This review is for the pet store's grooming service. Don't use them! I went in and saw a small dog soaking wet SHIVERING violently with a cold fan blowing on him/her! I was horrified. She then said "warm air might kill the dog." then she said dismissively, "Oh, she's just old.". I called other groomers who told me they towel dry their dogs. She told me to Google the fact about the dryer. I told her to Google " hypothermia". I tried to leave a review and was told they'd get back to me...They didn't. read more

I love a good pet shop! And this one was a surprise. I expected a little-traveled hole in the wall with a smattering of supplies, but this place is much bigger and better stocked than I'd expected. As a "father" of two dogs, one a tiny pampered monster and the other a rough-and-tumble tomboy, I have two very distinct animals to shop for, and this shop had me covered on both. If you have any pets with strict diets, I was astounded at the number of specialty foods here - Gluten free, fat free, 100% chicken, soy protein... If that's your thing, go nuts! That said, I give it a ding, because they don't stock non-specialty pet foods, and the ones they do have are quite a bit more expensive. Still, great staff, very good selection. We came in for dog treats, cat toys, flea medication for cats and dogs, and dog shampoo. We not only found everything we were looking for, but had several options to choose from in each case (except the dog food). Pro-tip: those Alligator chews (front counter, lower left) are a dog's dream come true, but the lady out the counter recommended that we fill them with peanut butter and freeze them, so it would take the dogs longer to eat them. I didn't know it was even possible for our dogs to love us as much as they did after we tried that! read more

I happened to see while on Yelp that this store has some negative reviews and I must say I disagree. I have 10 animals and shop at a wide variety of places. Hollywood Feed isn't the priciest or the cheapest - but I've never had a rude employee, I've never had someone not help me, I've always been asked if I needed help carrying bags of food out to the car. I have absolutely no complaints about this store. Their prices are inline with anyone else and they offer a food selection that is not easily found at most brick & mortar pet stores. I've bought toys, treats, collars, food for the dog and food for the cats. They are more dog oriented than cat oriented (however, they have been expanding, so that may or may not change). They offer a card where once you buy so many bags of food, you get a bag free. Now, personally this does not work for me because I am an avid believer that feeding your animal the same pet food over and over and over is not a logical choice. I have always changed the foods I feed the pets (or I mix several together) and have had no issues with that philosophy for over 20 years. So, I never really buy the same thing and can't keep up with annoying cards. Just a personal thing on my part. I went here when they were Premium Pets (still located off Rodney Parham) and I continued when they moved to Cantrell and then later changed to Hollywood Feed - I have had no issues with any employee's conduct, attitude or level of assistance when needed. My one & only complaint: When you ask someone what they feed their pet and their reply is some basic brand bought at Walmart or Kroger - do not tell them to stop or they need to switch. Offer a brochure or flyer on WHY one might want to consider other options - with websites that allow for personal education. That type of admonishment for someone who came in to buy a collar for a friend can be a turn off. It comes across as snobbish. Like why you should drive a Mercedes instead of Chevrolet...as if all of our budgets allow that. I did hear that once in there, which is why I mention it. Otherwise, the store is great and for any pet owner, it's an option. read more

The staff is very friendly and helpful for all of your pet needs and concerns. I was looking for a specific brand for small breed and they had it in stock. They also offered to order a larger bag size if I wanted them to do so. They have a frequent feeder program as well. Other than pet food they have pet supplies, medications, treats, and much more. Where do I start! Totally exceeded my expectations! Not only did they have a large selection of the toughest dog toys for my pitbull, they also had a huge selection of organic foods and treats that she requires due to her allergies. I was also in the market for a large dog bed and they had the exact one I almost bought online on sale, and saved me over $60. Oh! AND.. the helpful staff suggested this really cool super tough rubber dog chew toy that is guaranteed for life, so if (when) Nali chews it to bits I can take the bits back to them and they will replace it for free! This saves me $21 I spend on a regular basis to keep her in Kongs that get destroyed. The staff is amazingly informed and very helpful!! Upscale pet store with a wide selection of healthy food & treats. We have one pet with allergies, they keep a record of her allergies so we can get medically appropriate food for her. I've found staff to always be friendly & helpful. As previously noted, their prices are comparable to the "big box" pet stores if you use the "Frequent Feeder" purchase preference cards (12th bag for free). My husband and I stopped by just to see what they had, and ended up talking a bit to the staff about our dog's ear problems. The staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful, and made a suggestion as to some product we could try. We chose a specialty food and some ear wash along with a new collar and some treats, of course. After one week, we were pleasantly surprised to see a drastic improvement in our dogs ears after using the product they suggested. When we go back for more supplies, we will let them know how much we appreciated their good help! This shop is a higher end pet store and a little more expensive in some cases, but well worth it. read more

I had been feeding my dog a high quality online-only food that suddenly closed down (Flint River Ranch). I needed to find another food for my Boxer, and wanted something as close to what he was already eating as possible because he has food allergies. The employees asked what I needed and when I explained my situation they checked their computer and found a brand that they carry (Canidae) that was very similar in ingredients. They seemed to really be knowledgeable about the ingredient formulas of the foods that they carry. I've also been to this store once before and both times everyone was friendly and asked if I needed help finding anything. Great store. read more

I have no ties to this store or skin in this game but created my first yelp account specifically to provide feedback on this store. I have had the same experience as the other recent poster. I too have been a customer since the store was owned by Premium Pets and have noticed the same decline in customer service over the last several months. The employees seem more inclined to spend time on their personal cell phones and on restocking than on customers. To add insult to injury, both two and four legged customers are equally ignored, or treated with an indifferent attitude that borders on being rude. I came in today needing dog food. I just moved back into town and was unsure which food to buy that might be similar to what I was used to purchasing. I showed the cashier a picture of the food I normally buy. She was able to find food with similar and even better ingredients for my aging small doxie. And the brand was a lower price point than what I was paying at a chain store. The brand is also a brand that has never been recalled and has a fantastic reputation. Even though for me they were most helpful regarding the best choices for food that met my pet's needs, I really think you could walk in with any question and they not only have all and or can find all the answers, but they make sure you are getting the best prices in town. I'm blown away by how helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly their staff was during my visit today. Big thank you for your help. First let me preface this review by saying that I didn't want to like Hollywood Feed. I've lived nearby for 5 years and have just now converted into a lifelong customer--I'm not sure why but I had this preconceived idea in my head about the store and was somewhat biased in thinking it would be too expensive, etc. I could not have been more WRONG! Firstly, their pet food prices are on par with other retailers, maybe even a bit lower; however, their Frequent Feeder program makes them stand above the rest. I am always looking for the best deal on pet food due to having 4 hungry pets to feed. Petco, PetSmart, and Amazon cannot beat the overall pricing discount you will get by the Frequent Feeder cards at Hollywood Feed. After buying either 10 or 12 bags of the same food, depending on the brand, you can earn a free bag of that food! The next thing that impressed me about the store was its employees, who always greet me each time I come in and never fail to ask if they can help me find a particular product. The store has also just doubled in size by acquiring the retail space next door and expanding. And the final thing that Hollywood Feed does that impressed me and earned my lifelong business is their support for local shelters and homeless animals. I can shop there for my pets and know that my purchases help support the local homeless pets in shelters around Arkansas. I cannot adopt them all so this is a way that I can give back. I recently purchased a rope toy for my dogs and the store will be donating the exact same toy to a shelter dog in need. How cool is that?!? It makes me so happy to think of the joy that I see in my pups' faces with their new toy being shared with a dog who is alone and in a shelter waiting on their forever home.
