It features a grand entry way framed with ivy and beautiful English gardens. I could not get over how lovely the lobby and lounge were. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Off the lobby there is a communal fridge available for use (the rooms don't have their own). It is stocked with some sodas, which was a nice option to have. Our room was small but comfortable. I adore the doors in the room- the main door features a bright stained glass window and the bathroom door is a solid and beautiful piece of wood. There were plenty of pillows and blankets provided, as well as a nice fireplace. Everything was very clean- especially in the bathroom where our 2-person jetted tub was. They provide robes to lounge in which is a nice touch. In the evening they had a wine and snack hour in the lounge. That made for a pleasant start to our evening as we enjoyed the outdoor fountain humming alongside the classical music they were playing. Breakfast the next morning was tasty and featured an array of fresh berries and fruit. The waffle was fluffy and served with syrup. We chose to eat in the communal dining room and enjoyed a good chat with another couple staying there. The inn is located pretty much in the middle of Monterey- it is walking distance to restaurants but be aware that there are hills in that area. If you choose to stay here (and you should!) dont forego a little snooping in cupboards! We found a few diary books dating back to 1997, and had a blast reading about everyone's adventures in Monterey from so many years ago.

For this area and an Ocean View room (The lovely Bay View), that price point is incredible. In full transparency, the ocean view from the Bay View room is over the rooves of the neighbors across the street but it was still lovely. And the decor of the room, Inn and lovely garden, service and daily breakfasts were all amazing. And speaking of the breakfasts, they were plentiful and absolutely delicious. We had a wonderful omelette one morning, stuffed with fresh ingredients and a side of asparagus and fruite, delicious French Toast another and a stuffed crepe the other. (The other morning we headed to our absolute favorite place on the planet for an early lunch....feel free to reach out to find out where!) I also had a fantastic 4 mile run from the Inn as it is so close to the water and they have a wonderful walking/running trail right there. Our king room was in great shape and very comfortable and efficient. We appreciated having an in-room refrigerator given the hotel has no restaurant. They do sell snacks and microwaveable refrigerated foods in the lobby where there is also a microwave available to guests. They also have a very nice coffee machine in the lobby rather than having coffeemakers in rooms. The staff was always friendly when we passed through the lobby or came down for coffee. They provided us with dining and places to see recommendations. Delivering freshly popped popcorn to our room was a nice treat and we enjoyed with wine as we watched the winter olympics at night. The Inn is a great spot to stay when visiting Moss Landing or Monterey, if you don't mind a little drive time to Monterey.

Upon arrival, the very kind man at the front desk had told me our room had been upgraded complimentary as we were celebrating a birthday that weekend. We ended up staying upstairs of the lobby in the most beautiful suite I've ever seen that even had an ocean view. The room was impeccably clean, had two TVs, a living room & a king size bed in the other room. There were two fireplaces that worked with a little timer with options ranging from 30mins to 120mins. They also gave us a free bottle of wine for the birthday we were celebrating!!! Each evening from 5-6 they offer complimentary wine tasting & cheese & crackers. The wine was delicious and it was such a fun moment in the day to take a break and just enjoy our time. The gentleman helping us out Friday & Saturday night was so kind and funny. The mornings offered a wide variety of complimentary breakfast, from sausage & egg frittatas to blueberry muffins. Everything was hot & fresh and the staff was very attentive. In my opinion, there were no downsides of staying here. The staff was so kind & thorough with everything. The parking was $17 a night but I think that's a good deal... many hotel parking situations are $20 or more. I will definitely be a repeat traveler here.

My gold status there probably was worth more than my platinum here. The service was adequate but the contrast with Marriott brand standards, and another dispute I have an inquiry into, ruined this stay, and hotel. I think the Hampton Inn probably keeps to their brand standards more. Sometimes new does not equal better folks. Let's start with the good. Food and beverage was well managed and everyone on that side of the house was kind. Some of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful others were okay. The lobby itself is beautiful, and the outdoor pool and hot tub area is amazing. The rooms are brand new and smelled it. I also liked the dimmable lights. I kept some good photos in to be fair. Now to the catastrophic failures. Upon checking I was given a second floor hotel room that I can only equate to a jail cell. There was no view, no light, and it was awful. The front desk gladly switched me which I was thankful for, but was then given a room with no view (overhang blocking below), a small window, and little light (north courtyard facing). As a Platinum Elite I did not need an upgrade but at least give me a better window or prime room. On the listing they show floor to ceiling windows however I did not even have anything close to that. The rooms are also LOUD as others have said. Some rooms face the loud lobby which is crazy and one of many design flaws. Now onto the even worse. Long story short one is in dispute (and a major issue) and I will not leave it here at the moment pending how it is handled. Service every third day is unacceptable even for select (see photo). I get by request but come on, get it together. $15 parking when there is free street parking (ample) closer than the paid parking? Also literally one entrance into the parking area and no turn around when it's fully packed? Very few trash cans around or on the property, and no dog bags for dogs (there was a station in the parking lot fully empty). Also, no automatic doors or anyone to help with doors? Who in the world designed this hotel and how did they catastrophically fail at basic design. This hotel looks great when you arrive but any design expert can see right through the chaos of this rush job with no actual thought. The location is also abysmal. There is no beach worth visiting close by. Absolutely nothing to do nearby. If you are looking to be close to Monterey or a walkable area like I mistakenly thought, do not do it. Not worth it! When I gave the hotel a chance to respond, Fady Hanna was very kind, and promised to look into them all. I appreciated Fady's offer to come back at a great rate, but I will never be back, nor will I recommend them to anyone. Fady is very kind and took genuine concern with me and for that I will say thank you, that could have made it completely terrible for the rest of my stay. At least Fady heard me. I will not be doing my traditional 10-point test for this hotel, because sadly, it failed the basics. Despite being a pretty property, the brand failures puts this in my top worst Marriott stay to date.

The proximity to lovers point beach, access to parking, proximity to other businesses within walking distance, and all the amenities make this spot one of our favorites. The breakfast every morning was delicious, wine and cheese on the afternoon and then cookies later in the day were a really great touch. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and even had a pack n play that we were able to use for our son to sleep in. My one recommendation would be to purchase a couple of high chairs as that would have been a great feature for us to use during breakfast.

They've done a great job of keeping the character of the house but also modernizing it. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Leese was at the front desk for most our stay and she was very kind and helpful. Housekeeping and the cooking staff do a great job as well. We had breakfast every morning and it was hot, fresh and provided variety each day. We stayed in Room 21, La Porte. It included a private side entrance outside the main house which was great. I think our room location was a little noisier than other rooms due to the entrance area outside the room being used by staff and some other guests. This wasn't a bad thing for us but something to note for those looking for quiet. We'll definitely come back to Pacific Grove and the Gosby will definitely be a consideration for lodging.

We were offered an upgrade from our originally booked room for a very small extra cost, we went for it. Our room was clean and everything functioned well. Upon knowing we were visiting for a birthday weekend, management had an awesome treat plate and a bottle of wine compliments of the house. Two things you must know... our room didn't not had an air conditioner which wasn't a problem for us due to the mild climate of the area. There was a box fan in the closest for our use. Also the parking can be tricky for large vehicles. This wasn't a problem for us but we saw a few people needing spotters to exit their parking spaces. Would we be back, absolutely!
