Glenmoore is just what their name implies. Gracious! They have been so welcoming from the beginning. Both Managers and Residents. Her studio apartment is clean and comfy and she has a nice size deck for patio furniture and flowers. Housekeeping does a good job coming once a week. Her apartment is always clean when I visit. I have had many meals with my mom and the food is delicious and the choices are many. I can't think of 1 diet that would not be accommodated. She has access to food at any time of the day. They have many activities, but the most important one for my mom are the fitness classes. My mom also enjoys the onsite Beauty Salon. There are so many more amenities to list, but i am running out of space to type. I also like that this is a smaller community that does not have a hotel feeling. It is charming. In closing, I wish we had moved her sooner.

She complained about a few things over the course of her stay however, we eventually moved her to a home in Washington to be closer to my mom and she ended complaining that she missed glenmoore and her friends she made there. The glenmoore residents reached out to her often after her move including attending her funeral. I can't %100 say that I think this is the best place, however I do know my grandmother enjoyed some of her last fond memories here, including the lady who made things and brought them to sell, the hat tea party, the ugly Christmas sweater context the soft serve machine, and the games the residents would play together. Thanks for making this a memorable place for my grandmothers last few years.

After visiting Monterey Court I made the decision to place Mom there. 2 1/2 years later when my mom passed away the nurse would not leave her room until she passed over. The activities director at the time Heath, got his guitar and sang for her amazing grace. This is a top notch facility and the staff are absolutely phenomenal. The director Amy is extremely caring and loving and works well with the family. Again this is a number 1 A+ + + + + + facility and very secure for your loved one.

This lady was grumpy and it looked like she already put on her overtime. Maybe she did! But that was strike 1. The ladies in my team (1st meeting with them all) were cordial and polite, so nothing much to write about them, but I did met a new friend, or should I say an old friend . . . . so I have someone to sit & converse with. Here comes the manager of the food & beverage department, serving us. She smiled, when talking with us, but she wasn't smiling when she walked away. I don't expect someone to smile all day, like 100%, I don't. . . but the kind of reaction I was reading was . . . . her staff aren't there because of cut-backs. That kind of smile, so she's putting more hours. Probably another reason why the reception was 'grumpy? The manager, did gave me the drink I asked for, so that's a bonus. Now comes the food. There are many selections there to choose from. The oil & vinegar dressing was very, very thick. What makes oil & vinegar thick? Beats me! Cornstarch? Flour? Glue? LOL If I wanted thick dressing on my salad, I would have chosen Ranch or Thousand Island, maybe Blue Cheese? I was hungry, so I have no choice but eat all that I picked, plus a small slice of chocolate cake. Yum! One lady had very little on her plate, my rooster could eat that, and she's got good control if she was trying to lose weight. Or it was just not appealing to her. But why would anyone pay $9 for a buffet, if you're gonna eat like a rooster. My new friend tried their soup, she said it was VERY hot, but good. OK, now it's raining so hard. So I stayed a bit longer, but eventually I have to walk out back where I parked my car, but I don't like getting wet, not even for a spit. I asked the lady @ the front desk, if there was a back exit, and again, she was grumpy @ me, no smile, and the tone of her voice just shows she's now getting mad @ me. I also met up with the food & beverage manager, again . . . . and she pointed me where the bathroom was, but still no smile, like she had a lot in her mind. Was her job hanging by a thread, and overworked like all the rest of us? What ever the reasons, THEIR EMPLOYEES just doesn't have the hospitality one gets when they walk inside a room. UPDATE: I did an event here, and I can tell you how the people who lives here behaved, including their employees. SOMEONE must have read my 1st paragraph, because they now have a very friendly GREETER working behind the reception desk! Thanks for that! They are like a large family, they are helpful, friendly, and they have many people who are residents volunteer - getting more involved than other retirement facilities I've visited. They have activities to get them more involved, and as volunteers, you are part the 'community'. It's not like, you go out to have a meal, then go back to your room. Their gift shop are run by volunteers. Because of my observations, I will add another star!

I also want to note that their meals are not expensive. Some people prefer quantity over quality. Your safest bets are the salads, avocado toast, soups, and fruit bowls. Part of my frustration with Cherrywood is that its a retirement home and the residents don't have a choice where to eat most days. At least this is true for those who can't easily travel. So the meals should be appetizing and inviting. There is a culinary director but somehow he claims to not be involved in culinary matters. I want that job. However, one would think the culinary director would offer to forward your concerns. This doesn't happen. The culinary director is NOT the chef. The chef and his staff try really hard. You usually won't find the culinary director. I don't see him helping when there is a rush, he has never greeted me or seated us where there is a line, and I assume he is usually in his office. One does see him on the family events. So he isn't totally invisible. Sounds like Cherrywood needs a culinary director who is responsible for improving the dining experience in their restaurant willing to greet guests. As stated before, Cherrywood caters to 7th Day Adventists and they are vegetarian. Their vegetarian selections are hopefully getting better. They were not really good before. The worst meal I had there was at the last Thanksgiving. That veggie meal included two slices of fake turkey. Think bologna or spam for Thanksgiving. As a comparison one of their competitors offers a nice salmon dinner every day as an option. Cherrywood offers this maybe once a week. Just saying other retirement homes offer better food services. I hope things get better.

When you do finally speak with an employee they basically say it's the resident (family member) causing any or all issues that may arise. There is ZERO accountability on the facilities end. The finger is pointed at the resident for many different reasons, some may be concerning but then again, those go without being addressed as well. Favoritism runs high. Be careful your mother or father may be the nurse or the activities directors favorite today but tomorrow the communication may suddenly be cut off , leaving your loved one to wonder what they did wrong. Emails, phone calls, text messages go days sometimes weeks unanswered. In my case not at all from the resident services director when we were in the process of moving my mother. December 17th I left a message. To this day I have not received a return phone call. How is that acceptable. Don't bother calling the CEO. His assistant is his assistant. My phone call was not taken seriously and the return message was as if nothing had been talked about. So disappointing. They will defend whatever they see fit when it comes to staff. To me, anything that concerns me about my mother, I should be able to get a prompt answer and in my opinion the place that is in charge of her daily care, should show a little more compassion and empathy and urgency to have addressed those concerns.. You will not get that here. All of this comes from the top and is a domino effect as to how things are run. They follow their lead and it's obvious that the concern is just not there. Like I mentioned, Unless your loved one is favored and or well liked. Otherwise the care is subpar. If your loved one is difficult like mine, expect the blame for any issues to be shifted in that direction. Assumption does not and will not take responsibility for any mistakes or mishaps that may occur on their end. This is everywhere at Assumption. Somehow my 86 years old mother was able to hide and hoard medications. 2 bottles full of pills. I believe that shows serious lack of care and is potentially very dangerous. The corporate office ignored this subject as if I had made it up. NO follow up, no follow through on this subject at all. Ignored completely. Reception is rude, The website still has the mothers day greeting from 2020, why??? There are no activities going on. Communication is lacking greatly and we moved my mom out in December and were left with a very bad taste in our mouths. I could go on and on but I think you get the gist. I would not recommend Assumption village to anyone looking for a new home and needing to be cared for by someone else. Please take the time to do your research before signing a contract here. Moving a loved one into a facility is a very big decision that should not betaken lightly and needs to be researched, If you are looking for somewhere they will be treated well and you as a family member will feel in the loop as to what is going on, this is not the place for your mother or father. My 96 year…read moreold mom, who was an absolute joy and my best friend, was a patient there recently after a fall in her home. Her health declined fairly quickly and ended up basically needing comfort care as Hospice was not available for about 3-4 days out. The staff ( All of them) were absolutely wonderful with her and myself as I was with her every day. The nurses, CNA's, physical therapy, nutrition services, housekeeping services were all so respectful and kind. A very heartfelt shoutout to Melanie and Adrienne. I could not have gone through this without their Empathy, kindness and problem solving skills. The facility itself is clean and well maintained with a homey feel as opposed to a cold sterile environment. The meals are very good as well. I would not send a family member anywhere else if needed. Highly recommend 10/10.

My dad is there recovering from a heart attack. No one there communicates from one shift to the…read morenext, or from one day to the next. They would not give him his pain meds as prescribed. When he complained about not being able to sleep, and how much pain he was in, the nursed would ask him the same questions that another nurse had asked him the day before. Then we got a lot of "I'll leave a note for your doctor". It seems that the note never got left because we were told that several times about my Dads pain. He would occasionally go up to 11 hours without it. It was prescribed for every 6. So I asked for a list of his medications and the times that he is given them. I have medical power of attorney, so it seems easy enough. Nope! Not here. First I asked a woman at the front desk area, who refused to give me her name, and she told me I had to find his nurse.... Well, he was nowhere around my Dad's room, so I asked his CNA, Moreno. She told me that I had to ask his nurse. Like Im supposed to wander around the care facitly looking for his nurse. So I hit his call button. 25 minutes later, I timed it, Moren, his CNA came in. "I don't need you, I need his nurse", I said. He finally came in and asked the same questions and said he'd leave the doctor a note. Unbelievable. So I tried to contact 2 people in charge of his care, Debbie and Joyce. No one answered the number I was given by his nurse Jordan, and Debbie hasn't replied to my email. It's been over a week and still no response. I am beyond pissed off about this. I would tell anyone looking for a care facility, full-time or for recovery, to pass on this one. They obviously don't care much about their patients. And, sorry this is so long. If anyone from the facility would have called me back, I would have told them all of this in such less public way. Please! Pick the next one on the list...
