I was able to take my time, relax, and actually enjoy being out in nature without feeling rushed. I explored the lakeside, mud flats, and part of the South Trail, and the views from the tower were excellent. I also saw a few different bird species and some butterflies along the way. There's also an exhibit showing a model for a new aquarium that's supposed to open in 2028, which was interesting to see. As a longtime Hollywood resident, I can't believe this was my first visit but it definitely won't be my last.

Continued to the rear of the park and found ample parking spaces near the bathroom facilities that included a bicycle repair. We took a walk to the wide lake with posted warnings not to feed or harass the crocodiles which was odd - who is actually doing the harassing or feeding? Near the lake was a war veterans memorial enclave with an honor head stone for correspondent Ernie Pyle. The area included a wooden bench to sit, relax and take in the scenic park views. PARK #86

Lion Park is a small neighborhood park with no parking. It is an open space with a walking path…read morethat connects to the southern end of Stan Goldman Memorial Park via a bridge that crosses the C-10 canal. The Lions Club of Hollywood takes care of their namesake park. The club recently collected 500 pounds of plastic from the community, other clubs, and civic organizations in a six month period and were rewarded with a recycled plastic Trex bench for the park. On December 7th the club held a ribbon cutting ceremony and tree planting to commemorate the installation of the new bench.During the ceremony the club did some landscaping to tidy up the park and the Stan Goldman Memorial park too. Although small this lovely park is worth a visit. I found parking at the nearby railway station that is next to the Stan Goldman Memorial Park. As I was crossing the bridge between the two parks I spotted 4 manatees in the canal below. I have never spotted them in a park before so I had a great experience watching them swim and eat. The bridge is also a popular location to fish.

The security alerts are posted everywhere, "Park Under Video Surveillance", "Lock Your Vehicles", "Park At Own Risk", which actually brings a heighten safety concern for me as I sip my coffee in a secluded area. No pets are permitted on nature center grounds - assume since wildlife may devour a small dog, not sure. Other signs advise pets permitted by park permit only, but does not indicate on the posts about service dogs - kind of confusing. They provide guided nature walks through the park which seems like a fun tranquil activity for people with good knees and a decent pair of binoculars. The far west side of the park provides beautiful views of the New River and small critters like crabs along the waters edge.

You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

Peter Bluesten Park was formerly City Park which was built just after the Korean War so residents…read morecould have a place to gather and play. By 1990 the park had fallen in disrepair. In 2005 City Park was changed to honor Peter Bluesten who was the founder and publisher of the Hallandale Digest. Mr. Bluesten was a WWII veteran who moved to Hallandale from New Jersey in 1946 and he founded the paper in 1963. He took the paper from a one sheet advertisement to a widely read and respected paper that chronicled the history and growth of the city. It was a hometown paper that the community relied on. Mr, Bluesten was very involved with youth sports in the city. He passed away in 1996. The park was redesigned by Craven Thompson & Associates Inc. and the remodeled 16.5 acre Peter Bluesten Park opened to the public on September 28, 2019. One of the highlights is the park's Aquatics Center which has a 25-meter by 25-yard competition style pool with eight lane short course section for high school swim competitions and recreational interactive water features. The pool was designed to meet all of the requirements for USA Swimming. The multipurpose main pool has a large learn-to-swim area, a dedicated water aerobics area, and a beach entry. Both pools are design-built concrete pools with deck level overflow gutter systems. There is also a 1,800 sq. ft water playground with an elevated play structure, which includes multiple decks, slides, rain buckets, water cannons, dancing floor jets and water curtains. Other park amenities include The Hallandale Beach YMCA, an artificial Safeshell turf soccer field, three baseball fields, concession stand, outdoor stage, playground, tennis, basketball, bankshot basketball, racquetball, walking path, and support buildings. The city uses the park for a number of events like their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Movies Under the Stars. If there is one small drawback to Peter Bluesten Park it is that it does not have a parking lot. You have to pay by app and park on the street. Other that that this is a really amazing park with something for everyone to enjoy.

In honor of one the areas most beloved residents, Hollywood Commissioners voted to rename the park after him in 1999. The park was originally named Yankee Clipper after DiMaggio's nickname but after his death his family requested the name change. It is a fitting honor for someone who gave so much to the community even lending his name for a world class children's hospital. Today you can stroll the same paths Joe DiMaggio used to enjoy. The park has a paved exercise path that runs around the perimeter of picturesque lakes. Along the way are fitness stations that use your body weight to work out. There is also a large shade covered playground for kids to enjoy. The real delight of this park are the extensive paths which are ideal for exercise like running and walking and for kids to safely ride a bike and skate on. The outer loop is .81 miles and the inner loop is .40 miles. This park is also excellent for bird watching as the lakes attract a number of species of birds. Just be sure to keep dogs away from the edge of the water. Last summer a crocodile was caught in the park before being relocated. This park is really pretty and beloved by the community just as its namesake Joe DiMaggio was.

There was plenty of parking at 12pm on the Saturday when I went, but it was a little bit of a chilly day. The beach area was beautiful and they had some picnic tables and BBQ's by the mangroves. There are lifeguard stands and plenty of sand to find a comfortable spot. There is also the broadwalk, in which people were walking, roller-blading, and riding their bikes. I had to pay $10 to park, which would be for the whole day or even just an hour. The only thing I think that could have been improved is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Beach bathrooms are never that sparkling clean, but these were smelly and looked like they haven't been looked over all day. So all in all, a great place to enjoy the beach if you can stand the smelly bathroom.
