Nothing but caring doctors and techs! They made us feel heard and were quick and efficient. Can't recommend them more!

Been going to cat care for years. Recently had a bad experience. My cat had a urinary blockage. No warning about how expense Greenbrier would be. The cat got good care at Greenbrier but was not prepared for how expense it would be. Payment needed to be made in advance before any care was given. Had to run home and get another CC that I don't normally carry with be. The practice is open late Friday - Monday 7:30 AM. Had to pick the cat up Monday morning doing a snow storm still with catheter sticking out his rear. Then take him to properly only vet open doing the snow storm. They keep him while I waited half a day in the lobby. Was told best to keep the catheter in for 48 hours. Cost at Greenbrier $2,900 and another $350 at Meadow Creek. I ask them if I came to them first what the charge would be for the same procedure. Was told $700. At Greenbrier I was also told that my cat may need to go next store to the specially surgical veterinarians for a future procedure . That they were the only ones that did that procedure in our area. Cost would be about $5,000. At Meadow Creek they told me that they could do the same procedure and cost would be about $2,000. They put the cat on a special diet and medicine so hopeful he will not need to have it done. Can not say enough nice thinks about Mesdow Creek and staff. I expect that they will be my new veterinarian. Finale thought my father was a veterinarian and I use to help him out at his practice. I know a few things about the business.

Instead of support, we felt judged and pressured, which made an already heartbreaking decision even harder. Families deserve empathy at such moments, not guilt. Will not return and do not recommend.

I cannot recommend VVSE highly enough…read more My cat had surgery in November for his ears at VVSE. It was extremely cost effective and the doctor was actually able to not only salvage the ear flaps which we initially thought would be impossible but was also able to avoid operating on the second ear entirely saving my cats hearing and ultimately us a huge expense. Our cat came home happy and healthy and recovered beautifully. Our experience was fabulous. Unfortunately, due to unrelated issues, our cat ended up in the ER back at VVSE this weekend. He is 12, so he is elderly. He unfortunately had lung and heart problems and we had to make the really painful decision to put him down today. Every step with VVSE was handled so professionally and we are so grateful our cat was treated with the upmost care and dignity during his last 2 days with us. They were prompt and thorough with the emergency treatment, extremely transparent with pricing and communication was exceptionally handled. When the time came to decide euthanasia vs treatment (which ultimately would've prolonged his suffering) the staff were empathetic and supportive of our decision. The euthanasia process itself was dignified and professional. We were allowed to take lots of time to spend with him and his passing was peaceful and painless. It was genuinely everything I could have hoped for given how terrible and unexpected the situation was. We even had a family member show up after our cat had passed and they allowed us to come back in to let our family say goodbye. Their funeral options for his body were also touching and we felt like the process was easy and met all of our needs considering how little time we had to plan for this to happen. Obviously you don't want to see your cat pass away. This cat was my soul cat I will never love another animal like him and I am devastated by his loss. But genuinely the experience with VVSE has eased my grief so substantially I am so so happy and grateful they were able to provide his end of life care. I went home feeling completely at peace and we have a sense of closure I NEVER expected to feel so soon and I really credit their team with providing him exceptional care and dignity in his final days. Thank you to everyone who worked with my baby this weekend - I cannot express my gratitude enough.

The staff are professional, patient, knowledgeable, and compassionate - both during regular hours and nighttime emergency hours. My only complaint is that when it was time to insert a catheter for medication administration, they made several attempts before asking us if they could sedate him. It was distressing to hear him vocalize like that, needless to say. I'm not placing any blame - probably a breakdown in chart notes or communication or a fluke somewhere. The actual staff corrected course very quickly once they got it straightened out. They made everything as easy as one can in that situation. Shout outs specifically to Dr. Mallett, Dr. Abernethy, and receptionists Becca and Courtney. We appreciate the help you gave us and our boy. If any needs arise in the future, we'll be sure to seek this practice out again.

Never would I have thought I would be writing a bad review regarding Charlottesville Veterinary…read moreHospital, but due to a recent situation I feel it is important that other pet owners are made aware of the incident regarding a needless extensive surgery for our dog. Our "Frenchie" Pablo had a growth on his right side, the rotating Doctor Dr. Christopher Middleton, DVM, diagnosed Pablo with cancer (mast cell tumor) on 10/5/23 at an office visit doing just a "smear" sample of cells from the surface that he scraped off and then looking under microscope. He also stated that we needed to get it removed right away as well as getting an abdominal ultrasound (which we would have had we been able to get an appointment. We were also told to take Pablo to an oncologist, which again, we were unable to get an appointment within the month. With all that in mind and also the insistence that Pablo have the growth removed ASAP to prevent the possible spreading of cancer, we had the surgeon perform the operation. A week later, the pathology results came back stating that Pablo never had any form of cancer. We were also then informed by the full-time Vet/owner that the growth would have just dried up and fallen off had we done nothing. After hearing this, I called the administrator (Jennifer) and expressed my displeasure that my dog just had a completely unnecessary x-ray and extensive procedure. She tried to defend Dr. Middleton instead of apologizing and offering me a partial refund. Jennifer stated that Pablo had a "benign cancerous tumor." I explained to her that is not correct because benign means "non-cancerous", so clearly, she did not understand that it couldn't be benign and cancer at the same time. Over a week passed, and I was still waiting for my refund. We finally received a letter that we needed to find another vet due to our "displeasure of the care provided," and they would give me a good faith partial refund of $350. We asked for the records and found out that Jennifer fabricated notes in the records that stated that I "demanded potential outcomes." We will miss Doctors Carlson and Luziach, but it is not the "displeasure of the care provided"; it is the honesty and the inability of management to admit to a mistake that involved an expensive misdiagnosis.

Big thank you to vet assistant Bridget and Dr. Luzaich!…read more Took our Lancer in to get his shots and wellness examination. Both of them were extremely friendly, transparent, and knowledgeable for all of my questions and concerns. Our dog is very wary around strangers, but the staff here are able to handle him well and be very kind with him. Of note-they offer a curbside pick up for appointments, which we use. Make sure to park in the numbered spots and let them know where you are.
