When you do finally speak with an employee they basically say it's the resident (family member) causing any or all issues that may arise. There is ZERO accountability on the facilities end. The finger is pointed at the resident for many different reasons, some may be concerning but then again, those go without being addressed as well. Favoritism runs high. Be careful your mother or father may be the nurse or the activities directors favorite today but tomorrow the communication may suddenly be cut off , leaving your loved one to wonder what they did wrong. Emails, phone calls, text messages go days sometimes weeks unanswered. In my case not at all from the resident services director when we were in the process of moving my mother. December 17th I left a message. To this day I have not received a return phone call. How is that acceptable. Don't bother calling the CEO. His assistant is his assistant. My phone call was not taken seriously and the return message was as if nothing had been talked about. So disappointing. They will defend whatever they see fit when it comes to staff. To me, anything that concerns me about my mother, I should be able to get a prompt answer and in my opinion the place that is in charge of her daily care, should show a little more compassion and empathy and urgency to have addressed those concerns.. You will not get that here. All of this comes from the top and is a domino effect as to how things are run. They follow their lead and it's obvious that the concern is just not there. Like I mentioned, Unless your loved one is favored and or well liked. Otherwise the care is subpar. If your loved one is difficult like mine, expect the blame for any issues to be shifted in that direction. Assumption does not and will not take responsibility for any mistakes or mishaps that may occur on their end. This is everywhere at Assumption. Somehow my 86 years old mother was able to hide and hoard medications. 2 bottles full of pills. I believe that shows serious lack of care and is potentially very dangerous. The corporate office ignored this subject as if I had made it up. NO follow up, no follow through on this subject at all. Ignored completely. Reception is rude, The website still has the mothers day greeting from 2020, why??? There are no activities going on. Communication is lacking greatly and we moved my mom out in December and were left with a very bad taste in our mouths. I could go on and on but I think you get the gist. I would not recommend Assumption village to anyone looking for a new home and needing to be cared for by someone else. Please take the time to do your research before signing a contract here. Moving a loved one into a facility is a very big decision that should not betaken lightly and needs to be researched, If you are looking for somewhere they will be treated well and you as a family member will feel in the loop as to what is going on, this is not the place for your mother or father. I hope to not require many more amazon packages during my stay here--I needed some essentials... that is to say, they do provide essentials but I needed some things to improve the quality of my visit. Being here a few days, I have gotten to know a few staff members, and a few nurses and CNA have stood out among the rest making me feel more welcome. It has been an unsettling process but acclimation is going well-- I will add the therapy staff is excellent which is the only reason I am here. The food manager is caring checking in, seeing to my dietary needs (I prefer intermittent fasting, skipping lunch) and they maintain a consistent schedule. I shall even venture to say they stay away the finished food tray at a reasonable time. I will leave with some minor criticism however: at admission there was a personalized care form that has not yet been reviewed by staff in regards to personal preferences. It is a mere oversite that led to a weekend with an incompatible roommate who raised some pressing health concerns sharing a room with a very sick man who I hope feels better soon!

Unfortunately there is significant delay in initiating proper treatment, such as antibiotics, etc. In addition, treatment managers to not contact family members routinely nor do they give details of care, planning, testing, etc. prior to the group sit down. In some cases this can be a real challenge for the patient, who may need better communication due to hearing, visual limits etc. After release, we inquired about some dates of care via telephone x 3 to the care specialist, with No response. While at Village Rehab, my husband complained about the food, did not eat, and lost weight. So I tasted the "soup"....he was right. After returning home he has regained some weight and pursues regular meals, so it was not his illness.

The last executive director who was fired had no etiquette whatsoever and became very narcissistic when I set boundaries with her and the facility. Little did she and the staff know, when I was being vetted I received a copy of the court visitor report and to my surprise, Arcadia threw me under the bus stating I was not fit to be a guardian because I was an actor, see attached picture. If this is not enough to go here, continue reading the shit show that is Arcadia. This place lacks professionalism, accountability, and respect. The new executive director is the same as the last executive director -- gaslights, claims to never hear what you are saying and makes you question if you are really in the right for not wanting your loved one or yourself to live here -- no you are not crazy, a narcissistic soul is to not be messed with. With a narcissist, 5 + 5 = 2 to them and you know it's 10 but they will find a way to argue their way through their truth lie. During the time my father was here, he went to the ER three times, one of which was an ICU visit. The executive director then wrote to me that how could I think that's a lot of time to be at the hospital when the whole point of moving my father to a care facility was to keep him out of the hospital and instead he went and the ICU visit he had pneumonia and was on a ventilator and all times he had a UTI with the main issues he was in the hospital for. The level of inadequacy in this facility especially from the two executive directors is beyond dark and the facility is to not be trusted. The last ER visit I told the social worker to move him to the new care facility that was better suited for my father's needs and instead she worked with Arcadia and like the last times, I was blown smoke and mirrors. After this visit I called to speak to the in house social worker and asked if he was brushing his teeth and taking showers and she said no and then Jose Garcia told me I heard no such thing. The weird part is that after the social worker Candy told me of this who had a nurse with her when this conversation took place, she was let go immediately -- wrongful termination is illegal. I have every right to know what was happening with my father and Arcadia wanted to never provide accurate information until I got resources to find out they were lying right through their teeth. When it came down to moving my father, they did not help with discharge, made the process extremely difficult and continued to harass me about my decision. They then said my dad owed for 30 days for a notice I never saw the entire time I was there nor did I sign and being his guardian I'm legally supposed to be shown all documents especially when a signature is needed. Arcadia thinks they are above the law and they are learning through my experience they are not. Tammy the nurse then told me my dad owned furniture but never in anything I've signed did it ever say that the room furniture is the tenant's responsibility. Arcadia will make up rules as they go along to try and drag you through the mud in hopes you will give up to them and let dark energy win. Jose the new executive director was extremely rude to various outside medical staff trying to help me with my father and sent photos of other residents to me with my father in the photo. The social worker she worked with at Milwaukie Emergency geriatric psych was extremely disrespectful to me for getting a nurse care manager to do research into these evil souls and give me the real truth about my fathers medical chart. Google what an ARCHON is, they are Fallen angels and operate from ego and drain human life force energy, money, resources, etc. Both executive directors with the social worker at the Milwaukie psych unit are all one and karma has already sent the original executive director to her appropriate timeline. Jose, I hope the universe is kind to you because you can't avoid the time continuum and your karma is manifesting quite well. Peace and blessings, when you mess with me, you mess with my whole divine team! To tie it all together, I paid over 10k a month for my dad to not take his medication for almost two months and was then notified when it was too late sending him to the ER and then right when he came back to Arcadia he missed three sets of medicine and the executive director denied the whole thing yet I have physical proof that my information is accurate. If paying Arcadia results in multiple ER visits, missed medication, no showers, poor mouth hygiene, then I am in full legal rights to have made the emergency move for my father!

My dad is there recovering from a heart attack. No one there communicates from one shift to the…read morenext, or from one day to the next. They would not give him his pain meds as prescribed. When he complained about not being able to sleep, and how much pain he was in, the nursed would ask him the same questions that another nurse had asked him the day before. Then we got a lot of "I'll leave a note for your doctor". It seems that the note never got left because we were told that several times about my Dads pain. He would occasionally go up to 11 hours without it. It was prescribed for every 6. So I asked for a list of his medications and the times that he is given them. I have medical power of attorney, so it seems easy enough. Nope! Not here. First I asked a woman at the front desk area, who refused to give me her name, and she told me I had to find his nurse.... Well, he was nowhere around my Dad's room, so I asked his CNA, Moreno. She told me that I had to ask his nurse. Like Im supposed to wander around the care facitly looking for his nurse. So I hit his call button. 25 minutes later, I timed it, Moren, his CNA came in. "I don't need you, I need his nurse", I said. He finally came in and asked the same questions and said he'd leave the doctor a note. Unbelievable. So I tried to contact 2 people in charge of his care, Debbie and Joyce. No one answered the number I was given by his nurse Jordan, and Debbie hasn't replied to my email. It's been over a week and still no response. I am beyond pissed off about this. I would tell anyone looking for a care facility, full-time or for recovery, to pass on this one. They obviously don't care much about their patients. And, sorry this is so long. If anyone from the facility would have called me back, I would have told them all of this in such less public way. Please! Pick the next one on the list...

I stated several times that I am allergic to cucumbers, and yet they were still in every salad (I ate a lot of salad because so much of the food was inedible.) They were short staffed, so I frequently waited up to 20 minutes for a CNA, not good when the meds give you diarrhea. Most of the staff gave it their best, but not all. One night an older woman (I presume a CNA) came in, bent over my bed and shook me angrily. I was stunned, but later figured out that she thought I was the woman crying, "Help me, someone please help me," on and off all night. Still no excuse for what she did, and she should be fired for patient mistreatment. I would NEVER allow a relative of mine to be here; they don't pay enough attention to what patients need, and at least one of the actually abused me. She's been very happy there and loves all the staff who seem so kind and loving. Our favorite is Mercedes and her daughter Lana. They work really hard to provide many stimulating activities for the residents. My mom is just about to turn 98 and I feel at peace with her being at Cherrywood.

I also want to note that their meals are not expensive. Some people prefer quantity over quality. Your safest bets are the salads, avocado toast, soups, and fruit bowls. Part of my frustration with Cherrywood is that its a retirement home and the residents don't have a choice where to eat most days. At least this is true for those who can't easily travel. So the meals should be appetizing and inviting. There is a culinary director but somehow he claims to not be involved in culinary matters. I want that job. However, one would think the culinary director would offer to forward your concerns. This doesn't happen. The culinary director is NOT the chef. The chef and his staff try really hard. You usually won't find the culinary director. I don't see him helping when there is a rush, he has never greeted me or seated us where there is a line, and I assume he is usually in his office. One does see him on the family events. So he isn't totally invisible. Sounds like Cherrywood needs a culinary director who is responsible for improving the dining experience in their restaurant willing to greet guests. As stated before, Cherrywood caters to 7th Day Adventists and they are vegetarian. Their vegetarian selections are hopefully getting better. They were not really good before. The worst meal I had there was at the last Thanksgiving. That veggie meal included two slices of fake turkey. Think bologna or spam for Thanksgiving. As a comparison one of their competitors offers a nice salmon dinner every day as an option. Cherrywood offers this maybe once a week. Just saying other retirement homes offer better food services. I hope things get better.
