The Sportsbook restaurant: Princess and our server with the platinum blonde short hair were amazing. I cannot thank them enough for their exceptional service during my 20th reunion. We did not have as many guests as I had hoped, and they probably did not spend as much as I expected on food and drinks, but we still had a wonderful time. Princess apologized for the wait at one point, but we were completely relaxed and just enjoying ourselves. She took great care of us most of the evening. She is a great asset to your team. Her communication was excellent, her personality was warm and welcoming, and she even called everyone by name. She was incredibly gracious and made the experience memorable for all of us. I will say that initially it was difficult to reach someone to arrange the event. I tried the website, Facebook, and made three phone calls. Eventually I was able to reach someone who provided me with an email address for Karissa. From that point on everything went smoothly. Karissa did everything she said she would do for my group and then some. She was extremely accommodating in the best way. Her communication was strong and she answered every question I had. Went to check it out. Pit boss... (Shelley?) is clearly a MISERABLE person. We walked in at like 1am... and they were closing yet another table. I asked why when all the other tables were full. With an attitude that was completely unnecessary- she says I don't have the staff. Mind you, I did NOT at all give an ounce of attitude. We were disappointed. After spending 25 min waiting my - table spots opened up. Everything was good- dealers were cool. Energy was great... table guests were winning. Then she comes to the table- maybe we were winning too much - and says you can't discuss hands. I said maybe if you paid attention you would notice we weren't doing that. I said please take that negative energy away from this table. Then in 5 min they raised the $10 min to $15. At 2am on a Monday night - where only this table had a full table - they raised the minimum. I would use some other choice words for her- but I'll pass. I will NEVER be returning. Not that they give a damn - People like that pit boss whose life is obviously MISERABLE ruin it for everyone- the guests, the company... everyone. Stay the hell away from this beautiful looking casino - because they simply don't deserve your patronage with people like her. Went here recently. Parking garage a little hard to find, (went on a weekday) not too busy. Employees are very nice & directed us to where we needed to go . Had a good time. Machines were kind of tight, and didn't pay out much, we moved around quite a bit and didn't find anything really paying out much at all which was disappointing. We visited Boulevard inside the casino after attending the Zarna Garg comedy show on Sunday. After enjoying the show and spending some time playing games, we went there to grab something quick to eat. My friend told me that pizza is good, so quickly we went for pizza Unfortunately, when our turn came, there were no pizza slices left, which was disappointing as we were really looking forward to it. The place itself looked nice and was quite busy, but the limited availability was a letdown. Since we couldn't get food there, we decided to head to Red Lotus Asian Kitchen inside the casino instead. We were genuinely surprised at how nice this casino turned out. We enjoy playing craps but have been turned off at times given the difficulty in finding an open table at most casinos. Here, they had three tables operating at the same time. No reservation or shoehorn needed to play, just walk right up and play. Please keep three tables open moving forward! The rest of the floor offers every machine and table game that you could want to play, including another of our favorites, automated craps with a $3 minimum bet. I came here on opening night for the brand new casino in joliet. This place was a madhouse! People had to park on the grass since most of the parking spaces were full. I'm sure after a week it will be easier to find parking. Getting in was a little bit of weight but much faster dealing with lines at the TSA at O'hare. After checking in and getting through security you are on the game floor and this place has everything you can expect from a casino. I've seen bigger casinos but generally for this area it is a fair size. Everything is brand new, clean and greatly maintained. I found a few of the machines were broken already. They don't even have a spot holder for when you have to leave your machine. We saw some of the restaurants there they got some other floor they also got more before you go through security. I will say they got a great variety of everything. I did Venture through the event space and honestly I thought it was really small. I was expecting something pretty big like the one they have in Gary, Indiana. Overall I'm very impressed with the casino regardless. Even though I lost out on $20 and my wife won a lot of money I still consider my time here will win. read more

I recently heard this location opened up, especially since the riverboat is now closed. Today, I decided to check out this location. To start, the drive here was very confusing. I could not imagine trying to navigate here during the dark so hopefully the roads and Main Street has some good lighting. There were a lot of closed roads and a lot of construction signs. It's like either they are still working construction or they ran out of money and everything is paused (More regarding that last comment to come). We were able to location the parking garage. The drive to the parking garage is bad and very narrow. I almost got hit by 5+ cars and 1 bus. And, like everyone said...it wording on the signs makes it seem like it's for VIP only. However, I do not think this is the case. The layout of this garage is very bad and confusing. Whoever designed this garage has zero experience designing a garage. You drive straight on the ramp to the 2nd floor. On my visit, there were two trucks parked opposite so it slowed traffic to a stop. Plus people were parking on the ramp so that slowed its even worse. Finally, I made it to the 2nd or 3rd floor... but it did not help. The garage just ended. I saw a ramp to the 4th floor but there were construction cones stopping. It looked like the entrance to the 3rd floor was blocked off.. .. but it was not. Eventually...I found a spot but I had no idea where to head to towards the casino. Luckily, I just followed the group of people. I entered the elevator but there is no signs to let me know which floor had the casino. There were no signs or anything since the "parking VIP" outside the casino and here I am trying to find my way into the casino. Eventually, we just guessed the first floor and we were right. We made into the casino itself, finally. I was trying to pull out my wallet since I always got carded. This was probably the wrong move since I was asked to step aside but everyone in front of me was able to walk in. Whatever..maybe seeing me pull out my license made them think I was close to the correct age. However, the "line" to have my ID checked was confusing here too. I did not know where to go.. so... to have a little fun while my wife was watching.. I was like the meme of a dog trying to chase his own tail. After spinning for like 5 times, someone was able to check my ID. And then.. sadly... I had no idea how to get back into the correct line to get into the casino. Finally... when I arrived at the casino... everything was much better. There were plenty of machines to play. The area was very big with a lot of different selections. Free sodas and coffee on one corner. There were very clean bathrooms. And on the other corner was a little marketplace to get some snacks. This one looked interesting.. like those amazon store where you scan your credit card first... pick what you want and walk out. AI will purchase it for you. The day I arrived on Saturday, I did notice a lot of restaurants but I did not visit. Overall.. I was a big fan of the Riverboat but this visit was very odd from taking the confusing main Roads, to the confusing parking garage, and the lack of signs from garage to casino. I hope this place and the 1 mile vicinity will have signages to help people navigate. And I hope the road to the garage is improved. And the sign into the garage is better. read more

I have been going to the Bay St. Louis casino for years and never had an issue with them until Oct. 31, 2025 around 3:45 pm. The back bar, the bartender was very rude to me. I sat down to play the video poker machines. I order my first drink and played the games. 10 minutes went by and I tried to order another drink and the bartender refused to get me another drink. He said I could not have another drink until 20 minutes. He said it in a pissy way and embarrassed me in front of other patrons. Just like all the rest of these casinos, HOLLYWOOD CASINO has become ghetto. I didn't deserve this at all. I will never set foot in that casino ever again. I don't really want to give them a bad rating but I'd be lying if I gave them a great one. It's a nice looking casino with all the most current and popular machines which is great! I've been going there as a top tier customer since it was the Empress. Totally dissatisfied now. Playing just the same and lost in three months what I did all last year. Can't win anything unless you bet pennies and go home up a few bucks (I'm talking $20 which doesn't even pay for the gas to get there)--you get a bonus on a big bet and get NOTHING--TIME AFTER TIME. I can't tell you how many big bets I make and get less than I even bet on multiple bonuses that have 6-12 free spins each. The machines are so tight I'll probably end up going somewhere else. A shame because the people that work with the public there have always been so very nice--it was always a big draw to go there because they are so pleasant. Not much fun anymore. With my level of play I should have gotten more play and more wins. The nature of a casino is you lose in the long run, but not that you lose every single time. They must have to pay for the place is all I can figure. They sure no longer seem to value their once-loyal customers and seem to be just courting new ones because rewards have also greatly decreased. Get an e-mail on Feb. 14th at 6 pm. I was rewarded $150 in Penn Cash and was available to use on Feb. 15th at 6 am. Got there at 11 am and NOTHING will work. The guy at the desk couldn't get it fixed, message was sent out to Upper Management and would be taken care of right away. YEAH RIGHT! I didn't drive all the way out here for nothing, so I went to the ATM and got my own money thinking the problem will be addressed promptly. I couldn't even play any machines. Jackets are thrown on chairs by people blocking the use, chairs were turned by people blocking the usage (1 machines chair was turned the whole 90 minutes I was in there), player cards are just left in machines. WHY IS THERE NO RULE ABOUT BLOCKING USAGE OF MACHINES FROM OTHER PEOPLE??? I turned the chair around that was turned blocking the machine for 90 minutes. The guy sitting across, playing a different machine, started yelling at me and saying that's his machines DO NOT TOUCH IT. Security was just standing around doing nothing and didn't address the guy yelling. I finally left after 90 minutes since Management refused to fix the problem with Penn Play while I was there. I left the casino, drove back to Lockport, took my wife somewhere, stopped and filled my gas tank and went home. I didn't a call back until 3 hours later that my problem was finally fixed. I don't even know if that is true since I'm already back home. At Harrah's in Joliet, staff will actually move chairs back in position when they are turned. Pretty sad when going staff at Hollywood just stands there doing nothing and doesn't do the same thing. I walked out of there mainly because of this issue and the fact the people can just block whatever machine they want as their own for however long they feel. Joliet Hollywood Casino first visit today. Parking was not a problem although I can see why some people have a problem. The outside lot is a little confusing, but there is plenty of garage parking spaces. The casino itself was small but clean. The bathrooms were very clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. Maybe I had too high expectations for the new PENN Casino on Gateway. Outside and inside is beautiful. New and glisteningly clean! Plenty of room to walk around. Lots of free parking. This is a Thursday almost 1 PM. Very few people. Most machines were available. Slots seemed a little tight. But mostly I was disappointed that the restaurants do not open until 3 PM. We had hoped to have a bit of lunch right away. The old Hollywood had a nice pub that was open for lunch. Everything I saw was closed except for Dailies, which seemed to be bakery goods and coffee. A snack bar. The sign also said sandwiches. So I don't see any reason to go back. It is not conveniently located as it is out a way. It's too bad though. RV Park charges are beyond ridiculous. $64/night which includes a $5 discount. 17% taxes and $11 resort fee for free coffee in the hotel. $5 discount in casino restaurant,whoopie that wont even cover the taxes on a coffee.Only water and electric,no dump station. No shuttle to the casino and it's not close. Also charged a $50 deposit to insure no damage. It's suppose to be returned when you leave. Have to sign in at hotel,not at all welcoming. After all these charges,the casino doesn't even get any more of our money. We were excited to go to this casino,but with these charges we've already spent extra money. read more

No parking or very little parking, people were confused and backing out due to a blocked gate, VIP garage parking is misleading, no restaurants open at all just snack bars open . No pop at all when you walk in , just a plain entrance, old casino had a real nice over hang when you walked in were expensive cars would park in front , not here just plain as a mall entrance. Kinda messed up here in my opinion, architectural all wrong and very boring , outside is unfinished with cones all over, dirt piles and no parking , open way way to early and design of building is a bore. Went to the Casino 8/16/25! Very confusing as to where you can park, even couldn't believe the garage parking said for VIP only. The audio volume on the casino floor and ESPN restaurant was so LOUD even the wait staff strained to listen for our food order. Very nerve racking to try and eat with those TV volume pumped to the MAX! Also, the temperature was freezing, so be sure to bring a sweater or sweatshirt. I think PENN will figure things out after more folks give them feedback. read more

Went here the day after it opened.People complain it looks like a warehouse but I thought it wasn't bad looking on the outside. Parking was a bit of a nightmare as the signs are confusing and every road was closed with cones. I ended going in through an out entrance but I found parking. The casino is very nice although a bit crowded in spots. I did get bonuses on most of the slots I played and I should've left when the going was good but didn't and ended up losing a lot. The restaurants weren't open but looked nice and there's even outdoor seating. Don't know that I'd go back because I-80 is all torn up and that big bridge scares the heck outta me! read more

Hollywood should have invested money in the original casino. This new facility is not appealing in any manner. First off the location is secluded and a nightmare to get to. This is an area very vulnerable to car jacking and robberies. I can state that from 38 years in law enforcement. The outside of the casino resembles a warehouse with an attached parking garage. The interior is not as big as the outside portrays. Our visit on Saturday December 6th in the afternoon found that it was not crowded. Numerous slot machines but to many of the same game. If you are a smoker this designated area is disgustingly dirty and cold. The windows have no glass nor screens, they are covered by wire mesh. Cold air, snow, insects and cigarette butts that failed to make the flick outside sit on the window sills. The clientele occupying this area were very questionable! Would not recommend a female to utilize this area. No food buffet. A food court with a poor selection of food options. It cost us $52.10 for two hamburgers, chicken tenders (3 pieces) and two fountain drinks. Hamburgers were good but nothing worth noting. We were long time customers of Empress/Hollywood casino. The old facility was much better, the drive in to the original casino was always memorable, you could encounter deer, wild turkey and country type scenery. The old casino may have been smaller but a warmer atmosphere. Unlikely that we will visit again. read more

Beautiful new casino. Went there to check it out, play a little and have lunch. Went to parking garage and the sign identifying the garage gave the impression that it was for VIP parking only (bad wording on sign). Everyone kept driving past. I turned around, ignored the sign and drove into the garage. Everyone in elevator agreed that the sign to the garage was confusing and that they drove past the garage entrance as well thinking that it was for VIP parking only. No restaurants were open except for the ESPN bar. After all the hype, was looking forward to the food. The "Boulevard" was totally empty and no sign of anything being cooked. ESPN bar offerings were basically pub grub. Casino was very loud. We had to yell at each other to talk. Before you blame the slot machines for the noise, I have never had that problem in any casino in Vegas. Ran into friends on our way out. They were there for the same reason we were. Like us, they checked out the casino and left. No play and no food. Reminded me of going to Wind Creek a month after they opened. No food options except pre packaged sandwiches and salads like at the airport. Definitely not the destination place it was hyped up to be. Btw, my husband said there were no towels to dry his hands in the restroom. Hope things get better. read more

Recently started going here over Harrah's in Joliet. We are headed back to Harrah's. Casino does not have a lot of machines compared to other casinos we visit. Issue is too many of the machines are blocked from play. Chairs turned, clothes on chairs, cards in machine and some have money in them for play. When you do move something people come running and get upset. They feel they have the right to reserve many machines for their own use. Casino must be making enough money that they are not concerned about machines not being played. At Harrah's we see staff moving chairs back in position when they are turned and very few examples of blocking machines from being used. read more

One of the worse RV parks we've visited. Check-in system was dysfunctional. They lost our reservations and claimed that we never made any... then when we showed a copy of our reservations made months prior, they claimed was 'computer issues'. RV parks was run-down, dirty, water tasted 'funky' and no WiFi. When we asked about the lack of WiFi, office said they are getting ready to close the casino and we're lucky the RV park was even open. Update: I have an inside source that says they're secretly planning on building a new casino a few miles west perhaps to appeal to a "better market." Makes since as they're not spending money to keep the place in shape and certainly not paying their employees enough to stay. It's supposedly common to have new employees go through the lengthy hiring & gaming board approval process only to have them quit after one day. I visited a few months ago to find their sport gambling area attracting a clientele much different than what you'd think a casino should. I split after a few minutes. Saw a closed-down steak house, a closed-down buffet restaurant, a closed-down gift shop, a closed-down sandwich shop. My original review: Filthy dirty environment. Look at the carpet as you walk through the turnstiles. Look between the slot machines. Check out the hotel. Blah. The service from slot attendants is awful. The slot attendants will ignore you unless they believe you're a big tipper. The beverage servers are great. The security officers are polite and helpful. But, management is out for profits...... period. Illinois tax is 5%. For every twenty dollars you win, you pay Illinois $1. read more
