Man it's so difficult to have to take your pet to an ER but if you're able to stay with your pet during the entire experience, it's well worth it. 10 stars! I'm a helicopter dog mom, and when my dog started having an issue with her backside, I panicked a little. I called this practice and they immediately connected me with a vet to talk through her symptoms. They suggested I bring her in just to be safe. When I arrived, I was checked in right away and even offered a drink or snack. A doctor quickly came out to make sure nothing was urgent, and after about a 20-30 minute wait we did a full exam. The team was so patient and kind--consulting with each other, keeping me with my dog the whole time, and making sure she was comfortable throughout. Thankfully it ended up being full anal glands and some irritation. They took care of it and gave me guidance on meds (which I already had on hand). Checkout was the biggest surprise: only $205, which feels incredibly reasonable for Northern Virginia. The clinic was clean, organized, and calm, and it was obvious the pets there were genuinely cared for (even the ones in cones having a rough day). This was the best experience we've had in regards to animal hospitals. Our poor dog was vomiting blood and had bloody diarrhea. We had taken him somewhere else prior but had a bad experience when we took him back. That bad experience at another hospital brought us to this location. Within six hours, they were able to do various testing, diagnosis him as well as admit him for the night and a second night. The doctors here are absolutely wonderful and allowed us to come and go as we pleased. My husband ended up staying with him for 2 nights and they were able to give us a room to hangout in. Those that we are most grateful for in helping our fur baby get better: Dr Henein, Dr Kelly, Dr De Arnas; Nurses: Laura Katelyn, Mary and their receptionist Joshua. First off I want to say thank you to the front desk staff today ( they were so sweet and friendly). When I called in a panic because of my baby Georgie, lady on the phone said I can come asap. He got into some trash and ate something, I helped induce him to throw up because I noticed he was losing some balance and wobbling; while showing signs of alertness (looking when names called ect.) But my gut told me he ingested something and to be on the safer side I rushed him here and there was a little wait, but seeing other dogs who needed more medical attention than Georgie. I don't mind waiting in the presence of a whole vet team. In the mean time I was able to observe the staff members. Watching them actually doing their job made me feel comfortable. This place is also very open. You can see what they're doing to your dog unlike other vets. I really appreciated that new upscale professional aesthetic. Nothing to hide, they're doing their jobs to save lives and I'm sure owners are able to observe (like what I was fortunately able to do today); unlike other places where they take your dog away and say " you stay here, well be back with your dog". Georgie saw Dr.nick Pietrobono. He immediately noticed Georgie was displaying common signs for (*****) I was worried it would and could've been worse. But after he assured me he's seen this often and it'll take some time to ware off; my mind and heart felt more calm. Knowing it could've been something way worse but Georgie left after receiving fluids, and I will be keeping a close eye on Georgie but I appreciated the staff and Dr.P's direct honest answers. He also didn't push certain medications or treatments I wasn't comfortable with, which made me like him& respect him even more. His energy and spirt was very sweet too. I wish Georgie was able to get a full exam (non ER) with Dr.P in the future for a non ER fee ToT But overall, I was very satisfied with how they treated and help me with my questions for Georgie. The staff were very nice and caring and the vet soon gave me the price as they were taking my cat in, but in a very reasonable and sensible way. (Mine was over $1,800 and I'd think that would be pretty much their basic price for blood work, IV fluid, US, x-ray and stuff) My cat was too sick and that made the decision making easy. But here is why this place is so good. They could suggest some hope and possibilities and I'd have to spend a lot more money, but they were honest and caring for me and the cat. They still gave me the other option for hospitalization too, but didn't recommend it. Every step to the end they were so good to my family and my cat. Had a great experience here this week (as good as emergency vet experiences can be I suppose?). My dog was having a complete GI meltdown so we came here for some meds and fluids. The first vet I saw was kind of meh-- her approach was here are some meds k thx bye-- I had to ask a lot of questions. We ended up coming back the same day when things got worse for IV meds. The second vet was much more warm and caring. All the support staff was great on both visits. Things to note: - the parking lot is deceptively large. There is a Trader Joe's in the shopping plaza so the place was a sh*t show on a Sunday afternoon. - they don't charge a visit fee if you have to come back within 24 hrs- this was awesome. - they have an outdoor semi fenced off area so that you can take your dog potty if necessary because, again, a busy parking lot is not the place for that. - lastly, I loved that I was able to be w my dog the whole time and see what they were doing. I did not love that I saw another dog have a procedure on an open wound as I walked to my waiting area. C'est la vid! Can't have it all. read more

They've taken care of two of my dogs for multiple issues (one of them is an eater) and they've done fantastic. But this practice loses a star for the absolute nightmare that is their parking situation. Be forewarned that YOU WILL NOT FIND A SPACE on the weekends any time from mid-morning to late afternoon or after work during the week because the absolute sh*tshow that the Trader Joes customers brings to the plaza. So if you have a critical emergency during those times, you need to bring someone with you and drop off them OR double park and deal with the ire of the dozens of cars you're going to block. Also, just so you know before heading over, this hospital is PRICEY. I don't think you'll find anywhere better in or around the Beltway though. The doctors will work with you in terms of choosing best course of care for you and your pet, but a hospitalization and procedure may run you up to $8-10K. read more

They both did a great job of keeping me updated with the plan of care. There were several other vet nurses & front desk staff who were equally as kind to us. Bella needed to be transferred for care overnight so she could see an internal medicine provider at a Vet Specialty clinic & undergo further testing. She was diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism & needs two daily meds for the rest of her life. The team there is amazing & will do everything possible to get your fur baby to feeling better again! This place was wonderful and the people are fantastic from the front desk person down to the Veterinarians, nurses, and assistants. Brought my cat Rameses in, late on a Saturday night and immediately, he started getting the emergency care he needed. My cat had been vomiting early in the morning and just lay around the entire day without eating or drinking water, becoming lethargic and very weak. After several diagnostic tests and blood work, we realized he was going through DKA and his blood sugar was over 500! Dr Kelly explained he was very critical and would need to be hospitalized with an internal med doctor for up to 3-5 days. Even still, due to Rameses' age, it could be a 50/50 chance of him coming out of this. I went home in the early morning hours to process everything and returned the next morning. Rameses was stable, but still a long ways to go. My bill was already in the thousands. I carefully weighed his chances, along with age, and quality of life he was facing IF he were to come out of this. Painfully, I made the decision to humanely euthanize my best friend of the past 12+ years. Dr. Foley respectfully understood and helped the process. They gave me time in a private room to love on my cat, Facetime family to say their goodbyes, and hold my buddy during his last breaths. I wanted to shout out the team specifically, that helped Rameses throughout the night into the following morning. We brought our sick girl Bella in and were impressed by the rapid intake and analytical care she received immediately. Unfortunately, the test results grew increasingly dire and it became clear that our sweet girl had cancer of the spleen that had spread to her lungs and her future was going to be very difficult. The doctor explained our options very clearly without judgement, and we decided that humane euthanasia was the best course of action to spare our sweet girl pain and suffering. They provided us with a private room so we could spend some final moments with her, and gave her a plate of special treats that she really enjoyed. The staff was exceptionally compassionate and gentle, and her transition from this life was professionally handled and completely peaceful. I can attest that this group provides excellent care whether you are the only one there at 2am on a Tuesday or one of many waiting to be seen on a busy Sunday morning. Everyone is treated with respect and compassion from the moment you walk through the door. While extremely busy on Sunday, I was truly amazed by Josh who was working the front with a smile on his face. I was stressed just watching everyone there managing the influx of patients including several who were critical, but this place was running like a well-oiled machine. I have been meaning to post this review for a couple months. Our 12 year old dog took a sudden turn for the worse. Our vet recommended that we go to VEG. I can't emphasize enough how amazing Dr. Samantha Storey is. Unfortunately we had to euthanize our dog that day. This decision is never easy. I can't imagine anyone being more compassionate in helping us to decide and act on this difficult decision. They helped my wife carrying Nala in to the practice from the car and gave her an IV for dehydration immediately. Dr. Storey was as worried about my wife as she was Nala's health. She completed only the necessary procedures to determine a prognosis for Nala, she helped my wife through the irrational guilt of making the right decision, and gave us time, space, reassurance, and compassion. My daughter is in a pre-vet undergrad program and I can only say that I hope my daughter can learn from and be trained by a veterinarian like Dr. Storey. Can't recommend enough and I hope you find someone who treated our family like Dr. Storey. read more

Awesome care team and modern information system. Walk-in only. Patient check-in and registration process went smoothly in a timely manner. Everyone focused on caring of my sick husky. Impressive standard of care. Blood panel was done at the point of care (POCT). Test results took ~30 mins, then the attending physician was able to prescribe and dispense controlled medication. (VEG even has an automated medication dispensing cabinet) In any case, healthy dog, happy parents. One last thing, after the urgent care, VEG send my dog's discharge summary to my primary care veterinarian right away. And VEG did a follow-up via text message to check on the health of my dog. read more

Had to take our senior dog there on a Saturday night after she had a seizure. We were immediately greeted and walked to triage. The staff did an excellent job of speaking to me, but also petting and calming my dog. Unfortunately the diagnosis was grim on multiple fronts, but they walked me through a fact based assessment. No hard sell on extreme measures. We made the tough decision that pet owners must do as our Lizzie was in pain. They brought us to a comfortable privacy room with soft lighting and a couch. They made our dog comfortable with some pain killers and a broad range of treats. As this was all unexpected they allowed my wife and I some time, and no rushing us through the process. The staff was very communicative and respectful of us and our dog. While it was a very sad experience, I will say with full confidence that the staff made it as easy as possible for us and our beloved pet. read more

On July 14th (my husband's birthday...) we were on a cruise, and my best friend was watching my dog, Ruby. Ruby has a history of heart disease (seen by cardio, was on meds) My friend called me while we were at dinner on the ship, letting us know Ruby was not acting normal, not eating, vomiting, and extremely lethargic. Knowing what I know (vet tech, used to work in cardio) I had a strong feeling this was not good. She took her to VEG Falls Church, and they immediately contacted me. The Dr. De Armas called and discussed this with me, and also agreeing, sounds like kidney failure. Blood was run, and she sent it to me, I immediately looked at my husband and knew we were going to euthanize that night. She was in so much pain, she was tired. I promised her when she was diagnosed with CHF, that I would not push her. Dr. De Armas called, agreed. Euthanasia was the kindest thing in that moment. We COULD have hospitalized, but were were still going to be gone for another 10 days, and there was no telling how long she'd last. I made the painful decision to euthanize her via facetime. The technicians, front desk staff (Kim, you are an absolute angel. Please know from the bottom of my heart, you are why this field is so magical) and Dr. De Armas herself were all SO incredibly kind, and loving to my girl. I could tell they actually felt PAIN knowing we couldn't be there. This team was exactly what I needed in that moment, and I cannot thank you enough. I wish SO badly I lived closer, because personally, I'd apply to work there in a HEARTBEAT. Thank you so much for the love and care you showed my sweet Ruby girl. read more

We sadly had an emergency with our cat in the middle of the night, and VEG was with us every step of the way. They were able to take us when other vets were turning us away, and they were extremely caring and empathetic when we arrived. Unfortunately we had to put down our sweet kitty, but the staff were amazing to help us through it. They let us take as much time as we needed, talked us through our cremation options, and never once pushed us or rushed us.
