxes, I said "Um, No, sorry, this is inedible, we will take the check." I am not one to start a scene or complain at the table, as the restaurant was full and I didn't want the other guests to hear what was going on. I told the server and she said, "Oh, well, next time, just let me know and we will change the salad". ARE YOU KIDDING?? YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE ANYTHING! Went for dinner and noticed that reviews looked good so thought we would try it out ! Upon arrival we were greeted and sat pretty quick. Sat down waited about 5 min before manager came by said hi and said server would be there shortly . Waited almost 10 more min and a server never showed up. Based on this we decided to leave . A few notes : 1. Place was not busy at all not sure why a server didn't come over 2. Prices are high for the area ! Over 45$ for a steak . We were very surprised at the pricing especially for not having a full bar. Only beer , wine & mimosas . 3. Very bright . Too bright . I had the pulled pork sandwich, and my GF had one of the hamburgers. First off, the helpings are GENEROUS! Lots of food! The pulled pork sandwich might be one of the top 3 sandwiches I've ever had. Ridiculously good! My GF said the burger was also excellent. Service was GREAT! I don't know the name of our guy coming to the table, but he was very nice, very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I love going to this restaurant. The food is like an elevated "home style". I only wish I could make food as good as this at home! Last time we went I had the surf and turf special which was excellent! Tender, perfectly prepared filet, and enough seafood to satisfy. The hollandaise sauce overall added deliciously to both the surf and the turf. Others in the party had the fish and chips special, which both looked fabulous and was very much enjoyed by my foodie friends. We've been here for brunch in the past, and it is one of the best brunches around! I'm not a big biscuits and gravy person, but their biscuits are so good, and the gravy is real down home sausage gravy. I could write a whole book on their desserts. From the giant cinnamon roll to the caramel pretzel tort, every dessert I've had from Norm's is a little bit of heaven in my mouth! Just got home from Norm's. Everything from the ice tea to the dessert was on point. I love the way they dice the tomatoes for the salad so you get some in every bite. My wife had the Chicken Parmesan and loved it. I had a perfectly cooked Ribeye, it came with a delicious stuffed fresh Jalapeño. Our server, Loren was attentive without bugging us & the ambiance was upscale and still felt homey. Had a great vibe, active but not loud. Opening night at Norm's was slammed we did try some delicious food and it actually took longer then we expected but understandable for the opening night. All the meats seem to be of good quality my Burger was cooked correctly and tasted fresh. The lamb was authentic but not overwhelming. The citrus vanilla sugar cookies were delicious. read more

Amazing food and service! It's a local farm to table restaurant with responsibly raised meats and local produce, which means the prices will be higher. Personally, I would rather pay more for higher quality, local, fresh ingredients. The owner makes the baked goods in house- including the pretzel buns, cookies, and the pretzels (picture attached). Even the beer cheese and dipped sauces for the pretzels were homemade. We were very impressed with the amount of care that went into making our food, especially because the place was packed on opening night. The taco tortillas even tasted homemade, down to the pickled onions on top. Of course, a new business has kinks to figure out (like running out of certain dishes, fine-tuning some dishes), but that stuff will happen when most of the menu is homemade- breads take time to rise! Burger was good (ate it too quickly to get a picture). Ended the meal with a chocolate chip cookie, which was excellent. I'm so thankful to have this place in Palo Cedro. I'm looking forward to trying the brunch next weekend with friends- I've missed the Down the Road cinnamon roll in my life! read more

*Got here Sunday morning and expected for it to be somewhat busy but did not expect to have to wait 40 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes for food when there was only a small couple ahead of us. *I've heard great things about Norms and thought it would be worth the 30 minute drive from West Redding but upon receiving our food, it became apparent that it wasn't worth the Drive, wait times, or the price. *They charged us 12$ for a "large press" coffee which was merely French pressed Folgers and gave us only a Single serving of cream for 2 people, which wouldn't be bad if we hadn't ordered coffee for 2-3 servings/ person. *Also, while the Biscuits themselves were nice, the Gravy Was watery and had the consistency of vomit. *The "country potatoes" were also soaked in oil and overcooked to a gooey almost slimy consistency, while the 2 over easy eggs I received had the same exact taste as the Potatoes~ starchy and equally slathered in oil. * They also delivered my girlfriends chorizo burrito equally drenched in oil and it made her feel extremely ill after eating it. All of these issues only to have to pay 40-some odd dollars for food that I couldn't even feel comfortable giving to a homeless person was pretty disappointing and honestly feel this establishment needs some serious Restructuring. read more
