What I really want to do with this review is share with those who are more like me, who have never even considered something like energy work. Those who have perhaps even maligned it and thought "well, that is nonsense." Logic and analysis were more than a simple cornerstone of my life they have always been the utter foundation. So much so that I am a theoretical mathematician, so logic is how I support my family as well. In November of 2022 I was heading back to the second day of a 2-week solo beach trip from the funeral of my sister-in-law of almost 40 years, after her unexpected death. I was so weary from many "set-backs" including my own cancer and the death of a niece both in 2017. I have always been one who claimed, I can't meditate. On the drive from Charlotte back to IOP, I quite suddenly had the thought, "I am going to find someone who can help me try reiki and learn to meditate on this trip." The next morning, I typed it into Google and without reading much under each listing I simply picked the listing my intuition led me to choose. There was a short "contact us" form on which I only said something like "I am trying to learn to meditate but seem to struggle following some big events in my life such as cancer." I heard back fairly quickly and was astounded when Romain replied, "I think you might struggle with meditating at this point and likely need to consider some energy work first." I was astounded because he was so very right but how could he know that from the little I said? I saw Romain that day and for the remaining 9 weekdays of my trip. It was the beginning of what has been a life changing evolution. I made 5 trips, as opposed to my usual 2, to IOP in 2023 so that I could work with Romain in person. We were also connecting on Zoom most weeks while I was at home. For me the "job" was huge so the time commitment was necessary. I have "only" been to IOP 2 times so far in 2024. I won't bore you with the details but I can say I am, perhaps for the first time in my 59 years, at peace. Not every second of every day but there is a new foundation of my life and peace is a big part of it. It has been my experience that there is no greater gift you can give yourself than to take advantage of the amazing opportunity to work with Romain. Manila or Moscow, Sydney or Singapore, Amsterdam or Austin - I've experienced many methods and modalities around the world. By no means does this make me an expert, but I do like to imagine that I've become reasonably discerning about what's good and what's not. I've had horrible and great massages, and my "best" and "worst" have a big range between them. Ironically, I have lived near Bella Healing Therapy for years before finally giving them a call and going in for a session. Do you know how, when a doctor asks you "how bad does it hurt, from 1 to 10," you think about the worst pain you've ever felt in order to quantify your "10"? Your own personal ten has probably been reset a few times (not too many, I hope) as you experience more things. If you've had more than a few massages, you can probably come up with a similar scale - "how good was your massage, from 1 to 10?" - to rate those experiences. After visiting Bella Healing Therapy, my previous 1-to-10 massage scale has been compressed down to about a 1-to-7. My recent session with Sam at Bella Healing Therapy redefined my 10. It was such a great session that I feel like I want to track down the last 20+ years of massage therapists, bring them all to visit Sam, and tell them "see, now THIS is how it's supposed to be." After my first visit I booked a session with Sam for my wife within just a few days (she LOVED it), and a return visit for myself just a few days after that to see if it was really as amazing as I remembered (it was). I'll certainly be going back, and I've started evangelizing Bella Healing Therapy to folks I know who could really benefit from a good massage. The booking process couldn't be simpler - it's all online and quite straightforward. Canceling and rescheduling is just as simple. Parking is scarce - I've parked in the street, at metered spots, for my visits - but for only a few bucks at a meter, that's not really an issue. Don't expect any big signage; you're not going to drive past it and think "oh, look, massage! I should check them out"- you need to know it's there (but if you're reading this review, that's not an issue either). If you have any trouble finding the place, persevere - it's worth it. Sam has been my therapist for both of my visits so far, although I'll soon book with Kat - I must assume that Sam would only hire someone equally amazing. As far as the actual massage, it was unlike anything I've previously experienced. Sam seemed to seamlessly blend multiple modalities, adjusting her technique and her areas of emphasis almost instinctively and demonstrating an apparent keen understanding of the body's structural and muscular system. She reveals, in her touch and her demeanor, what feels like genuine caring for her clients, rather than a disinterested and mechanical muscular manipulation. Truly, "healing" and "therapy" are both well-chosen words for the name of this business, as Sam brings both of these things in abundance. 10/10, highly recommended, will return.

So when we spotted this place while driving to one of the plantation tours we crossed our fingers for an appointment, and called to see if they had any availability for later that day. Given we would be on the tour, I left a message and asked if they could text me. They did! And they even pushed back our appt when I realized we would be late! GREAT. Amazing service!! When I went in for the appointment I told the therapist, Ricardo, that I didn't want to remove my clothes. (It was a 30min appt, I was feeling a little cold coming on, I was in a new place with a male therapist, .... I just didn't want to take off my clothes) I explained that basically I wanted a chair massage, but didn't want to sit in the chair for 30min. So-- do whatever, I'm not picky! I was in a short, sleeveless dress. Plenty of skin to get at. And pressure can be applied with clothes on.Therapists do this in malls /all/ the time... Ricardo got confrontational and made me feel so shamed. He asked "well what am I supposed to do?" He laughed at me. I explained, "again, a chair massage but laying down." Again he laughed in a really condescending way. "So basically you just want a chair massage." "Yes" "Well, I don't think you really know what you want. I don't know how to tell you what you want... Have you ever even HAD a massage?!" After about 5min of this exchange I realized I was being bullied, which was SO WEIRD and inappropriate. Never experienced anything like it. I just told him he could work on my husband first, and my husband should be able to explain how to give a massage with clothes on better than I can. After I sat in the living room I realized how humiliated I felt, and how RIDICULOUS it is that you should be bullied into taking off your clothes. He's supposedly a professional, I'm paying- end of story! I didn't want his creepy hands on me so we left. My husband hadn't realized what went on and was furious to find out when I told him. He told me anyway that Ricardo wasn't that good, and also he had a lot of arm hair which felt weird. So, I'm sure this place is great. Just don't see Ricardo if you expect to be treated with respect or have a professional exchange. Tip on location: I was worried we were going into the wrong place-- it's in the chiropractor office that looks like a house. Also, since it is a small, old house, sound travels, and the floor is creaky. Adds some charm, but if it's just you and 1 therapist after hours you might feel a little self-conscious. Super cute kids art on the walls. PS on their website it says that Ricardo "worked in the mental health field for twelve years, and this background shows through in his deep compassion and empathy for each of his clients." WUHHHH.
