it was quiet and safe with close parking. it wasn't updated inside for sure and there was some plaster or drywall missing around the edges. It smelled heavily of cleaner. They also had a policy of no guests and I felt kinda like they must have had issues in the past with people sneaking in? I asked for clarification and they said to keep guests quick and quiet essentially I dunno but it made me feel pressured somewhat- might just be my anxiety. I have rented from this place a few times and each time there is some issue. This last time was the final straw. The woman at the desk.... With her kids running all around... Fighting and hollering behind the desk... Must not be able to pay the proper attention needed to check in because the last visit we check in and had to run to Dona little shopping. Come back and try to come in and relax... The desk woman won't have it. Called the phone in the room non stop first me, then my husband then me again(2 minutes apart from hangup) demanding to (again) see our ID. This was when I was trying to take a bath. The room was filthy. The carpets had obviously not been vacuumed, and there were crumbs on the surfaces and sticky substances as well. There's no way to give less then 1 star on Yelp. Do *not* stay here. I know the options at Hollister are limited, but it's not worth it. This place was a convenient stop for my buddy and I. I distinctly remember waking up early and seeing a little black dot on my bed and I thought it was a fuzzy from the covers or something (not realizing the covers weren't black) and flicked it off the bed. Throughout the day, I started developing welts all over my body that itched like crazy. When I came home that night, I immediately showered and washed all my things. I found little black dots in my luffa, which confirmed that the bugs were *on* me all day long! I went to my doctor's today, and he said that the spread, marks and symptoms looks like bed bugs. I called the management office, and they have issued me a refund for the night (after I emailed them proof of photos of my bites that are all over my body), but when I recommended that they call an exterminator and evacuate anyone that was in that room, he simply told me that he looked and there was nothing in the room. He offered to email me back photos of the room to show that there were no bugs....As if you would be able to see bed bugs/fleas or whatever they were in a picture! When I called the night I came home, and told the person on the phone to take the customer out of the room I was staying, he simply said "people stay here all the time." When I mentioned that I'm not saying the Inn as a whole, but that room since it's a safety hazard. They didn't seem to care. I repeat, do not stay here. read more

I have to say, I was VERY LEARY about staying the night here. Especially after the pics of the bed bug bitten babe. Apparently this place has been under new management and they replaced a bunch of the stuff. The A/C was a little loud, but after some time it started sounding like white noise. The TV is pretty new and the shower was decent. No mold anywhere in the bathroom either! The door is a little odd. There is no security latch, just a deadbolt. We spent Halloween night here after Warrior Dash. 3 rooms. Here is the breakdown of our experience: 1. Rooms - CLEAN! And a fridge and microwave to boot! 2. Bathrooms - the shower pressure and heat was phenomenal. After a muddy cold day at Warrior Dash, the long hot showers were AWESOME! 3. Customer service - the staff was over-the-top nice. They didn't mind that we left all our muddy clothes outside, they gave us a deal, were super friendly and accommodating. Special shout-out to Sam Jadav, the guy who took our reservations and checked us in. 4. Complimentary breakfast - hard-boiled eggs, waffle maker ... awesome. 5. Location - walkable to downtown Hollister where we partied at Johnny's, also across the street from a 24 hour diner and 24 hour McDonald's. Parking was right in front of our room, heater was great, TV had cable. For the price and the location and the customer service, this place can't be beat. A-OK!! This wasn't luxury, by any means, but the service was great, I debate on giving an extra star. The owners were very nice and accommodating. We arrived after midnight and had to wake up the son, but he was friendly, nice, and gave us each a couple of bottles of water before we sleepily stumbled to our rooms. The toilet was very loud. The first time I flushed I thought it was exploding on me and it scared my sleeping roommate right out of their slumber. But it was clean and it worked. There was a flat screen TV, microwave, mini fridge, and tiny coffee machine. The next morning, we arose for the complimentary breakfast. The grounds are not pretty. And there was some junk laying around in empty parts of the yard, but we were surprised they had hot scrambled eggs and a waffle maker to make waffles. Didn't expect that from a motel. There was also white toast, pastries, three or four types of cereal, and Sunny D. Pretty good, so we never wasted money on breakfast while were here. I was told the coffee sucked, however, so a trip to Starbucks was necessary. When we asked for shower caps to save our Renaissance braids, again, the owner (father?) was nice enough to search his store rooms and he was able to find some shower caps for us. A great deal was found on HOtels dotcom, so for $80 a night during the Renaissance faire, I thought it was a pretty good deal and I would probably do it again since the service was so nice. We searched our beds after seeing the bed bug picture, and we didn't see any, nor did any of the other people with us in the other rooms have any problem at all with bugs. read more

This place had refused to give back our deposit on our room. Claimed we smoked in the room. (We did not) Check out at 11:00 am and at 10:20 am one of the housekeeping staff knocks on the door. Asking if we are checking out. She was also aware we had 40 minutes, to go. Being as I was not "decent" and just out of the shower, my husband had answered the door.. making sure his body blocked me from view. She decided to report there was smoking. We asked the manager to please at least go inspect, (smell) the room, they refused and continued to refuse to return deposit. Horrible way to treat, until now, return guests. The recent stay on Saturday night in early October left me with over a dozen bed bug bites and a single adult sitting on my luggage in the trunk of the car. When I informed the management of this, the response was to hang up on me. I have filed a report with the Health and Human services department in the county to investigate. Once again, I only write a review when I feel the business really puts out, I am VERY lazy when it comes to these things! I travel very frequently on business and I stay at ALOT of hotels all over the Western States. I try to stay under $125.00 a night just because I am not on vacation, I am working. This place cost me $64.79 tonight, and for that price, they get the 5 stars even though this place isn't a 5 star hotel and I'm sure they know this. I have been at horrible, smelly, sleazy joints for MUCH more dough-rey-mee than this place, and left scratching from the linens. The guy at the desk..........awesome! He gave me a room right where my truck was parked on the ground floor. How did he know?? He had me checked in in less than 3 minutes. Most places for less than a hundy a night stink like smoke, have gross, slimy carpet and no hot water or pressure, this joint had none of those problems. My room was very clean, had all the amenities, incl. ref. and micro. Several places for the working traveler to eat RIGHT across the street, that is always a plus. The thing that made me go, WHOOOOOOAAA was the wifi speed, I mean you never get this kinda gusto. I need my netflix, and the speed here was about 8 times as fast as I get at home, I attached a picture of my speed test. We stayed here a few nights while enjoying Hollister Hills OHV. This place isn't luxury, but it fit our needs perfectly. All we need is a decent room and a few amenities. Fridge, microwave, wifi, cable, a/c, and water pressure all worked flawlessly. Water pressure was plentiful. Be cautious of the toilet. Man, does it flush. It'll suck, well, never mind. There was a few areas that probably needed attention, like the cracked tile and chewed gum stuck on the headboard that housekeeping missed. Free breakfast was okay. Girlfriend loved the waffles so she was happy. Maybe a cooked meat should also be served. Owner was a little disorganized. Not really prepared for breakfast. His willing to take care of us made up for it. A very pleasant guy. He treated us like family. Wait, he charged us for our room, so maybe not like family, but you know what I mean. Simple breakfast with waffles, cereal, toast, coffee, OJ. Nice Mexican, Chinese and Japanese restaurant with a McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Shakeys Pizza within easy walking distance. The new management does not deserve old one star ratings when they've obviously cleaned and renovated the Hollister Inn so much. This is a good hotel for the price. The managers, Sam and his wife, are wonderful people who delivered warm, personal service. At first we were booked at the Best Western down the road, but Expedia screwed up that reservation and there were no rooms. When you arrive at 9PM with a tired toddler and the Best Western manager is utterly unhelpful, you start to panic. We head down the road skeptical of the non-chain Hollister Inn, and Sam rearranged things to get us a very clean room, hot shower, and to my toddler's completely unreasonable excitement level - bananas on waffles. It's a two star hotel and priced correctly as that, but the service was five star. read more

When I arrived I was met with a smile and quick service. I was in my room within 5 minutes which is very important to me. Room: The telephone did not work and the towels were stained and very old. The threads were unraveling. I was unable to use them due to their look. The furniture was very nice and the chairs were very comfortable. The bed was comfortable and warm. The t.v. Stopped working and when I called the office, they arrived within 2 minutes and fixed it quickly. Breakfast: The choices were limited but then again the space was very small. The taste was good. Overall: The stained and dirty towels were a big thing for me. I was in town for a job interview, looking for a place to stay, and Yelp did not disappoint. I've stayed at a few places in this price range, and they never quite feel completely clean and/or safe. This one does, and for ~$70/nt, that alone justifies the 4 stars. There is an additional $20 pet fee, which brought my total up a little, but was completely worth it to be able to bring my dog, which I always do whenever I can. I'd made the reservation ahead, and checking in took about 2 minutes -- confirmed my ID, swiped my credit card, and handed me the receipt and key. Excellent, friendly service. They gave me a late checkout so I could come back after my interview and grab the pup, and gave me the free wifi password (it really is super fast!). I got a nonsmoking room on the ground floor, right next to where I'd parked. Another reviewer said the same thing, which could be a coincidence, but may also just be good attention to detail / service. The room was a bit older, but very clean & comfortable. Coffeemaker, microwave, and fridge were all pretty new, as was the a/c unit in the corner. If I get the gig, I know where I can stay when I come back :-) read more

I needed to stay somewhere for the night and she treated me horribly and as if I disgusted her. I was already having a bad night and she added to that. I must say as one business owner to another, Management / Ownership of this place is terrible. Our company at one time had arrangements for daily pricing for rooms. However, every time someone stayed there multiple complaints from our employees about management & the rooms them selves. I would not recommend this hotel to any one. It is not clean, they treat customers with no respect, they lie, and worse of all they have have NO credibility. If we would call from our office line they would tell us "they had no rooms available" for the night, however if you call from cell phone, they would answer and tell you they had rooms. Which would tell us that they were not willing to honor there pricing with our company. Second, when they finally "did" have a room available it was double cost of our negotiated pricing, and no reason was given as to why. Again, i don't recommend this hotel to anyone. The place was clean and fine in an efficiency manner. Room was tight, but fine for one night. We thought the envelope from housekeeping suggesting a tip was pretty tacky. The 'breakfast' that was cold cereal containers sitting in the tiny lobby hardly was worthy of a claim for breakfast. When we stayed there it was inexpensive. At this point we're so late we asked to use the queen room to get ready, and yes you guess it WE DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE WEDDING CEREMONY....I'm completely disgusted and furious. We had no room to put our thing in until 4pm. The chairs in the room are filthy, the comforter on the bed has nasty stains all over it, the sheets have cigarette burns and I can't believe anyone would stay here, I rather sleep in my car, we went straight to Walmart and bought 4 blankets. One star, because they do not allow zero stars. Yes, the Hollister Inn is affordable, and the King-sized bed was fairly comfy. Other than that, there was nothing good to recommend this place. Their sign is small, and hard to see from the street as you drive by, before making a u-turn to come back. Thew lobby is tiny, and foreshadows the "free Continental Breakfast". The rooms are small and crowded. The service is the minimum required to get you checked in. The open courtyard/parking lot of the inn encourages social gatherings of other guests, usually at 3AM, which management refuses to address even after complaints. There is little if any sound-proofing in the wall between bed and parking lot, so every loud conversation, every engine starting, and every accidentally set off car alarm wakes EVERYONE. Then there's housekeeping. In First World Complaints, there are no hand towels in the rooms. Two washcloths, two bath towels, one floor mat. They didn't empty the trash in the room on Saturday morning, but they DID empty the pocket of the pants I left in the room of $50 in cash. I repeat, they stole $50 in cash from the pocket of my pants. Not money I left on the dresser which could have been mistaken for a tip, they rooted through the pockets of the pants I had been wearing, and stole money. When alerted to the theft, the manager first denied it, then went to the housekeepers and asked if they stole it, on the assumption that under the intensity of his piercing stare the guilty party would burst into tears and confess. He, of course, reported their innocence after they withstood his seconds of interrogation, and dismissed my claim offhand. and somewhat insultingly. In short, do not stay in this affordable yet squalid pit, staffed by thieves, and managed by the incompetent. You will likely come to regret it. Clearly the issue hasn't been resolved, and because we didn't know about the website below, I now have to watch a friend in constant pain from the numerous bites. My team stayed here recently for work and we had the best time because Sam, the owner, was the nicest guy and took care of whatever we needed! Although, I connected to their internet on my phone and immediately saw that my phone was hacked and acting really weird so I disconnected. A few weeks later my cards are being used in Colorado and I'm in Los Angeles. I have my card info on my phone and had seen them randomly open on my screen. Also, I have the cards with me and haven't used them since then so I'm positive someone got the information through the hotel internet. Don't connect to the internet!!!!!!!!!!!
