We got in very late so thank goodness there was someone at the lodge to keep us on the right path to the cabin! Cute little place, two full bedrooms and baths. Fill washer and dryer and very nice sized hot tub. The cabin and its workings just need some TLC to make it a GREAT cabin to rent. The views off the deck are amazing. If it were my cabin I might take a chainsaw to a couple of the trees right off the back deck to open the grand vista there could be of the ridge. All said we're loving our time here and will be back! Seems that many/most of the other reviews on this site are for the lodge or cabins--but "Natural…read moreBridge State Resort Park" is the actual park itself so that is what my review is for. I can't speak to the cabins, but as for the lodge my review is under "Hemlock Lodge" and it's a solid 4 despite a few cons. But for the park itself--a 5, hands down. A beautiful, well maintained park full of trails from easy to difficult and each with glimpses of wonderful natural beauty such as the main trail here that leads to the natural bridge. You can hike to the top of the bridge and walk it, then trek under neath it for a view of the arches, then to several overlooks to get a glimpse of it from a distance. I'd recommend doing all of the above as each is breath-taking. This area of KY has more natural arches than any place east of Utah and that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough. There's a local business on site at the park that sells passes to ride a ski lift to the top of the resort park trail where you can then trek to the natural bridge in 15 minutes or so (max) of moderate hiking. We opted for the one way pass and hiked down--a really great hike but one that is a bit more difficult and provides opportunities to slip and fall so if you're a casual at best hiker you may prefer the roundtrip lift. It's worth doing if you're up for it though, as it's a beautiful hike. Really great park in a really great location to use as a homebase to explore all of the red river gorge area which offers a lot of other great hikes and natural beauty.

There are a few loop trails above for different views, above, below, ridge side, and even up close and personal with the fat man's squeeze down from the top. On Saturdays, a farmers market may be at the base offering local fares like breads, baked goods, honey, or even alpaca fur! The lakeside trail offers a suspension bridge, and on Saturday evenings there could be square dancing at Hoedown Island! Adjacent to the Red River Gorge, you can stay or dine at the Hemlock Lodge with a view of the pool and river below.

The view from the dining room makes you want to linger over your meal for sure. And the hiking trails lead to some epic mountain views. The staff...always helpful, always friendly. The lake... fun fishing and boating. And again, you have the views of the mountains as you ride around the lake. Pontoon rental was easy and reasonably priced. Thanksgiving dinner--they know what they're doing with this. You don't have to make a reservation, and although it's busy, you don't wait forever for a table. There was plenty of comfortable seating while we waited. The food was great-- every Thanksgiving side you could want, and friendly waitstaff. The cabins are cozy, clean, and spacious. Ours had a nice screened in porch and a deck overlooking the lovely views. If you're a state employee, make sure to let them know so that you can get that state rate. It's a great deal!

If you get a chance to check out the elevator, it's so much fun!…read moreWell...we had a ton of fun because there were trees down from the recent storm and it gave us an opportunity to be creative and make it through the obstacles. I would suggest checking out the outlook first, then find a path down the mountain and use elevator to come back up because it's a nice, steady (not steep) 2.5 mile hike back up taking that path. This park is beautiful and there are so many signs so you know which path you are on at all times. We did manage to get lost for a mile or two but that's mostly because we are wanderers haha. Do yourself a favor and download the app that was designed specifically for the park. It will help guide you in your hike!

Unbelievably comfortable, peaceful, and relaxing…read more The experience here is unlike most other cabin/B&Bs in that you will be the only guests. So if you are looking to truly unplug and wake up overlooking acres of beautiful Ohio farmland, this is the place for you. I was immediately impressed with the attention to detail and quality construction of the cabin. Since it is a relatively new build it is well-appointed with upgraded appliances throughout. The fireplace (gas) that dominates the central sitting area not only sets a comforting mood, but puts out a good amount of heat. Additionally there is a walk in tile, multi-head shower that would be at home in any five star resort. The cabin also has an oversized whirlpool tub to truly unwind in. The owner has placed locally made soaps at the tub and sink. There is a kitchenette that is really equipped like a full-sized kitchen. The large refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, and complete assortment of dishes and utensils easily facilitates meal prep. There is also a grill, picnic table, and fire pit out front. If you plan your stay correctly, you may never have to leave the cabin. Two things really stood out to me about this property: One, it is impeccably clean. Two, all the extras that are the mark of a well-run getaway. The owner left a bottle of wine and delicious tray of pastries from a local bakery out to welcome us to the cabin. The owner also stocks the bathroom area with hygiene and convenience items in the event you forget yours. If you are looking for a unique couples getaway, you have to book a weekend here.
