Very clearly marked trail and not a lot of elevation changes most of the way except for the area around the arch. Gray's arch is very beautiful, fascinating how features like these are shaped by nature. After the arch area, there is a forested area with streams that is fun. Overall, the trail is not too long, has interesting sights to see and not very strenuous.

Perhaps the low cost has something to do with the way everything layout in this campground? The electric/water hook ups were on the wrong side of RV/trailer, dump station is on the opposing traffic, rain drainage was none existence as any moisture collected above are being seeping out across multiple sites below. Our site#6 was closed to the comfort station, which was a bit dated, but showers, toilets, and sinks were clean and functional. Sites here will need leveling blocks to make it right. There are also primitive sites right next to a creek running on one side and warning of flash flood on the other side. Since the entire campground just below Hwy 11, car noise could be a problem for light sleepers. OTA TV has 12 digital channels. No WiFi reception inside this valley, weak LTE/3G here but one can get free TengoInternet at picnics area and near cottages. If not for Natural Bridge formations, Red River Gorge, Nada Tunnel nearby, we wouldn't think we stay as long as we did.

The Good: decent sized camp sites, right next to hiking trails, surrounded by forests…read more The Bad: no electricity, no lighting, no showers, trails not marked for difficulty, hearing traffic from your camp site. The Rundown: this place is kind of between primitive and non primitive. You have your site marked out for you but no way to run any lighting not powered by batteries. I do like that it is a small camp ground and certain sites like ours #53 felt very secluded. Some walkway lighting, or at least lighting in the bathrooms would be nice. What I found to be best about this camp ground is that there is a trail that is connected to the property. It is the Rough Trail, #220. It's name appears deceiving because when you start out it is very easy. It is not until you reach the halfway point which is a mile and a quarter that the difficulty level skyrockets. At the end of this trail is part if the beautiful river. You can hang out down there where it is nice and cool. If you want to get to it faster, you can go to where Rough Trail, #221 begins, it is only 3/4 a mile. The Impression: the scenery is beautiful in its own way but nothing spectacular from your camp site. Without being able to look up much information on the park we came there prepared equipment wise, but expected a little more amenities. This is a place that is worth exploring a few times.

Took a weekend trip to Red River Gorge and decided to go kayaking one day. Didn't do my research on…read morethe river water levels...so my bad. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because all the employees were super nice and helpful. It'd be more of a 3 honestly. I called Sunday morning and reserved 2 kayaks for my fiancé and I, gave them my name and picked the 1pm time. Got a bit lost and called their office, told them exactly where we were and they gave us clear directions. This probably happens often lol. We ended up being about 20 mins late but parked, paid, checked in and got our life jackets and paddles quickly. Water levels are low. I repeat, water levels are low. They make it clear if this happens...once you get there. So definitely check online! If the levels aren't high enough you don't do the 7-8 miles...you go 2 miles up river and then back. With many areas where you have to get out to carry your kayak over the rocks because it's so shallow. Wear something on your feet that aren't old navy flip flops! It's much easier on the way back. But do your research and be prepared. At the turn around point there were a bunch of people hanging out at the big rock. Maybe too many for us still, but looked like a good time. We both enjoyed it and hope to be back when the levels are higher! Kudos to the friendly staff!

The customer service was terrible when we got back and explained what was wrong. The lady we spoke to said we didnt care if we were not happy. They have 3 people outside. No one inspected the kayaks even though they stated they know they have holes in them. They didnt adjust the paddles and show you how to adjust the seats. I would not recommend it. Poorest kayak trip we have ever been on.

This is not the case and I saw immediately upon arrival that even level one is high off the ground and requires climbing. Our guide was great as she took us through the training and explained how to use equipment. We all started out on section 2 because she said it seemed to be easier for people scared of heights (I'm terrified). After that five of us did section one then I did section one again while five others did section 3. Intellectually, I could tell it was an extremely safe operation. The guides are like lifeguards, constantly watching what is happening on the wall through binoculars and calling out corrections or suggestions. Still, for me, when on the wall it was hard to get over my fear of falling. It helped not to look down. My entire party was proud of ourselves for trying it and would like to come back again -- perhaps with more rest beforehand. Some of them got partway through section 4 but were tired from earlier running and weightlifting. Overall a great operation and appreciate the picnic tables on the deck where you can watch others while taking a break.

The first time was right during MDW when RRG…read morejust opened - plenty of space, likely due to the fact that folks weren't aware the Gorge was back open. The second time was in October, and definitely a different story - peak traffic around RRG with many overflow parking at popular trails. Lots of campers when we rolled in Fri night (most of them climbers). The check-in process can be a bit confusing, but I booked via HipCamp and thought it was relatively easy to figure out from there. There's running hot water, flushing toilets, and a nice kitchen with sinks and plenty of space to cook. Would return again - seems to be a reliable spot.
