This is my number one go to spot for gas in all of Santa Barbara. 99% of the time it's the lowest price in town and on Sunday's they have the legendary Sunday gas sale during which, their prices drop even lower by about 20-30 cents. It's located in between the Turnpike and Fairview freeway exits. Takes a few lights to get there, but it's worth it for the prices. Its usually pretty busy on Sunday's. The longest we've had to wait is 4 minutes, but the guy who works here is enthusiastic about his job and does an excellent job directing traffic to keep the line flowing. He's the real hero. It's not the cleanest part of town, and the office inside looks a little cluttered but they keep the pumps in good shape. I stopped by for gas on Thursday (2/20/2020) night and put in $20 in pump #1. At every other self-serve station I've ever been to you can start pumping gas immediately after inserting the first bill. Not here. I kept getting a message saying "press Done." Unfortunately, not a single button was labeled Done. (See my photo.) In fact, none of the buttons are labeled. After a few minutes it spit out a receipt saying I inserted $20 and spent $0, which is correct. As instructed, I filled out the form, attached my receipt, and inserted it in the mail slot. The sign promised a response in 72 hours. However, it's been 72 hours (more if I count Sunday, which I won't) and I haven't heard a word from them. I have called their number several times today but it just rings and rings and no one answers. UPDATE 2/28/2020: Thanks to Jordan I received my refund in the mail today. So, I'm raising my rating by one star for their acknowledgement of the issue and another star for their promptness in solving it. Anyway, my suggestion to them is to either stop accepting cash and go credit/debit only (my preference since there is no attendant on duty) or at least simplify the process (for example, depositing the first bill lets you start pumping gas.) read more

Absolutely appalling customer service. I have never had a service worker be so disrespectful towards me for no reason at all. I came here to get gas and at first I parked and asked the elderly blonde woman if I could use the restroom. She asked me if I'm getting gas and I told her that I will be right after I use the restroom. Instead, she insisted on watching me get gas first before I could use the restroom and continued to stare me down while I was getting gas. I kindly declined to use the restroom inside given that I felt uncomfortable. When I was done pumping my gas, I got back in my car and sanitized my hands and opened maps on my iphone which took all but one minute. There was someone else waiting for about 20 seconds to get gas. The elderly blonde woman quickly walked up to my window and started telling me that I need to leave immediately and that I'm making people wait for me in a very rude manner. I tilted my phone screen and told her that I'm typing in my directions and that I'll be gone very soon. She turned around and yelled "I don't care" as she walking back to her folding chair. She was so unreasonably suspicious and nasty towards me. Her attitude towards me was very out of the blue and it honestly felt racially motivated. Unless this is how she treats everybody, and in that case, I'm really not sure how she has continued to be employed here. read more

After a previous horrible experience I decided to give gas station another chance. The same attendant was on duty and he definitely has a double standard for who is pulling up and getting gas. When I tried to back in an empty stall I was not allowed to while he blocked my path to allow someone else to pull in. I patiently waited at the stall he directed me to. A couple of stalls became available and some people were getting impatient. While a Caucasian gentleman was allowed to turn around and back his SUV in, I was again told I am not allowed to back in and he will not sell me any gasoline. It's a clean, inexpensive, and convenient gas station but the attendant on duty ruined it. BTW, there is still no signage and painted arrows if he insisted traffic flow in one-way only. read more

I don't like to leave bad reviews but this needs to be read lol. Horrible experience here. This happened a few months ago and I forgot to tell it until now, so here it is. So I pulled in the pump to get gas, and the "attendant" yelled at me that I entered the wrong way. I told him that that this was my first time here, and how would I know I "came in the wrong way", and why it would matter. He yelled at another person who came in who did the same thing as me. He also yelled at another older woman trying to drive in and stopped her before she did and had her drive around the block to "go in the pump the right way". He then kept arguing with me about how he works hard, everyone goes the wrong way, and nobody listens to him. He told me how he doesn't get a lunch break and works 12 hours a day. And doesn't get a break. I encouraged him that he should have a break after 5 hours. We were hoping he was having a bad day but I don't think that's the case. When I left I told him I'm never coming back. He yelled at me and shooed me off. My girlfriend and I were in shock and laughed about this experience for a while after. LOL read more

I visited this gas station while in the middle of a 3.5 hour drive. My credit card information was stolen by this gas station and has been used since then at the Wendy's across the street. I wiggled the card reader and inspected before use that a skimmer was not attached to the machine before inserting my card. I highly suspect this is internal fraud since the recurring fraud charges are at a fast food place across the driveway. Address of this business is 5755 Hollister and the Wendy's is 5724 Hollister. I'm disabled and got yelled at today for not going fast enough. Classy. I see the business owner keeps hiring the same type of people and doing nothing about her supposed "customer service standards," since reviews from 2yrs ago were already complaining about the same staff attitude. I took a whole 3min longer than I should have because I'd never used the station before and didn't realize I couldn't use a $100 bill. I followed the instructions on the pump that said to use a machine at the front that would break it. But I couldn't find it or an attendant for the life of me so I went back to my vehicle to fish out some $20s I had stashed. That's all it took. The female attendant who had been watching me the whole time - a shrill hydra around retirement age - stood at the front of my van and angrily scowled until I noticed her. I then struggled to get the pump to accept my fresh from the bank $20s that it kept rejecting while she watched and tapped her foot. I told her I was having trouble with the machine and not only did she not help me, but she admonished me for holding up the line, and walked off "I don't know what your problem is, but you need to go, however much you have in the machine is what you get." So I stopped trying to insert more money and just went to gas up. I have neurological tremors that were set off like crazy at this point, I could barely coordinate using the nozzle. Then, seeing my struggle, another customer chimed in, emboldened after seeing the attendant treat me like garbage, and gave me a lecture on being courteous. She had been waiting behind me for a pump, even though there were plenty of other spaces, but instead of going to them she had decided to sit behind me and get angry about it. I have a large van, with a tank triple the size of a regular tank, so the attendant then came back out to yell at me again for still being there. For what, taking an extra couple minutes to be your most profitable customer while my large tank kept filling? I have never had such a bad experience gasing up. I even cried after leaving, it was so stupid. I expletive hate those two women at the station, and after seeing the other long standing reviews of an owner who does nothing about her staff (if not just keeps hiring the same personality type), I'll gladly pay more, sale or not, and take my business elsewhere. This is a soulless business that deserves nothing but the worst. Don't come here. Not only will you regret it, but you'll feel dirty to boot after you leave, the couple bucks of savings you may or may not get isn't worth it by a long shot. read more

Sunday Gas Sale! These three very words are enough to get me out to Goleta, because, what a deal. I know I'm not alone when I say that 2021 gas prices aren't cheap. They seem to have been inflated everywhere I look, but that's all a result of supply and demand. I've found Fuel Depots to consistently offer lower everyday pricing than the name brands. Typically, I'd veer away from "local" stations as the quality of fuel may not necessarily be high-tiered; I've never had an issue with Fuel Depot and truly feel that their petroleum quality is in line with the best of them. Back to this particular location, though. There is an attendant on duty but the station is predominantly self-service which I don't mind one bit. The station is clean and the pumps are all in good working order. I enjoy watching the local ads on the television screens attached to each pump. The Sunday gas sale isn't typically advertised so I like to think of it as a locals' secret. You'll find that the gas here is around 10 cents per gallon cheaper (sometimes more) on Sundays only. Talk about an incentive to come out here! I happily fill up and won't have to worry about searching for the best deal - I've found it right here. If you're on a budget but don't want to cut corners, the Sunday Gas Sale at the Hollister Fuel Depot is where you should be. read more
