    Grayson, a grateful patient.

When Grayson became seriously ill VETSS immediately created time to see him when our original vet was unable. Dr. McKenna and Dr. Levantino were understanding, compassionate, considerate to cost and thorough. We are grateful for their referral to Dr. Michelle Purnell, Virginia Veterinary Specialists. Better service could not be had. When needed we will continue to seek their service even though we live cross town. Robert & Jennifer A.

Great experience in a difficult situation. Felt very confident in the diagnosis and the alternatives presented to consider.

The vet here was a sales lady. Totally tried to rip me off. Use greenbrier.

At Vetss she still realizes where she it and begins to pant but there's no panting and can sit next to me to be comforted.

Ive had my fills of riding all over winchester to find decent vet. although they dont allow you in to be with your pet during the exam, I very much wish they would change that, I was always welcome back home in my home state of NJ to assist with calming my cat. Never have I found a more professional vet then Dr Buchoff in NJ.... No one battled with me like certain vets did at home. . Being a RN I watch things differently then the general public. so I am very satisfied with Valley, and all my other pets (RIP) also...sadly missed.

A couple of years ago, my pet had his eye removed and a prosthetic put in. Recently, he had a terrible fall that dislodged the prosthetic, causing him intense pain and severe swelling. He was completely lethargic and not himself--it was a terrifying medical emergency, which is why we rushed him to this clinic. We arrived at 6:30 PM, gave them the rundown, and the receptionist explicitly told us we were second in line. What followed was six hours of absolute agony and disrespect. After two hours of total silence, we checked in only to be told we were "next." We then sat there until 12:00 AM--six full hours of being ignored. To make a horrible situation worse, we watched other people come in long after us with far less serious injuries and get taken straight back while my pet sat there suffering. All of this happened in a miserable environment with a broken AC unit, leaving us to sweat in a hot room, trapped in rock-hard, incredibly uncomfortable seats. When I finally realized they had no intention of actually seeing my pet and decided to leave, the woman at the front desk was incredibly nasty to me. It is completely unacceptable to leave a suffering animal in a waiting room for six hours with zero updates, only to catch an attitude when you finally break. I will never, ever bring a pet back here. Save yourself the heartbreak and go somewhere that actually cares.

We've been to many pet ERs/urgent cares in the 8 years we've lived in NoVa and this the only hospital where we spoke to a doctor within a few minutes of walking in the door. They were thorough, took time to explain our treatment/testing options and answer questions, and made us feel like Norman's care mattered even when more severe emergency cases came in. At VEG, you can see everything, stay with your pet, watch their treatment, and staff are readily available to talk to or answer questions. That alone eased so much anxiety. Kenzie, one of the nurses that was assigned to Norman, was so kind. It was clear that everyone in the room cared about making these animals feel comfortable. More than one nurse came over to introduce themselves when we were preparing to leave Norman overnight. They offered us a room where we could stay with him if we wanted, and even asked what he liked to watch on TV to create a comfortable environment for him after we let them know he suffers from separation anxiety. The discharge and follow-up notes were also incredibly detailed, which made following up with our primary vet so much easier. No one ever wants to bring their animal to an ER, but this is now the only place we will go when we need urgent medical care. A HUGE thank you to everyone at VEG Alexandria for taking such good care of our dog!

I won't go anywhere else in the area and they do have other locations, which is great. Highly recommend - especially when you are in an emergency and you want excellent care fur your fur baby. While I hope to not have to go back anymore, it's very comforting to know they are there.

I unfortunately had to take two pets to the ER on two separate occasions and the staff is compassionate and very very accommodating. I called this practice and they immediately connected me with a vet to talk through her symptoms. They suggested I bring her in just to be safe. When I arrived, I was checked in right away and even offered a drink or snack. A doctor quickly came out to make sure nothing was urgent, and after about a 20-30 minute wait we did a full exam. The team was so patient and kind--consulting with each other, keeping me with my dog the whole time, and making sure she was comfortable throughout. Thankfully it ended up being full anal glands and some irritation. They took care of it and gave me guidance on meds (which I already had on hand). Checkout was the biggest surprise: only $205, which feels incredibly reasonable for Northern Virginia. The clinic was clean, organized, and calm, and it was obvious the pets there were genuinely cared for (even the ones in cones having a rough day). For a stressful night, this place made it a really good experience.
