There was some computer issues so we had to wait for over half and hour to get the car. All the cars were electric vehicle. You will also pay a 25$ fee for them to recharge the vehicle. Full charged vehicle can go about 240 miles. We pretty much only used 1/4 of charge because Juneau is only so big. Lol. Did spot a deer near by before pulling out so that was pretty cool.

Our flight into Juneau was scheduled to arrive late and then was further delayed, meaning we would arrive after Alamo had closed for the evening. Having visited Juneau before, we knew transportation options would be very limited at that hour. Since we were traveling with a baby, we were especially concerned about how we would get to our lodging. I explained our situation to Mark at Alamo, and he went above and beyond to help us. He spoke with his manager, Jacob, who graciously returned after closing time to ensure we received our rental vehicle. Both Mark and Jacob were incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely focused on helping us. Their willingness to accommodate our situation turned what could have been a very stressful experience into a smooth and positive one. We are extremely grateful for their exceptional customer service and commitment to taking care of their customers. Mark and Lucas were extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. They explained the habits and other information of the humpback whales. They were funny and engaging. We saw a group of about 8-10 whales. Mark and Lucas explained their behaviors and what to look for. Even on the trip back to the dock when they could have called it a day they continued to share information and answer questions. It melted our hearts when a little girl of about 4 came up to ask Mark a question. He knelt down on one knee and listened to her. Then he stood up and praised her for the great question and answered it. All 6 of us in our group could not say enough great things about this experience. Well done, guys!

But you know what you get that makes it worth it besides being clean and newer cars? - SOOO close to the cruise ports! most car rentals are at the airport which is easily a 25 minute drive - Answered my phone call immediately with a "hi gina!" when i couldn't figure out how to start the car (you have to hold the key fob near the start button as you push the brake and push start) - don't have to worry about gas (there was half a tank and we drove around the entire city and wasn't even close to empty) - don't have to worry about meeting the drop-off time and being fined. When I texted to extend they told me the car is mine until i head back to the ship - Came with the super cute snack bag and gift card to coffee - Came with a free car seat (they had convertibles and boosters) - Came with tickets for the tramway which we couldn't use since it was down so I have no insight as to ease of use. - More than open to providing insight into the city If you have any doubts, don't! We booked a shore excursion, through Celebrity Cruises, for the Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake…read more The driver dropped our group at the glacier and indicated she would return at noon for pickup at the same spot as drop off. We returned to the pickup spot at 11:55 and noted that the driver's name, bus number and our ship name and the pickup time of 12:00 were all still listed on the "white board" at the pickup/drop off point (drivers seemed to be erasing this information as they picked up their groups). Additionally, the same driver's next group with pickup time of 1:30 was on this board beneath our information. In the time from when we arrived at the pickup spot, until 12:40, we never saw our bus or driver at this spot. The operator insists that the driver was there and waited 10 minutes and then left. Clearly, they were there earlier than 12 and left earlier, stranding us at the glacier park. When we called the tour operator, their only solution was for us to wait another 40-60 minutes for another bus. We had already missed the salmon bake and were not interested in sitting on a bench for another hour. Luckily, we were able to get a Lyft ride back to the ship. Would not recommend booking any excursions using this tour operator as they failed to take any responsibility or provide any explanation for this situation. Celebrity was also of little help, although they "graciously" credited us with the cost of the Lyft fare.

They truly couldn't have been more accommodating or pleasant to deal with. One of the highlights was the hot breakfast delivered to our room the next morning. It arrived exactly on time--down to the minute. Not knowing what to expect, we were genuinely impressed when we opened the bag - cheesy scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, bacon and wheat toast. It turned out to be the best breakfast we had during our entire two weeks touring Alaska--which is saying something. And the fact that it was delivered right to our door made it even better. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with a very cozy bed and great pillows--always a big plus when traveling. Overall, we couldn't be more pleased with our two-night stay. I can't say enough good things about this location and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

One of the worst shipping experiences I have ever had…read more On December 17th I finally picked up a crated package in Juneau that was scheduled to arrive 11 days prior. It would have taken longer, but I was told the package--due to the holiday season--was subject to be bumped for "weeks" if not upgraded to priority. I found this odd and unprofessional--the fact that in order to receive the package I had already paid to ship, I would now need to pay a premium to see it anytime in the near future. And although, the service member I spoke to on the phone left a bad taste in my mouth due to their "take it or leave it" demeanor, I begrudgingly took it. Once the package arrived, I went to pick it up. The crate was loaded into my truck via forklift, and it was shortly after unloading that I noticed the crate and contents inside had been damaged by the/a forklift. When I went into the Alaska Air Cargo office to deal with the issue, I was told (once again in this "I could care less" attitude) that the damage was noticed when they had unloaded it from the airplane. I'm not sure why they did not mention this to me before loading the package into my vehicle, but nevertheless they said the damage MUST have occurred in Anchorage and to now sit quietly and fill out a small mountain of paperwork for my trouble. Which I did. "How long will it take to hear back on this claim?" I asked. "I don't know, a few weeks or months maybe" I was told. I followed up with emails every few weeks. Sometimes I would hear back and would be told that they were "working" on it. Sometimes I would hear nothing back. Finally, I called and got ahold of someone in March who told me that there was nothing they could do, and that I needed to talk to the person who shipped the package and have them open a new claim. Awesome. I did that very thing, but at this point, being months after the incident, was told the statute of limitations had run out and it was case closed. So here I am. With a formerly priceless 19th century dresser, shipped all the way from Japan, only to have it destroyed by a (presumably stoned) forklift driver--and not even an apology from Alaska Air Cargo. So, I guess the point of this long winded story is to say that this company is the devil and I would rather hand carry my shipments on foot, over the glacier, than give them another penny.
