Dr. Young was fantastic! With the medication he administered, my cat Zac's eyes were noticeably better by that same evening. Dr. Young is not only skilled but also such a kind and witty individual. I wish I could remember the technician's name--she was so caring, gentle, and sweet with Zac. I also really appreciate that this office is open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. I needed to get my dog to the vet ASAP. I called my vet. They could get me in, but my big, fat dog wouldn't cooperate. Couldn't get her in the car. Called the mobile vet. She didn't come. Now time has passed and my dog STILL hasn't gotten care. I had no idea that there was such a thing as an urgent care for animals. Autumn Trails got her in without an appointment. Despite being packed, they worked her in and took good care of her. From the first contact with the receptionist to the last contact with the vet tech, everything was smooth, polite, and considerate. I was told the fee before anything was done, so no surprises there. When your pet is ill, you don't need added stress, and Autumn Trails made sure there was none. I have maintained him as a client for over a year, whether it was pricing, care, communication, or follow through on emergent situations, this was the worst experience I have ever had with a vet. I moved out of Charlottesville in May and Autumn Trails might be the thing I miss the most about cville!! I just called them today to get my vet records for my two cats and the phone call lightened up my entire day. The receptionist knew exactly who my cats were even months after they moved away. She told me how wonderful they are and sent over the records right away. Every staff member here cares so much about animals and makes every concern you have heard. I have boarded my cats here in addition to taking there here for vet appointments. I have a new kitten who has quickly stolen my heart. I selected Autumn Trails and went for a total of 3 visits. I understand delays. Each time I waited for 30 to 40 minutes before being seen. Funny thing, these were early morning appointments and no one except my kitty and I were in the waiting room. I met two different doctors who were both very pleasant and kind. The front desk is horrendous and very unkind. I would not recommend this Vet Office to anyone. People should learn some manners. read more

Coming in with an urgent case is high stakes for the practice, the pet, and the pet owners. Our experience was tense when we arrived, and time was of the essence when making decisions. Autumn trails are compassionate and skilled at what they do. I have brought animals in the past for care appointments but also used them twice for euthanasia services. Three days ago I had to make an emergency visit to have my dog euthanized. In the past I have brought a hamster to have the same service. They are very compassionate and patient during that process and listen to your wishes. They give you time to spend with your pet after. The first time we had to pay after which wasn't that great but this recent time they took all payment beforehand as well as arranging what we would like done with the body. When we were done saying our goodbyes to our Coco we were able to walk out without worrying about that payment. The office itself is very clean and has nice seating areas. I was sent here by my primary vet because I needed urgent care. The vet techs were very nice and had the same concerns as I did. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the vet. I came in Monday and was back Friday with even more concerns and they were completely ignored. He took blood work for something completely unrelated to my dogs injuries. He was dismissive and laughed when I had concerns. I left with even more questions which he did not have the answers for. I went to my primary vet today and they found an infection from a wound that she had initially come in with. I'm very disappointed in my experience here but can say nothing but nice things about the vet techs. read more

Autumn Trails was a godsend. After being very healthy his whole life, our beloved 15-year-old cat was diagnosed with megacolon. The front office staff were warm and gracious from the very first (frantic!) call. They were able to see us in a timely manner. The three vets who saw our cat over the past month offered superior care and several options. When we needed to put him down, the doctors and staff were compassionate and kind. (20 past my scheduled appointment) Watched another client show up 30 mins late and be taken right it. )If they would have said "we had an emergency or sorry just running behind- I would have been fine.Extremely inconsiderate of other peoples time. Side note: I am paying you correct? If I showed up 20 mins late for a patient of mine with no explanation, I wouldn't have a job.Book and schedule appropriately or pay someone who is able to do so for you. We had to take our 14 year old Corgi George, in on a Sunday when our regular vet was closed. We knew he was at his end of life and everyone at Autumn Trails was amazing. George was treated with such loving kindness as were we. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye and made all the arrangements for cremation very easy. A few days later we received a sympathy card with paper heart with flower seeds to plant in memory of George. If you want a Veterinarian that is polite, and cares about you, I would look elsewhere. Don't be fooled when Autum Trails tells you, that for your Pet's RX that can only be filled at an Online Pet Pharmacy, that "Chewy" will accept an Image of the RX from Autumn Trails. I just called CHEWY Online Pharmacy at 877-977-3...After they refused to Authorize our Dogs medicine with Pet meds, Autumn Trails said that what is better for them, is that we 1) Drive over to Autumn Trails and pick up the Written RX and 2) that we have to SNAIL MAIL IT to the 2 leading online pet pharmacies....either PETMEDS or CHEWY. When you ask Autumn Trails, they assure you that you can "Upload an Image" of your Dog's RX for Chewy/ Pet meds, and that is NOT TRUE. I just Called Chewy, and I have also heard this from PETMEDS. And the agent who answers said "No we are not allowed to Accept Electronic Images of Veterinary RXs, that would be ILLEGAL" . (It is not as if they - AT- have their own Pet pharmacy)...Autumn Trails has a new policy that they will hand you a written Script to send to your online pet pharmacy, (as in get in your car to drive to AT, pick up the scipt and then Mail to Pet meds in FL or CHEWY in KY..and sit and wait...and rely on the USPS...SNAIL MAIL) and if ALL OF THEIR CLIENTS complain about this, then AT will have to chage. They are dishonest at Autum Trails when they say that Petmeds and Chewy can receive images of their RX's from you. That is not true, because the Pet Pharmacies want to Authenticate your RX for your dog or cat. Autum Trials will not authorize your Dog or Cats medicine with Online Pharmacies! They don't Care about you, only about how much money they are making from you. Question Autumn Trails about this NEW policy about refusing to Authorize your pets medicine to them, for you to receive quickly in the mail, rather than adding in several weeks of complication, by having to PICK UP your dogs RX from AT and then SNAIL MAIL IT to FLORIDA. HOW LONG DOES THAT TAKE? Update: The situation has grown worse. Dr. Cardoza and Autumn Trail today, has probably spent more time explaining why they Can't (in the year 2023) Authorize my dog's Appoquel Script with Pet Meds, so that it could ship today. We have paid Pet meds, and instead I received a call from Pet meds, saying that my (soon to be former vet) will only allow me to drive to their office (Autumn Trails) to pick up a RX Written Script, and then I have to SNAIL MAIL IT to FLORIDA. Their staff claim that Chewy will accept an image of an RX, but that is not true, the online pharmacies want to authorize your pet meds direct with the Vet, to authenticate them. Dear Customer, Autumn Trails Vet Center requires that you supply us with a written prescription for Your Dog's APOQUEL. What should you do? You should call your veterinarian and request that the prescription be mailed directly to our pharmacy instead of you having to go to the office. Ripoff. Took my female dog in, telling them what was wrong with her, (Pyometra) 350 for tests to tell me that was what was wrong 1570 for surgery. then after everything, other 98 dollar exam fee 1946 out the door. My other dog is scheduled for a double surgery for half that cost. read more

My dog started with visits here when my old regular vet was booked solid but Autumn Trails was available, or urgent care needs (histiocytoma, tick bite) where Autumn Trails was the only option with extended hours. My dog has received prompt, quality care each time and in my experience Autumn Trails is more affordable vs. other options in town. We had to say goodbye to our dear almost 16 yr old dog last weekend. Not wanting her to suffer and wait until Monday for her normal vet (Old Dominion) we went to Autumn Trails and they were incredibly kind. Not only did each staff member take time to talk with me about the process and my dog, the vet herself got on the floor with me to discuss my dog's life. They weren't in a hurry and let me take the time I needed to say goodbye (leaving that amount of time up to me). They also gave us a paw print in clay and just mailed us plantable seed paper to start a memorial. I would recommend them to anyone going through an end of life experience with a beloved pet. read more

My usual vet was booked up and was in need of an emergency appointment. Let me tell you, they made a fantastic recommendation in Autumn Trails! I took my sweet senior kitty this morning despite the fact they were fully booked. They saw her almost immediately when I arrived and the staff was very knowledgeable, comforting, and extremely communicative. They had already gotten her files from our usual vet before we even got there! It was a very stressful process but we came to find out she was suffering from an unusual polyp in her throat. The vet worked her magic and was able to remove it despite it being quite the process. My sweet kitty is currently taking a cat nap at their facility for the afternoon to ensure she is on the upwards in recovery. It's so wonderful to know we have an urgent care facility in town. SO much quicker and likely less expensive than the emergency room. Although it's been a stressful day for my sweet girl and myself, Autumn Trails was so gracious and very comforting to us both. While I hope she never has to go to urgent care again, I can know and trust to have Autumn Trails there to help us whenever she is in need. read more

OH MAN I love this place. I brought my kitten here for a second opinion after she got a general antibiotic shot at another vet. She was still acting lethargic and having diarrhea. Being a nervous cat mom, I took her in for their advice. Dr. Courtney Jagger was SO fantastic, nice, and so clearly a huge animal lover. My kitten hid under the chair when Dr. Jagger walked in, and she got down on the floor with treats, giving my kitten plenty of time to get used to her and come out all on her own. Dr. Jagger was so gentle with my kitten during the exam and very knowledgable. She answered all my questions and sent us home with an anti-diarrhea, probiotic, and general immune booster. The other employees (Lynne and Marion) were so friendly too. It was a great experience and they will definitely be my go-to vet from here on out. read more

We went in for an exam with our dog and they literally did nothing besides ask what his diet consisted of, fed him an exorbitant amount of string cheese and cat food (as treats) and neglected to take his temperature. The only significant takeaway was him being weighed which I had to ask for. You would think going to a vet for a $100 exam would consist of the actual veterinarian to check at least something besides his heartbeat. Never again. read more

When I questioned the necessity of said treatments, they made it sound like I would be committing my dog to a death sentence & harming other dogs. I'm a student and relatively new pet owner and I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Autumn Trails. My cat was having some eye problems that I noticed the end of last week, and the Saturday hours here were a godsend. They quickly set me up with an appointment that morning, and the staff was so friendly and informative throughout the entire process. They went over options with me to help keep the costs low while still giving my cat stellar care. I was dreading going to the vet during COVID when I couldn't go inside with my kitty, but the experience here was so great that I didn't even mind. My puppy poodle Marley he swallow something rubbery from outside and couldn't pass it so we had to rush him to the emergency vet,Blood work was good.So he had surgery where the half rubbery thing was the skin was stretched and bruised she left it instead of cutting it out. he wouldn't eat & was getting worst.We rushed him back & they told me it would be fine that it was normal not to eat a couple days after. The next day we rush him back from just lying around & still not eating did blood work and everything was shutting down so they sent us to get a pain patch & he died while we were gone. They did an autopsy and found that where the skin was bruised & starched the stitches pulled away and then the acid release through his body killed my baby boy. They only took care of half of the bill.They owe me a puppy. He would have been a year old 2 days later, Merry Christmas to me read more

The worst veterinarian experience that I have ever had. Brought my cat in during off-hours because the emergency vet (Greenbrier) was backed up. My cat had eaten a rabbit and wasn't feeling well. Autumn trails vet Cullingham told me that it would cost $5k to treat my cat and that she would still have only a 50% chance of survival and recommended that I put her down. I told them to put her on an IV for a few hours and that I would return. In the meantime I was able to contact my very kind vet at home for advice. I went back to Autumn Trail paid their exorbitant prices and brought my cat home. She is eating, recovering and doing fine. I just keep thinking how this vet wanted to put her down when all she needed was an IV for an afternoon and some baby food to settle her stomach. read more

My teen daughter and I brought her dying cat here for a second opinion, mostly because they had hours until 8 pm on a Friday and were willing to squeeze us in without charging us emergency vet rates. Unfortunately, they concurred with the first vet, and we had to euthanize our sweet baby, but the staff at Autumn Trails made it a bearable experience. The receptionist, vet tech, and doctor were so kind and empathetic, and accommodated my daughter so her beloved kitty could die peacefully and pain-free in her arms. I came home from work to find my dog with a bloody and swollen sore under her ear. I immediately called my husband to tell him I was taking her to the emergency vet. He told me to call Autumn Trails as an alternative after hearing about the office from a customer. My experience at emergency vets were overall positive with exception to the crowded waiting rooms, long waits, and cost. My experience at Autumn Trails was 100% positive. My dog received treatment for her "hot spot" and I was in and out in little over an hour on a Saturday at 5PM. The staff were genuinely sweet and friendly, and I felt confident in the exam and diagnosis of the vet. I don't think the cost was too much lower than emergency vets but I had personal and quick service which made the experience that much more valuable. read more

I took my 8 year old dog here today for a broken dewclaw. Her usual vet couldn't get her in so I called around and had another vet office recommend this place since they have extended hours. I didn't realize I had to stay in the car while she was seen, so I advised that they may need to muzzle her as she is a feisty Dachshund mix and has some separation anxiety. The vet came out to my car to talk to me and let me know that the nail came right off and didn't need to be cut, but they had also cut the rest of her nails (thanks?). She then informed me that my dog has a heat murmur which is typically scaled 1-6 and hers is at a 4. She sees a regular vet every year for her well checkup and shots and I've never been made aware of a murmur. She immediately talked cardiology referral and cost involved. I was sick and stressed! We ran through the usual symptoms, of which she has none other than the murmur she heard during her examining of her in a muzzle. I told her she is due for her check up in January and she assured me it was no emergency. They finally brought her back out to me and I had to call their number in order to pay.... $75 for the initial treatment plus $20 to cut her nails. A service I didn't ask for. The staff is very friendly and although I do appreciate they were able to treat her, I'm disappointed it felt like I went for an oil change and suddenly there's some other issue....if you get my drift... read more

I selected this vet because they were conveniently located and had extended hours. When my dog became ill, I took her to them. Although the doctor was very knowledgeable and competent, there was alot of misinformation between the doctor and the staff. The staff told me one thing and the doctor the other. Unfortunately, my pet was euthanized due to her illness (nothing to do with the service at this office), the miscommunication made a bad situation worse for me. Maybe better training of staff would benefit this practice. Until then, I'll go elsewhere. read more

I have a 3 month old Boxer and he has a bladder infection, I took him her and Dr. Cadoza (spelling?) gave him meds for 2 weeks and we went home, 2 weeks later we went back and w/ no results got new medication, 2 pills once a day for a week, after that week and no results went back with a urine sample and he is WORSE w/ crystals in his urine, she told me " well I GUESSED on the last 2 medications, so lets maybe try something else" GUESSED does NOT work for me... now they want him on more meds and different dog food..... 0/5. Went based on a referral from greenbriar that they could send out a test greenbriar couldn't. Vet recommended 3 xrays and in house blood work at DOUBLE the price of greenbriar, but refused to run the test I went to them for. When I refused to pay their outlandish rates for services available for less than half the price, the vet HUNG UP ON ME WITHOUT ANSWERING THE REST OF MY QUESTIONS. When the tech returned my dog to me the tech yanked my dog around on the leash, then LIED TO MY FACE as if I hadn't just watched her rip my poor (small, old, sick) dog around by her neck! Further; the tech was just as condescending as the vet who thinks she shouldn't have to explain why their prices are double the actual emergency vet across the street, and triple every regular vet practice in town. If you want to take your pet to a vet who cares about your animal, take your pet elsewhere. 3 xrays and a blood panel should not cost $1200+ and under NO circumstances should personal feelings of staff be taken out on anyone's pet like they were on mine today. Steer clear-- this vet is in practice for the money. One of their techs abused my dog in front of me then tried to gaslight me telling me they hadn't done what I saw. read more

I took my 3 yr old pittie to Autumn Trails on 1/14/17. He had been having trouble keeping his right eye open and it was very obviously irritated. The staff was so kind and patient with my very nervous boy and he is now resting comfortably at home. They figured out what was wrong and prescribed meds for him quickly! My cat had a sizeable laceration on her leg and our normal vet was unable to fit her in. I was able to bring her over to Autumn Trails and they stitched her up without much delay. When I brought her back to have the stitches removed it was very quick as well. All is well thanks to this vet clinic. If it were closer to my home, they would probably become our regular vet. read more
