My family and I love to come her every now and again, the service is always well and orders are often quicker than they say (we tend to call in to make sure). Well, this is a restaurant you don't see everyday! This Mexican named restaurant serves, Mexican as well as CHINESE food! Besides that they serve fast food American Breakfast and even burgers and fries! WOW! It's sort of more a fast food to go place. No gourmet Chinese foods or fancy Mexican restaurant food like deep fried whole Tipalia or anything. But they do have burritos and chimichangas as well as chow mein and pot stickers. I went with a beef super burrito ($11.25) and it tasted like a burrito should taste and was served hot. I think I might be a little more confident of the Mexican food over the Chinese offerings, but I may be proved wrong on my next trip. This is a very enticing place to stop as it's a drive through, they serve Mexican food, and they have Chinese food! Mind Blown!!! I had to stop in to try. It was very easy to access from the 44 .The drive through is a separate lane than Dutch Bros (they are literally next to each outlet) or you can park your car and walk up to order. Here's my review if the foods: Super Chicken burrito - 8 - Full of shredded chicken but could use more produce. Be careful with the red sauce, it's hot!!! crispy tacos - 9 - Fantastically seasoned ground beef but desperately needs more lettuce. Reminds me of how Taco Bell was in the 80s. Soft taco carne asada - 6 - Corn tortilla fell apart so I would advise choosing flour. The carne asada was decently seasoned. Good amount of onions and cilantro. Japanese potstickers - 9 - Surprisingly crispy from a drive thru. The sauce comes in little packets so you have to use a dish at home to house the dip. Chicken enchiladas with green sauce and sour cream a la carte - 10 - These are the best chicken enchiladas I e had from a drive through. Moist tortillas (I know, I shouldn't ever use the word moist) loaded with chicken and covered with green sauce. With the added sour cream, they covered the entire dish This is how it's done y'all! While this isn't authentic Mexican cuisine or even classical tacqueria, it is very good. This is the best drive through Mexican I've seen in Redding. read more

This was the first restaurant I had seen since I decided I was hungry several hours earlier. The food reminded me of a slightly upscale Taco Bell and that isn't really a bad thing. I stopped in this little Mom and Pop place because the owners agreed to host a school food raiser for the local high school band. I love how this place has so many different types of food available that you can literally find anything to suit everyone in the family. My son had the Japanese Pot Stickers and loved them. They were served with various sauces, but are so flavorful they truly don't need the sauce. I had the chili verde plate, and I have to tell you that the pork is cooked just right and is topped we with a delicious tomatillo sauce and the rice is cooked perfectly. Well Papi's really knocked it out of the park today!!! I got the California Burrito, wife got a Beijing Box, and my kid got the hamburger and fries. The California Burrito is about as good of a burrito you are going to get. Has everything you could possibly want in a burrito, and cooked to protection. Plus, Papi's now has a hot sauce bar with pickled peppers and carrots. Love them things. The real winner was my wife. She normally gets a Buddha Bowl from Wilda, and was very skeptical about her Beijing Box. She grumped and complained a little, saying there is no way it could be like the Buddha Bowl. You know what!!! She was right!!! It was way better. She was amazed that a little place like Papi's could slam more flavor into a little box then anywhere else we have been :) She had to stop herself from eating the whole thing. I am a huge fan of their Almond Chicken Salad! The first time I ordered the salad was about 1.5 years ago, and I had been dreaming of returning to Papi's Taqueria for the salad again. Fortunately, I'm visiting Redding for a week, and I've been able to eat the salad every day this week! The salad is fresh, crunchy, and topped with grilled chicken and toasted almonds. The best part is the mildly sweet dressing that brings the whole dish together. I could eat this everyday! My boyfriend loves the Short Ribs. It's made fresh in the kitchen and reminds us of food at home. The Potstickers and Spring Rolls are great appetizers too. We're also big fans of the English Muffins. We ordered them in the morning at the drive-through because the breakfast sandwiches were easy to eat on the go. The drive-thru was also convenient and quick. The times that we've eaten in the restaurant, the service was quick, and the staff were very friendly. We watched from the window as car after car came through the drive-through. No matter how busy the drive-through became, the staff were able to efficiently balance between customers in the drive-through and in the restaurant. I noticed in a previous review that the crunchy tacos lacked tomatoes. When I had the crunchy tacos as shown in the pictures, they clearly had tomatoes. They were pretty good, but my favorite dish is still the Almond Chicken Salad. read more

Fantastic restaurant! I wasn't always a fan of papi's, but it recently came under new ownership. The food is fantastic, and the owner is very sweet, treats you just like family. One of the things I like is the menu has a bit of everything now also, Mexican, Asian, American, they even have their own take of the Buddha bowels which have been popular lately, I hear theirs is better then the competition. Now some might not care for a Mexican restaurant that serves everything. But look at it more like an upscale Jack in the Box, which isn't a bad thing for some quick munches. And I definitely didn't feel like I was going to die after eating here like I do Jack in the Box. For some quick, tasty food give Papi's a try. I'll be getting the Buddha Bowel some time soon and I'll update my opinion on that. read more

The name is very deceiving. I feel like a better name would be papi's fast food tacos. This is more like jack in the box tacos than street tacos from a taqueria. I have been hearing a lot of great things about this place but kept forgetting about it and had always bought something in redding before heading up to shingletown. I will not be making that mistake anymore, as this place is delicious. I had the chile Verde plate, so it came with beans, rice, and tortillas. The plate was $7.99 and well worth it. It was extremely flavorful without being too spicey either. The wait time was almost not existent, service was excellent, and the food will keep me coming back. Really want to like this place,not many food spots in pc to eat at.they have great hours but thats about it. We ordered a chicken quesadilla,nacho supreme,hamburger& won ton soup. The quesadilla was bland&didnt come with any salsa or sour cream or anything to dip it in.the nachos were the worst,was a pile of chips with hardly any cheese at all&very little meat&toppings, was still hungry after eating it.hamburger was just all right not terrible but nothin great. The won ton soup was ok but salty& i love sesame oil but the only flavor i could taste in the soup was sesame oil, waaaay too much. And the food is definitely pricey.weve gave this spot numerous tries,but just cant do it anymore :( I dont mind paying higher prices for food,but i do expect it to be somewhat good.at least decent. I went up to redding with my boyfriend a couple of months ago. I was craving for some Mexican food and we happened to come across this cute little joint. The chile verde was amazing! Surprisingly they also had Chinese styled food! I wasn't expecting fusion styled food from the appearance but I must say the Peking box was also pretty yummy! Also the Almond salad was delicious and not to mention really healthy! I was very impressed by this restaurant! Oh and before I forget, the owner is the sweetest lady ever!
